Kelly Macdonald Reveals Which 'Trainspotting' Scene She Filmed While Hungover

    Miramax Films

Looking back at the role that kicked off her acting career, the actress playing Diane in Danny Boyle’s drugs drama additionally talks about her experience shooting sex scene with Ewan McGregor.

    Mar 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – The “Trainspotting” cast was often drunk during filming, according to star Kelly Macdonald. The actress, who played Diane in Danny Boyle’s drugs drama, reveals many of her co-stars were inebriated as cameras rolled.
“I thought it was OK because everyone else was [drinking],” she told The Guardian. “It was like high school, you just try to fit in. We were just hanging out at the pub. The green room was a little caravan that we were all supposed to sit in. And the sensible people would sit, and the others would go to the local pub.”
And Kelly admits she had been drinking all day before shooting the film’s famous club scene, when her character met Ewan McGregor’s Renton for the first time. “By the time it came to me doing the talky bit, I was already hungover,” she said.

Although the actress is proud of the film, she admitted she has only ever seen it once. “I’ve not watched it since the premiere, so I have no idea,” she laughed. “I’m sure I’m quite bad in it, actually.”
But she will never forget shooting a sex scene with McGregor, adding, “Ewan had done a lot of sex scenes before that, and he was so sweet to me and talked me through it, and made me feel as comfortable as I could be.”
On her experience working with good directors, Macdonald said, “Oh God, I’ve been so lucky. A lot of it is being in the right place at the right time. I’m quite good at not working for the sake of working, although sometimes it would have benefited me fiscally.”
“But if my instincts say it’s not for me, then I go with that,” the 45-year-old actress elaborated. “Because the couple of jobs that I’ve done that I’ve not really been right for, and I’ve had that feeling, I’ve generally been correct.”

Olivia Colman Spills How Mother's Role as NHS District Nurse Connects Her to 'The Father'

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

In the Florian Zeller-directed drama, ‘The Favourite’ actress stars opposite Anthony Hopkins, and deals with the difficulty a daughter faced when her father is diagnosed with dementia.

    Mar 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – Olivia Colman feels a special connection to her latest film “The Father”, because her mother worked in geriatric care. The actress stars in the drama alongside Sir Anthony Hopkins, and admits she feels particularly invested in the movie, which chronicles a man struggling with ageing.
“My mum was a district nurse for the NHS for 40 years, and her passion was always geriatric care,” the Oscar winner tells the BBC. “And I would go in the car with her when it was school holidays or when I was ill and I’d see lonely people in their homes, who didn’t have families. My mum is an ambassador for dementia care, so it’s always been a big part of my family’s life.”

“The Favourite” star thinks it’s particularly important to show the difficulty families face when a loved one is diagnosed with dementia. “It’s an awful decision to make – to look into your father’s eyes and see fear or confusion,” she adds. “It’s a terrible thing to still want to live your own life, but you have to have your own life. And that was a reason I wanted to play it; I wanted to play all those feelings.”
Meanwhile, her co-star signed on after being wowed by the script, “It was so powerful, and so simple, so direct, so concise, so compact,” Hopkins says. “I’ve been fortunate, in the last few years I’ve been involved with some wonderful films, but this was really unique.”
Directed by Florian Zeller, “The Father” follows an ageing man who struggles with memory loss, but rejects all assistance from his daughter and caretaker. It received four nominations, including Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor for Olivia and Anthony respectively, at both 2021 Golden Globes and 2021 Critics Choice Awards.

'Thor: Love and Thunder' Fans Rave Over Natalie Portman's Ripped Physique in New Set Pics

    Marvel Studios

The Jane Foster depicter looks jacked as she shows off her muscly arms underneath her burgundy T-shirt while filming the upcoming fourth Thor movie in Australia.

    Mar 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – Natalie Portman has shown her muscly transformation for “Thor: Love and Thunder” and fans couldn’t help gushing over it. The Academy Award-winning actress had been training and hitting the gym for months to reprise her role as Jane Foster, and it all paid off.
The “Black Swan” actress was recently spotted on the set of the upcoming Marvel movie as she continued filming for it in Australia. In some new set photos which have circulated online, the 39-year-old looked jacked as her muscly arms were on display underneath her short-sleeve burgundy T-shirt.
Impressed by Portman’s ripped physique, a fan gushed on Twitter, “Dang Natalie Portman been hitting the weights big time!” Another quipped, “i would like to formally request for natalie portman to snap me in half.”
Another had a similar reaction, tweeting, “Finally my long held dream of Natalie Portman lifting me over her head and snapping my back in half like Bane vs Batman seems like a possibility.” A fourth one exclaimed, “That ain’t Natalie Portman, that’s Natalie THORtman! HOLY HELL, SHE’S RIPPED!” Someone else praised Portman’s resemblance to Mighty Thor in the comics, “Natalie Portman really just said Mighty Thor comic accuracy.”

In related news, a new set video may have hinted at how Jane becomes the Mighty Thor. During the filming set on what looks like a memorial of Odin with the backdrop of the ocean, Jane was spotted looking at the broken pieces of Mjolnir. Thor’s weapon was destroyed into shards by Hela (Cate Blanchett) in “Thor: Ragnarok”.
Later, Portman’s stunt double was suspended in the air as she filmed a scene where Jane is jolted as if she gets electrocuted. It appears that Jane’s visit to Odin’s memorial triggers some kind of reaction from the Mjolnir shards that gives her both the mythical hammer and the abilities of the Mighty Thor.
Besides Portman, the fourth installment of the “Thor” film series will see Chris Hemsworth returning as Thor and Tessa Thompson back as Valkyrie. Christian Bale is cast as the villain, Gorr the God Butcher, while Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Sean Gunn are reprising their “Guardians of the Galaxy” roles.
Taika Waititi serves as the director for the movie, which is slated for a May 6, 2022 release in the United States.

Riz Ahmed Claims 'Sound of Metal' Changes the Way He Looks at Life

    Amazon Studios

Calling the making of the movie ‘the most challenging, the most immersive, the most intense experience’ of his life, the actor says that it also make him a better listener.

    Mar 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – Riz Ahmed doesn’t need the accolades and awards to prove his new film, “Sound of Metal”, is a hit – he knew he was part of something special while he was making the film.
The actor, who plays a drummer battling the loss of his hearing in the movie, is an early Oscars favorite for Best Actor but his reward for making the film came as he wrapped the project.
“This film was really the most challenging, the most immersive, the most intense experience of my life and the day we finished I told our director, Darius, if no one sees this film I’m still happy, because it just kind of changed me; it changed all of us…,” Riz tells “Good Morning America”. “It was a labor of love.”
“It kinda changed the way I look at life, spending so much time with the deaf community, learning [to play] the drums, it opened me up in new ways.”

      See also…

“The fact that people are seeing it, let alone responding to it like this, is just the most mind-blowing bonus.”

And the film made him a better listener, even though he was playing a deaf person.
“My sign instructor… and the whole deaf community that he introduced me to in New York, I kind of think that they’re the best listeners I’ve ever met, because listening isn’t something you just do with your ears; it’s something you do with your whole body…”
“On the film set, I was using audio blockers at times for when my character starts to lose his hearing – just to simulate that experience – and it made me listen with my body… The deaf community taught me the true meaning of listening, the true meaning of communication.”

Ewan McGregor Blocked From Alan McGee Biopic Due to His Look

    WENN

The ‘Star Wars’ star was originally tipped to front the ‘Creation Stories’ but the man who inspired the movie vetoed the plan because the actor was too good-looking.

    Mar 7, 2021
AceShowbiz – Creation Records boss Alan McGee urged filmmakers to reconsider plans to ask Ewan McGregor to play the music mogul in a new biopic because he was too good looking.
McGregor’s “Trainspotting” co-star Ewan Bremner eventually landed the role of McGee in “Creation Stories”, but the mastermind behind bands like Oasis and Primal Scream has revealed the “Star Wars” actor was initially lined up to portray him.
“They proposed Ewan McGregor to me,” Alan tells NME.com. “I went, ‘I don’t look like that! I’m not a good looking chap! I’m just a wee guy from Glasgow.’ ”
“Then they went, ‘What about Spud (Bremner’s Trainspotting character)?’ I was like, ‘F**king right!’ He’s such a great actor, Ewen Bremner. He gets me. He so gets me.”
