Taylor Swift Offers Snippet of 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)' Ahead of Album Release

    ABC

The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker hypes up the upcoming release of her re-recorded album by giving her loyal fans a sneak peek at the title track in a new TV appearance.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Taylor Swift appeared on “Good Morning America” on Thursday (8Apr21) to thank fans for their support ahead of the release of her re-recorded album “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and give them a sneak peek at the title track.

The 31-year-old Grammy winner will release “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”, which includes re-recordings of 20 songs from “Fearless”, her second album at midnight. Big Machine Label Group, where she first signed at age 15, previously owned the rights to Fearless since its 2008 release, before they were sold to Scooter Braun, despite her well-publicised objections. The new version will also include six never-before-released songs.

Taylor appeared on “Good Morning America” in a pre-recorded message to fans on Thursday (8Apr21) and shared her joy over the imminent release of the new version.

“Good morning, America, it’s Taylor,” she began. “I just wanted to say, first of all, you guys have been so supportive at Good Morning America since day one of this entire process of me re-recording my music. I’m so ecstatic that my album Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will be out tonight. It’s crazy that it’s finally here.”

“I wanted to give you guys, as a thank you, an exclusive first glimpse of one of the songs on the album, the title track, ‘Fearless,’ ” she said before the 15-second clip played.

Last year, the “Shake It Off” singer was legally allowed to re-record her first five albums, which Scooter Braun gained ownership of last year following his $330 million deal with Big Machine Label Group. Braun later sold her masters to a company called Shamrock Holdings for $300 million (£259 million).

The “Bad Blood” hitmaker has already released “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” and two “From the Vault” tracks, “You All Over Me” and “Mr. Perfectly Fine”, from the album. The six previously unheard songs are ones that “almost made the original Fearless album,” she has previously explained.

How the Skagit Valley Chorale Learned to Sing Again Amid Covid

A year ago, they infamously demonstrated the dangers of singing in the pandemic. What will it take to get the choir of Washington’s Skagit Valley — and the rest of the world’s choral musicians — back together again?

The Skagit Valley Chorale last sang together in person on the evening of March 10, 2020. Earlier that day, Skagit County issued a news release on its website recommending the cancellation of gatherings of more than 10 people. But the chorale didn’t see the advisory in time. The valley, a rural expanse in northwestern Washington cupped between the Puget Sound and the North Cascades, doesn’t have a dedicated TV station, and county officials rely on radio, The Skagit Valley Herald and Skagit Breaking, an online news site, to carry announcements. “Whenever I put out news releases, I’m expecting behavior change and common knowledge not to happen for days,” Lea Hamner, the communicable disease and epidemiology lead for the county’s public health department, told me. Businesses, schools, restaurants and other public spaces were open as usual.

Mary Campbell, a tenor who worked as the district manager for the libraries in a neighboring county, spent the day in discussions about how to keep staff and patrons “safe from touching things,” like returned books. She showed up at practice feeling stressed and tired — but knowing that 2½ hours of singing with the group would, through alchemy everyone felt but couldn’t quite explain, give her uplift and energy. Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner Show Love for Each Other After Joe Jonas Breakup Song Re-Release

    Instagram

The ‘Game of Thrones’ star calls the song revamp ‘a bop’ while the ‘Fearless’ hitmaker reveals she is a huge fan of the actress’ famous television character.

    Apr 8, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Taylor Swift has revisited her split from Joe Jonas for the latest “From the Vault” gem ahead of her “Fearless” album re-release on Friday (09Apr21).

The pop star wrote “Mr. Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version)” after Jonas reportedly ended their romance over the phone, and fans insist the song is all about their break-up.

She released her new version of the track on Wednesday (07Apr21), tweeting, “Me in 2020: life is chill, writing songs based in fiction to avoid drama, feeling pretty grown up My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: ‘REELEEEEEEASE MR PERFECTLY FIIIIIIINE.’ ”

In the song she sings, “Hello Mr. Perfectly Fine /How’s your heart after breaking mine? /Mr. always at the right place at the right time, baby /Hello, Mr. casually cruel /Mr. everything revolves around you /I’ve been Miss Misery since your goodbye /And you’re Mr. Perfectly Fine.”

The re-release hasn’t upset Jonas’ wife Sophie Turner, who posted the Spotify listing of the song, writing, “It’s not NOT a bop @TaylorSwift,” prompting the singer to respond by referencing Sophie’s “Game of Thrones” character and stating, “forever bending the knee for the (queen) of the north.”

Over the weekend, Swift revealed the track listing for the “Fearless” bonus album, explaining it will include 27 tracks from the project’s recording sessions. She has already released two tracks – a reworked “Love Story” and a previously unheard collaboration with Maren Morris, called “You All Over Me” – and previewed a third, “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)”.

Swift is in the process of re-recording her old hits to thwart the new rights owners’ efforts to make money off the originals.

Elsewhere, Megan Thee Stallion will do battle with Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Taylor Swift for Female Artist of the Year, and the Best Duo/Group of the Year award will be a fight between BTS, Dan + Shay, the Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5, and twenty one pilots.

This year, there will also be a new fan-voted category, TikTok Bop of the Year, featuring nominees like The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights”, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP”, and Doja Cat’s “Say So”.

The winners will be unveiled at a live ceremony in Los Angeles on 27 May (21), a year after 2020’s TV celebration was cancelled due to the COVID crisis.

YG's 'Meet the Flockers' Makes a Return to Streaming Services With Censored Version

    Instagram

The song, featured on the rapper’s 2014 release ‘My Krazy Life’, has been riddled with scrutiny in the midst of the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes across the country.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Rapper YG’s debut album has been restored to streaming services with a censored version of the song “Meet the Flockers” following a backlash over the track’s controversial lyrics.

Critics have long claimed the song, which is featured on the 2014 release “My Krazy Life”, encourages wannabe burglars to target the homes of Chinese-Americans as YG recounts his criminal past and gives listeners a tutorial on how to score big in a break-in.

The tune opens with the lines, “First, you find a house and scope it out/ Find a Chinese neighborhood, cause they don’t believe in bank accounts.”

“Meet the Flockers” has faced further scrutiny in recent months amid the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes across the U.S., and last week (ends April 2), reports emerged suggesting YouTube employees had urged bosses to remove the video from the streaming platform, citing violations of the company’s hate speech policy.

      See also…

The request to YouTube’s Trust & Safety team, however, was denied in an email from executives to the staff on March 22. The email noted that the song’s lyrics violated the company’s hate speech policy, but said “Meet the Flockers” would stay up because of an Educational, Documentary, Scientific or Artistic exception, citing the its “artistic context” and noting concern about setting a precedent that would lead to the removal of more music videos.
But days after the news hit headlines, “My Krazy Life” disappeared from music services such as Spotify and Apple Music.

It wasn’t gone for long, though – it was re-uploaded hours later with the words “Chinese neighborhoods” censored, a move apparently taken by officials at YG’s record label, Def Jam, and its parent company, UMG (Universal Music Group), according to Genius.com.

Oprah Winfrey to Salute Tina Turner at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammys Party

    WENN/Instagram

The former daytime talk show host is reportedly tapped to pay homage to the music icon at the upcoming star-studded event ahead of the Biggest Night in Music.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Oprah Winfrey will reportedly pay tribute to Tina Turner at Clive Davis’ Grammys party.

The TV icon has been interviewed by the influential music producer for his upcoming celebration, and the duo took the opportunity to discuss the legacy of the 81-year-old singer.

“He interviewed her for 90 minutes… it will, of course, be edited,” a source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column. “It’s linked to one of his favourite Tina Turner performances, and there was quite a bit of discussion around Tina. Clive was very excited that he got Oprah. It’s a big deal. He was like, ‘Can you believe this?’ ”

Rather than his usual Beverly Hilton Pre-Grammys party, Clive instead held a virtual star-studded bash in January (21) with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Gayle King, Alicia Keys, and Joni Mitchell joining in the fun.

He had to postpone the second edition after being diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy in February.

At the time, his representative said, “He is in good spirits and looks forward to doing the second half of his pre-Grammy gala in May.”

He has since recovered and while a specific date is yet to be confirmed, the event is still expected next month.

“The names connected with ‘part two’ are going to be bigger, if not better (than the first),” the insider added.

Tina has been plagued with a number of health issues in recent years, including kidney failure, and it was her husband Erwin Bach who stepped up to donate a kidney to her in 2017.

Alan Jackson Too Devastated by Family Tragedies to Make Music in Past Few Years

    WENN

The ‘Remember When’ singer talks about his music hiatus, explaining that he couldn’t find motivation to make music following the deaths of his mother and son-in-law.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Country singer Alan Jackson lost the passion for making music after a string of family tragedies.

The “Remember When” star is preparing to launch “Where Have You Gone” – his first album in six years – in May (21), and the project features three particularly personal tracks, including “Where Her Heart’s Always Been”, a song he originally wrote for his mother’s 2017 funeral.

Jackson admits the long break between 2015’s “Angels and Alcohol” and his new material wasn’t planned, but he couldn’t bring himself to focus on his career after losing his mum and then his son-in-law, Ben Selecman, in a fall on a dock in September, 2018 – less than a year after marrying the musician’s eldest daughter, Mattie.

      See also…

In a statement about “Where Have You Gone” upcoming release, Jackson explains the heartache prompted him to shelve the album he had been working on at the time of the double deaths, because he simply “didn’t really feel like making music for a couple years.”

Jackson eventually picked up the pen again and started reminiscing about his youth in Georgia, which inspired much of “Where Have You Gone”, reports Taste of Country.

“When I write, I visualise back home and growing up,” he explained. “I say this: ‘Real country songs are life and love and heartache, drinking and Mama and having a good time…’ But it’s the sound of the instruments, too. The steel and acoustic guitar, the fiddle, those things have a sound and a tone – and getting that right, the way those things make you feel, that’s country, too.”

The album will also include the tunes “I Do” and “You’ll Always Be My Baby”, which he wrote for his daughters’ weddings.
