Justin Bieber on His Grammy Nominations: I Should Be in RnB Categories

    Instagram

While the Canadian musician is ‘flattered to be acknowledged and appreaciated’ for his artistry, he wants to clarify that ‘Changes’, which earns him a Best Pop Vocal Album nod, is an RnB album.

    Nov 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Justin Bieber is among the nominees at the 2021 Grammy Awards. The Canadian star, who scored four Grammy nods on Tuesday, November 24, revealed in a new Instagram post that he’s grateful for the honor, though he believed that he’s being put in the wrong category.
The “Love Yourself” hitmaker received nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Yummy,” Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Intentions”, Best Pop Vocal Album for “Changes” and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his “10,000 Hours” collaboration with Dan + Shay. While he’s “flattered to be acknowledged and appreaciated for my artistry,” Justin wanted to clarify that “Changes” is an R&B album.
“I am very meticulous and intentional about my music. With that being said I set out to make an R&B album. Changes was and is an R&B album. It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me,” Justin explained.
He went on to say, “I grew up admiring R&B music and wished to make a project that would embody that sound. For this not to be put into that category feels weird considering from the chords to the melodies to the vocal style all the way down to the hip hop drums that were chosen it is undeniably, unmistakably an R&B Album!”

“To be clear I absolutely love Pop music it just wasn’t what I set out to make this time around,” the husband of Hailey Baldwin added. “My gratitude for feeling respected for my work remains and I am honored to be nominated either way.”
In the caption, meanwhile, Justin insisted that he wasn’t being “ungrateful,” adding, “these are just my thoughts take em or leave em. Thank you to the people who fought for me to even have any noms.”

“Changes” was released back in Februay, serving as Justin’s fifth studio album and his first full-length release since 2015’s “Purpose”. “I feel like this is different than the previous albums just because of where I’m at in my life,” Justin said of the new album at the time. “We all have different stories; I’m just excited to share mine… It’s the music that I’ve loved the most of anything I’ve done.”

Grammys Explain The Weeknd Snub After Singer Calls Them Out as 'Corrupt'

    Instagram

Words are the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer lost his chance to get nominated for the 2021 Grammy Awards after given ultimatum to choose whether to perform at the event or Super Bowl LV.

    Nov 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Recording Academy has spoken up amid the backlash over The Weeknd snub at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Despite still being one of the most celebrated artists in the industry today, the Canadian star who released his latest album “After Hours” in March didn’t get any nomination for the 63rd annual ceremony.
Speaking to Billboard on the eve of nomination announcement, the Recording Academy’s interim President/CEO Harvey Mason Jr. briefly touched on The Weeknd snub, insinuating that the “Save Your Tears” crooner didn’t receive any nomination simply because he lost the spot to other artists. “For The Weeknd, in every year you only have a certain amount of people you can nominate for each category,” Mason said.
Mason also explained Harry Styles’ absence on the “Big Four” categories, despite him still receiving nominations in other categories such as Best Music Video and Best Pop Vocal Album. As for Harry, he has some great nominations this year [even though he wasn’t nominated in the top categories],” he said. “We are excited about some of the other categories where he was nominated. It’s never easy to tell where people are going to land.”
Mason added that The Academy had a “very diverse group of new voters” and didn’t have much to say when it was noted that these “new voters” seemed to value rising, lesser-known artists than those who have established careers and bodies of work. “[Hesitantly] Yeah, it’s interesting,” Mason admitted.

Elsewhere in the interview, Mason doubled down on his explanation, “From year to year, it is really hard to predict who is going to be nominated and who’s not. I personally wish we could give everybody a nomination, but there are only a certain amount of slots. There were some amazing records that did not get nominated.”
Meanwhile, The Weeknd has lashed out at The Academy, which he deemed “corrupt” for denying him any nomination. “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…,” he demanded on Tuesday, November 24 after the nominations were announced.

TMZ additionally reported that the singer, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, likely got snubbed for the Grammy nominations after testy talks with Grammy brass about him performing at the Grammys and Super Bowl LV. The organization allegedly issued an ultimatum for the singer to choose either one of the events.
Both parties eventually agreed that The Weeknd could do both, but the bitter back-and-forth reportedly pissed off Grammy honchos, which might have cost him the Grammy nominations.

Jeezy 'Clearing Some Closets in His Mind' With New Song 'Therapy for My Soul'

The ‘Soul Survivor’ rapper insists his latest single is not a diss track taking aim at 50 Cent and Freddie Gibbs but a way of addressing things he’d never spoken on.

    Nov 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jeezy has insisted “Therapy for My Soul” isn’t a 50 Cent and Freddie Gibbs diss track, but a way of “addressing things I’d never spoken on.”
The 43-year-old star took on rival Gucci Mane in the latest “Verzuz” battle, with their feud coming to a head in the often-tense spar. However, in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Jeezy said he wouldn’t consider doing the same for 50 Cent and Freddie – who he was accused of calling out on his new track.
“I wouldn’t say it was (a diss track), I just wrote a song about having therapy and clearing some closets in my mind on some things that were addressed that I’d never spoken on,” he said. “Those were just my opinions, my thoughts and my words. I’m grown enough to do it. It was therapeutic for me. If you go to a therapist, you go in for your session and you go back to the real world. That’s what I did, I wrote my thoughts on a pen and pad and let the world be my therapist. Now I’m just going on living my life. I’m grown.”

Jeezy added that he wasn’t expecting anything other than some big hits from Mane in the “Verzuz” battle. But when it came to his response, the “Put On” star never intended to rise to the bait.
“I didn’t expect him to come in otherwise. He did what he does,” he said. “My approach was more about my legacy and the classics that I have. Those same classics were played at Magic City at the beginning of my career, that’s the space I was in. I was playing for the people who love what I do. I didn’t have to go and play like Gucci was back and forth.”
“I’m confident of who I am as a man, and I know what I’ve achieved and what I have to lose. I wasn’t going to let my ego lead. In that moment, unselfishly, as much as I would have loved to make it about me and him, it was bigger than us. It was more so about the culture and the younger generation behind us, out here killing themselves and killing each other as we speak. That was for King Von and Mo3, Pop Smoke, Nipsey Hussle. Me being who I am, I’m never going to change my integrity to prove a point.”

Nicki Minaj Still Holding a Grudge Against Grammys for Snubbing Her in 2012

    Instagram

The ‘Anaconda’ femcee still hasn’t forgiven the Recording Academy for giving 2012 Best New Artist title to Bon Iver instead of her despite her impressive accomplishments that year.

    Nov 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – New mum Nicki Minaj noted Grammy nominations day on Tuesday (24Nov20) by putting the Recording Academy on blast for her 2012 snub.
The “Anaconda” hitmaker still hasn’t forgiven the powers that be for failing to give her the Best New Artist honour following her breakout year.
“Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade – went on to inspire a generation,” she snarled on social media. “They gave it to the white man Bon Iver.”

Meanwhile, Twitter and Instagram lit up after the 2021 nominations were announced following a shocking The Weeknd snub – the Canadian hitmaker, who has dominated many of the awards shows this year, didn’t pick up a single mention.
Beyonce dominates the 2021 nominations list with nine.
Teyana Taylor criticised Recording Academy officials this year for failing to shortlist any female artists in the Best R&B Album category for the 2021 Grammy Awards. “Y’all was better off just saying best MALE R&B ALBUM cause all I see is d**k in this category (sic),” she scoffed.
Meanwhile, fellow singer Kehlani was unfazed by the snub. “HA! i don’t think anyone should ever be mad about these things. we are all hella blessed to do what we do and have so many fans affirming us daily, at shows, when we drop projects! stress makes you sick why you want me to be mad pookiepie (sic)!!”

Grammy 2021 Snubs: Teyana Taylor Is Angry While Kehlani and Paramore Are Unfazed

    WENN

The ‘Wake Up Love’ singer slams Recording Academy over male-only Best R’n’B Album nominees while Kehlani and Paramore’s Hayley Williams are unbothered for not getting any nods.

    Nov 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer Teyana Taylor has criticised Recording Academy officials for failing to shortlist any female artists in the Best R&B Album category for the 2021 Grammy Awards.
The nominations were unveiled on Tuesday (24Nov20), when John Legend’s “Bigger Love”, “All Rise” by Gregory Porter, “To Feel Love/d” from Luke James, Giveon’s “Take Time, and Ant Clemons’ “Happy 2 Be Here” all earned nods for Best R&B Album – and Teyana wasn’t impressed.
The star, who dropped her critically-acclaimed “The Album” in June, was among those snubbed for her work, and she made her annoyance known on Twitter.
Reposting the Recording Academy’s nominations news, she remarked, “Y’all was better off just saying best MALE R&B ALBUM cause all I see is d**k in this category (sic).”
She went on to retweet several of her fans’ comments about Teyana and fellow R&B singer Kehlani failing to land nods – although her “Morning” collaborator wasn’t fazed by the lack of recognition.

Responding to one fan who insisted she should be furious, Kehlani wrote, “HA! i don’t think anyone should ever be mad about these things. we are all hella blessed to do what we do and have so many fans affirming us daily, at shows, when we drop projects! stress makes you sick why you want me to be mad pookiepie (sic)!!”
Paramore’s Hayley Williams adopted a similar attitude towards her band’s snubs, insisting she was thrilled for other female artists leading the way in many rock and alternative categories.
“Stop sending me sorry’s for not getting a nom LOL (laugh out loud) pmore been nominated lots and even won (sic),” she tweeted to her disappointed fans. “thank you for your sweetness but stop! the women leading the rock and alt nom’s are THE story and the moment.”
“congratulations Phoebe f**king Bridgers !!!!!!” she added of the singer/songwriter, who garnered four mentions, including for Best New Artist.
Meanwhile, fans of The Weeknd were outraged as his “After Hours” album was completely shut out, as were recent releases by Luke Combs, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, The Chicks, and Bob Dylan.
