Lil 'Kim Wants Teyana Taylor for Her Biopic

    WENN

The ‘Magic Stick’ femcee would love to have the ‘K.T.S.E.’ star play her as she hints at developing a movie about her life and career in the entertainment industry.

    Jan 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Lil’ Kim has casted her vote as to who should play her in a biopic – Teyana Taylor.
The “Magic Stick” star has been hinting that a film about her life and career is in the works, and told Essence magazine that she’s already has her eye on a potential person to star as her.
“It can only be a girl that’s from the hood that I’m from (to portray me),” she said. “There’s nobody else in the industry at all but Teyana.”
But if “Coming to America 2” star Teyana isn’t available for the gig, Kim might look closer to home and cast an unknown from her hometown of Brooklyn in the biopic.
“I love Teyana, but she’s from Harlem. Before Teyana, I would love to get some little girls from Brooklyn a chance so I can connect. Really connect,” she mused.

Kim was previously portrayed on screen by Naturi Naughton in 2009’s “Notorious”, but was never a fan of the film – which told the story of her ex, murdered rapper Notorious B.I.G.
“I hate that movie. To me, it was like a spoof. It was something that I would have never approved. I didn’t like who played me. No. No, no, no, no,” she said at the time.
The rapper also dissed Naughton in a previous interview, “I would have never picked Naturi. She doesn’t have a Lil’ Kim aura at all! She looks nothing like I looked back then. We have NO similarities. Watching her on-screen was so ‘dreadful’ as Simon Cowell would say. She is tasteless and talentless.”
Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, hit back at Lil’ Kim, “She felt the character we chose for her was too dark… Do you know why the character was too dark for her? Because she’s a white woman trapped in a black woman’s body, and you can tell the world I said it, because those are Lil’ Kim’s words. She should be ashamed of herself.”
Meanwhile, Naughton said, “I did my absolute best. I decided, if I’m going to do Lil’ Kim, I’m going to murder it. I’m not going to halfway this character.”
She went on, “I learned everything. I embraced the tone, the style, the swag, Brooklyn; I made sure the best way that I could. I wanted to honor her because she was so dope and I grew up loving the Notorious B.I.G. and Junior Mafia. It was legendary. So I just wanted to do it justice.”

Maria Bakalova Almost Snubbed 'Borat Subsequent Moviefilm' Because It's 'So Fake'

    Amazon Studios

The Bulgarian actress, who raked in numerous accolades for her role in the second ‘Borat’ movie, almost missed out Sacha Baron Cohen’s movie because she thought it’s not legit.

    Jan 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Red hot awards favourite Maria Bakalova auditioned for “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” as a joke because she was convinced the project was “so fake.”
The Bulgarian actress has received more than 20 award nominations for her role as young journalist Tutar Sagdiyev in Brit Sacha Baron Cohen’s acclaimed follow up to 2006 comedy “Borat”, and she’s already notched at least 10 wins.
She feels a little silly now because she was convinced the film project wasn’t “legit” when she tried out.

“It was basically a friend of mine (who) told me, ‘They are researching for a lead actress for a big project Hollywood movie’, and I was like, ‘Oh no, that sounds so fake, it’s not even possible (sic),’ ” she laughed during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show”.
But when she found herself with a spare couple of hours one day, she decided to record a self-taped audition on her phone just in case the job was for real and a few hours later, she heard back from the film’s producers who tried to set up a video call with her to discuss the movie.
But when she grabbed her phone she had no signal to make the connection, and had to turn to the producers of a production she was working on for help. “I asked my producers and directors to drive me to the nearest city… and then I catch a little bit of wifi (sic),” she explained.

Britney Spears' Conservatorship Feud Chronicled in New Documentary

    Instagram

An upcoming documentary titled ‘Framing Britney Spears’ is expected to offer details of the conservatorship drama as a part of ‘The New York Times Presents’ series.

    Jan 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Britney Spears’ conservatorship battle will be the subject of a new documentary, titled “Framing Britney Spears”.
The “Toxic” singer is currently locked in a legal battle against her father, Jamie Spears, to have him permanently removed from her conservatorship. Britney no longer wants him to have control over her life, as he has done since her conservatorship began following her public breakdown in 2008.
The singer’s fans, concerned about the pop star’s wellbeing, started advocating for her freedom with the hashtag #FreeBritney, and their fight will also form part of the documentary, which will air on FX and Hulu on 5 February (21).
A description for the film reads, “People close to Britney Spears and lawyers tied to her conservatorship now reassess her career as she battles her father in court over who should control her life.”
A teaser features interviews with several people involved in the #FreeBritney movement.

“Framing Britney Spears” will air as the sixth episode of “The New York Times Presents” series’ first season.
In November 2020, Britney was denied a request to have her father immediately removed from her conservatorship. As a response, the “Piece of Me” hitmaker is reportedly refusing to return to the stage until Jamie steps down from overseeing her affairs.
Meanwhile, Jamie questioned the logic in having him removed from the conservatorship completely, claiming he was the one who saved Britney’s estate from drowning in debt and actually turned fortunes around to build up a value of $60 million.
He previously stepped down from his role in September 2019, citing poor health following allegations that he abused Britney’s son. Jamie handed temporary conservatorship over to Britney’s care manager Jodi Montgomery. However, he resumed his duties in January.
Both sister Jamie Lynn Spears and brother Bryan insisted they had Britney’s interests at heart.

    Instagram

During an appearance on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, the ‘WandaVision’ star also spills on what happened when he got Robert Downey Jr. on the phone to talk to his 9-year-old.

    Jan 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – Actor Paul Bettany’s kids aren’t remotely interested in dad’s Marvel movie stardom.
The Brit, who’s winning rave reviews for his role as robot Vision on new Disney+ TV series “WandaVision”, shares two kids with his wife Jennifer Connelly – 17-year-old Stellan and Agnes Lark, nine – but they seem non-plussed that their father, who also voiced Iron Man Tony Stark’s virtual assistant JARVIS, has become a Marvel favorite.
“If my kids are impressed by me, they’re doing an incredible job hiding it from me,” he tells superfan Kelly Clarkson on her daytime talk show. “So no, they don’t seem to be.”

“My daughter has just always tortured me with preferring other superheroes to me and now what she’s done is just moved on entirely from Marvel and said she’s only interested in ‘Star Wars’. I mean, she’s an incredibly cruel child, you know.”

But dad’s not the only big star she has turned down. “She told me she prefers Iron Man (character) to me…,” he adds. “I told Robert Downey (Jr.) and then Downey got on the phone with her. At that point she’d already moved onto (Marvel ‘Avengers’ co-star) Mark Ruffalo, you know. She wasn’t going to actually give that to Downey. It was very funny.”
Bettany made his debut as Vision in 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. Following his character’s demise in “Avengers: Endgame”, the character’s story transitions to small screen with the the Disney+ series.

'No Time to Die' Release Date Bumped Again to Fall

    Universal Pictures

The newest installment of the spy film franchise is among the latest movies which releases are postponed amid the continuously rising number of coronavirus cases.

    Jan 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – “No Time to Die” is facing yet another delay. After pushed back several times to April 2 of this year, the upcoming installment of the British spy film series has been postponed again for a fall release. MGM announced on Thursday, January 21 that the movie is going to hit theaters on October 8.
Billed as the last James Bond film featuring Daniel Craig as the 007 agent, the Cary Joji Fukunaga-directed flick was originally slated to arrive in April 2020 before the coronavirus outbreak hit the U.S. It was then postponed until November 12, 2020. However, in October 2020, the movie was pushed back again to April 2021 as it became apparent that theatrical markets, especially in the United States, would not see full demand.
“Those who have their eye on the long game understand that for a film like Bond, and many others, the prestige, exclusivity, and revenue generating potential of the movie theater is still undeniable and indeed still worth waiting for,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, said of the several delays.

The latest delay was unforeseen though, as the number of coronavirus cases in the country continues to spike. On the same day MGM announced the new date for “No Time to Die”, other movies have also been postponed due to the circumstances.
They are “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway”, which is pushed back from January 15, 2021 to June 11, 2021, “Cinderella (2021)” which moves from February 5, 2021 to July 16, 2021, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” due out on November 11, 2021 after previously slated to arrive on June 11, 2021, and “Uncharted” which is postponed from October 8, 2021 to February 11, 2022.
While MGM and Sony, which hold the distribution rights for these above mentioned films, are still pushing for theatrical releases for their films, Warner Bros. has decided to bring all its 2021 slate to its streaming service.

Matthew Rhys to Turn One-Man Show 'Playing Burton' Into Audible Production

    WENN/Avalon

Speaking about bringing Richard Burton back to life through the new radio play, ‘The Americans’ actor praises his legendary fellow Welshman for ‘blazing the trail for us all.’

    Jan 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Matthew Rhys will bring his legendary fellow Welshman Richard Burton back to life in a new radio play for Audible.
The “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” star, who earned seven Oscar nominations during his career, was almost as famous for his partying and colourful off-screen love life, which included two marriages to Elizabeth Taylor – and “The Americans”‘ Rhys has been a fan of his work for decades.
When he was an 18-year-old drama student in London, the Emmy winner saw the one-man show “Playing Burton”, which was all about his hero’s life and career and told from the actor’s own perspective, and the play, written by Mark Jenkins, really changed his life.
It also follows his hildhood in an impoverished mining community in South Wales to becoming one of the most acclaimed as well as highly-paid actors in his generation. It will also feature his love affair with fellow “Cleopatra” co-star Elizabeth Taylor as well as his public battle with alcoholism and related health issues prior to his death at the age of 58.

Now he’s taking on the role for himself in a new production for Audible’s Theater programme – and he couldn’t be more honoured.
“The reason I wanted to act was because of Richard Burton,” Rhys tells Variety. “Since first seeing his incredible performance in ‘Look Back in Anger’ to still listening to his audio (recordings) of ‘Hamlet’ and ‘Under Milk Wood’. He blazed the trail for us all and showed us it was possible.”
Burton died of a brain haemorrhage, age 58, in 1984.
Catch Matthew as his acting hero on Audible Theater from 28 January (21).

Tom Holland Feared He'd Be Fired by Marvel After 'Captain America: Civil War'

    Columbia Pictures

The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ actor opens up about his anxiety of being cut as Spider-Man after making his debut as the web-crawler in the sequel to ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’.

    Jan 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tom Holland was unsure that he would continue to play Spider-Man even after making his debut as the web-crawler in “Captain America: Civil War”. In an interview for Variety’s Actors on Actors with Daniel Kaluuya, the Brit opens up about his anxiety of being fired by Marvel after filming the third Captain America movie.
“From the moment of shooting ‘Civil War’ to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, I was convinced they were going to fire me,” Holland admits. “I don’t know why. ‘Civil War’ hadn’t come out yet, and I just didn’t hear anything from anyone. I can’t really explain it. It was awful.”
Thankfully, much to Holland surprise, he didn’t get fired. “…but they didn’t – obviously. It’s been crazy, mate,” the 24-year-old actor expresses his relief as he shares how he’s been enjoying playing the friendly neighborhood superhero, “I’ve loved every minute of it.”
During the interview, Holland also details the long process of audition to nab the role. “There’s three stages of life changing,” he says. “It’s weird. The audition process was horrible. It was seven months of auditioning. I must’ve done six auditions, and they don’t tell you anything.”

      See also…

But Holland seems to have a good memory of doing a screen test in Atlanta opposite Robert Downey Jr. a.k.a. Iron Man. “There was me and six other kids, and Downey was there, so we all tested with Downey, which was crazy,” he recalls. “It’s the best audition I’ve ever done, him and I were riffing off each other. My agents told me that Marvel likes you to learn the words exactly – you can’t improvise. And then, on the first take, Downey just completely changed the scene. We started riffing with each other, and I mean, to sound like a bit of a d**k, I rang my mum afterward and was like, ‘I think I’ve got it.’ ”
Holland returned for another screen test six weeks later, where he performed a fight scene with Captain America (Chris Evans). “They flew us back to Atlanta, me and one other guy, and we did this scene, which was so surreal,” he shares. “By that point, it had been an amazing enough of an experience that if I hadn’t got the part, I would’ve felt like I’d at least achieved something to get to that point.”
The “Cherry” star says he only found out that he’s officially cast as Spider-Man through the news. “I got my computer, and my dog was sitting next to me,” he says. “I type in ‘Marvel.’ I’ve still got the article saved on my computer. It said, ‘We would like to introduce our new Spider-Man, Tom Holland.’ ”
Not being able to contain his excitement, Holland says he “broke my computer, because I flipped it up in the air.” He continues, “It fell off my bed; my dog went nuts. I ran downstairs. I was telling my family, ‘I got the part! I got the part!’ And obviously, that was right about the time when Sony had got hacked, so my brother, Harry, who’s quite tech savvy, was like, ‘No. There’s no way that’s real. They would have called you. They’ve been hacked.’ And then the studio called me and gave me the news. It was so bizarre how it happened.”
Holland is currently filming the third Spider-Man movie, which has Jon Watts back at the helm. It is currently scheduled for release on December 17, 2021 in the U.S., though its subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic has postponed the production.
