Maluma's Meet and Greet Event Shut Down by Cops Amid Pandemic

The event to promote Maluma’s new mini album ‘7 Dias en Jamaica’ at an art gallery in Miami has been shut down by law enforcement because of Covid-19 concerns.

    Feb 4, 2021
AceShowbiz – A meet and greet session with Maluma in Miami on Tuesday (02Feb21) was shut down by police for violating COVID-19 protocols.
The “Parce” star was promoting his new album “7 Dias en Jamaica” at an art gallery in Wynwood and took to Instagram ahead of the event to encourage fans to come and see him.
“I WANT TO SEE YOU AND TAKE MANY PICTURES OF US !! (Wear face masks),” he wrote in Spanish.

However, as he pulled up to the event and stuck his head out of his car’s sunroof, the vehicle was immediately swarmed by hundreds of fans, all clamouring to take snaps of the Colombian star.
Once inside the gallery, Maluma greeted around 160 fans, who entered in groups of 10. However, the Miami Police Department said that despite the fact that the majority of people – the singer included – were wearing face masks and observing social distancing, the event still wasn’t safe amid the pandemic, and shut it down.
Following the police involvement, Maluma returned to his Instagram page to share a video in Spanish about officers shutting down the event, and told fans he’s planning to make another appearance later this week.
A mini album with seven tracks, “#7DJ” came out less than a year after he dropped his fifth studio album “Papi Juancho” last year.
At the beginning of pandemic before releasing an album, Maluma was forced to cut short his world tour due to lockdown.

  • Artist of the Week: Maluma

    Instagram

The 26-year-old Colombian star hits the summit on multiple Billboard Latin charts with new single ‘Hawaii’ taken from his fifth studio installment ‘Papi Juancho’.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Maluma challenged himself during the making of his new music and it paid off. Most of the tracks in his fifth studio album “Papi Juancho” were recorded during the coronavirus lockdown. “This album has so much of my true essence; because I did so much of it alone,” he revealed to Billboard in an interview.
Among the three singles released from the new album, “Hawaii” is the one climbing the highest on the charts. While the 26-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter is inconsolable as he channels his inner broken heart in the single, he is actually far from distraught in real life as the track is soaring high.
Produced by Medellin duo The Rude Boyz, the song jumped from the second place to occupy the top spot on Billboard Hot Latin Songs and hit the pinnacle on Latin Digital Song Sales, rising from the third position. It also reached the fourth place on Billboard Global 200 as well as US Latin Airplay.

“Hawaii” was the first single he picked for his new album. “I fell in love with the intro chorus,” he explained. “It was one of the few songs I recorded before Covid. And it’s a very real song, very from the heart, with good lyrics, and good content. Truth is, I get bored of the same old reggaeton. It’s good to add lyrical content to the songs.”
The song, contrary to rumors, was not inspired by any of the singer’s past relationships, but he understood many people suffered from heartbreak and needed to vent their feelings. “I wanted to make this song because I know that many of us feel identified. But that wasn’t because it happened to me,” he said.
The song started gathering new steam following his solid performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. Maluma took the stage overlooking the East River in a drive-in set. Immediately after his performance, he was announced as a winner for Best Latin Video, thanks to his 2019 “Que Pena” music video featuring J Balvin.

Maluma Postpones Milan Concert, Lacuna Coil Axe Tour Dates Over Coronavirus Fears

    Instagram

The ‘Corazon’ singer reschedules the Italian stop of his ’11:11 World Tour’, while the gothic metal band pulls out of Asia and Australia concerts that include the Download Festival.
    Mar 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Latin superstar Maluma and heavy rockers Lacuna Coil have become the latest artists to cancel concerts in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
Maluma is currently on the road with his “11:11 World Tour”, but he will no longer be performing in Milan, Italy on Saturday (March 07), opting to postpone the gig until 31 March, according to Billboard.com.
At present, no other live dates have been scrapped or pushed back.
Meanwhile, Italian goth metal stars Lacuna Coil have pulled a string of upcoming concerts in Asia and Australia, including the Download Festival stops in Melbourne and Sydney on 20 and 21 March, and Canadian rockers Wolf Parade have nixed their booked events across Europe and the U.K.

“It would be both globally irresponsible and potentially risky for the band to carry out the tour at this time,” the group shared in a statement posted on Facebook.
“We did not arrive at this decision easily, but in the end, the band and our team all agree it is the right and responsible decision. We hope you understand.”

Other musicians to rethink tour dates as the coronavirus continues to spread include Avril Lavigne, BTS (Bangtan Boys), New Order, and Green Day.
The coronavirus has claimed over 3,000 lives so far, with more than 90,000 people infected worldwide.
