    Paramount Pictures

As theaters slowly re-open amid the COVID pandemic, Paramount executives give the John Krasinski-directed thriller a push back to April, and the Tom Cruise-starring film a summer release.
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – The sequels for “A Quiet Place” and “Top Gun” have slipped to 2021 following the news Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” no longer has a firm release date.
News of the calendar switch for the early Oscars favourite has prompted another major studio date merry-go-round with Disney bosses announcing plans to pull “Mulan” from the U.S. release schedule and push new “Avatar” and “Star Wars” films back another year.
And now Paramount executives have handed “A Quiet Place: Part II” and “Top Gun: Maverick” new dates – John Krasinski’s thriller will now hit cinemas in April (21), while Tom Cruise’s new film will now be a summer release. The “Top Gun” sequel was set for a Christmas release.
The news comes as U.S. cinemas slowly re-open amid the COVID crisis, but not at the rate studio bosses had hoped.

  • Charlize Theron Offended by Sexist Car Training in 'The Italian Job'

    Paramount Pictures

The ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ leading lady reveals she was ordered to take six weeks more car training that her male co-stars for the 2003 heist action movie.
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Charlize Theron was insulted while preparing for 2003 heist movie “The Italian Job” when producers insisted she take six weeks more car training than her male co-stars.
Theron, Edward Norton, Jason Statham, and Mark Wahlberg had to do their own driving in the fast-paced film and producers wanted to make sure they were ready for the stunt work behind the wheel.
During a [email protected] panel, the Oscar winner said, “The Italian Job was a great experience, in the sense that I realised there was still so much misconception around women in the genre, even though in that film the action is really based on cars. We had to physically do a lot of that stuff. The only good thing that came out of that experience was that there was a real pressure to pull off those stunts with the actors.”
“But there was a very unfair process that went with that – I was the only woman with a bunch of guys and I remember vividly getting the schedule in our pre-production (period) and they had scheduled me for six weeks more car training than any of the guys. It was just so insulting, but it was also the thing that put a real fire under my a**.
“I was like, ‘Alright, you guys wants to play this game? Let’s go.’ And I made it a point to out drive all of those guys.”
She was so proud of her driving in the film, especially after Wahlberg threw up during a scene, and admits the perception of female action stars has changed in the last 15 years. “The good news now is that we’ve kind of changed the genre for women,” she said. “I think there’s great evidence where we now know you can’t hide behind ignorance anymore. Audiences love these films.”

  • Kacey Musgraves In Talks to Join 'The Little Mermaid'

    WENN

The ‘Space Cowboy’ star is reportedly circling a major role in the upcoming live action remake of Disney’s classic tale starring Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy.
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kacey Musgraves is reportedly being lined up for a role in the live action remake of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”.
According to a report by TheDisInsider, Kacey has been in talks to take on the part of Vanessa – the human form of the villain Ursula.
The outlet claimed that the country singer has had several meetings with Disney about the project, although they add that there’s a chance Kacey may also have passed on the role.
Neither Kacey nor Disney have responded to the speculation as yet.
If Kacey did get cast in the film, it would be her first major acting role. She’s previously starred as herself in U.S. TV show “Nashville” and had a small musical role in 2018 movie “Wild Rose”, but hasn’t taken on a big project to showcase her acting talents.
Filming on “The Little Mermaid” remake, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, is expected to begin in London this summer (20).

  • Charlize Theron's Stunt Double Reveals the 'Intense' Feud Between Her and Tom Hardy

    WENN

Dayna Grant claims she knew ‘from the get-go’ that things would be uncomfortable as there was tension between the two ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ stars ‘when we were doing the fight choreography.’
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy were infamously feuding during the filming of “Mad Max: Fury Road”. Now, Dayna Grant, who was Charlize’s stunt double in the movie, detailed the “intense” work environment in a new interview with Metro.
“It was really hard. It was hard because it was obviously I had to spend time with both of them and both of them didn’t want to be together,” Dayna said of the set atmosphere of the 2015 flick. “Usually Charlize would come in and they’d do scenes together, but they didn’t want to do scenes together, so I was put in her spot to always be with Tom. Tom’s double was always put with Charlize, so we actually worked with the opposite characters.”
Dayna claimed that she knew “from the get-go” that things would be uncomfortable. “We knew right from the get-go. We knew from the beginning that it was happening when we were doing the fight choreography… there was tension then,” she explained. “So we were told what was going on.”
She went on to say that everyone was told to try to make it work despite the beef between the two actors. “And we were just told to try and make it work as much as possible, which was challenging because usually you’re all in one big group and working together whereas we were kind of separated,” Dayana said.
Back in May, the cast of Charlize opened up to NY Times that the tension stemmed from their frustration over not fully understanding the film that was being made. “In retrospect, I didn’t have enough empathy to really, truly understand what [Tom] must have felt like to step into Mel Gibson’s shoes,” Charlize shared.
“That is frightening! And I think because of my own fear, we were putting up walls to protect ourselves instead of saying to each other, ‘This is scary for you, and it’s scary for me, too. Let’s be nice to each other.’ In a weird way, we were functioning like our characters: Everything was about survival,” she added.

    Jul 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dave Franco may need to start mastering how to spit some fiery bars for his next movie. The 35-year-old actor has confirmed that he’s on board to play Vanilla Ice in a biopic about the 1990s rapper titled “To the Extreme”.
The project was first reported in 2019, but it has yet to start production. Now in an interview with The Insider, Franco has given an update on the movie. Though it currently still has no start date, the writer/director assured, “We have been in development for a while but we are inching closer and closer to preproduction.”

“With that movie, people expected us to make a broad comedy where we make fun of Tommy Wiseau, but the more real we played it, the funnier and heartfelt it was – that’s the tone we want for this one as well,” he shared.
Due to to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Franco said he is developing the biopic with Ice, while he remains quarantined at home. The rapper, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, is teaming up with Chris Goodwin to write the script, but no director is attached to the project as of now.
