The ‘Dance Monkey’ hitmaker is back on the street doing street performance in her home country of Australia to raise fund for small businesses impacted by pandemic.

    Dec 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chart-topper Tones and I has taken to the streets as she returned to busking in Melbourne, Australia on Monday (21Dec20).
The “Dance Monkey” hitmaker, 26, took to Instagram to announce she would be performing some of her biggest hits at 11.30 am local time.
“I’m busking on Bourke Street 11:30 this morning,” penned the songwriter, real name Toni Watson, alongside a clip of herself outdoors wearing a red cap and matching shirt.
The singer’s surprise performance was the result of a partnership between the Victorian Government, Mushroom Group and the City of Melbourne in a bid to support shops, restaurants, cafes and bars recovering from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The singer began busking in Byron Bay in September 2017, during which time she met talent manager Jackson Walkden-Brown. She eventually made it big with her second single, “Dance Monkey”, which was released in May 2019 and topped the charts in 30 countries.
“Dance Monkey” has also become the most-searched song of all time on Shazam, a music service that enables users to identify unfamiliar songs.

Many small proprietors described it as their last hope for being able to remain in business after a nearly yearlong revenue drought.“This is what our industry needs to make it through,” said Dayna Frank, the owner of First Avenue, a storied music club in Minneapolis. She is also the board president of the National Independent Venue Association, which was formed in April and has lobbied Congress aggressively for relief for its more than 3,000 members. As the news of the deal began to trickle out on Sunday night, a collective sigh of relief ricocheted through group text messages and social media posts. “Last night was the first time I have smiled in probably nine months,” Ms. Frank said.Dayna Frank, the owner of First Avenue in Minneapolis, said, “This is what our industry needs to make it through.”Credit…Jenn Ackerman for The New York TimesBroadway theaters, which have been closed since March, applauded the relief package.“We are grateful for this bipartisan agreement which will provide immediate relief across our industry and a lifeline to the future,” Charlotte St. Martin, the president of the Broadway League, the trade organization for producers and theater owners, said in a statement.Nataki Garrett, the artistic director for Oregon Shakespeare Festival, said that the aid would be crucial for nonprofit theaters. “Our situation was critical and dire,” she said. But the leaders of some large nonprofit cultural organizations worried that the way the bill is structured — giving priority to organizations that lost very high percentages of their revenue before considering the rest — could put them at the back of the line for grants, since they typically get a significant portion of revenues through donations. With the bill set to be approved in both chambers of Congress as early as Monday evening, arts groups around the nation were cautiously celebrating while studying the fine print to see what kind of aid they might qualify for. Most doubt the entertainment industry can fully swing back into action until well into next year, at the earliest. The bill allows independent entertainment businesses, like music venues and movie theaters, along with other cultural entities, to apply for grants from the Small Business Administration to support six months of payments to employees and for costs including rent, utilities and maintenance. Applicants must have lost at least 25 percent of their revenue to qualify, and those have lost more than 90 percent will be able to apply first, within the first two weeks after the bill becomes law.The Coronavirus Outbreak More

Cardi B Reacts to Viral 'WAP' Parody Video About Urging People to Wear Mask

Titled ‘WAmP’, the hilarious take on the racy song features students from John Hopkins University wearing masks while reciting altered lyrics that go with the message they want to share.

    Dec 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cardi B is open to any parody of her hit sing “WAP”. The Grammy-winning femcee caught wind of a viral parody from John Hopkins University, which made use of the popular song to urge people to wear face masks amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Titled “WAmP”, the hilarious take on Cardi’s collaborative song with Megan Thee Stallion featured students from the school wearing masks while reciting altered lyrics that go with the message they wanted to share. “I don’t cook, I don’t clean, but let me tell you that I’ll get a vaccine #WAmP #WearAMaskPlease,” read the lyrics.
The wife of Offset apparently found the clip funny as she replied, “Sksksksk.” Upon seeing the welcoming response, fans couldn’t help but asking the hip-hop star to collaborate with the university. “Cardi, please collaborate with @JohnsHopkinsSPH to release a special public service version of WAP!” one of her followers begged. Meanwhile, someone said, “This is epic.”

Applauding Cardi for her big influence, someone wrote, “our influence is craaaaaaaazy !!!!!” Also loving the parody, another user said, “YASSS! LOVE IT!”
Despite the success, Cardi faced criticism for the explicit lyrics for “WAP”. Defending the song, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker said during an interview on Australia’s “The Kyle & Jackie O” show, “The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or really religious people. But my thing is…I grew up listening to this type of music. To other people it might be vulgar, but to me, it’s almost really normal.”
Cardi was also aware that the song is not for children, noting that she didn’t want her 2-year-old daughter Kulture, whom she shares with rapper Offset, to listen to it. “Of course I don’t want my child to listen to the song. But, it’s like, it’s for adults!” She also added, “It’s what people want to hear. If people didn’t want to hear it, if they were so afraid to hear it, it wouldn’t be doing so good.”
Offset recently also stood up for his wife after Snoop Dogg shared his negative review for the song. “I love Snoop, man. [Cardi is] grown,” so the “Ghostface Killers” rapper said. “I don’t get in females business, so Ima just stay at that. I hate when men do that. I don’t do that. I don’t care if a girl woulda said something bad about me. I just don’t get in females business.”

AceShowbiz – Pharrell Williams has made a revelation regarding Justin Timberlake’s “Justified”. When making an appearance on “Drink Champs” podcast, the “Get Lucky” singer revealed that the former NSYNC member’s hit solo debut was meant for late King of Pop Michael Jackson.
When speaking to N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN in the Saturday, December 19 episode of their podcast, the 47-year-old first mentioned that he sent some songs to Michael. “John McClain was his manager at the time. We sent him pretty much all the stuff you guys are hearing on the first ‘Justified’ album — that’s all Michael stuff,” he spilled. “All but one song, they were written for Michael.”
Pharrell went on to claim that the late pop star was not into the tracks he offered. “John McClain was like, ‘Man, Michael don’t want that s**t! He want the s**t you givin’ Noreaga!’ He was like, ‘Yo, he want that ‘Superthug’,’ ” The Neptunes producer recalled.
Aside from Michael, Pharrell additionally revealed that Prince also turned down tunes that he wrote. The “Happy” hitmaker shared, “I tried for years to make records for him.” He then added, “My first attempt at making a record with him was ‘Frontin’… I think I wrote a different version a little bit for him. Artist of the Week: Ava Max

The ‘Sweet but Psycho’ hitmaker is spreading empowerment message with her inspiring single ‘Kings and Queens’ while taking the throne on Billboard chart and radio airplay.

    Dec 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ava Max is blasting to No. 1 on Billboard music chart with her inspiring single “Kings & Queens”. The pop dance song is not only easy on the ear, but it also carries a wonderful message. She connects with both genders as she toasts men who respect, support, and stand up for their women and celebrates all the brave queens who are “fighting alone.”
“Female empowerment is very strong in my life and that’s how I am. I’m a very outspoken person and it shows in my music, especially my lyrics and in the album,” she explained in an interview with Billboard.
The 26-year-old singer/songwriter hit the summit on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs radio airplay with the empowering single. It marked her first No. 1 song in the music ranking after she reached the second place on the chart last year with her breakout hit “Sweet but Psycho.”
“Kings & Queens”, which spawned a revamp with Lauv and Saweetie, also took the throne on the Mediabase hot adult contemporary radio chart for second consecutive week while staying at the runner-up position on this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

The song additionally reached No. 13 on Billboard Hot 100 with over 628 million in all-format radio audience and 152 million on-demand U.S. streams. On Adult Contemporary, it climbed to No. 21, joining Ava Max’s new holiday single, “Christmas Without You,” which ranked five spots higher at No. 16 on the chart.
While the festive anthem is a standalone song, both “Kings & Queens” and “Sweet but Psycho” are featured in Ava Max’s debut studio album “Heaven & Hell”.
“It resembles everything I’ve gone through,” she explained the title, “and I think everybody goes through heaven and hell in their own ways, like good days, bad days, the yin and the yang you know? Both worlds, it’s never great all the time, so I think that’s why.”
The album was divided into three sections; Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell. She elaborated, “Heaven is more of energetic, upbeat, and anthemic songs so if you’re feeling very happy, and Hell is more of a moody, sonically darker theme but there are no sad songs on that one, they’re all very bold and strong. I didn’t want any sad songs so they’re pretty much in-your-face anthems.”
