    Kristen Bell Apologizes for Taking Biracial Role in 'Central Park'

    The ‘Frozen’ actress regrets lending her voice to a mixed-race character in the comedy series, admitting she has a ‘lack of awareness of [her] pervasive privilege.’

    AceShowbiz – Kristen Bell has admitted a “lack of awareness of my pervasive privilege” after taking on the role of a mixed race character on comedy series “Central Park”.
    The “Frozen” star had signed up to voice Molly in the Apple TV+ comedy series, but producers announced on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 that she’d stepped away from the part after she and the team decided that it would be better for a mixed-race actress to the character to life.
    “This is a time to acknowledge our acts of complicity. Here is one of mine,” Kristen wrote on her social media accounts. “Playing the character of Molly on Central Park shows a lack of awareness of my pervasive privilege. Casting a mixed-race character with a white actress undermines the specificity of the mixed-race and Black American experience.”
    “It was wrong and we, on the Central Park team, are pledging to make it right. I am happy to relinquish this role to someone who can give a much more accurate portrayal and I will commit to learning, growing and doing my part for equality and inclusion.”
    Bell will continue to be a part of the show in a new role, while the producers are looking for a new actress to lend her voice to the role of Molly. She will reportedly re-record dialogue Kristen has already recorded for season two.
    News of Kristen’s re-cast comes after Jenny Slate also hit headlines by deciding to step away from another animated show, “Big Mouth”, in which she voices a biracial character.

      AceShowbiz – Dax Shepard is heavily campaigning for the role of “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” star Joe Exotic in a new TV series or big screen project after learning the jailed zoo boss’ ex-husband thinks he’d be perfect for the role.
      Dax’s wife Kristen Bell admits the “CHiPs” star was thrilled to hear John Finlay had endorsed his campaign to grab the part of Joe Exotic, and now the Hollywood couple is doing everything it can to make the dream a reality.
      “Dax would be so thrilled, because we loved that show!” Bell told Entertainment Tonight.
      But she admits there is one snag – Dax has “an actual massive fear of killer animals.”
      “One time, we went to Africa and he was very hesitant in the van to even look out the window when we were on a safari watching the animals,” she explained, “so he said that they’d have to figure out how to CGI big cats. He said, ‘I’m not gonna be doing any stunts with a 600-pound animal.’ ”
      “But he’s very much in. He’s very much campaigning for the role. I think he would be brilliant.”
      Finlay recently told ET he’d like Channing Tatum to portray him in a potential “Tiger King” movie – a casting coup Bell also loves.

      “That’s genius,” she added. “And also, Dax and Channing are very good friends, so they could pull this off easily. They have to do it!”

      AceShowbiz – Kristen Bell will help educate kids on the coronavirus pandemic as she hosts the “#KidsTogether: The Nickelodeon Town Hall” TV special.
      The hour-long show, directly addressing kids’ questions and concerns about COVID-19, will also include tips and insights from medical experts, reports Entertainment Weekly.
      “It’s so important to remember that we are all in this together, and our kids and loved ones need outlets to help them process and understand what’s going on and, most importantly, to still feel connected,” adds the “Frozen II” actress.
      “I hope kids and families come away from this special feeling a little more comfortable and that they enjoy some much-needed moments of humour during this difficult time.”

      The star will connect via video chat with California surgeon general Dr. Nadine Burke Harris and former U.S. surgeon general Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, as well as stars including Charli D’Amelio, Josh Gad, Kel Mitchell, Kenan Thompson, and Ciara and her NFL star husband Russell Wilson.
      Alicia Keys will also perform during the special.
      “#KidsTogether: The Nickelodeon Town Hall” will air on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, and Nicktoons on March 30, and will be available on various on-demand platforms, including Nickelodeon’s official YouTube page.
