  • Lucy Hale Bummed Season 2 Plans for 'Katy Keene' Will Never Come to Light

    The CW

Describing the first season of the ‘Riverdale’ spin-off as the highlight of her career, the former ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star claims that the cancellation news came at ‘such a horrible day.’
    Aug 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lucy Hale is still struggling to accept the cancellation of her “Riverdale” spin-off, “Katy Keene”, revealing the day the show was yanked was one of her worst ever.
The actress enjoyed a full season run of the drama before bosses at the CW network pulled the plug, while she was preparing for another cycle.
“It is always sad when things come to an end prematurely but in my opinion, I wanted that show to go on for many years and seasons,” she tells E!. “The powers at be had a different plan for it…”
“It was such a horrible day when we found out about it not coming back but seeing the response from everyone being upset and the response of everyone else who supports me was only to show how much the show was loved.”
The 31-year-old is disappointed the vision writers had for season two will never come to light, but she is grateful for the time she had on the show.
“I definitely knew where Katy would go in the second season and all the plans for her, so its always a bummer to see that come to a halt without you wanting it to, but ultimately, I only had amazing things to say about that show and the people and everyone involved in it,” she adds. “It really was a highlight of my career and living in NYC was amazing.”

    Instagram

Offering more details over the time she tried to land the role of Anastasia Steele, the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ actress confesses she ‘didn’t really even know what she was saying.’
    Jul 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lucy Hale has opened up about her “mortifying” experience of auditioning for the role of Anastasia Steele in the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey”.
The “Pretty Little Liars” star put herself forward for the role, which eventually went to Dakota Johnson, in the summer of 2013, when she was still appearing on the teen drama series.
Speaking to the Associated Press, the star recalled: “I was very young. It had to have been, not 10 years ago, it was a while ago and I was mortified.”
“It wasn’t actual scenes from the movie, but it was a very sexually forward monologue and I didn’t really even know what I was saying in the audition,” Lucy, now 31, confessed. “I was a little naive about it all, but yes, I did audition. I obviously didn’t get the part, but it was good for me because it scared the crap out of me to do an audition (like that).”
It’s not the first time Lucy has spoken about the experience – she previously admitted she wouldn’t have been “comfortable with everything that was happening in those movies,” joking: “And my dad would just keel over!”.

    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lucy Hale was reduced to tears on Thursday, July 2 as she reflected on the cancellation of her U.S. TV series “Katy Keene”.
The former “Pretty Little Liars” star took on the title role in the “Riverdale” spin-off, but bosses at network The CW announced on Thursday that they wouldn’t be renewing it for a second season.
Following the news, Lucy took to her Instagram page to tell fans the programme had been, “one of the highlights of my life,” and a, “joy from top to bottom”.
“This is a job that has broken my heart multiple times… It will take some time to get over it,” Lucy said, admitting the video was one of several takes as she’d been a “blubbering mess”.
“I just wanted you all to hear that the show is not coming back and that sucks, but I’ll hold my head high. Who knows what I’ll do next. We’ll see,” she concluded.

Despite the cancellation, Deadline reported that Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind the show, is looking for a new home for the series. According to the website, the best option is HBO Max, as “Katy Keene” is already streamed on the service.
Options on the cast had previously been extended until July 31, which means Warner Bros. has until then to find a new network for the show. After that, the actors and crew involved in the show will be allowed to look for new jobs.

Lucy Hale 'Way Too Protective' to Have 'Pretty Little Liars' Brought Back Without Her

    ABC Family

The Aria Montgomery depicter hopes she will be involved as a producer if the popular teen drama mystery thriller television series is revived with a whole new cast one day.
    May 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Lucy Hale would love to see a spin-off series based on her hit U.S. TV show “Pretty Little Liars” – as long as she’s brought onboard to produce it.
The star is set to reunite with cast mates Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, Tyler Blackburn, Ian Harding, Shay Mitchell, Janel Parrish, and Sasha Pieterse for an upcoming Covid-19 fundraising livestream for non-profit Feeding America on Friday, May 15, 2020.
In a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Lucy said the virtual gathering was “a no-brainer,” as all of the stars have plenty of free time while stuck in lockdown, and she went on to muse over the future of the franchise – which she’s sure will be revived.
“We’re in a quarantine that we thought would last a couple weeks. Anything is possible at this point,” she said of a potential big screen project. “I don’t rule anything out, (but) I feel like we’d need a little more time to pass. I feel like we would get more out of it if we were, like, 10 years down the road.”
Lucy continued, “I feel like they’re gonna do a spinoff or something before then. I don’t know. I’m so protective of this show So I feel like when the time comes that they want to do it with a whole new cast, I might have to produce it because I’m way too protective of it.”
The actress played Aria Montgomery in the teen drama series, about a group of friends being stalked by a mysterious figure named “A” who threatens to expose their deepest secrets.
The “Pretty Little Liars” reunion event, hosted through Cast4Good, kicks off Friday at 3 P.M. ET. Check out the stream here.
