    Meghan Trainor Calls Comedy Series Deal With NBC 'A Dream Come True'

    The ‘All About That Bass’ singer has signed with NBCUniversal Television and Streaming Entertainment bosses to develop and star in her own sitcom in addition to other potential projects.

    New mum Meghan Trainor has scored a dream-come-true deal to develop and star in her own sitcom. The “All About That Bass” singer has signed with NBCUniversal Television and Streaming Entertainment bosses for a comedy series, according to Variety.

    Meghan’s deal will also include other potential projects across scripted and unscripted content for U.S. outlets, including Bravo, E!, Oxygen and NBCU’s new streaming site Peacock.

    “In addition to being a phenomenally talented performer, Meghan is a vibrant and hilarious ray of light who is the perfect fit for NBC’s brand,” NBCUniversal chairman Susan Rovner says. “We love the idea of introducing Meghan into the world of scripted comedy as well as working with her to find all the creative and crazy ways she can engage with fans across our brands.”

    Meghan has called the deal “so beyond a dream come true,” adding, “I’m obsessed with and inspired by Susan and can’t wait to work with her and her incredibly talented team to bring our ideas to life.”

    Sharing her excitement over the deal online, the “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” singer posted a screenshot of Variety’s article. Along with it, she wrote, “2021 so far: became a mom and joined the incredible @nbc family! let’s goooo! @peacocktv @bravotv @eentertainment @usa_network @SYFY @oxygen thank you to Susan Rovner and my amazing team for making this happen.”

    The news comes just over a month after Meghan welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Riley.

    Plot details surrounding the singer’s new comedy series have not been released and there’s no word if it will feature her actor husband Daryl Sabara.

      The ‘Al About That Bass’ hitmaker wants to become ‘princess of Christmas’ with ‘A Very Trainor Christmas’ while her idol Mariah Carey remains the queen of the jolly holiday.

      AceShowbiz – Meghan Trainor is hoping her new collection of holiday tunes bumps her to the top of the festive hits tree, but she doesn’t want to topple her heroine, Mariah Carey, as the Queen of Christmas.
      The pregnant star recorded “A Very Trainor Christmas” as the COVID lockdown set in with her brothers Ryan and Justin, and dropped the album in October (20).
      And she admits she had Mariah on her mind throughout. “With the covers, I was like, ‘What songs do I know I’m capable of singing?’ ” she tells Billboard. “I’m not Mariah Carey, you know? She’s the queen.”
      “There were jokes that she’s the queen of Christmas, and I was like, ‘I just want to be princess of Christmas!’ ”

      Meghan just hopes her songs are helping cheer up depressed fans. “There is a light at the end of the tunnel,” she says. “Things will and can get better. Just hang in there and stay positive. Have a little joy in your life, and put on this Christmas album.”
      Meanwhile, Meghan admits Christmas has always been a big deal for her family.
      Speaking to Philadelphia’s B101.1 radio, she added, “A lot of people feel bad for me because my birthday’s December 22, but it was always the best for me. Not only did I get Christmas; I also got my birthday.”
      “In my world it was the best month of all time. You would get let out of school. I was like, ‘I truly won.’ I’m so lucky that I was born on this day.
      “Growing up in Nantucket, my dad always got real trees. I remember the pain that was and how annoying it was to have a real tree. So nowadays, as an adult, I have a lot of dogs – I don’t want them to eat the needles – so we’ve got fake trees this year. But as a kid, my dad would decorate the whole entire house and it was so special and I just remember growing up, having all the Christmas tree lightings downtown. It was huge for us growing up.”

      AceShowbiz – Meghan Trainor is stepping down as a coach on “The Voice UK” after confirming she is pregnant with her first child.
      The “All About That Bass” singer, 26, confirmed the happy news that she is expecting with husband Daryl Sabara, 28, on Wednesday (07Oct20), admitting the pair are “so excited we couldn’t sleep” before sharing their joy on America’s “Today” show.
      While the impending arrival has brought happiness to the couple, it’s bad news for fans of the hit TV talent contest, after the star confirmed she won’t be returning to her big red chair alongside Tom Jones, will.i.am, and Olly Murs for its forthcoming 10th season.
      She said, “I had such a great time being a Coach on the Voice UK and spending time with everyone! I wish I could come back for Season 10, but I’m taking time to start my family and want to be really safe with the current travel restrictions.”

      “I’ll be missing you all very much and hope to see you soon,” added Meghan, who is due to release her new holiday album, “A Very Trainor Christmas”, on 30 October (20).
      A spokesperson for “The Voice U.K.” commented, “Huge congratulations to Meghan on the wonderful news she is expecting her first child. Meghan has been a fantastic coach on The Voice UK and we look forward to seeing Meghan return for the end of Series 9, coming soon to ITV.”

      Meghan will be seen on-screen in the semi-final and final of series nine of the show, which was postponed earlier this year due to Covid-19 restrictions. She will join virtually from Los Angeles with the episodes airing later this month (Oct20) on U.K. network ITV.
