  • 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj Unleash Playful, Colorful Music Video for 'TROLLZ'

    [embedded content]

A portion of the proceeds from the second collaboration of the ‘GOOBA’ rapper and the ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker will go to the Bail Project which supports those working on the front lines of social justice.
    Jun 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – 6ix9ine is bringing playfulness and a heavy dose of colors to his second collaboration with Nicki Minaj. A little over one month after releasing his first music video post his release from prison, the “GOOBA” rapper unleashed a brand new visual for “TROLLZ”, his second joint effort with the “Anaconda” hitmaker.
Three and a half minutes long, the video sees the 24-year-old MC showing off his house arrest ankle monitor at some point. His collaborator, in the meantime, goes seductive, and displays a lot of skin. One of her colorful costumes presents her in nothing but multicolored pasties covering only her nipples.
“TROLLZ” itself hears the rapper duo individually challenging their haters. “I know you don’t like me, you wanna fight me/ You don’t want no problems at your party? Don’t invite me/ I don’t worry ’bout you n****s, please stop talking ’bout me/ Always talkin’ bout me ’cause you looking for the clouty,” he spits.
The “Barbie Dreams” raptress, in the meantime, rhymes in her part, “They get nervous when it’s Nicki on the roster/ Somebody ushered this n***a into a clinic/ My flow’s still sick, I ain’t talkin’ a pandemic/ I write my own lyrics, a lot of these b***hes gimmicks/ They study Nicki style, now all of them want to mimic.”
This song, which reunited the two rappers after their 2018 track “FEFE”, was originally planned to be released on June 5. 6ix9ine, however, decided to push it back out of respect for the Black Lives Matter protests that broke out across the country following the tragic death of George Floyd.
On Wednesday, June 10, Minaj announced that they will be using the song to support the fight against racial injustice. “A portion of the proceeds from #Trollz including merch items, will be going directly to The Bail Project Inc. [@bailproject]. The fund provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
The 37-year-old continued, “We want to protect and support the thousands of brave people working on the front lines of social justice, using their voices to demand AN END to the targeting and killing of Black Americans by the police. #BlackLivesMatter.”

  • 'Embarrassed' Lady Antebellum Changes Name Due to Slavery Connections

    WENN

Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood say they are ‘regretful and embarrassed’ at ignoring previous criticisms about their use of their moniker and vow to do better.
    Jun 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Country stars Lady Antebellum are shortening their moniker after recognising the negative connotations associated with the latter half of the group name.
Bandmates Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood took to social media on Thursday, June 11, 2020 to announce they will now be known as Lady A, the shortened version long used by fans.
In the detailed message, the musicians explain the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests and renewed discussions about racial injustice and inequality have prompted them to reflect on the links the word “antebellum” has to aspects of the pre-Civil War South, including slavery.
“We’ve watched and listened more than ever these last few weeks, and our hearts have been stirred with conviction, our eyes opened wide to the injustices, inequality and biases black women and men have always faced and continue to face every day,” they wrote. “Now, blind spots we didn’t even known existed have been revealed.”
“After much personal reflection, band discussion, prayer and many honest conversations with some of our closest black friends and colleagues, we have decided to drop the word ‘antebellum’ from our name and move forward as Lady A, the nickname our fans gave us almost from the start.”
The “Need You Now” hitmakers admit they are “regretful and embarrassed” at having ignored previous criticisms about their use of the word, which they adopted after taking their first promotional photos in front of an antebellum-style home, used to represent the influence Southern music had had on the trio.
“We can make no excuse for our lateness to this realization,” the stars confessed. “What we can do is acknowledge it, turn from it, and take action.”
Lady A insist they “want to do better” and to underscore their commitment to the cause, they will be donating to the non-profit Equal Justice Initiative, via their own LadyAID charity.
They concluded, “Our prayer is that if we lead by example…with humility, love, empathy and action…we can be better allies to those suffering from spoken and unspoken injustices, while influencing our children & generations to come.”

  • Nicki Minaj Defended by Fans After Backlash Over Upcoming 6ix9ine Collaboration

    Instagram

The ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker has previously stated that she has ‘a mind of their own’ after she was criticized for working with the snitching rapper on his 2018 track ‘FEFE’.
    Jun 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nicki Minaj was unapologetical when she worked with 6ix9ine back in 2018 and she has proven it by re-teaming up with the New York City artist once again on his upcoming music. As with their previous collaboration “FEFE”, their new project “TROLLZ” has been met with backlash after they announced its release date.
Critics took to social media to ask the Harajuku Barbie to remove her photos promoting the song and cancel the collaboration altogether. “Post a pic without him queen,” one of her followers wrote in a comment of her tweet announcing the song.
Labeling 6ix9ine a pedophile, a second user wrote, “Queen please stop working with this pdf file.” Another added, “nicki sweetie…. its not too late to accidentally trip and delete the collab. we can pretend it never happened.”
“i never heard Fefe in full and im not boutta listen to this either,” one person declared, referring to Nicki and 6ix9ine’s previous collaboration, while someone else compared her to her nemesis Cardi B, “Cardi would’ve never worked wit a Snitch Smh.”
But some others showed their loyalty to Nicki and came to her defense amid the backlash. “I LOVE THE FACT THAT YALL HAVE ANOTHER SONG TOGETHER,” one excited fan wrote. Another exclaimed, “We ready sis Fire you look tf good!”
Hitting back at the critics, someone else wrote, “The same ppl running they mouths are the same ones that will sing every word to Fefe when it comes on.”
Nicki has previously declared that she’s not worried about what others think about her, because she has a mind of her own. “You don’t have to defend me. I’m not afraid of internet trolls, blogs, artists. I don’t jump on band wagons. Many will never know what it feels like to have a mind of their own,” she tweeted back in December 2018, after 6ix9ine was arrested on racketeering, conspiracy to murder, armed robbery and firearms charges.
The 24-year-old rapper co-operated with the investigators and as part of his plea deal, he got two years behind bars after testifying against the Nine Trey Gang. He’s currently serving the remainder of his jail term in house arrest after he’s released early from prison in April due to the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Kodak Black Optimistic He Will Be Back Home 'Real Soon' to Release New Music

    Twitter

The ‘Zeze’ rapper’s lawyer has got Florida state authorities agreeing to drop their weapons charges case against his client if he completed a 500-hour drug treatment program.
    Jun 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rapper Kodak Black is reassuring fans he’ll be home “real soon” after his 30-year prison sentence was reduced.
The rapper addressed his supporters in an Instagram post after news broke on Sunday, June 07, that Florida state authorities had agreed to drop their weapons charges case against him if he completed a drug treatment programme.
In the post, he teased the release of his new album, “Vultures Cry 2”, featuring Wizdawizard and Mike Smiff.
“Gonna Be Home Real Soon To Drop All These Projects,” he wrote alongside an image of the album’s cover art.

The “Zeze” star, real name Bill K. Kapri, was ordered to serve 46 months behind bars in November (19) after falsifying information on federal forms to purchase three firearms in Miami. State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle also filed separate charges regarding the same incident, accusing Kodak of three felony counts for possession of a firearm by an individual under 24.
However, the embattled MC’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, has since reached a deal with Fernandez-Rundle to bring the case to a close without having his client serve more prison time, which could have amounted to an additional 15 years.
Instead, they agreed Kodak, who has been locked up since his May, 2019 arrest, must complete a 500-hour drug treatment course.
The maximum security prison where he is currently housed does not offer the programme and the rap star is set to be moved to a lower-security facility.
Once he logs his 500 hours, he will be eligible to serve out the rest of his sentence at a halfway house.

  • Nicki Minaj and 6ix9ine to Use New Collaboration Song to Support Black Lives Matter Protests

    Instagram

Some of the proceeds from ‘Trollz’, which will be released on June 12, will go to The Bail Project Inc. which provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals amid fight against racial injustice.
    Jun 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nicki Minaj has reunited with fellow rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine for a new song benefitting those in need of bail assistance amid the Black Lives Matter protests.
The stars, who previously collaborated on 2018 track “FEFE”, have come together for “Trollz”, the second single of Tekashi’s music comeback following a stint behind bars for gang-related crimes.
The tune will be released on Friday, June 12, and Minaj reveals some of the proceeds will support the ongoing fight for social and racial justice.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, she writes, “A portion of the proceeds from #Trollz including merch items, will be going directly to The Bail Project Inc. The fund provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial.
“We want to protect and support the thousands of brave people working on the front lines of social justice, using their voices to demand AN END to the targeting and killing of Black Americans by the police. #BlackLivesMatter”.

Tekashi had previously decided to press pause on his new music release plans “out of respect” for the Black Lives Matter movement, in the wake of the death of African-American George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer in Minnesota in late May.

Minaj isn’t the only artist willing to work with Tekashi after he turned on his former gangmembers to cooperate with federal prosecutors and secure a lesser sentence – he’s also teased a sequel to singer Akon’s 2004 release “Locked Up”.
