    The ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ actor finds it funny that people criticized his Irish accent in ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ since he was actually born and raised in Ireland.

    AceShowbiz – Jamie Dornan is unbothered by the criticism of his new movie “Wild Mountain Thyme”.
    The 38-year-old actor thinks it is funny the movie – which also stars Emily Blunt and Christopher Walken – was slammed for the actor’s Irish accents despite Dornan being Irish himself.
    Speaking on “The Graham Norton Show’s New Year’s Eve]” special, he said, “I thought the reaction was funny. I’m from Ireland and our currency is taking the p***, so it’s rare to put something out there and not have the p*** taken. I’m all for it!”
    The romantic drama follows Emily Blunt’s Rosemary as she tries to win the affection of Anthony, played by Dornan, who must pursue his dreams when he learns his father plans to sell the family farm to his nephew.

    Dornan thought the writing by John Patrick Shanley made the story “beautiful” and was intrigued by the “kookiness” of his movie.
    He explained, “John Patrick Shanley has a kookiness to his work. His are not normal linear movies, they are all a bit heightened and a bit odd, but the words are beautiful.”
    Blunt also shared the same enthusiasm for the writing as she was bewitched by the “unique” script.
    She added, “When we read the script, we thought it was so bewitching and completely unique. It is odd, lyrical and romantic so we are just excited for people to see it because it is so uplifting, and it certainly sweeps you away to a magical world. It is just a joy.”
    “The Graham Norton Show” is on BBC One on 31 December (20) at 10.25pm.

      AceShowbiz – Jamie Dornan was “very relieved” when his “Wild Mountain Thyme” co-star Emily Blunt told him she hadn’t seen “Fifty Shades of Grey”.
      The actor starred as Christian Grey, who embarks on a sadomasochistic relationship with Dakota Johnson’s character Anastasia Steele in the film trilogy, and it appears it’s not a role he’s proud of.
      When his latest co-star confessed she hadn’t seen any of the films, he was thrilled.

      Blunt, who plays the love interest of Jamie’s character in John Patrick Shanley’s new drama, said, “Jamie was quite relieved that I had never seen the Fifty Shades films. And I hadn’t read the book. So I just said, ‘I’m so sorry. I’ve never seen those films’. And he goes, ‘I am very relieved.’ ”
      “I’d seen Jamie on The Fall and I’d seen him in Private War, and that was it really. So I didn’t have any sort of perception of him being this, you know, whatever Christian Grey was.”
      Dornan has made it clear his time on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise is over, adding, “I was ready to move on from this crazy chapter in my life. No matter who I was playing, I don’t think I’d want to play a character for multiple, multiple films. I think I’d just get really bored of that.”
      The BDSM romance movie about Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele is based on a book which originally started as a “Twilight” fanfiction. The first “Fifty Shades” movie came out in 2015, followed by a second movie in 2017 and a third and final one in 2018.

      AceShowbiz – Jamie Dornan was freaked out by one fan’s bizarre attempt to convince him that he and his “Fifty Shades of Grey” co-star, Dakota Johnson, were the parents to a lovechild.
      The actor, who played Christian Grey in the film series, admits he received a lot of fan mail from obsessed fans of the books and movies, but one correspondence was particularly strange.
      “It was a collage of photographs of a kid,” he tells Variety. “Someone saying that it was my kid, and my wife should know that I have this kid who’s seven years old.”

      The 38-year-old hunk, who is also known for his portrayal of serial killer Paul Spector on the crime drama series “The Fall”, continues, “I think they were trying to say that the kid was mine and Dakota Johnson’s, and we’d had this baby while we made the first ‘Fifty Shades’ movie. It piqued our interest, let’s say. It was a bit freaky.”
      If he wasn’t dealing with odd fans, Jamie was having to contend with the worst reviews of his career, confessing he learned to laugh them off because some were just awful.
      “I went through a bad stage with ‘Fifty Shades’ of reading a couple of really bad ones, but then just finding them funny and letting them drive me,” he recalls. “One of them was: ‘Jamie Dornan has the charisma of oatmeal…’ Some people like oatmeal, so I thought it was kind of harsh. I remember that stuck with me, and I don’t entirely disagree with it either.”

      AceShowbiz – “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Jamie Dornan has jumped to the defence of his pal Kristen Wiig, after she was slammed for putting together a cringeworthy viral video featuring celebrities singing along to John Lennon’s “Imagine”.
      Wiig and “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot came up with the plan to help lift the spirits of people on lockdown, but the idea fell flat and led to fans and critics alike taking aim at the actresses for being out of touch.
      Dornan, who was among the stars who appeared in the video, has now defended the project, insisting people should understand Gadot and his friend were simply trying to do a good thing.
      “Kristen and I did a movie together last summer… and we got on brilliantly,” Jamie told the “Tea With Me” podcast. “I would do anything for her – that’s how highly I think of her. I was the biggest fan of her before anyway.”
      “Kristen texted, ‘Gal and I are trying to organise this thing to lift spirits,’ so I was like, ‘Of course I’ll do it.’ Then she texted days later saying, ‘Sorry’… Not being on social media, I wasn’t aware of the reaction – but was made aware by mates.”
      Jamie, who revealed he shot his segment from his toilet, has a good idea why so many people were upset by the video, adding, “I’ll tell you what the problem was: I literally did mine in the toilet of my house. Quite clearly, some people had escaped to their second home.”
      “There’s too much acreage in the background, too many beautiful trees swaying in the background, clearly in front of an ocean, that sort of craic.”

      Many viewers criticised the stars in the video for trying to seem sincere about the coronavirus pandemic and the plight of the world as a whole while singing in the gardens of their palatial mansions and at home in their luxury pads.
