AceShowbiz – “Law & Order” creator Dick Wolf has fired a writer on the show’s new spin-off after he made controversial remarks about Black Lives Matter protesters in Los Angeles.
Craig Gore, who also worked on “S.W.A.T.” and “Chicago P.D.”, posted a series of posts on Facebook on Monday, June 01 condemning looters and sharing an image in which he is holding a weapon as a threat to those who disobey the city’s curfew. The statements come as protests continue throughout the country in response to the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed at the hands of white police officers on May 25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Photos on social media show Gore holding a gun with the caption “Curfew…” He also threatened to “light motherf**kers up who are trying to f**k with my property.”
Gore listed himself as a co-executive producer on “Law & Order: Organized Crime”, the new Chris Meloni series being developed at NBC, but Wolf has announced Gore will no longer be involved in the show.
“I will not tolerate this conduct, especially during our hour of national grief. I am terminating Craig Gore immediately,” Dick Wolf said in a statement to Variety.
The news comes as the “S.W.A.T.” writers’ room Twitter account featured a statement calling for “law enforcement to de-escalate conflicts, not exacerbate them.”
