Mel C Keen to Get Back on Stage With Spice Girls After Sharing Thoughts on 'Spiceworld' Tracks

    Instagram

The Sporty Spice takes a trip down memory lane during the premiere episode of the Track By Track podcast, revealing that ‘Too Much’ remains one of her ‘absolute favourite Spice Girls songs.’
    May 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pop star Mel C (Melanie C) is keeping her “fingers crossed” for future “Spice Girls reunion shows after taking a trip down memory lane to revisit the band’s 1997 album “Spiceworld”.
The singer re-listened to the tunes from the girl group’s second studio release for the Track By Track podcast, on which artists are invited to share their memories about old projects on air.
The episode premiered on Monday (May 25), when Mel C decided to share her thoughts on each tune with fans on Twitter, too.
During the chat, the Brit revealed “Too Much” remains one of her “absolute favourite Spice Girls songs”, while “Do It” is “probably the Spice Girls song with (the) most difficult lyrics to remember.”
Mel C also expressed her love for “Denying”, and confessed she was always convinced bandmate Geri Halliwell – now Horner – would trip up whenever they performed the track live onstage: “The funny thing with ‘Denying’ is all it makes me think about is when Geri used to roller-skate on to the stage in the original tour in 1998,” she recalled, “and me, just waiting for her to fall off stage one night, but she never did miraculously!”
Meanwhile, she advised followers to check out the blooper reel for the “Never Give Up on the Good Times” dance from their “Spice World” movie.
“It still is probably the biggest mess-up I’ve made on choreography which caused the girls huge laughs and is one great bloopers (reel) you can see online, which is definitely worth a watch,” she tweeted.
Mel went on to admit hearing “Viva Forever” is always “bittersweet” as it reminds her of the time Geri quit the group.
“#VivaForever… what a beautiful song! So many magical memories being on stage looking out across those audiences, performing this song,” she began, before adding, “This was the song we released when Geri left the band back in 1998, so always makes me think of that…”
Referencing last year’s (19) comeback gigs across the U.K. and Ireland, she continued, “It will always be a special song and it was lovely to get back on stage and be able to perform it with Geri.”

And Mel hasn’t given up hope of hitting the road with the Spice Girls once more, post-coronavirus.
Wrapping up the Twitter session, she concluded, “I’ve absolutely loved listening to the ‘Spiceworld’ album, it’s made me feel very nostalgic and I’d love to get back on stage with the girls and perform for you all again. So fingers crossed we can do that at some point in the near future!”

    May 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zac Brown Band musician John Driskell Hopkins has helped to record a cover of folk legend John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery” to raise coronavirus relief funds.
Recording Academy officials have gathered members including Hopkins, Sugarland touring keyboardist Brandon Bush, singer/songwriter Christine Albert, and top engineer/producer Jeff Powell to rework Prine’s 1971 tune to benefit the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Prine, who received the 2020 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, died from coronavirus complications in April (20), aged 73, and the new release is designed to also celebrate his memory and his generous spirit, while helping to provide financial support to musicians in need during these trying times.

Artist of the Week: Tekashi 6ix9ine

The controversial rapper breaks multiple records with his comeback single ‘Gooba’ and almost sends his rival Ariana Grande to therapy and early retirement due to his overwhelming numbers.
    May 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Almost everything about Tekashi 6ix9ine seems to fascinate people these days. From his rainbow hair, family drama, celebrity feud, criminal record, to musical craft, they often become a topic of discussions on the internet. When he was released from prison early, people were flocking to him.
The controversial rapper caused a storm online with his first post-jail Instagram Live video. He defended himself for testifying against his former gang and racked up two million views, breaking the record previously held by Tory Lanez and Drake’s Quarantine Radio which had 310,000 viewers.
The 24-year-old lyricist, real name Daniel Hernandez, soon followed it up with a comeback song called “Gooba”. With catchy beat and lyrics as well as a vibrant music video full of twerking girls and a cute puppy, it’s no brainer that the clip quickly accumulated millions of views on YouTube.
He garnered over 43 million views in 24 hours, breaking the previous record held by Eminem to become the biggest debut for a hip-hop video in YouTube history. Back in 2018, the Slim Shady amassed 38.1 million views in the first day of release for his Machine Gun Kelly diss song.
On top of that, “Gooba” became the fastest video to reach 100 million views online, surpassing Taylor Swift’s “ME!” and Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next”.
The song also dominated the charts. It launched at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart with 55.3 million streams in the U.S. alone and started at No. 3 on Digital Song Sales with 24,000 sold. Meanwhile, it debuted at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100 and entered the U.K. singles chart at No. 6.
Although he didn’t get No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart, he gave his rival Ariana quite a scare. In an Instagram Story and now-deleted tweet before the rankings were revealed, the “Dangerous Woman” singer called the release week “terrifying” and said she needed therapy due to the anxiety. She even pleaded with fans to buy her song and hinted at early retirement if the top spot was not hers.

Ariana Grande reveals anxiety during race to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100
It was indeed a neck-and-neck race to No. 1. The competition included Doja Cat’s “Say So” remix featuring Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix featuring Beyonce Knowles, The Weeknd’s former champion “Blinding Lights”, and Drake’s “Toosie Slide”.
Although Tekashi69 was disappointed when he didn’t score No. 1 on Hot 100, he quickly moved on. He’s now gearing up for his next music offering and vows to break the internet again. Details of his upcoming single are still scarce but rumors suggest it’s a collaboration with Nicki Minaj.
