Zoe Kravitz Gets Real Why 'Divergent' Films Were Not Among Her Favorites

    Instagram

The ‘Big Little Lies’ actress, who portrayed Christina in the film franchise, makes the confession during an appearance on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast.
    May 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Zoe Kravitz isn’t a fan of her work in the “Divergent” film franchise because she had no idea where the story was supposed to go.
The 31-year-old starred alongside Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, and Ansel Elgort in the movies, based on the dystopian book series of the same name by Veronica Roth, but Kravitz admits she didn’t enjoy the blockbuster filmmaking process.
“Those films, (with) all due respect, those weren’t my favourite films that I’ve made, and I think as we went on, the story really kinda got lost and nobody really knew what we were doing anymore, and that makes it really hard,” she confessed on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast (https://armchairexpertpod.com/pods/zoe-kravitz).
“I’m happy to go wherever (in her acting), if I know what we’re making and why, but once you lose sight of that, it becomes really hard.”
Kravitz also attributes having to shoot so many scenes against a giant green screen while in the heat of the summer in Atlanta, Georgia for her dislike of the three releases, which began with 2014’s “Divergent”.
She added, “I think it depends what it is too, like, when you’re running away from something… and it’s a million degrees, and you can’t see anything (because) it’s all CG (computer-generated)…”

Although the releases performed well at the global box office, the first instalment, shot by Neil Burger, garnered mixed reviews from critics, while the follow-ups, 2015’s “Insurgent’ and 2016’s “Allegiant”, which were both directed by Robert Schwentke, were more negatively received. The reaction led to a planned fourth movie, inspired by the second half of the Allegiant novel, to be scrapped altogether.

Report: Rihanna's New Documentary to Expose Her Fallout With Jay-Z and Beyonce

    Instagram/https://www.beyonce.com/

Titled ‘Rihanna: Volume One’, the upcoming documentary, which is directed by Peter Berg, will allegedly chronicle her problem with her manager at Roc Nation and Jay-Z, as well as her breakup from Hassan Jameel.
    May 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – A new Rihanna documentary is on the way. Reports about the project titled “Rihanna: Volume One” surfaced over the weekend after production company Film 45 accidentally leaked about it on its website.
In a screenshot taken and shared by a fan Twitter account, the company posted a photo of the Barbadian songstress singing in the studio along with a tagline which read, “Coming soon: An inside look at the personal and professional life of Rihanna.”
According to the tweet, the documentary will be directed by Peter Berg, who directed Rih in 2012’s “Battleship”, for Amazon Video. The Twitter user also included a now-broken link to Film 45’s website, which provided detailed synopsis of the project.
The synopsis reportedly read, “Peter Berg’s bold and innovative ‘Rihanna’ is an unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life, providing a glimpse into the evolution of one of the world’s most well-known pop artists. With unparalleled access into the singer’s life and over 1200 hours of footage, the doc takes us on a journey through private insights into Rihanna’s personality and humor, philosophies on work, family and love that are both moving and inspirational.”
Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Rihanna: Volume One” compiles various footage Berg captured while traveling alongside the “Diamonds” hitmaker in Europe. Amazon reportedly paid $25 to acquire rights to the documentary.
Meanwhile, according to MTO News, the documentary would be an explosive one, with the 32-year-old R&B superstar airing out her alleged feud with Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles. According to the site’s source, Rih had a fallout with the famous couple after her album “Anti” leaked prematurely, which she blamed on Jay-Z’s streaming platform Tidal.
The hip-hop mogul and Tidal had explained that the leak was due to “system error,” but the “Umbrella” songstress allegedly accused the rapper of leaking her album behind her back to prop up his wife Beyonce’s album “Formation”.
The site adds that the upcoming documentary will also focus on Rih’s strained relationship with her father and detail her relationship and eventual breakup with Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel.

'Wonder Woman' Director Going to Try Really Hard Not to Direct Spin-Off

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

When expressing hopes to steer clear from the upcoming Amazon Prime film, director Patty Jenkins admits that ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ has left her feeling creatively depleted.
    May 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Director Patty Jenkins has no interest in directing an upcoming spin-off of her record-breaking “Wonder Woman” film.
The filmmaker recently won a pitch for another adaptation of the DC Comics superheroine’s story to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime, but she is hoping she won’t be asked to direct the project.
“I’m not going to direct (the Amazon film) hopefully,” she tells Total Film magazine. “I’m going to try really hard not to. It’s not going to be easy.”
“But (comic book writer) Geoff Johns and I came up with the story and we sold the pitch, and we’re going to get it going. I’ll produce it, for sure.”
Patty, who made history as the first woman to direct a big budget superhero film with “Wonder Woman”, starring Gal Gadot, admits she feels creatively depleted after wrapping up the sequel, “Wonder Woman 1984″.
”I’m not going to nail down a fresh thought about it (the Amazon Prime spin-off) until this movie (‘Wonder Woman 1984’) comes out, because I kind of want to give myself a palate cleanser, and be fresh of mind,” she shares.
“Wonder Woman 1984”, starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Robin Wright Penn, is scheduled for release this summer.

The stage show debuted in 2010 before hitting London’s West End the following year. It transferred to Broadway in 2013 and ran for four years before closing in 2017.
The movie follows the story of a young bookworm prodigy mistreated by her ignorant parents and abusive school headmistress, and according to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper it’s become a priority for producers at Sony Pictures and Netflix, who have tapped “Killing Eve” star Jodie and “Spectre” actor Ralph to appear in the flick.

Fleetwood Mac's Song 'Rhiannon' Turned Into Movie by Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks reveals that she has been hard at work during the coronavirus lockdown developing a big-screen project based on her band’s 1975 hit single.
    May 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Stevie Nicks has kept her 2020 schedule free so she can work on a movie inspired by her 1975 Fleetwood Mac hit “Rhiannon”.
The star opened up in a chat with Rolling Stone about life in lockdown and confessed she’s not finding it as tough as other artists because she’d already planned to take a year off touring.
“Last year I made a pitch to everybody that when this Fleetwood Mac tour is over, I’m taking next year off because I want to work on my Rhiannon book/movie,” she explained, with her new project based on the original Welsh Mabinogion myths that inspired her song. “And I want to maybe work with some different producers… I don’t know what I want to do! I just know that I don’t want a tour!”
While the “Stand Back” star hasn’t been able to meet with producers, she’s been recording music for the project based on a collection of poetry she’s amassed over the last 30 years.
“I have some Rhiannon poetry that I have written over the last 30 years that I’ve kept very quiet,” she teased. “I’m thinking, ‘Well here I have all this time and I have a recording setup.’ And I’m thinking I’m going to start doing some recording. I’m going to start putting some of these really beautiful poems to music, and I have the ability to record them. So that’s on my to-do list.”
Explaining she’s trying to make the most of the enforced downtime, the star insisted, “What all we have right now, if you’re home in quarantine, is time, unless you’re taking care of kids. So, really, you could do anything you wanted that you’ve been wanting to do your whole life. So that’s how I’m trying to look at it.”

'No Time to Die' Unlikely to Get On-Demand Release, to Wait Until Cinemas Reopen

    Universal Pictures

The latest James Bond film starring Daniel Craig has been pushed back from its Mar 16 release to November due to the coronavirus crisis, but might get further delay.
    May 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – James Bond producers aren’t prepared to launch new movie “No Time to Die” until theatres reopen amid the coronavirus crisis.
The film, starring Daniel Craig, was supposed to hit cinemas on 16 May, but producers opted to stall the release due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
It is now scheduled to be released in November, but according to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper the movie won’t reach audiences until movie theaters reopen – with bosses apparently refusing to consider an on-demand release.
“If it has to wait till next year then so be it,” said a source close to the production. “There are hundreds of millions of dollars involved here. Release it when audiences feel safe to return. But it’s a nerve-racking call.”
“No Time to Die” is set to be Craig’s final movie as 007, after playing Ian Fleming’s beloved secret agent in “Casino Royale”, “Quantum of Solace”, “Skyfall” and “Spectre”.
