The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ actor also clarifies that his character in an upcoming Pixar film is different from the one voiced by Tim Allen, claiming, ‘This one is gonna special.’

    Dec 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Evans has landed a new role post-his Captain America days. The actor has been announced to voice Buzz Lightyear in a new Pixar movie. Titled “Lightyear”, the upcoming movie will tell the origin story of the original astronaut whom the toy in the “Toy Story” film series is based on.
Retweeting Pixar’s post of a teaser of “Lightyear” that appears to show a brief intergalactic voyage before featuring the film’s title, he wrote on Thursday, December 10, “I don’t even have the words.” He added in another tweet, “And just to be clear, this isn’t Buzz Lightyear the toy. This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on.”

Chris Evans tweeted about his Buzz Lightyear role.
Evans also shared his excitement about scoring the voice role on his Instagram page. Along with a picture of the character, he wrote, “Working with Pixar is a dream come true. I’ve been a massive fan of their films since the very beginning. My team could barely contain their excitement when they told me that Pixar had a pitch for me. All they said was ‘Buzz Lightyear’.”

Assuring that he isn’t replacing Tim Allen, who originated the character in the “Toy Story” movies, he continued, “I didn’t know what that meant, since Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear, and no one could ever touch his performance. I needed to know how this character was different and why this story was worth telling. I can say 2 things with absolute confidence: 1.. I didn’t stop smiling through the ENTIRE pitch. Ear to ear. 2. Everyone can rest easy. And get very excited.”
The 39-year-old hunk went on telling fans, “Trust me when I say that they REALLY know what they’re doing over there. This one is gonna special, and it doesn’t step on a single thing. I can’t even put my excitement into words. I smile every time I think about it. #LIGHTYEAR.”

Disney broke the news about “Lightyear” during its Investor Day 2020 on Thursday. The studio announced that the new movie is slated to hit theaters on June 17, 2022. Other details, including who will be directing and is writing the script, are currently not available.

'Dune' Director Furious at Warner Bros. Over Decision to Release Movie on HBO Max

    Legendary Entertainment/Chiabella James

Denis Villeneuve has publicly called out the movie studio for their decision to release his movie on the streaming service on the same day it hits theaters.

    Dec 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Dune” director Denis Villeneuve has penned an op-ed slamming Warner Bros. for their decision to release his movie on HBO Max, as part of a huge new deal with the streaming platform.
The Oscar-nominated director opened up about his feelings surrounding the move in the piece for Variety, as he also revealed that he found out about the deal by reading about it in the news – just like everyone else.
“I learned in the news that Warner Bros. has decided to release Dune on HBO Max at the same time as our theatrical release, using prominent images from our movie to promote their streaming service,” he wrote. “With this decision AT&T has hijacked one of the most respectable and important studios in film history. There is absolutely no love for cinema, nor for the audience here.”
“Warner Bros.’ sudden reversal from being a legacy home for filmmakers to the new era of complete disregard draws a clear line for me. Filmmaking is a collaboration, reliant on the mutual trust of team work and Warner Bros. has declared they are no longer on the same team.”

Calling Dune “by far the best movie” he’s ever made, Villeneuve added that Warner Bros. “might just have killed the Dune franchise” with their decision.
Villeneuve’s op-ed comes after it was reported that Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind “Dune”, is considering filing a lawsuit against Warner Bros. over the studio’s new release plans.
“(They’re) hoping to first negotiate a more generous deal, but isn’t taking legal action off the table should the two companies fail to come to a compromise,” a source told Variety.
Legendary Entertainment also produced “Godzilla vs. Kong” – another movie which Warner Bros. is planning to release on HBO Max on the same day it hits theatres.

Harrison Ford Teams Up With 'Logan' Director to Close Out Indiana Jones' Journey

    Paramount Pictures

The Han Solo of the ‘Star Wars’ film series is set to return for the fifth and final ‘Indiana Jones’ film that is currently in pre-production and will kick off production next spring.

    Dec 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Harrison Ford is set to embark on his one last adventure as Indiana Jones. The actor has been confirmed to reprise his role as the title character in the upcoming fifth and final installment of the “Indiana Jones” film franchise.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy brought the good news to fans during the 2020 Disney Investor Day presentation on Thursday, December 3. At the event, “Logan” helmer James Mangold was also announced to be on board to direct the film.
According to Kennedy, “Indiana Jones V” will “conclude this iconic character’s journey.” Reiterating her announcement, Disney tweeted, “Lucasfilm is in pre-production on the next installment of Indiana Jones. At the helm is James @Mang0ld, director of ‘Ford v Ferrari,’ and Indy himself, Harrison Ford, will be back to continue his iconic character’s journey.”
Filming is slated to kick off in spring 2021 for a July 2022 release date. There’s no word about Chris Pratt’s involvement in the project, although the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star was previously rumored to be attached to star in the fifth “Indiana Jones” movie.

Prior to the announcement at the Disney Investor Day presentation, producer Frank Marshall revealed that Mangold has been working on the script. He also assured that Ford will not be recast in the title role.
“Yeah, we are working on the script,” he told Den of Geek. “There will only be one Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford. What I’m excited about with Jim is a great story. I think you see that in his movies like Ford vs Ferrari. It’s all about characters and telling a good story. So I’m excited to see what he comes up with. I haven’t seen (the script) yet so I don’t know what to tell you.”
The fourth “Indiana Jones” movie, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, featured Shia LaBeouf as Indy’s protege/son Mutt Williams. The film seemed to hint that Indy would pass the torch to his son, but Ford has been persistently against the idea.
“I think it just doesn’t work that way. And there’s definitely a distinction between passing the fedora and someone picking it up,” he said in 2008 of the final scene, which saw Indy’s iconic hat being blown away by wind and landed at Mutt’s feet, before Indy grabbed it out of Mutt’s hands and put it on his head again.

    Dec 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Patty Jenkins is set to lead a trip into a galaxy far, far away with her next project. The “Wonder Woman” director has been tapped to helm a new “Star Wars” movie, “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron”, becoming the first female director taking on the role for a film of the franchise.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed in a statement, “I couldn’t be more excited that our next Star Wars feature film will be directed by Patty Jenkins.” She went on revealing the premise of the new movie as saying, “Patty, director of the ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise, will bring her inspired vision to ‘Rogue Squadron’. This story will introduce a new generation of star fighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing high speed thrill ride. The legend of Rogue Squadron has been long beloved by ‘Star Wars’ fans and will move us into a future era of the galaxy.”
In a video posted on Twitter, Jenkins explained her personal reason why she’s thrilled to be working on the project. As a daughter of a late great fighter pilot, she loves speed. “Every day I would wake up and go outside and look up to see my father and his squadron taking off in the Air Force, roaring across the sky,” she shared.
“It was the most thrilling thing I’ve experienced in my entire life. So when he lost his life in service to this country, it ignited a desire in me to turn all of that tragedy and thrill into one day making the greatest fighter-pilot movie of all time,” she continued. Jenkins added that she couldn’t find the “right story ever” until now.

Ariana DeBose Credits 'The Prom' for Giving Her Full Circle Celebratory Moment

    Instagram

When appearing on ‘Good Morning America’, the dancer playing Alyssa Greene in Ryan Murphy’s new film recalls a moment from her high school dance when people stared at her for being different.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana DeBose had a “full circle” moment while dancing in new Netflix movie “The Prom” after classmates made her feel odd for stepping out with a girl at her real high school dance.
The gay star was thrilled when a school crush asked her to dance but she quickly retreated from the fun when she realised pals weren’t ready to see two girls dancing.
She tells “Good Morning America”, “It was the first time that I realised that people would start to stare at you for being different and I didn’t like it, so I grooved my way back to the punch bowl.”

“Cut to making ‘The Prom’ and I had the opportunity to have this completely full circle celebratory moment, where two girls got to dance together and be cheered for.”
    [embedded content]
The new film, starring Kerry Washington, Meryl Streep, and Nicole Kidman, revolves around a group of Broadway veterans who take over a small town prom after a gay student is forbidden from taking her girlfriend to the big dance. It debuts this weekend (December 11).
In a separate interview, Ariana revealed that she felt a little bit intimidated by the star-studded cast, though she thanked her experience in “Hamilton” for helping her overcoming it. “Hollywood came out in droves to see [‘Hamilton’],” she shared. “It did allow me to meet many of these people — whether they knew they were meeting me, I knew I was meeting them! It allowed me to get out some of those jitters ahead of time, so that when I did show up in Los Angeles to make this movie, I didn’t necessarily feel like I was going to fall apart. I could at least make a coherent sentence!”

Johnny Depp Reportedly Tries to Get Amber Heard Fired From 'Aquaman' After Split

    WENN/Warner Bros. Pictures/John Rainford

The ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ star is said to have reached out to his producer sister Christi Dembrowski to have his ex-wife replaced in the Warner Bros. movie.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Johnny Depp is clearly holding a grudge against his ex-wife Amber Heard following their explosive and messy divorce. The 57-year-old actor reportedly tried to interfere with the 34-year-old beauty’s career after they split in 2016, only one year after they tied the knot.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, in evidence presented during Judge Andrew Nicols’ court ruling in Depp’s U.K. libel case, the actor reached out to his sister, producer Christi Dembrowski, who previously had a deal with Warner Bros., to have Heard fired from “Aquaman”. “I want her replaced on the WB film,” he allegedly wrote to his sister, referring to the Jason Momoa-starring flick.
According to the site, Depp also sent angry texts about Heard, whom he met when they filmed “The Rum Diary” in 2009, to his friend and fellow actor Paul Bettany. “Let’s burn Amber!!!” Depp wrote to Bettany.

      See also…

Bettany, apparently taking it as a joke, responded, “Having thought it through I don’t think we should burn Amber – she’s delightful company and easy on the eye, plus I’m not sure she’s a witch. We could of course try the English course of action in these predicaments – we do a drowning test. Thoughts?” Depp was persistent tough, replying, “Let’s drown her before we burn her!!! I will f**k her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she’s dead.”
Heard accused Depp of being “verbally and physically abusive” throughout their relationship. In 2019, he sued the actress for $50 million for defamation over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in December 2018, which portrayed her as a domestic abuse victim and suggested that Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her. The case is still ongoing, with a trial being pushed back from October of this year to May 2021.
Depp, however, has lost his libel suit against British tabloid The Sun, which labeled him a “wifebeater” in a 2018 article. The result led him to being asked to withdraw from “Fantastic Beasts 3”, for which he was supposed to reprise his role as Gellert Grindelwald.
As for Heard, she starred in 2018’s “Aquaman” after making her debut as Mera in 2017’s “Justice League”. There has been an online petition asking for the actress to be replaced in “Aquaman 2”, but WB has not responded to it.

Dianne Wiest Looks to Never Using Script Again After Fun 'Let Them All Talk' Improvisation

    WENN/FayesVision

The ‘Bullets Over Broadway’ actress joins Meryl Streep and Candice Bergen in Steven Soderbergh’s comedy drama about an acclaimed author inviting her two college friends to a cruise.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Dianne Wiest had such a great time improvising her lines in new movie “Let Them All Talk”, she “never” wants to be tied to a script again.
The “Bullets Over Broadway” star joins Meryl Streep and Candice Bergen in Steven Soderbergh’s comedy drama, about a famous author who invites her two old college friends to join her on a cruise across the Atlantic.
The filmmaker instructed his leading ladies to make up their conversations onboard the cruise ship as they went along, and the unconventional production process was a refreshing change for the veteran actors.
“We had certain points that we had to get forward by the end of it (the scene), but it was sort of open-ended and we could talk for as long as we wanted, or as short as we wanted,” Streep told U.S. breakfast show “Today”.

      See also…

“In the beginning it was, ‘Woah…,’ ” said Bergen, “(but) once you got used to that it kept everything very vibrant and alive, and fun, actually.”

And for Wiest, the gig was a dream come true, “I love improvising, I just love it so much because you’re so really free to look at the other person and really listen and just be there.”
It was so much fun, Wiest isn’t interested in having to stick to a script on future projects. “It was heaven,” she said on America’s “Watch What Happens Live”. “I never want to use a script again!”
“Let Them All Talk” debuts on America’s HBO Max on Thursday, December 10.

'Spider-Man 3' Reported to Bring Back Charlie Cox's Daredevil

    Netflix/Patrick Harbron

Meanwhile, Tobey Maguire has been spotted visiting a costume shop for a fitting amid rumors that he’s in talks to reprise his role as Peter Parker in the upcoming MCU movie.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – MCU is about to be expanded in “Spider-Man 3”. Following rumors about the return of several familiar faces from previous “Spider-Man” franchises, it’s now reported that the upcoming movie will also bring back a superhero from Marvel’s TV series.
According to Murphy’s Multiverse, Charlie Cox, who starred as the titular character on Netflix’s “Daredevil”, is set to reprise the role in the Tom Holland-starring movie. He played blind lawyer Matt Murdock and his vigilante alter ego on the show from 2015 until it got canceled after three seasons in 2018.
Back in April, there had been a fan theory that Cox could possibly show up in “Spider-Man 3” as Matt Murdock, who offers Holland’s Peter Parker legal counsel after his secret identity was basically outed to the world in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”. However, the actor denied any involvement in the upcoming movie at the time, telling ComicBook.com, “I hadn’t heard those rumors, but it’s certainly not with my Daredevil. I’m not involved in it. If that’s true, it’s not with me. It’s with another actor.”
Cox, however, admitted that he’s interested in making an MCU debut at one point in the future and teaming up with Holland. “Look, I had a great time. I’m so grateful I got to play that character as long as I did. Of course, I’d love to keep going. I’d love to be involved with it,” he said.
“As a fan of the Marvel movies, I’ve loved the little stuff where they pop up here and there but because we were on Netflix, we weren’t able to do as much for legal reasons, I don’t know why,” he weighed in on the complicated Netflix and Disney/Marvel deal. “But I love the idea of Jessica and Matt showing up in the background or Matt as a lawyer advising Peter Parker. That’d be really, really cool.”
The rights to Daredevil and other characters that previously appeared on Netflix’s series, including Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, have recently returned to Disney and Marvel Studios though, making it possible for the studio to use any of these characters in “Spider-Man 3”.

Meanwhile, Tobey Maguire’s latest sighting has fueled speculation that he will be back as his version of the web-crawler in the “Far From Home” sequel. The actor was spotted visiting a costume shop for a fitting on Wednesday, December 9.
The Spider-Man of the Sam Raimi-directed trilogy dressed comfortably in a gray T-shirt under a navy blue puffer coat with black Nike shorts and black slides with black socks. He was wearing a face mask and carrying a water bottle as well as his cell phone when arriving at Eastern Costume.
Maguire’s arrival for a costume fitting comes after it’s reported that he was still in talks to reprise his role as Spider-Man in Marvel/Sony’s “Spider-Man 3”. Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst’s deal to appear in the film has reportedly been sealed.
Garfield portrayed Peter Parker a.k.a. the web-crawler in 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” and its 2014 sequel. As for Dunst, she played Peter’s love interest Mary Jane opposite Maguire in Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy. Both actors are reportedly set to reprise their respective role.
Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are allegedly said to have sealed the deal to return as Doctor Octopus and Electro respectively, while other villains rumored to be featured in the film include Venom (Tom Hardy), Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Green Goblin.
“Spider-Man 3” is currently in production with Jon Watts serving behind the lens. Zendaya Coleman and Jacob Batalon are among the returning stars.
