  • Robbie Amell Forced to 'Get Back Into Shape' Ahead of Shirtless Role in 'Babysitter' Sequel

    WENN

The Firestorm of CW’s ‘The Flash’ admits he was concerned about being out of shape as he had to appear shirtless the entire time in ‘The babysitter: Killer Queen’.
    Sep 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Robbie Amell had to hit the gym before filming his new movie “The Babysitter: Killer Queen” – in which he’s shirtless the entire time.
The sequel, which is now streaming on Netflix, features Robbie reprising his role as Max from the 2017 original. And according to the 32 year old, he knew before he even read the script he’d have to start working out.
“I kind of figured that… I didn’t think I was gaining a shirt from one to two,” Robbie told TooFab.
The new dad admitted he did “have to worry about being a father and getting back into shape… The second I found out we were doing a sequel I was like, ‘Alright, I better start working out a little bit.’ ”
According to Robbie, there was one scene where director McG planned on putting the star in a shirt, but then suggested he go shirtless for the sake of continuity.
“I was like, ‘Nope… McG, it’s way funnier, I think we earned it, no shirt,’ ” he said. “He thought it was hilarious, we put the name tag directly to my skin. That’s just kind of what this movie is. It’s self aware and we always want to have a good time.”
The first 2017 teen comedy horror film also starred Samara Weaving, Judah Lewis, Hana Mae Lee, and Bella Thorne – all of whom return for the new instalment.

  • Andrew Lloyd Webber Promises to Bring Back 'Phantom of the Opera' Following Covid-19 Shutdown

    WENN

The famed theater composer vows to revive his ‘Phantom of the Opera’ musical on the West End after the play was forced to close due to the coronavirus crisis.
    Sep 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has promised fans his “Phantom of the Opera” musical will sing again on London’s West End after it was forced to shutter by the coronavirus pandemic.
Most theatres across the U.K. have remained closed since the start of the global health crisis, and in July (20), producer Cameron Mackintosh suggested the curtain had come down on Phantom of the Opera for the final time, ending a record 34-year run.
However, the theatre mogul is determined to bring the production back to the West End stage at its longtime home of Her Majesty’s Theatre, which he has owned since 2000.
On Friday (11Sep20), Lloyd Webber took fans on a virtual tour of the empty theatre to show them the space, which had its stage sets torn down and its seats removed, although he explained it was all done as part of renovation plans, which would allow him to give the “Phantom of the Opera” scenery a complete revamp, while remaining true to the vision of the musical’s original director, the late Hal Prince.
“Well, this is the stage of Her Majesty’s Theatre, where Phantom should be playing,” he said in the video, posted to his Twitter page.
“It will be playing again, if I’ve got anything to do with it, as soon as possible. But everything had to be taken away and ripped out, primarily, actually, because it was time to rethink some of the scenery, in a good way.”
“I mean, a lot of it had got (sic) quite old, but I promise you, it’ll be the Hal Prince production that comes back in its entirety, hopefully even bigger and better, because, as you all know, I’m a great fan of Hal Prince, and he was, in my view, one of the greatest directors that Broadway or theatre ever had, and I certainly want to honour his memory as much as possible…”
Lloyd Webber, who has been calling on British government officials to do more to save the crumbling arts industry in the wake of COVID-19, admits seeing his venue completely empty day after day is heartbreaking.
“All we wanna do is to be allowed to open again, that’s all we want,” he shared.
“Sometimes it makes me almost cry to think that this is a theatre and a theatre is about live experience and it’s about people coming and actors giving an audience an experience that that particular audience is the only time that that experience will happen, because every performance is different.”

Concluding his digital tour, the composer vowed, “One thing I do promise everybody, so long as I have anything to do with theatre, Phantom will be back and it will be back with the Hal Prince production, with the Gillian Lynne choreography, Maria Bjornson’s fabulous scenery, and hopefully some of my music. Who knows?”

The forthcoming project about the ‘Suspicious Minds’ hitmaker, which is set to resume filming in Australia after COVID-19 shutdown, has Austin Butler and Tom Hanks in the cast ensemble.
    Sep 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Luke Bracey is heading to Australia to join the cast of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic as the rock legend’s best friend, Jerry Schilling.
Austin Butler is portraying The King in the forthcoming project, with Tom Hanks set to play his manager Colonel Tom Parker, and now “Hacksaw Ridge” star Bracey has been added to the line-up, reports Variety.
Schilling became one of the “Suspicious Minds” hitmaker’s closest friends after playing American football together as kids, and he was a fixture in his entourage before becoming a music manager for a variety of acts, including The Beach Boys, Jerry Lee Lewis and even Elvis’ daughter, singer Lisa Marie Presley, later in life.
Alex Pettyfer previously portrayed Schilling in 2016’s movie “Elvis & Nixon”.
Also featured in Luhrmann’s first feature film since 2013’s “The Great Gatsby” are Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rufus Sewell, who have been cast as Elvis’ parents, Gladys and Vernon.
Pre-production in Queensland, Australia had to be paused back in March when Hanks and his wife, actress/singer Rita Wilson, contracted COVID-19 as the pandemic shut down the global entertainment industry for months.
Cast and crew are now set to kick off filming on September 23.

Netflix signs the lucrative contract to secure the global rights to distribute the Oscar winner’s movie on the eve of its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.
    Sep 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Halle Berry has been left “speechless” after scoring a $20 million (£15.6 million) deal with Netflix chiefs to distribute her directorial debut, “Bruised”.
The actress both stars in and directs the new drama, in which she portrays an embattled mixed martial arts fighter seeking redemption, and on the eve of its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada on Saturday (September 12), Netflix bosses signed a lucrative contract to secure the global rights to the movie, which is screening as a work-in-progress, according to Deadline.
Taking to social media after the news emerged on Friday, Berry tweeted, “I am speechless. Thank you @netflix for believing in my vision, cannot wait for y’all to finally see #BruisedTheMovie.”

Halle Berry reacted to her $20 million deal with Netflix for ‘Bruised’.
The Oscar winner recently revealed how she pushed through the pain of two broken ribs sustained on set to complete filming so as not to delay the production.
“I didn’t want to stop because I had prepared for so long,” she told Variety. “We had rehearsed; we were ready. So my mind, my director’s mind, was just – keep going. And I compartmentalised that, and I just kept going: ‘I’m not going to stop. I’ve come too far. I’m going to act as if this isn’t hurting. I’m going to will myself through it.’ And so we did.”

An official release date for “Bruised” has yet to be set.

  • Chris Hemsworth Denies Rumors About His Retirement After 'Thor: Love and Thunder'

    Marvel Studios

The God of Thunder depicter assures fans that he will not leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon, saying that he’s excited to star in the upcoming Taika Waititi-directed movie.
    Sep 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Hemsworth is not ready to leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet. Responding to the swirling rumors that he has planned retirement after completing “Thor: Love and Thunder”, the actor best known for his portrayal of the God of Thunder set the record straight on his future with the blockbuster film franchise.
The 37-year-old actor opened up about the matter in an interview with Poland’s Elle Man magazine, which was published on Friday, September 11. Asked about the truth behind the rumors of him leaving, he stated, “I am not going into any retirement period. Thor is way too young for that. He’s only 1,500 years old! It is definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”
During the chat, the husband of Elsa Pataky also confessed that he is looking forward to the filming of the fourth “Thor” film after reading the script. “After reading the script, I can say that I am very excited,” he stated. “For sure there will be a lot of love and a lot of lightning in this production. I’m glad that after all that happened in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ I’m still part of the Marvel Universe and we can continue the story of Thor.”
The father of three also claimed that the screenplay of the fourth film is better than the previous sequel, “Thor: Ragnarok”. He teased, “Of course, I can’t tell you anything about the plot, but to satisfy your curiosity, I’ll say that I had a lot more fun reading the script than on ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, and that proves something, because this movie was brilliant.”
Directed by Taika Waititi, “Thor: Love and Thunder” is eyeing a February 2022 release. This upcoming project will see the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and has Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale in the cast ensemble. There is no official word on when the filming will start. Many, however, believed that pre-production has been kicked off after Natalie was spotted taking a trip to Australia.

  • TikTok Star Addison Rae to Lead 'She's All That' Gender-Flipping Remake

    Instagram

The highest-earning TikTok personality in 2020 will make her acting debut in ‘He’s All That’, which has ‘Freaky Friday’ helmer Mark Waters on board to serve as director.
    Sep 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Addison Rae of TikTok fame is branching out to the big screen. The popular social media personality is set to make her acting debut in “He’s All That”, the gender-flipping reboot of the 1999 teen classic “She’s All That”.
The upcoming movie will re-imagine the original plot and be told from a teenage girl’s point of view. Rae is taking on the role of Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Zackary Siler, who in the original film boasts he could make any girl in school popular after being dumped by his girlfriend.
The contemporary story will follow an influencer who decides to avenge herself by accepting a challenge to turn the school’s biggest loser into prom king after her boyfriend turns her into a laughing stock.
The reboot has Mark Waters, the director behind young-adult films like “Mean Girls”, “Freaky Friday” and “Vampire Academy”, on board to serve behind the lens, with the script written by original screenwriter R. Lee Fleming. “She’s All That” producers Jennifer Gigbot and Andrew Panay, meanwhile, return to produce the upcoming film. Miramax, the studio that released the original movie, will produce the upcoming version as well.
“This reboot is a welcomed step towards a new generation of Miramax storytelling, part of our greater strategy to leverage our existing library with fresh, re-imagined content in both film and TV,” said Miramax CEO Bill Block in a statement to Variety, which first reported the news.
The original “She’s All That” was directed by Robert Iscove and starred Rachael Leigh Cook in the female lead role. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the performances of the lead actors, but were critical of the script. It was one of the most popular teen films of the late 1990s.
As for Rae, she has amassed 60 million followers on TikTok, making her the second-most followed person on the social media platform. The 19-year-old Lafayette native has moved to Los Angeles as her popularity skyrocketed. In August 2020, she was named as the highest-earning TikTok personality by Forbes.

  • 'Father of the Bride' Director Hints at Special Reunion

    Buena Vista Pictures

Filmmaker Nancy Meyers sparks reunion rumors as she shares the movie poster on social media almost three decades after the Steve Martin comedy classic came out.
    Sep 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Director Nancy Meyers has teased a potential “Father of the Bride” reunion, almost 30 years after the first Steve Martin comedy classic.
The funnyman starred as an overprotective dad struggling to come to terms with his daughter’s surprise engagement in the 1991 hit, a remake of the 1950 movie of the same name, which featured Diane Keaton as his onscreen wife and Kimberly Williams-Paisley making her big screen debut as the bride-to-be.
A sequel followed in 1995, but now Meyers has hinted she’s working on regrouping the cast for a livestream special after sharing a promotional poster from the first movie on Instagram on Thursday (10Sep20).
Alongside the image, which pictured Williams-Paisley planting a kiss on Martin’s cheek, the filmmaker wrote, “If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020? Coming soon to the phone in your hand!”

She has yet to share any further details about the secretive new project, but fans are convinced a virtual reunion is in the works, after Meyers recently brought the stars of her 1998 hit “The Parent Trap” together online.
Lindsay Lohan and Dennis Quaid were among the castmembers to regroup digitally in July (20), when the group reminisced about the family film favourite and honoured the memory of Lohan’s movie mum Natasha Richardson, who died of blunt force trauma after a skiing accident in 2009, aged 45.
