    WENN

The ‘Watchmen’ actress and ‘The Babysitter’ actor tackle the role of an odd couple in the new family film, which will make its debut on Netflix on Friday, August 21.
    Aug 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Malin Akerman and Ken Marino are hoping their new Netflix movie, “The Sleepover”, is a hit, so they can work together again on a sequel.
The pair plays an odd couple in the new family film, which debuts on Friday, August 21, and both stars admit they had such a blast they want to make another film.
“It has the potential (of being a franchise), absolutely,” the “Watchmen” star says. “That would be so much fun, sort of like the ‘Spy Kids’ extravaganza. It would be fantastic. I would definitely go back and do it again as long as Ken Marino is not involved… No, I’m joking, I love working with Ken and I would do anything with him.”
Her co-star adds, “I would absolutely love for this to go on because I want to continue to make movies that families can watch together and this seems like a fun one.”

  • Sean Young Recalls Thinking She Had No Choice But Agreeing to Do Nude Scene in 'No Way Out'

    Orion Pictures

In new documentary ‘Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies’, the ‘Blade Runner’ actress shares her experience auditioning for the 1987 film and filming her sex scene with Kevin Costner.
    Aug 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Sean Young feels she did her best work in “No Way Out”‘s nude scene with Kevin Costner because she really didn’t want to be naked in the 1987 film.
The star insists she felt she had no choice but to bare all in the famous sex scene and admits not only was she acting but she was also pretending not to be uncomfortable.
“That’s kind of good acting – where you’re really in a situation you don’t want to be and trying to make it look comfortable and authentic,” Sean says in new documentary “Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies”, which debuts as a video on demand on Tuesday, August 18.
She also reveals Costner was even more nervous than she was – and he got to keep his clothes on.
“I remember turning to him and saying, ‘You’re dressed! What are you talking about? Get it together, would ya?’.”
Looking back, Young is convinced the scene would not be shot as it was today, adding, “(Director) Roger Donaldson at the audition when he finally offered me the part, he said, ‘Lift up your shirt. Let me see. I want to make sure you don’t have any scars or anything on you’. So I was like, ‘OK,’ and lifted my shirt. It was really ridiculous on a certain level.
“It’s not like you could say to the producers, ‘I love this part but I don’t want to do the nudity’. You had to do the nudity. That’s what they were banking on as part of their sexy project. I remember doing the love scene (in the limo) and thinking how retarded it was that I was the only one undressed.”

  • Kevin Hart Already Teases Bromance With Will Smith in 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' Remake

    WENN

The ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ star is teaming up with the ‘Bad Boys for Life’ actor to star in and produce the reboot to the classic John Hughes 1987 road trip comedy.
    Aug 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kevin Hart and Will Smith are booked for a road trip together. The two actors are set to team up for a remake of the classic John Hughes 1987 holiday movie “Planes, Trains & Automobiles”, which is billed as a starring vehicle for both of them.
The “Ride Along” star and the “Bad Boys for Life” actor will also co-produce the movie through their banners, Hartbeat Productions and Westbrook Studios, respectively. Westbrook’s Jon Mone and Hartbeat’s Bryan Smiley will serve as producers along with them.
The original movie starred Steve Martin as Neal Page, a high-strung marketing executive, and John Candy as Del Griffith, a goodhearted but annoying shower curtain ring salesman. They share a three-day odyssey of misadventures trying to get Neal home to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving with his family.
Aeysha Carr has been tapped to write the remake, which is dubbed a modern update of the original, with Smith and Hart as the mismatched duo.
Spreading news about the project, Hart took to Instagram to share a screenshot of Deadline’s article. He suggested that he has been waiting for a long time to work with Smith and finally found the right project with the “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” remake, writing, “I’ve been patiently waiting for the right project to team up with my brother with. We found it and are developing it together with our teams.”
He already teased a bromance with his co-star and hinted that the movie will be set in Philadelphia as he added, “This will be huge for us and the city of brotherly love aka Philadelphia….. let’s goooooo @willsmith.”
In the original film, Martin’s Neal and Candy’s Del board a flight from New York City to Chicago, but they get stuck in Wichita as their plane is diverted to Wichita due to a blizzard in Chicago. It’s unclear if Philadelphia will replace Wichita or will be their final destination in the remake.
Other details of the new “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” movie, including director and a release date, are yet to be announced.

  • Screening for Imelda Marcos Documentary Is Canceled Amid Anti-Government Protests

‘The Kingmaker’, written and directed by U.S. filmmaker Lauren Greenfield, follows the huge influence the shoe-loving socialite had on her husband President Ferdinand Marcos’ 20-year regime.
    Aug 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – A planned screening for a documentary about controversial former Filipino First Lady Imelda Marcos was shut down in the south of Thailand amid ongoing anti-government protests.
“The Kingmaker”, written and directed by U.S. filmmaker Lauren Greenfield, chronicles the huge influence the shoe-loving socialite had on her husband President Ferdinand Marcos’ 20-year regime, which began in 1965 and was dogged by claims of corruption and brutality.
The project had been screened on limited release in Bangkok and in northern parts of Thailand, but Thida Polpalitkarnpim, who had brought “The Kingmaker” to Thai audiences as the founder of the Documentary Club, was prevented from holding a weekend (August 14-16) screening by authorities.
In a Facebook post, she explained officials had told her the title and poster, which features a regal Imelda dressed in red, standing in a gold frame, against a black and white backdrop of a poverty-stricken neighbourhood, were controversial and they were “not comfortable” with allowing the screening to go ahead.
The news emerges as young Thai activists staged another big demonstration in Bangkok on Sunday, demanding a new election following Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha’s disputed win last year (19) in the first vote held since he took power in a military coup in 2014. They are also calling for the reform of the monarchy.

  • Dev Patel Forced to Put Directorial Debut Project on Hold Due to Coronavirus

    WENN

The ‘Lion’ star, who was in Mumbai filming ‘Monkey Man’ when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, shares what he witnessed before catching one of the last planes leaving India’s largest city.
    Aug 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dev Patel has left his directorial debut dreams on the back burner in Mumbai due to the coronavirus.
The Oscar-nominated actor was in India’s largest city filming “Monkey Man”, which he also stars in, before he was forced to catch one of the last planes leaving the airport due to the sudden onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Mumbai during that time, it was kind of dystopian,” he tells the Associated Press. “There’s no cars or rickshaws on the road. It was empty. The hotel that we’re staying at, those are eight of us. So it felt like ‘The Shining’ (horror movie), being in this empty, humongous hotel with all the lights switched off.”
Dev managed to make it home to Los Angeles, California safely, noting Mumbai locals went “above and beyond” to help him return to the U.S.
Although he has seen his directorial debut stalled, he is still working hard as he self-quarantines at home.
“Even though we’re hibernating, and we can’t physically live in the world between action and cut right now, it doesn’t mean that we can’t be exploring ideas,” he smiles.
Dev also recently wrapped filming fantasy movie “The Green Knight” with Alicia Vikander and Joel Edgerton, but the feature was also put on hold by the pandemic.
“The Green Knight”, from director David Lowery, was initially scheduled to have its world premiere at the South by Southwest festival in March before the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus.
The original 29 May release date for the film was also scrapped and a new date has not yet been set.

  • Chris D'Elia Replaced by Tig Notaro in 'Army of the Dead' Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

    WENN

The Zack Snyder-directed zombie film, which has wrapped production last year, will undergo reshoots to incorporate Notaro’s role after D’Elia is accused of sexual harassment by multiple underage girls.
    Aug 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris D’Elia has lost his part in Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” amid sexual misconduct allegations against him. The actor will be replaced by Tig Notaro in the upcoming Netflix movie, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The zombie movie wrapped principal photography late last year and had been in post-production when the coronavirus pandemic hit the U.S. Now, the movie will undergo “a quick round of reshoots to incorporate Notaro’s role.”
Due to the restrictions placed during the COVID-19 pandemic and actors being already dispersed post-filming, Notaro’s role will be added with the combination of reshooting scenes opposite an acting partner to using green screen and CG technology to blend her in.
“Army of the Dead” has an all-star cast led by Dave Bautista, with Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Garret Dillahunt, Raul Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiryouki Sanada, Matthias Schweighofer, Nora Arnezeder and Samantha Win among other actors starring in. The plot takes place after a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas and follows a group of mercernaries who take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted. It is being billed as a “spiritual sequel” to Snyder’s 2004 film “Dawn of the Dead”.
Snyder directed and co-wrote the movie, in addition to producing it with his wife Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller via their Stone Quarry banner. The film, which will be released on streaming platform Netflix, hasn’t got a release date just yet.
Notaro recently appeared in Noah Hawley’s 2019 drama “Lucy in the Sky” starring Natalie Portman. The comedian, who is a cancer survivor, has also completed the filming of Sia Furler’s musical drama film “Music”, in which she plays a TV host.
As for D’Elia, he has been facing allegations of sexual harassment, grooming and solicitation of nude photos launched by multiple underage girls. He denied the allegations, saying that he had neither “knowingly pursued any underage women at any point” nor “met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me.” In the wake of the scandal, he was dropped by his agency and his planned unscripted show on Netflix has been scrapped.
