    AceShowbiz –
Jamie Foxx’s portrayal of Mike Tyson is set to hit the small screen as a limited series.

The project, which began life as a movie in 2014, will be produced for the small screen by Foxx, who will play the boxer, and executive produced by moviemaking heavyweights Antoine Fuqua and Martin Scorsese.

Terence Winter was initially on board to write the screenplay, but newcomer Colin Preston has now been primed to pen the series.

“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Tyson says. “Now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”

Foxx impressed fight fans last summer (2020) when he showed off his bulked-up physique – as he got into character to play Tyson – in shots posted online. At the time, he shared, “The transformation begins… ‘FINDING MIKE’. It is no secret that I have been pursuing the @miketyson biopic for some time… people always ask me when is it going to happen?… things have finally lined up…”

“A few months ago we started the journey… The first but biggest task is to transform the body… with a regiment of pull-ups dips and push-ups we are off to a pretty good start… we have a ways to go but God willing,” he continued. “I shared these early pics of the process… like I said we have a ways to go… But I am prepared to get there! #swipeleft TYSON!”

His isn’t the only limited series focused on the fearsome heavyweight – but the only one backed by Tyson himself.

The boxer recently lashed out at Hulu executives after they revealed they had ordered a series, titled “Iron Mike”, from “I, Tonya” screenwriter and director Craig Gillespie and executive produced by Margot Robbie and Karin Gist.

The Hollywood Reporter earlier reported that Foxx was in “final talks” to return as Electro in the yet-to-be-titled “Spider-Man 3”. Marvel, which has teamed up with Sony for the previous two “Spider-Man” movies, has not confirmed the news, which was likely why Foxx deleted the post because it was supposed to be still kept under wraps.
Jon Watts, who directed “Far From Home”, is board to return behind the lens for the next installment. Holland is bound to return as the titular superhero, with many of the supporting cast members, including Zendaya Coleman, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori, also being expected to reprise their roles when the camera starts to roll in Atlanta this fall. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing.
The third movie has been scheduled for a December 17, 2021 release, but fans can expect a delay amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Previously, the latest Spider-Man movies hinted at its shared universe with previous films by bringing back J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, the character he played in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, in “Far From Home”. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, meanwhile, starred Andrew Garfield in the title role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actor is now in “final talks” to reprise the role from 2014’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, which starred Andrew Garfield in the title role. The upcoming movie will still have Holland back as the web-crawler.

The third movie has been scheduled for a December 17, 2021 release, but fans can expect a delay amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Should the news be true, it wouldn’t be the first time Holland’s “Spider-Man” movie series features a familiar face from the previous films. Previously, “Far From Home” brought back J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, the character he played in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy starring Tobey Maguire.
The future of Holland’s Spider-Man was previously on the verge of being thrown into jeopardy after Sony parted ways with Marvel in August 2019. With no new deal being struck, Spider-Man would cease to appear in MCU blockbusters.
However, a month later the two studios managed to come to an agreement that will allow Spidey’s journey in the MCU to continue. As part of the new deal between the Hollywood powerhouses, Holland will return for another standalone Spider-Man movie and make an appearance in a non-standalone Marvel film.

  • Michael Jai White Doubts Jamie Foxx Befits Mike Tyson Role in Biopic

    WENN

The ‘Spawn’ star, who has portrayed the boxing legend in 1995’s HBO movie ‘Tyson’, has some reservations about Foxx’s physical transformation for the upcoming film.
    Sep 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Michael Jai White has thrown a subtle shade at Jamie Foxx ahead of the latter’s portrayal of Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic. Having played the former boxing champion in 1995’s HBO movie “Tyson”, the 52-year-old actor has weighed in on the forthcoming movie starring Foxx as the retired athlete.
Speaking to VladTV, the “Spawn” star cast his doubt that the “Django Unchained” actor would be able to pull off portraying the former world heavyweight champion. His reservations mostly came from Foxx’s physical transformation, which he deemed not up to standards to channel the former heavyweight boxer.
“If there’s another angle that Jamie’s pulling out then, hey that’s cool. That’s a helluva undertaking for him,” said White in an interview. When Vlad mentioned that Foxx has “bulked up” for the role, White insinuated that the pictures of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” star which have been circulating online cannot be trusted.
“I don’t believe a lot of stuff in pictures, ’cause when I see him-we’ve got a lot of friends in common. When I see him it’s like, ‘Did he just lose weight to catch this flight?’ ” he said. Noting that he’s “not going to disparage anything,” he added, “but you kinda know how-it’s clickbait.”

White went on noting that bulking up to gain muscle like Tyson in such a short time can pose to be a serious health issue. While he was able to do it for the TV movie, he was unsure if Foxx could handle the physical demands.

The still-untitled Mike Tyson biopic has been in development since 2014. Earlier this year, Foxx confirmed that the project is finally happening, with him teasing his transformation for the role during Mark Birnbaum’s Instagram Live series “Catching Up With Mark Birnbaum” in June.
“Every other day, I do 60 pull-ups, we do 60 dips, we do 100 push-ups,” Foxx said of his preparation for the movie. While his fitness routine has already changed the upper half of his body, the Academy Award-winning actor revealed that they would still need CGI and prosthetic to complete his transformation.
“I ain’t got no calf muscles, so we’re gonna have to get some prosthetics for that,” he shared. He added that he aimed to be 216lbs when filming starts as he plays a younger version of the boxer, and then he will “balloon to 225, 230 which will look like 250 on screen.”

“Every other day, I do 60 pull-ups, we do 60 dips, we do 100 push-ups,” Foxx said of his preparation for the movie. While his fitness routine is already changing the upper half of his body, the Academy Award-winning actor revealed that they would still need CGI and prosthetic to complete his transformation.

The biopic was first announced in 2014, but there wasn’t much progress. However, during the Live conversation, Foxx confirmed that the project is officially happening. “It’s a definitive yes,” he said when asked if the project is moving forward. On the long process to make the movie, he explained, “Look, doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get them done. But we officially got the real ball rolling.”
The “Django Unchained” star also teased what to expect from the film, saying that it aims to depict the “different lives” of the boxing legend. “We want to show, everybody evolves,” he went on dishing. “I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey,” he gushed.
“And then just the technology of how I’m gonna look, I guarantee you people will run up on me in the street, and ask for autographs, and think that I’m Mike,” he added, before showing his pitch-perfect Tyson impression.

It’s currently unknown who will direct the movie. Martin Scorsese was at one point reported to serve behind the lens, but he seems to be no longer on board now.

The ‘Django Unchained’ actor serenades the Black Lives Matter activists with a popular verse from the Bible while joining the protests in San Francisco, California.
    Jun 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jamie Foxx took the microphone at a rally to protest the killing of George Floyd on Monday, June 1, 2020.
The 52-year-old actor attended the protest in San Francisco, California and, while talking to protesters, Jamie sang a popular verse from Isaiah 54:17, “No weapons formed against me, shall prosper, it won’t work. No weapons formed against me shall prosper.”
The actor also said, “If that man can be handcuffed, if that man sit on that man’s neck for that long and feel comfortable about it, that means that he’s not afraid of what’s going to happen,” referring to the police officer, Derek Chauvin, who was responsible for Floyd’s death.

The Oscar winner previously joined former basketball player Stephen Jackson at a Minneapolis City Hall press conference on Friday, and revealed he wanted to stand up for what was right following African-American Floyd’s death.
“We’re not afraid to stand. We’re not afraid of the moment,” the “Ray” star told reporters. “And I think what you saw on television, to watch this man plead for his life… as I sit with my two daughters, my nephews, who had just come from the grocery store, what it does it over complicates everything as a black man trying to tell his son or his daughter how to function in life.”
“Even the things that we taught them don’t seem to work.”
Chauvin, the cop who kneeled on Floyd’s neck, ending his life, has been arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter. The other three cops remain free.
