George Clooney Hospitalized With Stomach Pains Due to Extreme Weight Loss for 'Midnight Sky' Role

    Netflix

The Oscar-winning actor reveals he landed in hospital after struggling with stomach pains due to weight loss as he prepared for his role as a desperate astronomer in a new movie.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – George Clooney was hospitalised with pancreatitis after dropping close to 30 pounds (13.6 kilograms) for his new movie, “The Midnight Sky”.
The 59 year old wanted to look the part as a desperate astronomer who had survived an apocalyptic event, but he took his weight loss plan a little too far and was rushed to the hospital with stomach pains just before filming began.
“I think I was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and probably wasn’t taking care of myself,” the Oscar winner, who spent weeks recovering, tells The Mirror.

“It took a few weeks to get better and as a director, it’s not so easy because you need energy. We were out on this glacier in Finland, which made it a lot harder work. But it certainly helped with the character.”
“I didn’t know that the guy was 70 because I hadn’t read the book when I read the screenplay,” Clooney told Deadline. “I just knew that he was really sick… I was more gaunt and more drawn in.”
“It was a balancing act. We had a skeleton crew, so we’re carrying camera boxes ourselves. You could only do a take out in the snow (in Iceland) without goggles and I could only last for about a minute and 10 or 15 seconds before my eyelids would freeze shut. So I’d have to come back in and they had a blow dryer.”
“We were sitting in a van and they would blow dry my eyelids so my eyelashes would melt. Then I’d go back out and shoot the scene again.”

'Spider-Man 3': Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst Ink Deal to Return, Tobey Maguire's In Talks

    Columbia Pictures

Besides past Peter Parkers, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy are also expected to return in the Tom Holland-starring pic.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – At this point, it’s not so secret that some familiar faces from past “Spider-Man” franchises would make appearance in the upcoming “Spider-Man 3”. While nothing has been confirmed, it’s now reported that Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst have sealed the deal to return for the Marve/Sony pic.
Garfield portrayed Peter Parker a.k.a. the web-crawler in 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” and its 2014 sequel. As for Dunst, she played Peter’s love interest Mary Jane opposite Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy. Both actors are reportedly set to reprise their respective role.
According to Collider, while Maguire has also been rumored to be part of the supposedly multiverse storyline, the actor is still in talks to return as her own version of Peter Parker. Meanwhile, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are allegedly said to have sealed the deal to return as Doctor Octopus and Electro respectively.

The site additionally reports that the movie may add Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacy in “The Amazing Spider-Man” films, if her pregnancy allows.
“Spider-Man 3” is said to feature Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, which would allow the multiverse storyline. He reportedly would fill in a mentor role that was previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.
According to FandomWire, the upcoming movie would feature “all three Spider-Men tackling many of their villains from the past, as well as new ones.” Besides Electro and Doctor Octopus, the “villains from the past” reportedly also include Venom (Tom Hardy), Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Green Goblin. We Got This Covered additionally reported that Kraven the Hunter and Scorpion would be added to the mix.
Zendaya Coleman and Jacob Batalon are tapped to return for the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel, which is set for December 17, 2021 release. Jon Watts is back as the helmer.

Jeremy Irons Joins Ridley Scott's True-Story Movie 'Gucci'

    WENN

The ‘Macbeth’ actor has allegedly been added to the star-studded cast ensemble of the upcoming true-story movie about the famed fashion designer Maurizio Gucci.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jeremy Irons has reportedly boarded Sir Ridley Scott’s star-studded “Gucci” movie.
According to Deadline, the Hollywood veteran is the latest name attached to the true crime drama, which is based on the murder of fashion trailblazer Maurizio Gucci in 1995.
It’s not currently known what role the 72-year-old Oscar-winner will play.
However, the “Assassin’s Creed” star joins an A-list cast featuring the likes of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Adam Driver, and Jared Leto.
Lady Gaga was previously confirmed to star as Patrizia Reggiani, Gucci’s ex-wife who was convicted of orchestrating his murder after he had an affair.

Patrizia served 18 years in jail before being released in 2016.
The murder of Maurizio came as he had two daughters with Patrizia but left her for another woman.
Patrizia had a brain tumour removed and her children blamed the medical procedure for her actions, but she was depicted as a hot blooded woman out for revenge and dubbed the Black Widow.
It has been claimed Giannina wanted to pursue the movie, which is framed around the rise of a family business that denigrated into squabbles over control of the business and greed, at a time when Gucci was being corporatised.
The script has been penned by Roberto Bentivegna and is based on “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed” by Sara Gay Forden.
The MGM movie is slated for release on November 24, 2021.

Amanda Seyfried Turned Down 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Because She Thought the Movie Would Tank

    WENN

The ‘Mamma Mia!’ actress admits she was very skeptical when she was offered to portray Gamora in the James Gunn-directed superhero movie about a talking tree and raccoon.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Amanda Seyfried passed on the role of Gamora in “Guardians of the Galaxy” because she didn’t want to be a part of the first big Marvel flop.
The “Mamma Mia!” star felt sure the film would bomb even though James Gunn’s script was “great”, and now admits she was “very wrong.”
“I didn’t want to be part of the first Marvel movie that bombed,” the actress tells The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast. “I said, ‘Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree and a raccoon…?’ I was very wrong.”
The film went on to make over $770 million (£576 million) at the global box office.

“The script was great; it was all based in not wanting to be ‘that guy,’ ” Amanda adds, “because if you are the star of a giant movie like that, and it bombs, Hollywood does not forgive you. I’ve seen that happen to people and it was a giant, giant fear and I thought, ‘Is it worth it?’ ”
The role eventually went to Zoe Saldana.
In the comic book movie, she was joined by Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon.
After exploring the galaxy in two standalone movies, the Marvel ragtag team of misfits eventually joined The Avengers in “Avengers: Infinity War” and then returned for “Avengers: Endgame”. Now a third “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie is currently in development as part of the Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Matthew Vaughn Keen to Turn 'Kingsman' Into New James Bond Franchise With Seven More Movies

    20th Century Fox

The filmmaker is planning seven more ‘Kingsman’ movies along with a television series, hoping to turn the action spy story into a franchise that could rival the famous 007.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Director Matthew Vaughn is planning “something like seven more” “Kingsman” movies alongside a TV series.
According to the CEO of his Marv Films production company, Zygi Kamasa, the filmmaker has numerous other projects relating to the spy franchise in the pipeline.
Kamasa told Deadline, “We want to grow the business and the output. We have a Kingsman TV series in the works and there are two-three other franchises that are being developed alongside the Kingsman world.”
The franchise consists of two movies with a prequel “The King’s Man” slated for release in 2021. A third film in the original series is also in the works and Matthew has previously revealed his desire to turn the films into a franchise to rival James Bond by exploring conflicts such as World War II.
He said, “If we go down the TV route we can explore the rise of Hitler, then go into World War II.”

“For me, it would be amazing to finally get to the Cold War.”
Matthew has also said how “The King’s Man”, which explores the origins of the Kingman secret service, will sow the seeds for the third movie in the main series.
He said of the film, which stars Ralph Fiennes and Gemma Arterton, “We’ve put seeds for what’s going to happen in Kingsman 3 all the way back into this. And it’s going to be very different.”
The “Layer Cake” director revealed that he is also considering getting behind the camera for the untitled third motion picture, having previously planned to hand over to another filmmaker.
Vaughn said, “I actually don’t know what I want to do. There is an opportunity for a director to really change it up, but I’m considering it.”

Christopher Nolan Slams Warner Bros.' 'Messy' HBO Max Plans

    WENN/TNYF

The ‘Tenet’ director is in ‘disbelief’ over the studio’s decision to release all of its 2021 movies directly on ‘the worst streaming service,’ saying that ‘their decision makes no economic sense.’

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Christopher Nolan has spoken up against Warner Bros./HBO Max deal. The studio shocked fans and blindsided filmmakers and actors with their major decision to release their entire slate of 2021 movies, including “Dune”, “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “The Matrix 4”, directly on the streaming service.
While none of Nolan’s upcoming projects is included in the Warner Bros./HBO Max deal, the filmmaker couldn’t help empathizing with other industry workers. In a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Interstellar” director slammed the studio for the decision to skip theatrical release altogether and bring their movies to “the worst streaming service.”
“Some of our industry’s biggest filmmakers and most important movie stars went to bed the night before thinking they were working for the greatest movie studio and woke up to find out they were working for the worst streaming service,” he said in the statement.
“Warner Bros. had an incredible machine for getting a filmmaker’s work out everywhere, both in theaters and in the home, and they are dismantling it as we speak,” he continued. Believing that it won’t benefit anyone, Nolan added, “They don’t even understand what they’re losing. Their decision makes no economic sense, and even the most casual Wall Street investor can see the difference between disruption and dysfunction.”
Nolan also weighed in on Warner Bros.’ decision during an interview with ET Online. Admitting that he’s in “disbelief” with the studio’s move, he called out the studio for not consulting the filmmakers beforehand.

      See also…

“In 2021, they’ve got some of the top filmmakers in the world, they’ve got some of the biggest stars in the world who worked for years in some cases on these projects very close to their hearts that are meant to be big-screen experiences,” he explained what became a major letdown in the decision. “They’re meant to be out there for the widest possible audiences… And now they’re being used as a loss-leader for the streaming service — for the fledgling streaming service — without any consultation.”
Calling it “very, very, very, very messy,” he noticed there’s “a lot of controversy” to it. He went on describing the situation, “A real bait and switch. Yeah, it’s sort of not how you treat filmmakers and stars and people who, these guys have given a lot for these projects. They deserved to be consulted and spoken to about what was going to happen to their work.”
Expressing his faith that theaters will be back on full steam once COVID-19 is under control, he said, “Long-term, I think all of the studios know that the movie theater experience will bounce back and be a very important part of the ecosystem long-term.” He went on slamming movie studios for using “the pandemic as an excuse for sort of grappling for short-term advantage.”
“And it’s really unfortunate,” the London-born filmmaker lamented. “It’s not the way to do business and it’s not the best thing for the health of our industry. But when the theaters are back and people are going back to the movies, when the vaccine has been rolled out and there’s an appropriate health response from the federal government, I’m very bullish on the long-term prospects of the industry. People love going to the movies and they’re going to get to go again.”
Nolan himself had his latest film “Tenet” released in select theaters in August, becoming the first Hollywood tentpole to open in theaters during the pandemic, before heading to digital services on December 15. Warner Bros. is also the studio behind the sci-fi action movie.
Similar to Nolan, James Gunn, whose movie “The Suicide Squad” is among Warner Bros.’ 2021 slate, is reportedly unhappy with the decision. Sources told THR that the “platform-agnostic” director was “not pleased when the studio followed its shocking announcement by floating a lackluster formula for compensating him and other profit participants” in upcoming standalone sequel to 2016’s “Suicide Squad”.
