Lena Headey to Be Burlesque Dancer in New Movie 'Gypsy Moon'

    WENN

The ‘Game of Throne’ alum is set to show off her dancing skills as a burlesque dancer in an upcoming indie drama movie, which will be directed by Gigi Gaston.

    Dec 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lena Headey is set to star as a burlesque dancer in indie drama “Gypsy Moon”.
The “Game of Thrones” star has joined the cast of the indie drama, alongside “Avatar” star Sam Worthington, which is being written and directed by Gigi Gaston. Dean Scott Vazquez and Barbara Hershey are also attached.
Lena will play the title character, a burlesque dancer who, on the eve of her last dance, must go on the run to save a neighbour (Vasquez) whose life is threatened by her former long-term lover, played by Worthington. She finds her real second chance at life in the love she feels for her child.

Headey said in a statement, “Gigi is someone you can’t say no to, you just get caught up with her passion and heart. Going back to my roots of indie filmmaking has been a joy. Moving fast and making what time you have count, is what I love.”
La La Anthony, Cam Gigandet, Martin Sensmeier, and Emma Holzer are also in the cast of the project, which has recently wrapped production in Los Angeles.
Gary Pearl, Cassian Elwes, Gaston, Tommy Thompson, and Howard C. Deshong are producing.
Gaston said in a statement, “I am thankful for our amazing cast. You can write a great story but without all of these people believing in my film it would have been unrealised. Lena completed the dream. I waited a long time for her. She is my Cinderella that fit Gypsy’s slipper to a tee.”

Sia Ditches Shia LaBeouf From Her Movie, Replaces Him With Kate Hudson

    WENN

The ‘Chandelier’ hitmaker has kicked the ‘Transformers’ alum out of her movie project and enlisted Hudson to fill in the vacant spot left the embattled actor.

    Dec 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pop star Sia reworked her directorial debut to cast Kate Hudson in the lead role, after ditching Shia LaBeouf from the project.
The “Chandelier” hitmaker reveals she initially tapped the “Transformers” star to lead the cast of “Music”, but ended up making the film with Hudson, instead.
“I was going to do a narrative film, and in fact, Shia LaBeouf was cast to play Kate’s character,” Sia told Australia’s Studio 10, according to the Daily Mail. “I asked for a meeting with her, and she said she was born to do it. She could sing, she could dance, she could do it all.”
Music features Sia’s frequent collaborator Maddie Ziegler as an autistic girl who is forced to move in with her drug-dealing half-sister, played by Hudson.
Sia didn’t expand on why LaBeouf was dumped from the movie, but her comments emerge days after she weighed in on the actor’s legal troubles, following a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, singer FKA twigs, for the “relentless abuse” she allegedly suffered during their 2018-2019 romance.

Sharing a link to The New York Times report about the suit, Sia tweeted, “I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single.”
“I believe he’s very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself – stay safe, stay away.”
Sia, who previously recruited LaBeouf for her 2015 video “Elastic Heart”, added, “Also I love you @fkatwigs. This is very courageous and I’m very proud of you.”
LaBeouf has admitted to hurting people he loved in the past, but claims many of the accusations made by Twigs are untrue.
He has yet to respond to Sia’s allegations.

Crewmembers Quit 'Mission: Impossible 7' After Tom Cruise Lashes Out for Second Time

    Paramount Pictures

Several people working on the set of the upcoming seventh installment of ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie have reportedly given up their job after the main actor ranted again.

    Dec 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Five crewmembers from Tom Cruise’s new “Mission: Impossible” blockbuster have reportedly quit following a second on-set outburst from the action man about COVID-19 safety violations.
The superstar lost his cool recently when he spotted two assistants huddled around a monitor, watching playback, ignoring social distancing rules he had helped to introduce to try and keep the set coronavirus-free.
He launched into a furious rant threatening to fire anyone who didn’t take the rules seriously.
“We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf**kers,” he raged at the Warner Bros. Studios in Hertfordshire, England. “I don’t ever want to see it again, ever! And if you don’t do it you’re fired, if I see you do it again you’re f**king gone.”
The audio was leaked by The Sun on Tuesday (15Dec20), and shortly after the news hit headlines, he allegedly unleashed another tirade at cast and crewmembers – prompting a handful of staffers to resign.

“The first outburst was big but things haven’t calmed since,” a source told The Sun. “Tension has been building for months and this was the final straw. Since it became public, there has been more anger and several staff have walked.”
“But Tom just can’t take any more after all the lengths they have gone to just to keep filming at all. He’s upset others aren’t taking it as seriously as him. In the end, he’s the one who carries the can.”
Representatives for Cruise and Paramount Pictures studio officials have yet to comment on the news.
“Mission: Impossible 7”, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is due for release in November, 2021.
Production was halted in March (20) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but shoots have since taken place across Europe over the last few months. Filming has been halted a couple of times due to coronavirus-related issues.

Netflix Reacts to Dionne Warwick's Demand to Cast Teyana Taylor as Her in a Movie

    WENN/FayesVision

The streaming giant quickly responds after the ‘I’ll Never Love This Way Again’ hitmaker expresses her desire to have the ‘Woke Up Love’ singer playing her in a future film.

    Dec 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dionne Warwick’s may help her and Teyana Taylor score a deal with Netflix with one of her latest tweets. The singing legend, who has been catching attention with some of her playful shout-outs to fellow artists, has made it clear whom she’d like to play her should her life story be turned into a movie.
Having apparently made up her mind about the actress of her choice, the 80-year-old came on Twitter on Wednesday, December 16 to reveal her pick, which went to singer and dancer Teyana Taylor. And she didn’t forget to mention Netflix in the tweet, in case the streaming giant is interested in making the project come true.
“This is a case for @netflix. Please don’t ask who I would cast to play me as it would obviously be @TEYANATAYLOR,” she wrote. Teyana has since responded to Dionne’s tweet. Seemingly all in with the hypothetical project, she replied with a handful of raising hands emojis.

Teyana Taylor reacted to Dionne Warwick’s tweet.

Dionne’s tweet also didn’t go unnoticed by Netflix, which responded by writing, “taking notes.” The “Then Came You” songstress didn’t let the moment pass, hinting that she would follow it up with a serious business talk with the company as she wrote back, “I’ll call ya!”

Netflix took note of Dionne’s wish.
Dionne has been amusing her followers with her tweets that showed her interests in much younger stars. After giving a shout-out to Taylor Swift and trolling Chance The Rapper as well as The Weeknd, she recently sang praise for Billie Eilish, though she mentioned her as William Eyelash instead.
“I took the time to check out William Eyelash. Very spooky. Great vocals. @billieeilish,” so Dionne wrote on Monday. After realizing her mistake, she clarified, “I thought her name was William Eyelash from the @nbcsnl performance. I do know her name is Billie now.”
Dionne also recently updated her page to reveal “some other artist careers I really enjoy following.” They are H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Jhene Aiko, Leon Bridges, Alicia Keys, BTS (Bangtan Boys), Amber Riley and Halsey.

George Clooney Believes Tom Cruise Is 'Absolutely Right' for COVID-19 Rant on 'M:I7' Set

    WENN/Nicky Nelson/Mario Mitsis

While defending the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star’s tirade caused by violation of coronavirus guidelines, ‘The Midnight Sky’ star and director claims he would not ‘have done it quite that personally.’

    Dec 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – George Clooney has come to Tom Cruise’s defense. Shortly after the “Mission: Impossible VII” star made headlines with a leaked audio of him going on a tirade at crew members who allegedly broke COVID-19 guidelines, his fellow Hollywood heavyweight offered his opinion on the situation and stated that the actor/producer was “absolutely right.”
Speaking on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show on Wednesday, December 16, Clooney first pointed out, “He didn’t overreact because it is a problem.” He went on to share, “I have a friend who’s an AD on another TV show who just had the almost exact same thing happen with not quite as far out a response.”
Although he defended Cruise for admonishing the crew who stood too close to one another, Clooney did note during the remote interview that he might not go as far. “I wouldn’t have done it that big,” he said. “I wouldn’t have, you know, pulled people out. You’re in a position of power and it’s tricky, right? You do have a responsibility for everybody else and he’s absolutely right about that.”
The star and director of “The Midnight Sky” then explained why he believes Cruise made the right move. “And, you know, if the production goes down, a lot of people lose their jobs. People have to understand that and have to be responsible,” he pressed on. Still, he added, “It’s just not my style to, you know, to take everybody to task that way.”

      See also…

“I think it doesn’t help necessarily to point to specific people in that way and do it that…but, you know, everybody has their own style,” Clooney elaborated. “The people who were on that shoot will tell us more about it. I understand why he did it. He’s not wrong at all about that. You know, I just, I don’t know that I would have done it quite that personally, but I don’t know all the circumstances so maybe he had it 10 or 15 times before.”
The leaked audio of Cruise’s on-set rant heard him yelling, “We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf**kers.” Venting his frustration, he warned the crew, “I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever! And if you don’t do it, you’re fired, and I see you do it again you’re f**king gone. And if anyone in this crew does it… And you, don’t you ever f**king do it again. That’s it. No apologies.”
“You can tell it to the people who are losing their f**king homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education,” he explained why he’s so strict with the rules. “That’s what I sleep with every night – the future of this f**king industry!”
The seventh installment of “Mission: Impossible” is slated to be released on November 19, 2021. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, its production has been met with delays due to the COVID-19 pandemics. Back in October, filming got suspended for a week after people on the set in Italy tested positive for the virus.

Whitney Houston Biopic Casts Naomi Ackie in Lead Role After 'Exhaustive Search'

    WENN/FayesVision/Avalon

In announcing the ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ star’s casting as the late singing legend, director Stella Meghie praises ‘her ability to capture the stage presence of a global icon.’

    Dec 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Whitney Houston biopic has found its lead star. BAFTA winner and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” actress Naomi Ackie has landed the role of the late R&B diva in the project titled “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”.
Stella Meghie, who is on board to serve as director, issued a statement on Tuesday, December 15 to announce Ackie’s casting. “We spent the better part of the last year in an exhaustive search for an actress who could embody Whitney Houston,” she said.
The filmmaker cited the actress’ impressive skills when explaining why she was eventually chosen for the part. “Naomi Ackie impressed us at every stage of the process,” she gushed. “I was moved by her ability to capture the stage presence of a global icon while bringing humanity to her interior life.”
Meghie, who is known for her works behind the lens on feature films such as “Jean of the Joneses” (2016), “Everything, Everything” (2017), “The Weekend” (2018) and “The Photograph” (2020), will direct the biopic based on a script written by “Bohemian Rhapsody” scribe Anthony McCarten.

Pat Houston will produce the movie on behalf of the Whitney Houston estate, along with music producer Clive Davis, McCarten via his Muse of Fire Productions and Larry Mestel for Primary Wave Music, which is a partner of the Whitney Houston estate. Denis O’Sullivan and Jeff Kalligheri will produce and finance for Compelling Pictures, while Nicole Brown, Shary Shirazi and Brittany Morrissey will oversee the project for TriStar Pictures.
Davis, who was Houston’s longtime mentor, has also spoken up on Ackie’s casting for the biopic. Echoing Meghie’s sentiment, he said in a statement released via The Hollywood Reporter, “Naomi Ackie’s screen test was so powerful, it sent shivers up my spine. Although Whitney’s incomparable vocals are used for all the songs, Naomi’s extraordinary acting range enables her to masterfully capture Whitney’s unique charm, star power, and, of course, her personal struggles. Naomi is the real deal and I can’t imagine a better choice for this iconic role.”
The Houston estate added, “All Whitney fans have an appetite for perfection when it comes to Whitney and her legacy. To transform someone into a matchless icon is virtually impossible. But with careful consideration, Naomi Ackie was selected based on her quality performances and her deep commitment to emerging into the woman that we all loved. We look forward to taking this journey with her.”
With the consent of the Houston estate, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” will be able to use Houston’s catalog, including her vocals. A 2014 Lifetime TV movie about the late superstar, “Whitney”, directed by Angela Bassett, wasn’t approved by the Houston estate and thus was not able to reproduce all the hit singles in the singer’s canon.
The upcoming feature film has been billed as a “joyous, emotional and heart-breaking celebration of the life and music of the greatest female R&B pop vocalist of all time, tracking her journey from obscurity to musical superstardom.”

Tom Cruise Caught Going on Tirade at 'Mission: Impossible 7' Crew for Breaking COVID Rules

    WENN

The Ethan Hunt depicter is furious after reportedly seeing two of the crew standing too close to one another on the production set in London, threatening to fire any of them if he ever sees it again.

    Dec 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Cruise went off on “Mission: Impossible VII” crew for violating COVID-19 guidelines on the London set. The 58-year-old actor was caught throwing an expletive-laden rant after allegedly seeing two crew members standing too close to one another in front of a computer screen.
In an audio obtained by The Sun, the Ethan Hunt depicter, who also produces the movie, expressed his frustration at the crew. “We are the gold standard,” he yelled at them. “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us! Because they believe in us and what we’re doing! I’m on the phone with every f**king studio at night, insurance companies, producers and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf**kers.”
He warned them, “I don’t ever want to see it again.
Cruise continued, “So I’m sorry, I am beyond your apologies. I have told you, and now I want it, and if you don’t do it, you’re out. We are not shutting this f**king movie down! Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re f**king gone.”

      See also…

Asking for their cooperation, Cruise asked the crew, “Am I clear? Do you understand what I want? Do you understand the responsibility that you have? Because I will deal with your reason. And if you can’t be reasonable and I can’t deal with your logic, you’re fired. … I trust you guys to be here.”
Cruise has been strict about enforcing COVID-19 guidelines on the set of the film in Britain after 12 people on set in Italy were said to have tested positive. He even took a great length to ensure the safety of the crew by paying £500,000 to rent an old cruise ship for the cast and crew to isolate on.
“Tom has taken it upon himself, along with the health and safety department, to try to force the safety precautions, with a view to keeping the film running,” a source tells the site. “He does daily rounds to make sure that everything is set up appropriately, that people are behaving and working as safely as they can. He is very proactive when it comes to safety.”
Of what setting him off that day, the source says, “Everyone was wearing masks. It was purely that these people were standing under a metre away from each other. It isn’t known whether he saw those guys breaking the rules before or whether this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. People make mistakes and they slip up, but Tom is just on it.”
“Mission: Impossible VII” is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and set for release on November 19, 2021.

Jon Hamm Set to Begin Filming 'Fletch' Remake in Spring 2021

    WENN

The ‘Mad Men’ actor is expected to start the production on the new adaptation of the 1985 comedy thriller originally starring Chevy Chase in spring next year.

    Dec 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jon Hamm has revealed the “Fletch” reboot will begin filming in Spring 2021.
The 49-year-old actor will play the investigative reporter M. ‘Fletch’ Fletcher in a new adaptation of the 1985 comedy thriller that starred Chevy Chase in the lead role. And in an interview with Collider, he explained he hopes to begin filming in New York by early 2021.
Jon told Collider, “We’re hoping to start shooting in the springtime, in New York City – you know, fingers crossed. We’ve got an excellent script, and an excellent director attached, and we’re going to start casting soon.”
“It’s big shoes to fill, obviously. But as I’ve mentioned in previous conversations, it’s a reboot, it’s not a remake, so we’re going back to the novels and really breaking it down but hopefully bringing what people want to see. So, fingers crossed!”

      See also…

The new movie is being directed by “Superbad” filmmaker Greg Mottola, with the plot based on the second novel in Gregory McDonald’s book series, “Confess, Fletch”.
The story sees Fletch caught in the middle of multiple murders – one of which pins him as the main suspect. As he seeks to prove his innocence, Fletch has to find his fiancee’s stolen art collection, acquired after her father goes missing and is presumed dead.
The script has been penned by Zev Borrow, who has worked on the “Lethal Weapon” television series. Hamm will serve as a producer on the flick – with manager Connie Tavel – which will be distributed by Miramax.
Connie said, “Producing this film with Jon has been a longtime dream and with Zev and Greg on board to write and direct, I really believe that this will be an exciting and modern re-imagining of this beloved character.”
The original flick was a box office hit which led to Chase reprising the role in a less successful sequel, “Fletch Lives”, in 1989.
