    Jul 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey kicked off celebrations to mark her 30th year in music in style on Friday (17Jul20) with the release of an EP featuring one of her first-ever live performances.
The “We Belong Together” singer announced on her social media channels earlier this week that she would be marking the 30th anniversary of her self-titled debut album by sharing “surprises and rarities” online every Friday, beginning this week.
She previously delayed the celebrations, which were planned for last month, amid the global Black Lives Matter protests.
On Thursday evening, Mariah headed online to reveal the first drop – a recording of one of her earlier live recordings from Club Tatou in New York City.
“We don’t acknowledge numbers, but we do acknowledge when it’s time for a celebratory moment,” she penned, alongside a clip of her explaining the addition of the Aretha Franklin classic, “Don’t Play That Song (You Lied)” in the set. “To kick off #MC30, one of my very first live performances (from Club Tatou in NYC) is now available as a digital EP! Disclaimer: the olive green crushed velvet ensemble was not my choice!”
She added, “Stay tuned every Friday for a fun #MC30 surprise… some remixes, some live performances, some b-sides and many more… all of them rarities, dahhling!”
The EP is available to download and stream across major platforms now.

  • Mariah Carey Stuns 'Schitt's Creek' Cast With Surprise Appearance During 2020 Graduation Special

    Instagram

Aside from jumping into the cast’s performance of ‘Hero’, the ‘Heartbreaker’ hitmaker sings a few lines of ‘Always Be My Baby’ for Dan Levy’s David Rose character.
    Jun 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey made a surprise appearance on the “Schitt’s Creek” cast’s performance of her iconic tune “Hero”, as part of YouTube’s Dear Class of 2020 graduation special on Sunday, June 07.
Dan Levy, his on and off-screen father Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy reprised their roles as the Rose family to share a rendition of the classic song as a thank you to the teachers who helped the 2020 students graduate despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The quartet was joined by a host of their co-stars, including Dan’s on-screen husband Patrick, played by actor Noah Reid, and Emily Hampshire’s character Stevie Budd.
As the group kicked off their Zoom performance, they made it through to the last line of the song, when Mariah herself jumped on to deliver the last line.
“Moira, darling, I hope you didn’t mind that I jumped in like that,” Carey said, referencing Catherine’s on-screen alter ego, actress Moira Rose. “You all sounded so good that I had to get in on it.”
Clearly stunned at the appearance of his hero, Dan, in character as David Rose, screamed, “I think I’m having a heart attack!”
Mariah then shared her own message to those watching the YouTube special, telling them, “To the students who had to deal with this bleak moment, congratulations on this historic accomplishment. To all the students and teachers, you are so appreciated. And I just want to say, Class of 2020, you made it!”

Mariah concluded her appearance by singing a few lines of her tune “Always Be My Baby” – the song Patrick sings to David as they wed in the finale of the hit show – leading David to pass out and scream from the floor, “I love you!”

Upon learning that her 2008 album has returned to the download chart, the ‘Touch My Body’ hitmaker asks devotees to send requests from the album for her to perform as a celebration.
    Apr 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey fans helped get her 2008 album “E=MC2” back to the top of the U.S. iTunes Album Chart thanks to a hashtag campaign on Twitter.
Carey’s fans have frequently used social media to get the diva’s previous releases back in the charts – back in 2018, the #JusticeForGlitter trend saw the star’s soundtrack album top the U.S. iTunes rundown, while the singers fanbase – known as the Lambily – also rallied to get her holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas is You” to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 last year – giving Carey her 19th U.S. number one.
On Monday, April 27, fans once again scored a success, seeing “E=MC2”, which topped the Billboard 200 upon its initial release and spawned hits including “Touch My Body” and “Bye Bye”, back to the top of the download chart.

Upon waking up to the news, Mariah wrote on Twitter, “What is going on?????” along with a string of various emojis. She added, “So OVERWHELMED by this moment! Thank you #lambily for always lifting my spirits and giving me life.. Love you forever.”

Mariah Carey to Honor First Responders at Joel Osteen's Easter Sunday Service Amid Covid-19 Crisis

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ hitmaker is going to dedicate her performance to the medical workers and frontliners amid the coronavirus pandemic.
    Apr 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey will dedicate her “Hero” classic to first responders in the coronavirus pandemic as part of U.S. televangelist Joel Osteen’s virtual Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 service.
The R&B icon will virtually join rapper Kanye West and actor/director Tyler Perry for Osteen’s remote holiday worship, which will be livestreamed from his Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, and the preacher reveals Mariah personally reached out to offer up her talents.
“I’ve known Mariah from years past and she wanted to do something to honour the first responders,” Osteen told syndicated columnist Allison Kugel.
“She called and asked if we could do something together, and of course I thought it would be great. She wants to sing her song, Hero, which she’ll do from her apartment in New York. We’ll put footage of the first responders (onscreen) over her song.”
“She has a real heart to say thank you to people,” he gushed, “and so we thought it would work with our other segments. She’s an amazing lady, too, so it just kind of fell into place.”
A pre-recorded message from Perry will also air during the service, which Osteen hopes will help to boost his congregation’s spirits.
“He’s spoken here at Lakewood Church before, and people love him,” the 57 year old explained. “I just kind of wanted something special this Easter season, during these times that are so uncertain. So, he made us a five-minute video. He’s very warm and inspiring.”
And Osteen’s new pal Kanye will also play a key part in the online religious gathering, providing music for the big event from his home in Los Angeles – although the pastor isn’t sure yet what the segment will entail.
He shared, “Kanye West texted me just a few days ago and said, ‘What are you all doing for Easter?’ I asked him if he wanted to do something together, and he said, ‘Yes, I would like to get my choir involved.’ I said, ‘Absolutely, let’s do it.’ ”
“So, he’s working on that end. I don’t know what it’s all going to be, but he’s going to do something with social distancing and all the right things.”
The Easter Sunday service will be broadcast over Osteen’s megachurch feed at his official website at both 9.30 A.M. EST and 12 P.M. EST.

Mariah Carey and The Neptunes' Induction to Songwriters Hall of Fame Delayed to 2021

    Instagram

As the coronavirus continues to wreak havoc around the world, the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s 51st Annual Induction and Awards Gala gets postponed one year to June 10.
    Apr 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey, the Eurythmics and The Neptunes will have to wait until next year (21) to celebrate their inductions into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as the coronavirus chaos continues.
The stars, alongside Steve Miller, Rick Nowels and Motown icon William Stevenson, were all due to be inducted into the institution at a special ceremony in New York in June, but the event has since been postponed until 2021.
In a statement issued on Tuesday (March 31), SHOF President and CEO, Linda Moran, wrote, “In facing the reality of the future being unknown and the extraordinary number of schedules which would have to be rearranged, although sad and very disappointing, it seemed to be more prudent and in the best interests and well-being of everyone, especially our inductees, honorees, and guests to move the 2020 class of inductees and honorees in its entirety to next year’s gala when they can be truly celebrated.”
Added SHOF Chairman Nile Rodgers, “We talk all the time about great songs making the world a better place but that’s never been more true than at challenged times like these which are unprecedented.”
“The wonderful songs that members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame have created are currently bringing comfort to billions of people all over the world in their time of uncertainty and need and that is something I believe we can all find gratitude in. We are family, please be safe.”

The Songwriters Hall of Fame’s 51st Annual Induction & Awards Gala will now take place on 10 June, 2021.
In addition to the Class of 2020 salute, “We’ve Only Just Begun” composer and lyricist Paul Williams will receive the prestigious Johnny Mercer Award, and Universal Music Publishing Chairman and CEO, Jody Gerson, will be presented with the Abe Olman Publisher Award at the rescheduled ceremony.

Mariah Carey Pulls the Plug on Hawaii Concert Due to Coronavirus

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ hitmaker apologizes after she is forced to postpone her upcoming show in Hawaii amid concerns over the ongoing coronavirus threats.
    Mar 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey has pulled a concert in Hawaii over fears surrounding the spread of the coronavirus.
Since it emerged in China in December 2019, the virus has sparked outbreaks across the world, prompting governments to impose travel and event restrictions and artists including Stormzy, Avril Lavigne, Halsey, and BTS to cancel or postpone gigs.
Mariah is the latest performer to have a date fall victim to the disease announcing she is postponing next Tuesday’s March 10, 2020 performance at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu due to travel restrictions and fears for her fans’ safety.
“Aloha Hawaii!! I’m so so sad to have to announce that I’m postponing my show to November,” she wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “I was so excited to come back to Hawaii on my ‘anniversary month’ but evolving international travel restrictions force us to consider everyone’s safety and well being.”
Postponing the show until November, she revealed she will instead perform one of her Christmas shows in the Pacific Ocean state.
The pop diva added, “I am SUPER excited to be coming to Honolulu in November and perform my special All I Want for Christmas Is You & Hits extravaganza for the first time ever in Hawaii! I can’t wait to see you! Stay safe!!”
The virus has now infected more than 94,000 across the world, killing more than 3,000, and its spread has put everything from film releases to concerts and sports events in jeopardy due to fears of a global pandemic.

Mariah Carey Concludes Las Vegas Residency Amid Struggle to Sell Tickets

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ hitmaker ends her ‘The Butterfly Returns’ residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace right on schedule even though ‘she’s not selling out like she used to.’
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey’s Las Vegas residency came to an end, but not on a high note. The “All I Want For Christmas Is You” hitmaker concluded her “The Butterfly Returns” residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Saturday, February 29 amid reports she struggled to sell its tickets.
For the final show, the 49-year-old singer rocked a plunging black leotard with a detachable black skirt. At one point, she removed the skirt to reveal a pair of nude fishnet tights and matching platform heels. She wore her long blonde locks down and showed off her beauty through glam palette of makeup. She was also seen donning a classy pink gown for the stint.
While the “Touch My Body” singer delivered stunning performance, her residency apparently didn’t fare well in the ticket department. According to Radar Online, she gave free tickets to selected people in order to make sure “sold out” shows even though the highest ticket for her residency was sold for an average of $100.
“Every high roller and whale who’s flying into Vegas is being given free tickets to her show,” a source told the outlet. “They’re being handed out at sports books, included in room service bills and slipped under doors all over the hotel. That’s why she wanted a residency and not a tour – because she’s not selling out like she used to.”
“The Butterfly Returns” residency was a follow-up to Carey’s #1 to Infinity residency which lasted from 2015 to 2017. First launched in July 2018, it got extended for additional February 2019 dates a few months later. Its latest run was for eight February 2020 dates. Radar Online claimed that ticket sales had been low since the beginning, forcing her to sell them at discount sites back in 2018.
Carey’s next move will be headlining Britain’s world famous Brighton Pride event. On Valentine’s Day, organizers confirmed that she will perform at the LGBTQ+ event in August. Their announcement tweet read, “Excited to announce global superstar @MariahCarey, GRAMMY & GLAAD Award winner, and best-selling female artist of all time, will headline FABULOSO Pride In The Park on Saturday 1st August 2020 with a full 75 minute show!”
