  • Zoe Kravitz Trying to 'Stay More Focused' Amid 'Pressure' After Landing Catwoman Role

    WENN

The ‘Big Little Lies’ actress says she felt ‘immediate pressure’ after her casting as Selina Kyle in the upcoming Caped Crusader movie is announced to public.
    Jun 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zoe Kravitz felt “immediate pressure” when she landed the role of Catwoman in upcoming movie “The Batman”, but has no doubt the film will do well because the script is “phenomenal.”
The 31-year-old actress stars as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ latest offering, opposite Robert Pattinson in the titular role. While the coronavirus pandemic has led to the release date being pushed back, Zoe has no doubt fans will love it – but admitted it took her some time to get her head around the fact she is going to be playing the character on screen.
“When the announcement came out that I had gotten this role, my phone rang more than it has ever,” she said on the Variety and iHeart podcast The Big Ticket. “More than my birthday, more than my wedding, more than anything. So I felt that immediate pressure…The script is phenomenal. The story’s really strong. I feel very clear on who Selena is and what she wants, and I’m trying to stay more focused on that.”
And despite the fact that Robert’s casting in the film initially attracted some backlash, Zoe assured fans the former “Twilight” star is the perfect Caped Crusader.
“He’s just a great actor and he brings so much to everything he does,” she said. “I think that it’s a really hard role because people are expecting a lot. Also it’s restricting in a lot of ways. You’re wearing the suit, and you can’t see their eyes, and you can only move in a certain way.”
“So you have to get really creative in terms of how can you portray a multidimensional character? He’s way up for the challenge and has really interesting ideas already. I think he’s perfect, perfect casting.”

    Jun 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Christopher Nolan’s new film “Tenet” has been delayed again, this time until mid-August 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to editors at Entertainment Tonight, the Warner Bros. movie is now scheduled to hit theatres on August 12, 2020 after being pushed back from its rescheduled date of 31 July. It was originally scheduled to debut earlier in the month.

Announcing plans for an extended run in cinemas, they added, “We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy.”

  • Johnny Depp Rumored to Play Joker in 'Batman Beyond' Film

    WENN

Following reports that Michael Keaton may reprise his role in a live-action ‘Batman Beyond’ in addition to appearing in The Flash movie, it’s now reported that Depp may play the main villain in the upcoming film.
    Jun 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Johnny Depp is once again linked to DC movie. The “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” actor is rumored to possibly play the Joker in “Batman Beyond” film, which may be a starring vehicle for Michael Keaton.
According to Mikey Sutton, who is known for his scoops on Hollywood projects, Keaton may reprise his role as the Batman in in a live-action “Batman Beyond” for HBO Max, in addition to appearing in The Flash movie.
“A live-action ‘Batman Beyond’ is being talked about again and this time for HBO Max although no development has begun,” he told YouTube channel Midnight’s Edge. “If they could net Keaton for it, the possibility of this materializing greatly increases.”
He added, “AT&T is quite excited about the commercial and social-media buzz Keaton in ‘Batman Beyond’ could generate for HBO Max. Only time will tell if Keaton is similarly thrilled with the idea.”
Updating on his previous report, Sutton later said that the “Batman Beyond” film could be aimed for a theatrical release rather being a HBO Max exclusive, with Tim Burton possibly directing and Depp as the main villain, Joker. He added that the “Batman Beyond” film would be a live-action adaptation of the “Return of the Joker” film, which was a direct-to-video animated film released in 2000.
In the animated movie, an older Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) trains a college student, Terry McGinnis (Will Friedle), to replace him as Batman. Meanwhile, the Joker (Mark Hamill) has re-emerged as the leader of the Jokerz, a gang inspired by the supervillain Joker, who had mysteriously disappeared for decades following his final battle with the original Batman.
Prior to this scoop about “Batman Beyond”, Depp has been touted as one of fan favorites to play the Joker in Matt Reeves’ new Batman trilogy, which stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. As with the previous speculation, the latest rumor about Depp’s possible involvement in the “Batman Beyond” film should be taken with a grain of salt.

“‘Wedding Crashers 2’, yeah, I think we can just say it’s being written,” Ferrell told E! News before adding the follow-up should focus on divorce. “How about if it’s just the lawyers representing everyone in divorce court? And just make it, like, a legal courtroom drama – not funny at all.”

  • Henry Cavill Credits His Superman Role for Teaching Him a Lot About Himself

    Warner Bros.

Amid reports suggesting he’s in talks for a new ‘Man of Steel’ film, the star of ‘The Witcher’ expresses his hope to be able to play more of the superhero character in years to come.
    Jun 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Henry Cavill is hoping to hit new heights as Superman amid reports suggesting he’s in talks for a new “Man of Steel” film.
The 37-year-old Brit has played the superhero in three movies and he wants more.
“I’ve always been a fan of Superman,” he told Variety. “With a character like that, you carry the mantle with you off set. And it becomes part of your public representation. When you meet children, children don’t necessarily see me as Henry Cavill, but they might see Superman, and there’s a responsibility which comes with that.”
“Because it’s such a wonderful character, it’s actually a responsibility I’m happy to have, and I hope that I get to play more of Superman in years to come.”
“My life has changed dramatically because of it and it has given me plenty of opportunity for roles, and yeah, it’s been one of those characters which changed the entire course of my career. I’m incredibly grateful for it, and it’s also taught me a lot about myself.”
“He’s (Superman) so good, he’s so kind, and when you start to compare yourself to him, because you’re playing him, you start to really look inwards. You say, ‘Am I a good person? Can I be a good enough person to play Superman?’ And if you ever hear a whisper in there which is like, ‘Hmm, hold on a second. Maybe not,’ then you adjust it, and you make sure you are a better person. I think that’s all we can do in life.”

Cavill last portrayed Clark Kent and his superhero alter ego in 2017’s “Justice League”.

‘Dracula’ Director Admits to Ordering Gary Oldman to Whisper ‘Evil’ Words to Winona Ryder More

  • 'Dracula' Director Admits to Ordering Gary Oldman to Whisper 'Evil' Words to Winona Ryder

    Columbia Pictures

Francis Ford Coppola admits to telling Gary Oldman to whisper ‘evil and horrific’ words in Winona Ryder’s ear during a scene but denies making such demands on Keanu Reeves.
    Jun 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Francis Ford Coppola has denied he ordered Keanu Reeves to insult co-star Winona Ryder on the set of “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” – to make her cry on cue.
The “Stranger Things” star made the claim during a recent Sunday Times interview, insisting her leading man refused his director’s demands, but Coppola has fired back, admitting he asked Gary Oldman to whisper “evil and horrific” words in her ear, but he never made such demands on Keanu, who played lawyer Jonathan Harker in the 1992 movie.
The 81-year-old filmmaker has also dismissed Ryder’s claims he called her “a wh*re” in an effort to make her cry during one scene, telling People, “While I think Winona is a wonderful actor, the incident she described is not how it happened, and shouting or abusing people isn’t something I do as a person or as a filmmaker.”
“In this situation, which I remember clearly, I instructed Gary Oldman – in character as Dracula – to whisper improvised words to her and the other characters, making them as horrific and evil as he could. I don’t know what was said, but improvisation is a common filmmaking practice.”
Ryder’s memory has also been questioned by Mel Gibson’s representative, who has denied her claims the “Braveheart” star upset her by using a derogatory term for Jews at a Hollywood party.
The actress recalled the incident in the same Sunday Times interview and alleged Gibson referred to her as an “oven dodger.”
“We were at a crowded party with one of my good friends, and Mel Gibson was smoking a cigar, and we’re all talking and he said to my friend, who’s gay, ‘Oh wait, am I gonna get AIDS?’ ” Ryder told the newspaper. “And then something came up about Jews, and he said, ‘You’re not an oven dodger, are you?’ ”
Gibson’s rep has responded, stating, “This is 100 per cent untrue. She lied about it over a decade ago, when she talked to the press, and she’s lying about it now. Also, she lied about him trying to apologise to her back then. He did reach out to her, many years ago, to confront her about her lies, and she refused to address it with him.”
