AceShowbiz – Actress Mena Suvari has joined the cast of the forthcoming Ronald Reagan biopic as production resumes following a two-week shutdown.

According to Deadline, she’ll play the former POTUS’ first wife Jane Wyman, with the “American Beauty” star telling the publication, “I am so honoured to be part of such a phenomenal production.”

“It’s all I ever wanted for years! It’s still this process for me of believing it and accepting that something this beautiful could happen for me. It’s been a very emotional experience. It’s very weird finding out. I was like, ‘I can’t believe it!’ ”

Viola Davis Says Black Actresses Were Given 'Leftovers' in Hollywood

    InStyle Magazine/AB+DM

The ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ actress compares the disparity between white and black actresses in entertainment industry to eating a full meal instead of the leftovers.

    Nov 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Viola Davis insists the “lack of access to opportunities” for Black actresses is “huge” as she demands change across the entertainment industry.
Speaking to InStyle magazine, the Oscar winner, 55, compares the disparity to eating a full meal instead of just the leftovers, telling the publication, “I want and I expect to get the same filet mignon that white actresses get!”
“Cooked at the exact temperature. You cannot throw me a bone with a really nice little piece of meat still on it and expect that’s good enough for me,” she continues.
“I love my collard greens and all of that, and I know we were given the leftovers. I know how to cook that, but I want a filet mignon.”

The “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” star goes on to say she “fully expects changes,” adding, “I’m trying to lift my hopes up. Even if it takes a little bit of vodka. If we don’t move forward together, then we don’t move forward.”

Back in 2018, the actress also called out pay disparity between white actresses and women of color. “There are no percentages to show the difference,” she said in an interview wih Variety. “It’s vast. Hispanic women, Asian women, black women, we don’t get paid what Caucasian women get paid. We just don’t… We have the talent. It’s the opportunity that we’re lacking.”
“We’re not even invited to the table. I go to a lot of women’s events here in Hollywood, and they’re filled with female CEOs, producers and executives, but I’m one of maybe five or six people of colour in the room,” she continued.

Johnny Depp Will Get Full Salary Despite Only Working One Day on Set of 'Fantastic Beasts 3'

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor will be paid full salary by movie bosses despite leaving the third installment of the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off following his legal loss in libel trial.

    Nov 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Johnny depp won’t be out of pocket after exiting his “Fantastic Beasts” movie franchise, with the actor pocketing his full salary for the role despite only working one day on set.
Warner Bros. chiefs cut ties with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star for their “Harry Potter” spin-off movies after a judge rules against him in his libel case against bosses at The Sun newspaper. The star was labelled a “wife beater” in a 2018 article related to claims made by his ex-spouse, Amber Heard.
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, studio officials must pay the 57-year-old his full salary for the film, for which he shot one scene as Gellert Grindelwald since production kicked off in September (20).

Depp had a special provision in his contract, called pay-to-play, meaning that he would get his full salary no matter what happened to the movie, meaning he’ll take home at least $10 million (£7.6 million) for the film – despite not appearing in the flick.
Depp took to Instagram on Friday to announce he was stepping down, writing, “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request.”
He added of his legal judgement, “The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. officials have confirmed plans to recast Depp’s role as the dark wizard, which he portrayed in 2016’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and its 2018 sequel “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”. The movie has been pushed to summer, 2022.

Jeff Nichols Plans to Develop 'A Quiet Place' Spin-Off

    WENN/Dave Starbuck/Future Imag

Nichols reportedly will be reuniting with John Krasinski, who starred and directed the 2018’s blockbuster hit, to develop the new flick that will be based on Krasinski’s original idea.

    Nov 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Mud” filmmaker Jeff Nichols is set to develop a spin-off from horror movie franchise “A Quiet Place” based on an idea by John Krasinski.
According to Deadline, bosses at Paramount Pictures have recruited Nichols to write and direct the production.

      See also…

Details are being kept under wraps, but Krasinski, who co-wrote, directed and starred in the 2018 original and its forthcoming sequel, proposed the idea for the new project.
The news comes as fans await the release of “A Quiet Place Part II”, which had its prior launch in March postponed until April, 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The upcoming movie, which sees Krasinski’s real-life wife Emily Blunt reprising her role as Evelyn Abbott. It will follow Evelyn after the death of her husband Blunt (Krasinki), who died in the first movie. Along with her kids, she is forced to survive in a post-apocalyptic world in which monsters with ultra-developed hearing hunted down all humans that made noise. Evelyn must make sure her three children, including her newborn son, survive.
Of the inspiration for “A Quiet Place II”, Krasinski said back in 2019, “The idea for it is pretty simple. I’m writing now – I don’t have it fleshed out – but the thought that occurred to me, that really excited me about it, was that most sequels are about the return of a hero or a villain. You take this character that people loved once and you bring them back, and you have to create a new world around them. We have the exact opposite setup. We have the world, and you can drop whoever you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it.”

Kristen Stewart Is Mackenzie Davis' Secret Girlfriend in Trailer for Gay Rom-Com 'Happiest Season'

    [embedded content]

The ‘Charlie’s Angels’ star plays a young lesbian who travels to her girlfriend’s family home for Christmas only to have her sexuality be hidden from the conservative parents.

    Nov 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kristen Stewart is redefining holiday rom-com in Hulu’s upcoming movie “Happiest Season”. Ahead of the jolliest season of the year, the first trailer for the Christmas film has been released for viewing pleasure, centering on a young lesbian couple played by the “Twilight Saga” actress and Mackenzie Davis (“Blade Runner 2049”).
For the Yuletide, Abby (Stewart) and Harper (Davis) are traveling to the latter’s family home. But Abby’s excitement is soon spoiled after Harper informs her that she is yet to come out as lesbian to her conservative family.
Hilarity ensues as the pair try to hide their relationship as well as their sexuality from Harper’s family, while Abby’s flamboyant friend John (Dan Levy) comes to the “rescue” by joining the family’s Christmas celebration and introduces himself as Abby’s “ex-boyfriend.”
Planning to propose to Harper at her family’s annual Christmas dinner, Abby begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew. “This is why I avoid Christmas. It brings out the worst in everything,” Abby says in the video, though John later reassures her, “Everybody’s story is different. Just because Harper isn’t ready doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you.”

      See also…

According to the film’s description, “Happiest Season” is billed as “a holiday romantic comedy that hilariously captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself, and trying not to ruin Christmas.”
Clea DuVall, who directed and wrote the script, said earlier this year that she wrote the story from her “own place of truth” as a queer woman, which the cast felt added authenticity to the story.
Stewart, who is openly bisexual, said of the LBGT romance, “I grew up watching and loving conventional movies like this. Seeing [marginalized] people loving each other in the middle of something that’s so standardized was really exhilarating and freeing.” She added, “There’s a lack of confusion and generalization Clea brings [as a queer woman]. I want people to see that two girls in love is just so fun.”
Also starring Victor Garber, Mary Steenburgen, Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza and Mary Holland among others, “Happiest Season” will be available on Hulu starting November 25.
