  • Lucy Hale: 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Audition 'Scared the Crap Out of Me'

    Instagram

Offering more details over the time she tried to land the role of Anastasia Steele, the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ actress confesses she ‘didn’t really even know what she was saying.’
    Jul 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lucy Hale has opened up about her “mortifying” experience of auditioning for the role of Anastasia Steele in the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey”.
The “Pretty Little Liars” star put herself forward for the role, which eventually went to Dakota Johnson, in the summer of 2013, when she was still appearing on the teen drama series.
Speaking to the Associated Press, the star recalled: “I was very young. It had to have been, not 10 years ago, it was a while ago and I was mortified.”
“It wasn’t actual scenes from the movie, but it was a very sexually forward monologue and I didn’t really even know what I was saying in the audition,” Lucy, now 31, confessed. “I was a little naive about it all, but yes, I did audition. I obviously didn’t get the part, but it was good for me because it scared the crap out of me to do an audition (like that).”
It’s not the first time Lucy has spoken about the experience – she previously admitted she wouldn’t have been “comfortable with everything that was happening in those movies,” joking: “And my dad would just keel over!”.

  • Dennis Quaid Insists Alleged Animal Abuse in His Movie 'A Dog's Purpose' Never Happened

    Universal Pictures

The ‘Pet Show’ host addresses the animal abuse allegations surrounding his 2017 feature film ‘A Dog’s Purpose’, claiming that the controversial video is misleading.
    Jul 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dennis Quaid has spoken about the scandal surrounding his 2017 movie “A Dog’s Purpose”.
The flick was met with controversy when a video emerged online, which appeared to show one of the dogs on the set of the movie being abused during filming.
Speaking on his podcast “The Pet Show”, the star called the video a scam and very misleading, explaining, “What happened was the dog jumps into the water … there were divers, scuba divers, three of them, underneath the water.”
“One of the trainers reached down to give the dog a rest, and he pulled him up, and it looks like he’s pulling him up and choking him by the collar.”
Dennis continued, “What it doesn’t show is that there’s a table right below the dog, so the dog can rest his feet on the table. He’s not just being held up.”
Insisting the clip is doctored, Quaid added that he “goes under, and that’s where the guy cuts,” noting, “Well there were two divers waiting for him right there, it wasn’t even a second and a half.”
“They lifted him up, handed him to the trainer right by the pool and the dog didn’t even wait to get a collar on, he ran right to the other side of the pool to do it again. He loved it.”
The video raised concerns for the canine actors after it was released just prior to the film hitting theatres in 2017. An independent investigation later agreed that no animals were harmed on the set.

  • 'Wedding Crashers' Director Teases Idea for Sequel

    New Line Cinema

David Dobkin is mulling over idea for a long-awaited sequel to the Vince Vaughn and Owen-Wilson-starring romcom about guys living bachelor lives in their late 40s.
    Jul 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Filmmaker David Dobkin is still holding out hope to “one day” reunite with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson and make a long-awaited sequel to their “Wedding Crashers” hit.
The director previously floated the idea of revisiting the 2005 comedy for a funny follow-up after it became a box office success, but he and his leading men eventually decided against the project.
“We talked about it for many, many years,” Dobkin told Entertainment Weekly. “We realised we were remaking the same movie again and we really didn’t want to do that.”
However, Dobkin hasn’t completely dismissed the thought, and now so much time has passed, he has a potential plot that could work.
“Ten or more years later, all of a sudden these guys are in their mid to late 40s and they end up single – what do they do?” he said. “That’s interesting to me, because I know guys in their mid to late 40s who have ended up single, whether it’s out of marriages that didn’t work out or they just didn’t find anyone to marry, and it’s a head trip for men, the idea of maybe I’m not going to be a dad, maybe I’m not going to be married. So it became a real cultural question and it yielded an interesting kind of centre to the movie.”
The director has even been toying around with a screenplay for the proposed sequel, and he’s hopeful it’s something he can eventually make with Vaughn and Wilson – although he warns fans not to expect anything anytime soon.
“I believe in sequels that are new and appropriate, and I don’t think there’s a time limit of chasing what that is. There may be one day when we can finally get it all together,” Dobkin shared.
“I can tell you that it’s really fun to read those voices of these guys on the page again. There was a joy that I was surprised at when I read the first draft of what could have been, or maybe one day will be, this sequel. I do think audiences would love it.”
