    WENN

The film project will be based on adventure photographer Ben Moon’s memoir that focuses on how he and his dog helped support each other through their mutual cancer battles over 15 years.
    May 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Charlie Hunnam has signed on to star in new film “Denali” about a man who recorded a viral love letter to his dog.
Adventure photographer Ben Moon shot to Internet fame in 2015 after uploading an eight-minute short made to honor his adopted pet that received millions of views online and won several festival awards.
Director Max Winkler will lead star Charlie in the new picture for Spyglass Media Group based on Moon’s memoir “Denali: A Man, a Dog, and a Friendship of a Lifetime”, which focuses on how both dog and master helped support each other through their mutual cancer battles over 15 years. The director and actor duo recently worked together on upcoming boxing drama “Jungleland”.
Hunnam will also produce Denali with Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa of Bona Fide Productions, colleagues he previously worked with on “Cold Mountain”.

Venice Film Festival 2020 to Proceed as Plan Despite Coronavirus Pandemic

Veneto Governor Luca Zaia, who is on the board of directors for organizers, is confident the 77th edition will not be canceled or postponed, though bosses have yet to issue a formal statement.
    May 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – The 2020 Venice Film Festival will not be cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the local Italian governor.
Veneto Governor Luca Zaia, who is on the board of directors for organisers the Biennale di Venezia, is confident the annual September event will proceed as planned, as lockdown restrictions across the nation are starting to be eased.
According to local media outlets, the official acknowledged the line-up for the festival will likely be scaled back after productions across the world were halted over COVID-19 concerns back in March, but he believes there is no reason not to press ahead with the gathering.
Venice Film Festival bosses have yet to issue a formal statement on the updated status of the bash, which is pegged to take place from September 2 to 12, with actress Cate Blanchett appointed to lead the main competition jury.
The slate of movies set to screen at the event is typically unveiled in late July.
Zaia’s comments echo those of Biennale president Roberto Cicutto, who last month declared organisers would defy the global health crisis to stage their 77th edition as planned.
If the Venice Film Festival does open in September, it will become the first major film event to be held in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
To date, more than 32,700 people in Italy have died due to COVID-19, the third highest total behind the U.S. and the U.K.

Dane DeHaan Irked at Harvey Weinstein for Replacing His Voice in Animated Movie

    The Weinstein Company

The ‘Spider-Man’ actor reveals he had to hunt down the European version of his 2016 animated movie for his young daughter because his voice was replaced in the American release.
    May 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dane DeHaan had to track down a European copy of his 2016 movie “Ballerina” for his daughter to watch after learning Harvey Weinstein had swapped out his voice for the American release.
The “Spider-Man 2” star joined Elle Fanning, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Maddie Ziegler among the voiceover cast of the Eric Summer film and recently decided to show it to three-year-old Bowie only to discover daddy was no longer part of the picture.
“We showed that to Bowie but in the American version, one of the last things that Harvey Weinstein decided to do before he went down (to prison), was replace my voice in that, so I had to get the European version so I could show it to my daughter. She loves it!”
Bowie also loves her dad’s take on villain the Green Goblin in the “Spider-Man” sequel. “She likes Spider-Man a lot. She has the Spider-Man water bottle. Actually, if you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up she says, ‘I wanna be the Green Goblin, like daddy.’ ”

J.K. Rowling Came Up With Harry Potter Story While on Train

    WENN

The best-selling author in history sets the record straight on the internet chatters regarding the birthplace of her hugely popular wizarding book series.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – J.K. Rowling has torpedoed multiple fan theories suggesting she came up with the idea for Harry Potter at a cafe in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The author took to social media this week to clear up rumours about the birth of her stories about the boy wizard and his friends, revealing she only started writing them down in The Elephant House.
“I was thinking of putting a section on my website about all the alleged inspirations and birthplaces of Potter,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’d been writing Potter for several years before I ever set foot in this cafe, so it’s not the birthplace, but I did write in there, so we’ll let them off!”
Rowling went on to reveal she first scribbled down her ideas about Potter’s wizarding world in London, adding, “I was renting a room in a flat over what was then a sports shop. The first bricks of Hogwarts were laid in a flat in Clapham Junction.”
“If you define the birthplace of Harry Potter as the moment when I had the initial idea, then it was a Manchester-London train. I’m perennially amused by the idea that Hogwarts was directly inspired by beautiful places I saw or visited, because it’s so far from the truth.”
Rowling published “The Philosopher’s Stone”, the first book from the sensationally popular novel series-turned-film franchise, in 1997.
The author has also shared a picture of a bookshop in Porto, Portugal, and responds to the owners’ claims that it was an inspiration for Harry Potter.
“I never visited this bookshop in Oporto,” she states. “Never even knew of its existence! It’s beautiful and I wish I had visited it, but it has nothing to do with Hogwarts!”

    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pamela Anderson was not a fan of the “Baywatch” movie.
The actress, who starred in the surf series on TV and had a cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s big screen remake, insists “Baywatch” should never have left the small screen.

“It took $65 million to make a ‘great’ movie; we made our shows for, like, $500,000, It was, like, real filming. We had the same explosions, the same scenes underwater.”

'Tenet' Trailer: Christopher Nolan's New Protagonist to Stop World War III Through 'Inversion'

    [embedded content]

John David Washington’s character struggles to comprehend his mission and skills which involve time manipulation, while Robert Pattinson’s alter ego wants to crash a plane.
    May 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” has unleashed a new trailer for fans’ viewing pleasure. With theaters still closed amid the coronavirus lockdown, the video was unveiled through Fortnite, before it’s made available on YouTube.
In “Inception” and “Interstellar” style, the upcoming film is a sciene-fiction pic with a mind-bending twist. The main protagonist, played by John David Washington, has to pass a test that many others have failed. “That test you passed?” Martin Donovan’s character says to him early in the video. “Not everybody goes. Welcome to the afterlife.”
Washington’s mission is to stop World War III through something called “inversion.” He seems to still struggle to comprehend his skills and at one point is seen being surprised when he literally catches the bullet instead of shooting it.
The word “tenet” is a password that ensures people take him seriously and Robert Pattinson’s character, who looks like a swagger, somehow joins him in some of his actions. In one scene, he sees bullet holes in glass but says that the shooting hasn’t happened yet.
The next scenes are even more action-packed and intense, with Washington and Pattinson running through the audience in a big conference room as the latter says that they need to save them. Interestingly, the audience seem to be not moving a.k.a. in pause mode.
Later toward the end of the video, Pattinson shares his crazy plan to crash a big plane.
Like many of Nolan’s films, little is known about the plot, but the official description of the movie reads, “Armed with only one word-Tenet-and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.” It adds, “Not time travel. Inversion.”
The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson (a.k.a. Aaron Johnson), Clemence Poesy, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh. Nolan wrote in addition to directing the film, as well as producing it along with his wife Emma Thomas. Thomas Hayslip served as executive producer.
“Tenet” is still scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17, but the new trailer fails to list an opening date at the end of it, simply saying, “coming to theaters” instead. There’s a big chance that the movie’s release is postponed, or it will go straight on streaming service.

    WENN

The upcoming seventh installment of the Tom Cruise-fronted action movie franchise has found its villain in Esai Morales after Nicholas Hoult left the project.
    May 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Esai Morales has replaced Nicholas Hoult as the villain in the new “Mission: Impossible” blockbuster.
Hoult was forced to pull out of the Tom Cruise film, directed by Christopher McQuarrie when the coronavirus shutdown upset the movie’s schedule, clashing with another project the Brit had committed to, according to Deadline.
The project was just about to go before cameras when the industry was put on hold in March 2020 and now “Mission; Impossible 7” ‘s July, 2021 release date has been moved to November next year.
Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby are all returning for “Mission: Impossible 7” while Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Shea Whigham have joined the cast alongside Morales.
