Matt Sorum Unveils How Lars Ulrich Played a Part in Him Landing Guns N' Roses Gig

    WENN/Brian To

When celebrating the Metallica co-founder’s birthday, the former drummer of the Axl Rose-fronted band opens up about how their longtime friendship led to the former giving Slash his phone number.

    Dec 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rocker Lars Ulrich is responsible for helping Matt Sorum land his gig as Guns N’ Roses’ drummer after passing his number on to Slash.
Sorum shared the interesting piece of music history with fans over the weekend (December 26) as he celebrated the Metallica star’s birthday with a gushing tribute about their longtime friendship.
“We met when (Sorum’s old band) The Cult opened the ‘Justice For All’ (Metallica) tour and spent many nights on the road together living the life of rock ‘n’ roll,” he wrote of the 1989 trek. “The Cult did close to six months on that tour and the adventures were insane, and are still with me to this day.”

“After that we remained close,” Sorum continued. “Lars was the one that gave Slash my phone number to get in GNR. Of course, the Epic GNR / Metallica stadium tour (of 1992) was legendary. Besides all of the musical accolades, most importantly he has always been there as a friend.”
Sorum joined The Cult in 1989, and replaced drummer Steven Adler in the Guns N’ Roses line-up in 1990, until his exit in 1997.
Recalling his first concert as Guns N’ Roses drummer which took place in January 1991 at the Rock In Rio festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Sorum recalled in October of this year, “I’ve never rehearsed with the guy. We’re gonna do it live in front of a hundred and forty thousand people, plus on television. And I’m freaking out before the show. I’m looking around, and I’m, like, ‘Hey, does anyone know what the setlist is? I’d like to check out the setlist.’ And Slash [Guns N’ Roses guitarist] goes, ‘We don’t use a setlist.’ And I’m, like, ‘What?’ So I got no information about what’s gonna go down.”

    Instagram

In a new episode of her online ‘Gag Order’ series, the ‘My Neck, My Back (Lick It)’ hitmaker, who was born Khia Shamone Chambers, is seen trying to mimicking Mariah’s signature high note.

    Dec 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Khia is making headlines for yet another controversial remark. This time, it is because she’s attacking Grammy Award-winning songstress Mariah Carey as she makes fun of her recent singing ability.
In a new episode of her online “Gag Order” series, Khia, who was born Khia Shamone Chambers, was seen trying to mimicking Mariah’s signature high note. The Philadephia-born artist went on to joke that Mariah is no longer able to reach those notes despite trying.
“I said Mariah girl…Ms. Mariah girl,” she said mockingly. “Then I’m like, tap that ear girl, tap that ear, the mic is right girl it’s them notes!” she added, before singing Mariah’s 90s hit “Make It Happen” and “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.

While Mariah has yet to respond to the shade, some fans jumped into her defense. Slamming Khia, one person wrote, “Girl shut up already, Mariah does that because of feedback in her ear. Learn about music and singing live.” Another fan added, “It was no truth what she said , if you did your research last couple Mariah has been slaying vocally . Most talking s**t never been to her concerts.”
“What she need to is focus on bashing them people of Love and Hip Hop and try to get another hit so she can get out that imitation a** RV van before she fix her mouth to come for the Queen of the Charts that she ain’t been on in decades…,” one person suggested. Meanwhile, another user claimed that this was the “reason why Janet Jackson never worked with Khia again… She simply has no respect for the legends.”
Prior to this, Khia was under fire for accusing Tamar Braxton of faking her suicide attempt or as she called it, faking her “death.” In the Monday, August 3 episode of “Gag Order”, the “My Neck, My Back (Lick It)” hitmaker claimed that the “Braxton Family Values” star faked her “death” to get released of her contract with We TV. Additionally, Khia blasted the Braxton family, “who never gives back to the community but always wants out support.”

The two rappers were attempting to throw an outdoor concert for their fans at Sk8 City Fun Zone in the Regency Square Mall on Sunday night, December 27, but it was shut down even before it began.
To make matter worse, Toossii claimed he got pepper sprayed by police when he was greeting his fans on the street. Taking to his Instagram page, the North Carolina rapper, who was born Nau’Jour Grainger, shared a video of the incident.

According to a report from Action News Jax, the concert was shut down after shooting erupted near the location of the show. Thousands of mostly teenage concertgoers had gathered at Sk8 City Fun Zone when multiple shots were fired.

Young Thug Dragged on Twitter After Claiming to Have More 'Stadium Anthems' Than Jay-Z

    WENN/https://www.beyonce.com//Apega

The ‘Stoner’ rapper is trending on the blue bird app for shading the ‘Run This Town’ spitter though he quickly retracts his comment and acknowledges that Hova probably has more than 50 stadium-worthy songs.

    Dec 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Young Thug has made himself a sort of public enemy after dissing one of the biggest hip-hop stars in the late 20th to early 21st century. The Atlanta native has caught a lot of flak from Twitter users after questioning Jay-Z’s music catalog.
Appearing in a Monday, December 28 episode of Gillie Da Kid’s “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Thugger was bragging about having 30 or 40 stadium-worthy anthems. He then compared his songs to Jigga’s, saying, “Jay-Z ain’t got 30 songs like that.”
Gillie disagreed, saying of Hova, “He got a lot, though.” Apparently realizing he said something wrong, Thug quickly backtracked on his remark as he acknowledged, “I’m just saying like, I know he do, he probably got 50 of them b***hes.”
“I’m not literally saying him,” the 29-year-old went on clarifying. “I’m saying n***as who you thinking … I seen n***as like, ‘Damn, they don’t know this song?’ I’m so scared to get boo’ed, I don’t even perform songs they won’t know.”

With a career that has spanned over two decades and 13 studio albums, Jay-Z has a bunch of Billboard hits and has sold over 29,179,000 studio albums as of December 2014. Meanwhile, Thug has released one solo studio album, three EPs and 19 mixtapes.

While Thug quickly backtracked on his comment, the damage has been done. Jay-Z’s fans won’t let it pass and has been dragging the “Go Crazy” spitter on Twitter, making his name trending on the blue bird app for the wrong reason.
“25 years of rapping and Jay-Z don’t have 30 songs that a stadium knows and Young Thug does? Bruh…..cmon,” freelance journalist Keith Nelson Jr. reacted to Thug’s remark. Another noted, “First he disrespected 3 Stacks & now he’s dissing Jay-Z saying he doesn’t have 30 songs like that. Young Thug took a bad audience not knowing Jay’s s**t & is using it to further divide youth & elders. We don’t need this negativity separating 2 artists with hella fans & influence.”
“Did Young Thug compare his ignorant a** to Jay Z??” a third user slammed Thugger. Another told Thug to focus on making music instead, “Young Thug needs to just stop talking on legends and focus on releasing PUNK.”
A fifth commenter added, “Young Thug needs to pipe down. I was born in 1998 and can rap more Jay Z songs Woman shrugging these new generation rappers think to highly of themselves Rolling on the floor laughing nigga Jay-Z entire albums have no skips tf.”
“what does he gain from slandering Jay like are you dumb??” a baffled user asked. Another commented, “Young thug got JAY Z CONFUSED! Lmao n******a WHET,” while someone else quipped, “I’m here tryna figure out if I know 30 young thug songs much less 30 Jay Z songs.”
There were a few, however, who agreed with Thug’s initial comment. “He is not lying tho and this is not him saying he is better than jay z it’s just the truth…..NO ONE KNOWS 30 JAY Z SONGS BY HEART,” one explained. Another argued, “Young Thug ain’t lie tho, Lls the only Jay Z song I know is the story of OJ.”

AceShowbiz – Nile Rodgers hasn’t ruled out a duet with Dua Lipa.
Despite the “Don’t Start Now” hitmaker turning down the music legend’s contributions on her latest album, “Future Nostalgia”, the “Le Freak” hitmaker says his door is always open for a collaboration with the pop megastar.
He told British newspaper The Sun, “That’s up to her. We got along great, we really liked each other.”
“She can call me any time – I’m down.”

Although the pair spent time in the studio together in 2019, Dua decided she wanted to make the arrangements for her LP more futuristic instead of retro disco.
She explained at the time, “I think I just needed a bit more of a future element in terms of production. The production we did together was amazing, but took it into beautiful disco and Chic. It needed to be more current.”
Dua recently broke online live-stream records with her Studio 2054 virtual concert, which pulled in over five million viewers, including over 1.9 million unique log-ins from China, 95,000 from India and over 263,200 tickets sold on regular ticketing platforms. The total is said to be a record for a paid live-stream, according to Variety.
The extravaganza featured guest appearances from Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue, FKA twigs, and more.
Dua Lipa also receives multiple nominations at the upcoming 2021 Grammy Awards. Her album is up for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album while her single “Don’t Start Now” is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
