Zack Snyder Dedicates His 'Justice League' Super Cut to Late Daughter Following Her Suicide

    Vero

The DC filmmaker opens up about his departure from the superhero movie back in 2017, admitting he ‘lost the will to fight’ for the film following daughter’s tragic death.

    Feb 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Filmmaker Zack Snyder “lost the will to fight” for his version of the “Justice League” movie after struggling to come to terms with the tragic death of his daughter.
Snyder stepped down as director of the 2017 superhero blockbuster after his adopted child Autumn committed suicide and, although he was already deep into the post-production stage of the project, he didn’t have the strength to challenge the changes his replacement, Joss Whedon, made to his original vision.
Discussing why he and his production partner and wife Deborah walked away from the film, he said, “We just lost the will to fight that fight in a lot of ways. All of us, the whole family, we’re just so broken by (losing Autumn) that having those conversations in the middle of it really became… I was like, ‘Really?’ ”
“Frankly I think we did the right thing because I think it would’ve been either incredibly belligerent or we (would have) just rolled over.”
Whedon’s final release was poorly received by fans and critics alike, and now, Snyder is preparing to unveil his own super cut of “Justice League”.

He admits he has no plans to check out Whedon’s version because he was warned against doing so by both his wife and his director pal Christopher Nolan, who had viewed the film at a private screening before its original release.
“They came and they just said, ‘You can never see that movie,’ ” Snyder told Vanity Fair.
Now he’s been given the opportunity to premiere his take as a four-hour movie on U.S. streaming service HBO Max next month (Mar21), but Snyder didn’t want to release his cut without additional finishing touches.
The reworked “Justice League” also concludes with a tribute to his late daughter, the only one of Snyder’s eight kids to share his love of sci-fi and mythical creatures – and he credits her for inspiring his latest work.
“At the end of the movie, it says ‘For Autumn,’ ” Snyder said. “Without her, this absolutely would not have happened.”

Sienna Miller: Chadwick Boseman Emotional Hug on Last Day of '21 Bridges' Filming Felt Like Goodbye

    STX Entertainment

The ‘American Sniper’ actress remembers working on the movie set with the late ‘Black Panther’ actor, saying she was astounded by his work ethic amid his secret battle with cancer.

    Feb 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Actress Sienna Miller is still in awe of Chadwick Boseman’s performance in their 2019 action thriller “21 Bridges” because she had no idea he was battling cancer.
The “Black Panther” star was secretly fighting colon cancer at the time of the movie’s shoot in 2018, but Miller insists he never let on he was ill even though he was so thin and tired in between takes on set.
In an interview with The Sunday Times Culture magazine, she said, “I would never have known he was sick to the degree he was. But I could tell he was really tired in a way that now makes sense.”
“It never affected the work. But he was very thin. Thinner when we went back to reshoot. It is astounding he was at that stage of a battle and we made that film.”
Miller also recalls how emotional Boseman was when they wrapped filming and were saying their farewells.

“I remember when I said goodbye, the last time I saw him,” she shared. “In reflection, which is often the case, it felt like a real goodbye. And I remember being really moved, but also really confused.”
“He had tears in his eyes and it was a hug and I felt it was the sweetest thing ever, and never saw him again. But it makes sense of course. You put the pieces together in the aftermath.”
Miller had previously heaped praise on Boseman, who died last summer (20), for giving up part of his own salary for “21 Bridges” to ensure she was better paid and it’s inspired her to continue fighting for what she’s worth.
She said, “For many years I underestimated myself to such a degree I would’ve accepted anything.”
“But Chadwick’s gesture and the way women in my industry are talking about (pay equality) is empowering. I’d feel embarrassed now to not fight for myself. But it can take me being put into that corner to do something.”

Kate Winslet Thought She'd Died While Husband Blacked Out When Freediving for 'Avatar 2'

    WENN

The ‘Titanic’ actress feared she’d died while doing the dangerous stunt for the upcoming ‘Avatar’ sequel while her hubby Ned Rocknroll fainted when training with her.

    Feb 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Kate Winslet was convinced she’d “died” making “Avatar 2”.
The actress learned to freedive for the film – in which she will play Ronal – and has broken Tom Cruise’s film record by holding her breath under water for seven minutes and 14 seconds.
Though Kate thought the experience was “wonderful,” she was also aware of how dangerous it was.
“God, it’s just wonderful. Your mind completely drifts off. You can’t think about anything, you can’t make lists in your head, you’re just looking at the bubbles underneath you…” she recalled during the interview with Observer magazine.
“My first words (when I resurfaced) were, ‘Am I dead?’ Yes, I thought I’d died.”

Kate’s husband, Ned Rocknroll, trained with her and although he got “quite good,” he struggled spending too long under water.
“You have to have someone there. Ned trained with me and he got quite good at the breath holding as well. But he did… black out,” she added.
Kate Winslet was not the only cast doing her own stunt for the upcoming “Avatar” sequel.
71-year-old Sigourney Weaver, who is returning for the follow-up after starring in the first movie, was also determined to tackle difficult underwater scenes.
While admitting she was initially overwhelmed by the amount of underwater scenes in the script, she worked hard to prove she wouldn’t need a diving double.
“I had some concerns, but that’s what the training was for,” she previously told the New York Times’ T magazine. “And I really wanted to do it. I didn’t want anyone to think, ‘Oh she’s old, she can’t do this.’ ”

Daniel Kaluuya Unsure If He Will Be Back for 'Black Panther 2'

    Walt Disney Pictures

The ‘Get Out’ actor says he still hasn’t signed on for the upcoming ‘Black Panther’ sequel which is expected to retire the titular character played by the late Chadwick Boseman.

    Feb 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Daniel Kaluuya is uncertain about whether he will appear in the “Black Panther” sequel.
The 31-year-old actor played the role of W’Kabi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster – the best friend of the late Chadwick Boseman’s titular hero T’Challa – and is satisfied to do “whatever the story needs” in Ryan Coogler’s project.
Asked about a role in the sequel, Daniel told journalist Jemele Hill on her podcast “Jemele Hill Is Unbothered”, “I have no idea. I speak to Ryan, I’m not gonna go, ‘Yo (put me in the movie).’ He’s living his life and working hard.”
“Whatever the story needs, you know? That (first movie) was a moment for us, and I don’t want to go like, ‘I’m trying to be in it just because I want it.’ It’s for us, I’m a fan.”

      See also…

He added to Jemele Hill, “I’m that kind of person if the story and the piece is better without me, I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m gonna watch this’, because I really wanna watch it. And if I’m in it and I’m able to serve it, then I’m in it. And I just stay in that position.”
Daniel also admits the absence of Chadwick – who tragically passed away from cancer in August 2020 – is “going to be a huge loss” for the movie.
The “Get Out” star explained, “He was the centre. He was the glue. It’s going to be a huge loss. That’s going to be felt, you know?”
“But I feel the way, when I’ve spoken to people part of the cast and the energy and the character of everyone, everyone is ready to honour what he gave in that moment. We can’t even put our head around what he gave in that moment, to us and to everyone. So I feel everyone’s ready to honour him and suit up, but the loss is unquantifiable.”

Jennifer Lawrence Rumored to Join 'Fantastic Four' Reboot

    WENN/Apega

Amid reports that the ‘Winter’s Bone’ actress is set to arrive in Australia next month to film the upcoming remake by Jon Watts, fans are praising the original cast lineup for the 2005 movie.

    Feb 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – After wrapping up her character Raven’s storyline in the “X-Men” film series, Jennifer Lawrence is likely joining another Marvel superhero franchise. Words are the Academy Award-winning actress is set to star in an upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot.
According to The Daily Telegraph (via Daily Mail), the Katniss Everdeen of “The Hunger Games” film series is heading Down Under in March to film “Fantastic Four (2022)”. The news outlet reported that the project, which has Jon Watts on board as director, is set to “bed down” in Australia “for the foreseeable future.”
“There is nowhere in the world where films can be shot in the way they can be here in Australia,” an alleged studio source told the paper. There’s no word on other cast members for the “Fantastic Four” remake as Marvel has not addressed the casting reports.
Meanwhile, Deadline’s senior film reporter Justin Kroll, who is known for his reliable scoops, seemingly begged to differ. Hinting that the project is still in early development, he tweeted on Saturday, February 20, “All I’m gonna say is this, Marvel just started meeting with writers on FANTASTIC FOUR, there is no script and it will be awhile before this film starts shooting.”

Justin Kroll shared an update on the status of ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot.

Amid the unconfirmed casting news of Lawrence, fans were praising the original cast lineup for 2005’s “Fantastic Four”. The movie starred Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, Jessica Alba as Susan Storm, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm.
“they were actually great as the Fantastic 4 but y’all ain’t ready for that conversation,” one fan tweeted along with photos of the four main actors from the said movie. Another echoed the sentiment, “oh.. I just want them bc they’re the only ones who can pull off fantastic 4.”
A third one said the original lineup is “the only fantastic 4 I acknowledge,” while someone else particularly raved over Alba’s portrayal of Susan Storm, “jessica alba was so good as sue storm in fantastic 4.”
Lawrence recently wrapped up the filming of Netflix’s political satire disaster comedy film “Don’t Look Up”, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothee Chalamet among other A-list actors. Should she really be cast in the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot, she will likely take the role of Susan.
Previous attempt to remake the superhero film franchise didn’t end well, as 2015’s “The Fantastic Four” was widely panned by critics and a box office bomb. Directed by Josh Trank, it features Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell as the titular superheroes.

Anne Hathaway Uncovers She Was 'Ninth Choice' for Andy Sachs in 'The Devil Wears Prada'

    Twentieth Century Fox

The Academy Award winner makes the revelation about her notable role in the 2006 film when sharing words of encouragement to the contestants of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’.

    Feb 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – Anne Hathaway has confessed she was the ninth choice for the lead role in her hit movie “The Devil Wears Prada”.
The actress starred as magazine assistant Andy Sachs in the 2006 film, opposite Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, but Anne claims she could have easily missed out on the part.
Speaking to the contestants of TV talent show “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, Anne explained, “I will give you some tea [gossip], I was the ninth choice for ‘Devil Wears Prada’. But I got it! Hang in there, never give up.”

Rachel McAdams reportedly turned down the role, while Claire Danes and Juliette Lewis were also considered, before Anne was finally offered the job.

The “Les Miserables” star has previously admitted she wasn’t first in line for the gig, but she didn’t explain just how far down the filmmakers’ wish list she had been for the role of Sachs.
She said in 2016, “I didn’t have to audition. I had to be patient. I wasn’t the first choice.”
Speaking about when she found out she got the part, she said, “I was putting on a shirt, I had some buddies over. I remember running out in my living room, half dressed, screaming – I got ‘The Devil Wears Prada’! I got ‘The Devil Wears Prada’!”
And, although Anne loves the movie, she doesn’t think there should ever be a sequel.
She said, “I’m not sure if ‘could [there be a sequel?]’ is the right question. Should there be? I’d love to make a movie with all the people again that’s something totally different. But I think that one might have just hit the right note. It’s good to leave it as it is.”

Brett Ratner's Planned Hollywood Comeback Met With Severe Criticism From Time's Up

    WENN/FayesVision

Tina Tchen, the president and CEO of the anti-sexual misconduct group, calls out Millennium Media for collaborating with the ‘Rush Hour’ director on a biopic about R’n’B duo Milli Vanilli.

    Feb 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – Filmmaker Brett Ratner’s planned Hollywood comeback has been condemned by activists at anti-sexual misconduct group Time’s Up.
The “Rush Hour” director is preparing to return to work on a biopic about R&B duo Milli Vanilli, more than three years after a group of women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, came forward with claims of sexual harassment and misconduct against Ratner.
He denied all accusations of improper conduct, but lost a production deal with Warner Bros. studio bosses.
Ratner has been laying relatively low ever since, but now he is hoping to move forward by developing the musical passion project via his own firm, RatPac Entertainment, in collaboration with officials at Millennium Media, reports Deadline.
However, the news has been slammed by Tina Tchen, the president and CEO of the Time’s Up Foundation.

      See also…

“TIME’S UP was born out of the national reckoning on workplace sexual harassment,” she declared in a statement.
“Our movement is a product of countless courageous acts by many survivors, including those who spoke out about what they endured at the hands of Brett Ratner.”
“Not only did Ratner never acknowledge or apologize for the harm he caused, but he also filed lawsuits in an attempt to silence the voices of survivors who came forward – a tactic right out of the predator’s playbook. You don’t get to go away for a couple years and then resurface and act like nothing happened. We have not – and will not – forget. And Millennium Media shouldn’t either. There should be no comeback. #wewontforgetbrett.”

Representatives for Ratner, his company, and his new production partners have yet to comment on the uproar.
Ratner last stepped behind the camera to direct Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s 2014 movie “Hercules”.

Kate Hudson Understands Criticisms Over Her Autism Movie but Insists Lots of Love Was Put Into Film

    IMAX

The ‘Deepwater Horizon’ actress insists there was no negative intention behind the Sia-directed movie although she understands why some people feel apprehensive.

    Feb 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – Kate Hudson has acknowledged the backlash surrounding the portrayal of autism in her new film “Music”, insisting it’s “an important conversation to have.”
“Music”, singer Sia’s directorial debut, features the “Almost Famous” star as a recently-sober drug dealer who is suddenly made the guardian of her younger sister, a non-verbal special needs teen, played by dancer/actress Maddie Ziegler, who is not on the autism spectrum.
However, the movie has offended so many in the community and has even prompted calls for Hollywood Foreign Press Association bosses to pull the project’s two Golden Globe nominations.
Hudson insists there was no intention to offend with the project, but she can understand why people are so outraged.

      See also…

“I think when people see the film, that they will see the amount of love and sensitivity that was put into it,” she told U.S. talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. “But it is an important conversation to have, not just about this movie, but as a whole – about representation.”
“For me, when I hear that there’s anybody that feels left out I feel terrible,” she continued. “It’s an ongoing and important dialogue to be had, about neurotypical actors portraying neurodivergent characters. It is an important one to have with people with experts and who know how to engage in the conversation. I encourage it, truly. I think that it’s important to say that we are listening.”
And despite the negative reactions to “Music”, Hudson is still “really excited” about her Golden Globe nod for Best Musical/Comedy Actress, adding, “I really wasn’t expecting it at all. It was very exciting.”
“Music” is also up for Best Musical/Comedy Picture at the upcoming ceremony.
Sia recently apologised following criticism of one scene, in which an autistic character is restrained, promising to attach a warning to the movie stating the film “in no way condones or recommends the use of restraint on autistic people.”
