Bebe Rexha and Keke Palmer Deliver Stunning Performance at 2020 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

    Instagram

In this socially-distanced edition of the 94th annual holiday spectacular, Lauren Alaina and Ally Brooke also take their performance to the streets of New York City, while Dolly Parton sings from Nashville.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – The 94th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has brought the festive spirit back amid the coronavirus pandemic. Taking over the streets of New York City on Thursday morning, November 26 with strict safety precautions, it presented a number of special performances which included that of Bebe Rexha and Keke Palmer.
Bebe turned heads when she showed off a sexy appearance at the socially-distanced edition of the annual holiday spectacular. Donning a red bodysuit over black turtleneck and leggings with a black fur cape, the 31-year-old singer delivered her new hit tune, “Baby, I’m Jealous”, aboard the Jennie-O float which features a massive gold turkey.
Unfortunately, Bebe’s performance was slightly hampered by a rogue piece of confetti which got stuck on the camera lens near the end. While the gaffe got the Internet buzzing with many social media users joking that it had enough of her, the “Meant to Be” hitmaker let it slide and lightheartedly joked in an Instagram post, “I definitely have the biggest turkey this year.”

Keke, in the meantime, stunned viewers with an energetic performance of “Dreamcatcher”. Riding the float for clothing brand Coach which was pulled by an animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, the 27-year-old singer/actress looked fabulous in a beige leather coat. She completed her dapper look with a pair of earmuffs.

Other singers braving the cold to entertain viewers at home included Lauren Alaina, Ally Brooke and Tori Kelly. Lauren belted out her hit single “RUN” atop the South Dakota float, Ally sang “We Are a Family” while riding the Blue’s Clues & You! Float, and Tori delivered an original Christmas track, “25th,” on Lifetime’s Christmas in Town Square float.

Legendary singers Patti LaBelle and Dolly Parton also joined in the festivity. Patti delivered a soulful rendition of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” in front of Macy’s iconic flagship store, whereas Dolly brought the festive mood straight from Nashville as she belted out “Holly Jolly Christmas” from her newly-released third holiday album “A Holly Dolly Christmas”.

Although Broadway has been closed since March due to COVID-19, the casts of “Mean Girls”, “Jagged Little Pill” and “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg: The Life and Times of the Temptations” among others pre-taped their performances. Meanwhile, the giant balloons included Queen Poppy of “Trolls” and Boss Baby. It was concluded with the appearance of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

Dolly Parton Spills on Kenny Rogers' Part in the Long-Gap Between Her Christmas Albums

    WENN/PNP

‘A Holly Dolly Christmas’, the country superstar’s first seasonal release in 30 years, features her collaboration with Miley Cyrus, Michael Buble, Jimmy Fallon and her brother Randy Parton.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dolly Parton waited to gift fans with a new holiday album because her first festive offering with her late friend Kenny Rogers remains a popular pick 36 years on.
The country superstar teamed up with Rogers for 1984’s “Once Upon a Christmas”, and it took her another six years before her second holiday offering, “Home for Christmas”, hit retailers.
She is currently riding high on the success of her third seasonal release, “A Holly Dolly Christmas”, which dropped last month, but Dolly insists she wouldn’t have left such a long gap between releases if her Rogers project hadn’t been so “hot.”
“The reason I hadn’t done anything in 30 years is (because) Kenny Rogers, the album we did, still plays every Christmas, it’s still very hot,” Dolly explained on U.S. breakfast show “Today”.

“A Holly Dolly Christmas” features a string of collaborations with the likes of her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Michael Buble, Jimmy Fallon and her brother Randy Parton, but Dolly didn’t set out to create a star-studded duets disc.
“I just wanted to do one on my own, but it turns out that I just brought all these other people to get involved in it as well,” she smiled.
And the coronavirus shutdown proved to be a creatively fruitful period for Parton and her pals.
She shared, “It was a good time because everybody was kinda shut down, and I thought, ‘Well, this is the perfect time to write some new music, to get in (the studio) and safely do it and send out all the stuff (music) to other people (when) we couldn’t get in the studio together, like we normally do, but this day and time, the new technology, that’s kinda how people are making records anyway.’ ”
“So we pulled it off, with all these great artists… I’m just really proud to have… all kinds of friends and family on there. It turned out really well.”

Tim McGraw Admits Taylor Swift's Tribute Song Made Him Worry About Career Ending

    WENN/Judy Eddy

During a recent radio interview, the ‘Humble and Kind’ hitmaker opens up about his initial reaction upon hearing ‘Tim McGraw’ that the ‘Cardigan’ singer released back in 2006.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tim McGraw feared Taylor Swift’s teenage tribute was his hint to walk away from fame.
The “Humble & Kind” singer heard “Tim McGraw” before Swift released it in 2006, and admits that although he was flattered a teenager was name-checking him, he thought it might be a tune signaling the end of his run as a star.
“It came out and it blew up and she blew up,” the country crooner husband of Faith Hill told radio host Bobby Bones. “My first thought was, ‘OK, let me re-evaluate here. What does this mean? All right, if there’s a song that she’s singing about me… does this mean I’m done? Out the door!’ ”

Then the father of three daughters learned how young Taylor was. “Somebody told me she was, like, 13 and wrote it in math class and I thought, ‘Well that’s all right. I can live with that.’ ” he recalled. “It’s not like a 35-year-old artist saying, ‘You know, hey, I used to listen to Tim McGraw, and I’m done.’ ”
Back in 2006, Taylor explained to CMT how she came up with the song off her self-titled debut album. “I wrote [the song] in my freshman year of high school,” she recounted. “I got the idea in math class. I was just sitting there, and I started humming this melody. I kind of related it to this situation I was in.”
“I was dating a guy who was about to go off to college. I knew we were going to break up. So I started thinking about all the things that I knew would remind him of me,” the multiple Grammy winner continued offering more details. “Surprisingly, the first thing that came to mind was that my favorite country artist is Tim McGraw.”

Run the Jewels weren’t the only ones left disappointed by the Grammy nominations – Canadian star The Weeknd has demanded answers after he failed to be nominated for a single prize, despite landing critical and commercial success with album “After Hours” and one of the biggest-selling songs of 2020, “Blinding Lights”.
After The Weeknd accused the Grammys’ organisers of being “corrupt,” officials responded by insisting they are “surprised” he wasn’t recognised. They also noted there are “fewer” nominations to award than there are “deserving artists.”
Stars including Elton John and Drake have spoken out in support of the “In Your Eyes” hitmaker.
Elton wrote on Instagram, “In my humble opinion……Blinding Lights Song of the Year Record of the Year.”
Meanwhile, Drake penned a longer note, “I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after.”
“It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways,” he continued. “This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up over time and pass on to the generations to come.”

Tom Petty's Bandmate Not 'Ready Emotionally' for The Heartbreakers Reunion

    Instagram/Adrian Boot

Mike Campbell is not planning to regroup the Heartbreakers in the near future as he is still mourning the death of the band leader, three years after his passing.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Petty’s longtime sidekick Mike Campbell isn’t quite ready to regroup the Heartbreakers three years after the band leader’s death.
The guitarist admits he’s sure he will consider a reunion “at some point in the future,” but he’s still heartbroken about his longtime pal and collaborator’s passing in 2017.
Campbell tells Rolling Stone he’s well aware Petty wanted to hit the road and perform his Wildflowers album in its entirety, and so that’s something that might happen.

      See also…

“I’m not ready emotionally to have the Heartbreakers in a room and go ‘1, 2, 3, 4…’ and look around and Tom’s not there,” Mike explains. “I need to grieve a little more to get to that point in time, but I’m not against the idea. I do miss the guys, but Tom left a huge hole in the band.”
“It would have to be almost a voice from beyond, almost like, ‘Guys, do this for me’. If I got that message, I would present it to the other guys. But it hasn’t been that long. We’re still grieving very deeply. It’s a big loss.”
Campbell and fellow longtime Heartbreakers bandmate Benmont Tench recently worked with Petty’s daughters and Rick Rubin, among others, and put together the “Wildflowers & All the Rest” box set, which was released last month (Oct20). It featured home recordings and previously unreleased tracks, while Campbell and Tench lovingly recalled working with Petty on the album for the liner notes.
