  • Daisy Ridley Struggling to Find Job After 'Star Wars'

    WENN

The new heroine of the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy admits to getting rejected from a lot of auditions following her onscreen role in the galaxy far far away.
    Aug 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daisy Ridley has struggled to secure work since starring in the “Star Wars” film franchise.
The 28-year-old actress was cast as scavenger-turned-Jedi Rey in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in 2015, and went on to reprise the role in 2017 sequel, “The Last Jedi”, and 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker”.
But despite being being lauded for her performance, the British star tells Entertainment Weekly she had her confidence rattled when no one would hire her following the early career success.
“Weirdly, at the beginning of the year nothing was coming through. I was like, ‘Aww! No one wants to employ me,’ ” she explains. “There were actually loads of things that I auditioned for at the beginning of the year and didn’t get any of them.”
“I had that moment of ‘Oh my god!’ and then just thought ‘everything in its right time,’ ” the star reflects.
While Daisy’s struggled to pick up work, she won’t be absent from screens and is set to appear in upcoming film “Chaos Walking”, co-starring “Spider-Man” actor Tom Holland and directed by “The Bourne Identity” ‘s director Doug Liman.
Originally filmed in 2017, the movie was due for release way back in March, 2019 – but the release date was moved to account for reshoots. The sci-fi drama – based on Patrick Ness’s 2008 novel “The Knife of Never Letting Go” – is due to hit cinemas from 22 January, 2021.

  • Sean Baker Denies Developing OnlyFans Movie With Bella Thorne

    Instagram

The ‘Tangerine’ director admits he has talked to the former Disney actress following her huge gain on the X-rated social media app but he insists he’s not attached to her movie project.
    Aug 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Filmmaker Sean Baker denied that he is working with Bella Thorne on a movie about her time on OnlyFans.
The former Disney star made history on the adult subscription service last week (ends21Aug20) by becoming the first account holder to bank $1 million (£760,000) in her first 24 hours.
She has since doubled her earnings, and told Paper Magazine that she was working with Sean on a film about the website, saying the pair share “the same vision of the movie being a conversation starter for many important topics.”
However, speaking to the Los Angeles Times, “The Florida Project” director has insisted, “I would like to make it clear that the news of me making a film (documentary or fiction narrative) about OnlyFans and using Bella Thorne as research is false.”
“I’m NOT attached to this project. I’m actually in development on two features that I’ve put years of research and love in to and neither of these films have anything to do with Ms. Thorne or OnlyFans,” he stated.
“Earlier this month I had a conversation with Ms. Thorne and discussed a possible collaboration in the far future that would focus on her life and the circumstances leading to her joining OnlyFans,” Sean added.
Sean’s statement came after Bella received backlash for her use of OnlyFans, after fans blamed her for the website instating new policies that will negatively affect content creators by placing limits on their potential earnings – an issue he said he discussed with her.
“On that call, I advised her team to consult with sex workers and address the way she went about this as to NOT hurt the sex work industry. This has been the extent of my involvement.”

  • 'New Mutants' Director Sneers at Lame and Calculated Gay Kiss in 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'

    Walt Disney Pictures

Filmmaker Josh Boone is not really a fan of the background same-sex kissing scene in the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy as he calls it ’embarrassing.’
    Aug 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The New Mutants” director Josh Boone has slammed the gay kiss featured in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” as lame.
The filmmaker has hit out at the background smooch in the 2019 sci-fi blockbuster between characters played by Amanda Lawrence and Vinette Robinson, which made cinematic history as the first of its kind in “Star Wars” franchise history, dubbing it “the most embarrassing” example of LGBTQ intimacy onscreen.
“It was just somebody in the background and (the filmmakers) were like, ‘We’ll put out articles as if this is something you should pay attention to,’ ” Boone told Too Fab.
Josh’s newest film “The New Mutants” features a gay kiss between characters portrayed by Maisie Williams and Blu Hunt, and he hopes audiences will view the scene as an organic instance of affection.
“We didn’t put this (kiss) in to be confrontational or really even in a calculated way, it just happened naturally,” he explained. “We wrote it because the characters in the comic have like an intimate telepathic connection and it just sort of felt like the right thing to do, and it was more of a gentle thing and a coming of age thing than it was a sexual thing.”
And Boone foresees the moment inspiring people in the LGBTQ community to share their own displays of affection publicly.
“I hope this would reach some people and for young women out there who are gay and don’t see representation in a big movie, it’s like, you guys can dress up at Halloween and hold hands and be them and that’s awesome,” he said.
“The New Mutants”, which also stars Charlie Heaton and Anya Taylor-Joy, will be released in U.S. theatres on 28 August (20).

    Aug 28, 2020

The 44-year-old actress re-teams with her “Titanic” director James Cameron for the “Avatar” movie sequels, in which she plays “water person” Ronal.
Kate had to learn to free dive for the part and reflected on the process during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, explaining, “I had to learn how to free-dive to play that role in Avatar, and that was just incredible. My longest breath-hold was seven minutes and 14 seconds, like crazy, crazy stuff.”
