Mariah Carey to Get Another Apple TV Plus' Christmas Special in 2021

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want For Christmas is You’ hitmaker has been forced to scale back on her 2020 special due to COVID-19 restrictions, but still manages to bring in Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson.

    Dec 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey is in talks to make a follow-up to her Apple TV+ Christmas special.
The singer was forced to scale back on a big-budget spectacular due to COVID restrictions, but the show still featured A-list guests like Ariana Grande, Snoop Dogg, and Jennifer Hudson, and Mariah is now hoping to host another Christmas special without any financial restrictions.
A source tells The Sun on Sunday newspaper, “Mariah created the Christmas special for Apple as a one-off but it was a runaway hit. No one could have predicted its success and it went to number one in their charts in over 100 countries.”

“Bosses at Apple now want to secure her for another special show next year. Mariah’s team are, of course, completely behind it and everyone is going to do what they can to make it happen.
“They spent over £4 million on this year’s show but next year this could go even higher. Apple know the worth of Mariah and are willing to splash the cash to make a follow-up even bigger and better.”
Meanwhile, the “All I Want For Christmas is You” singer was delighted she was able to bring so many big stars together for the 2020 show: “I was so excited to work with so many incredible artists and just really try to bring this to life.”
Prior to this, it was reported that Mariah’s Christmas special cost $5.2 million to produce. “Mariah does nothing by half and the special was created with huge production values,” an insider revealed. “Her styling alone, including hair and make-up, cost more than $165,000 (£125,000), let alone the other $26,000 (£20,000) that she racked up in expenses and costs. But everyone who knows Mariah knows she’s worth every penny.”

Rumor has it, the ‘All I Want to Christmas Is You’ hitmaker has spent more than $5 million to produce her newly-released star-studded festive television special.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey reportedly spent $5.2 million (£4 million) on her Apple TV+ Christmas special.
The chart-topping singer is said to have spent an eye-watering amount of money on the star-studded special, which features appearances from the likes of Ariana Grande and Snoop Dogg.
“Mariah wanted her Apple TV special to blow everything else out of the water,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “And it did just that – not only in the reviews and ratings but in the budget. Overall it cost £4 million to make, with cash being spent on securing the big names.”

Mariah was determined not to cut any corners with her special and was therefore willing to commit a huge amount of money to ensure it was as she’d hoped it would be.
“Mariah does nothing by half and the special was created with huge production values,” the insider continued. “Her styling alone, including hair and make-up, cost more than $165,000 (£125,000), let alone the other $26,000 (£20,000) that she racked up in expenses and costs. But everyone who knows Mariah knows she’s worth every penny.”
The special was released earlier this month (Dec20) and has already reached number one in the Apple TV+ Charts in 100 countries around the world.
Jennifer Hudson, Jermaine Dupri, Ballet dancer Misty Copeland, comedian Billy Eichner, and “Mixed-ish” child star Mykal-Michelle Harris also made appearances along with Marey’s nine-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. Meanwhile, Tiffany Haddish narrated the trailer.

Mariah Carey Teases She's Giving Away Snoop Dogg 'A Very Specific Christmas Idea'

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ hitmaker has teamed up with the ‘Gin and Juice’ rapper for her new Apple TV-plus special which also features her twins Moroccan and Monroe.

    Dec 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey’s festive hook-up with Snoop Dogg has inspired a “Christmas idea” the singer is keen to pitch to her new rapper pal.
The pair teamed up for Carey’s new Apple TV+ special, which debuts on Friday, December 4, and she admits Snoop brought something very special to the holiday spectacular.
“He did his part, it’s my new thing,” she tells Billboard. “I’m living for it. I’m waiting to hear back from Snoop about a very specific Christmas idea that I have for him, and I’m giving it away… I didn’t even talk to him about it.”

“I’m not gonna say what he was wearing, but he inspired a notion in me that I’m ready for the world to learn about. That’s a big thing… I wish someone would have suggested this to me, but I can’t do it. He’s more well-suited to do this.”
Mariah refused to elaborate further but reveals her twins Moroccan and Monroe will be joining mum for the TV special, and that has inspired her to consider releasing a song they recorded when they were younger.
“I actually recorded a song with them when they were six that we didn’t release and they were like, ‘Why didn’t we release that?'” Carey adds. “It was so cute, because it was when Rocky (Moroccan) had an accent – well not an accent, but couldn’t really pronounce certain letters yet – and they’re both singing on it. So one of these days I need to be encouraged to release that, but there’s just other stuff going on.”
“I wanted to do more with them in terms of performance, but they’re definitely up onstage, they’re acting in it. So I love that. I loved incorporating them into this festive world that we created.”

  • Mariah Carey Teases 'Exciting' Movie Comeback

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ hitmaker hints at her upcoming comeback to the big screen, three years since the songstress was signed on for a feature film.
    Oct 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey looks set to return to the big screen after teasing “very exciting” talks with film industry pals.
The “Loverboy” singer attempted to crack Hollywood back in 2001 with her semi-autobiographical flick “Glitter” but, following a poor critical response and a release around the time of the 11 September attacks on the World Trade Center, it was labelled a flop.
However, that doesn’t seem to have deterred the star who, in a chat with BBC Radio 2’s Trevor Nelson, teased a potential return to the silver screen.
“I’ve been having some conversations with some very creative friends of mine who may or may not be in the world of film and that’s a very exciting prospect,” she teased.

While Mariah didn’t elaborate on the discussions, she’s no doubt been compelled to revisit a potential movie career following a revived interest in “Glitter” in recent years. Most notably, a #JusticeForGlitter social media campaign saw the record top the U.S. iTunes album chart in 2018.
The “Shake It Off” star didn’t reveal whether she would be in the movie or whether her involvement would be based primarily behind the camera.
Mariah Carey was last seen on the big screen in 2017 when she made a cameo appearance as herself in a comedy movie “Girls Trip” starring Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Regina Hall.
In the same year, she provided voice to the animated movies “The Lego Batman Movie” and “The Star”. She additionally narrated a direct-to-video Christmas cartoon movie based on her festive classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You”.

  • Mariah Carey May Have a Collaboration With Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson Coming Soon

    WENN/Apega/Michael Boardman

It is all because the ‘When You Believe’ singer shares on social media a photo showing on-set director’s chairs with the initials of the three songstresses on the back.
    Oct 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Now that the end of the year is fast approaching, so does the holiday season. And when it comes to Christmas, of course it’s gotta be Mariah Carey. The New York diva recently teased her upcoming “Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas”, which is going to be streamed on Apple TV, and it’d seemingly feature Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson.
It is all because of the recent photo Mariah uploaded on social media to tease her upcoming release. In the photo, people could see three chairs with the three singers’ own initials written on it as Mariah captioned the snap with a Christmas tree emoji. This made people suspect that her new collaboration will feature Ariana and Jennifer.

Unsurprisingly enough, people went wild over the possibility. “OMG IF THIS IS ARIANA MARIAH AND JHUD I WILL CRY,” one person was so excited s/he wrote in all-caps. “not an Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson collab…..20th #1 incoming,” another was equally hyped, even predicting that the “Hero” singer will have another No. 1 song on Billboard’s Hot 100 due to this collaboration.
Meanwhile, an individual compared it to Mariah’s collaboration with Whitney Houston, “When You Believe”. The said person commented, “SCREAMING. THIS IS A WHITNEY + MARIAH moment but in modern day, with Mariah….. Iconic.” Someone else chimed in, “Yall…if AG stands for Ariana Grande I may actually pass out! Like full out faint! It would be the moment we all never thought we would get…also JH has to be Jennifer Hudson! I’m shaking!”
Should the speculation be true, it would really put feud rumors between Ariana and Mariah to rest. Previous reports suggested that the two singers were not on good terms since people kept comparing them with each other. Mariah’s ex, Nick Cannon, previously said of their beef in an interview, “This is what Mariah hates, and Ariana made the cardinal mistake of saying–or I don’t even know if it was her–but, it was associated. It was like, ‘the next’ or ‘the new’ Mariah Carey. [And she’s like] ‘The f**k does that mean?’ I’m the Mariah Carey, why do you need another one? Why do you need the next one?'”
