Ariana Grande Asks 6ix9ine to Humble Himself After He Accused Her of Chart Manipulation

    Instagram

The ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker has topped the Billboard Hot 100 with her Justin Bieber collaboration, ‘Stuck With U’, but the ‘Gooba’ rapper suggests that the two bought their way to the top.
    May 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande has fired back at rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine after he suggested she and Justin Bieber bought their way to the top of the U.S. charts.
The pop pair’s new track, “Stuck With U”, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on Monday, May 18 – two spots above the rap star, whose “Gooba” bowed at three.
After picking up a copy of the new countdown, Tekashi posted a video from his post-prison home confinement and said, “I want the world to know that Billboard is a lie. You can buy number ones on Billboard.”
He added, “They purchased half of those things with six credit cards. When we asked where was those six credit cards linked to, Billboard said, ‘We can’t disclose that information’ (sic).”

Angry Ariana was quick to dismiss the rapper’s claims as she thanked fans for giving her a third number one debut.
“Anyone who knows me or has followed me for a while knows that numbers aren’t the driving force in anything i do,” she wrote on social media. “i’m grateful to sing. grateful to have people who want to listen. grateful to even be here at all. i didn’t have a number one for the first five years of my career and it didn’t upset me at all because from the bottom of my heart, music is everything to me. my fans are everything to me. i promise i couldn’t ask for another f***ing thing.”
“I would like to address a few things which i don’t usually do (i don’t give my energy to drama or strange accusations normally but this has gone a little too far)… my fans bought the song. JUSTIN’S fans bought the song. OUR fans bought this song (never more than four copies each, AS THE RULES STATE). they are ride or die motherf**kers and i thank god every day that i have them in my life. Not just when they fight for us to win (even when i ask them not to as i did this week) but because they’re some of the greatest people i know.”
And she wasn’t done there, adding, “Sales count for more than streams. u can not discredit this as hard as u try. to anybody that is displeased with their placement on the chart this week or who is spending their time racking their brain thinking of as many ways as they can to discredit hardworking women… i ask u to take a moment to humble yourself. be grateful you’re even here. that people want to listen to u at all. it’s a blessed position to be in (sic).”
She concluded her carefully-worded rant by stating, “Congratulations to all my talented a** peers in the top ten this week. even number 3. And thank u to @billboard for this honor.”

Tekashi responded with a new video on Monday, addressing Ariana directly and saying, “I don’t want you to think that I’m coming at you. I’m not saying you’re not talented, I’m not saying you can’t sing. You’re a beautiful singer, you just don’t understand my pain. My frustration is from Billboard. I speak for the millions of kids that come from nothing, right. Let me show you something…”
He then revealed an old video of himself and shared TV footage of Ariana playing Cat Valentine, before adding that he comes from “a different background,” mentioning his mother “used to collect cans on the street” while he used to “be a dishwasher.”
He captioned the video, “@arianagrande All I’m saying is I worked super hard to make it out of Brooklyn NY (New York),” adding that he grew up on welfare, without a father.

Tekashi concluded his post with, “YOU ARE VERY TALENTED AND BEAUTIFUL GOD BLESS YOU. But you will NEVER UNDERSTAND MY PAIN.”

Barbz Mad at Usher for Calling Nicki Minaj a 'Product' of Lil' Kim

    WENN

The ‘U Got It Bad’ rapper inadvertently shades the ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker while weighing on potential ‘Verzuz’ battle between Nicki and Kim during an Instagram Live chat with Swizz Beatz.
    May 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Usher has incurred the wrath of Barbz. The R&B singer inadvertently threw shade at Nicki Minaj during an Instagram Live chat with Swizz Beatz while talking about potential “Verzuz” battles fans are begging for.
During their discussion on Sunday, May 17, they brought up a few “Verzuz” battles involving Lil’ Kim that fans want a lot. “I see a lot of, Lil’ Kim versus Foxy Brown. Then I see a lot of – Lil’ Kim versus Nicki? I see a lot of that,” Swizz said to Usher.
Usher thinks the latter battle is impossible, saying, “Nah, Nicki is a product of Kim.” His remark quickly gained reactions from social media users as Swizz alerted the “Yeah!” hitmaker, “You already trending on Twitter right now, by the way.” He went on enthusing, “This is the Verzuz effect, king. I see you trending on Twitter! This is special, this is fun.”

Usher didn’t further explain his comment, but considering his history with Nicki, he might not mean to disrespect her. He teamed up with the Harajuku Barbie on 2010’s “Lil’ Freak”, while he also worked with Kim when she appeared on his song “Just Like Me”.
This didn’t stop people from commenting on Usher’s claim about Nicki being a “product” of Kim. Agreeing with the awards-winning singer, one commented, “Of course she’s the product, Kim is the blue print.” An Instagram user reminded others, “Y’all are really dumb to think she’s not … she’s said it herself many times Kim influenced her and opened doors that allowed her to be the super star she is today.”
While acknowledging that Nicki was influenced by Kim, a third person thinks that the Trinidad and Tobago-born femcee has grown beyond that. “I mean she has always showed Kim love as she should Kim paved the way I’ll never take that from her….but let’s be real Nick has surpassed being ‘a product of lil Kim’ I know y’all Dont wanna hear the TRUTH…..I just wished Nick and Kim would squash whatever it is and make a hit together,” the said user wrote.
Another similarly said of the “Starships” raptress, “Nicki has surpassed lil Kim in every which way possible .. Nicki also gave usher some on her hottest versus on his song .. they always discrediting her.”
Some others slammed Usher for making such disrespectful comment about Nicki. “She wasn’t a product when he asked for a feature,” one said of Justin Bieber’s mentor. Another who disagreed with Usher commented, “Nicki Minaj is in her own lane! Give her her damn respect. Y’all stuck on these color wigs… and that lollipop picture… Kim cool but Nicki pen game is unmatched!!”
Also not having Usher’s comment, someone else clapped back, “HOW THO?! Nicki music isn’t comparable to Kim’s at all. Their music style is different and y’all know it. A few wings and appearances don’t mean nothing. And if we gone talk about ‘product’ Bc of style then let’s talk about how kim is a product of Cher and Madonna.”

'American Idol' Finale: Jordin Sparks and Past Winners Help Lionel Richie Remake 'We Are the World'

    WENN

Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Phillip Phillips, Scotty McCreery and Laine Hardy are also joined in the performance by other alumni including Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler and Lauren Alaina.
    May 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – “American Idol” has crowned its Season 18 winner, but the finale offered more than that. One of the highlights from the Sunday night, May 17 show was the return of past winners, including Jordin Sparks, Ruben Studdard and Fantasia Barrino, to help judge Lionel Richie in performing a remake of “We Are the World”.
Joining the foursome to deliver a beautiful rendition of the song Ritchie co-wrote in 1985 with Michael Jackson were Season 10, 11 and 17 winners, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips and Laine Hardy respectively. Other “Idol” alumni, including Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Lauren Alaina, Gabby Barrett and Alejandro Aranda, also took part.

“We Are the World” were originally produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian. Made as a charity single to benefit starvation relief efforts in Africa, it was performed by USA for Africa, a supergroup which included the likes of Bob Dylan, Diana Ross, Paul Simon, Ray Charles and Tina Turner.
The unifying anthem got remade by Richie and Wyclef Jean in 2010 as a response to devastating earthquake in Haiti. This version featured Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg and Toni Braxton among others.
Back in March 2020, Richie offered his thought on remaking the song for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic 35 years after its first release. “Two weeks ago, we said we didn’t want to do too much [about the song] because this is not the time to sell an anniversary. But the message is so clear,” he said referring to a line in the chorus, “There’s a choice we’re making, we’re saving our own lives.”
“That line came about as Michael and I were sitting there talking. We said, you can either say, ‘I’m saving my life’ or ‘We’re saving our lives,’ ” the 70-year-old explained in an interview with PEOPLE. ” ‘We Are the World’ is a statement we wanted to make. What do we do to save our own?” He added that every time he tried to write a different song, he wrote “those same words.”
The season 18 finale was filled with individual performances from the Top 5, Dillon James, Jonny West, Arthur Gunn, Francisco Martin and Justin Sam, as well as performances from Richie’s fellow judges, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. Other performers for the finale included Lauren Daigle and Cynthia Erivo.

Ludacris Slammed for Name-Dropping R. Kelly on New Song

    Instagram

In addition to that, Luda put a Bill Cosby reference on his and Lil Wayne’s upcoming song ‘Silence of the Lambs’, which he previews during a song battle on ‘Verzuz’ with Nelly.
    May 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ludacris had a song battle with Nelly in the Saturday, May 17 episode of Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s “Verzuz”. In the episode, Luda decided to treat fans to a snippet of his new song featuring Lil Wayne, only to get backlash.
He previewed the song, which was titled “Silence of the Lambs”, three times in a row. It made fans easy enough to catch the R. Kelly and Bill Cosby references in the lyrics.
Produced by Timbaland, the song opens with a mention of Bill as the lyrics read, “The world screwed if n****s pouring drinks like Bill Huxtable.” As if that wasn’t enought, Luda later rapped, “I love R. Kelly but around my daughters, I’m not comfortable.”

It didn’t take long before people on the Internet were coming after Luda for his questionable sentiment about Kelly. “Ludacris really thought it was appropriate to tell us he loves R.Kelly in 2020 and told us three times. I’m still in shock,” someone tweeted.
“I still can’t believe Ludacris played a new song with that R Kelly line THREE TIMES. Never let that man on live again,” another user wrote. “I’m still mad Ludacris previewed that Wayne song and dropped Cosby and R Kelly lines to start off the song. And ran it back like 5 times,” another person stated.
Someone else added, “Nelly won tonight off the strength of Ludacris shouting out out R. Kelly not once, not twice, but three times in a 10 minute window. I don’t make the rules.”
“Ludacris said ‘I love R. Kelly but around my daughters I’m not comfortable.’ Ehm I think you might want to REWRITE THAT LINE yunno,” a fan suggested. “Ludacris giving us bill cosby, r. kelly and roseanne bars in 2020 along with a chance the rapper feature. who asked for this? more importantly,” one other said, referring to Luda’s lyrics in which he shaded Roseanne Barr by declaring that racists were still drinking “from Roseanne’s bar.”

    May 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – R&B star Ashanti was almost replaced on Fat Joe’s 2001 hit “What’s Luv?” by Jennifer Lopez, according to the rapper himself.
The hip-hop heavyweight shared the news in an Instagram Live chat with Ashanti on Friday, May 15, revealing her Murder Inc Records boss Irv Gotti and frequent collaborator Ja Rule had initially pitched him the idea of having J.Lo record over the “Baby” singer’s demo vocals.
Recalling how the track came about, Fat Joe said, “Irv and Ja had called me, and they woke me up (at) like three in the morning, and they say, ‘Yo, come down (to the studio), we made a song for you’.”
“I go to the studio, it was like four in the morning. They played What’s Luv? and you on it. And they was telling me, ‘Yo, this is for you and J.Lo. We want the Latinos on this (sic)’.”
Clearly stunned by the revelation, Ashanti was featured mouthing, “What?”.
“That’s a fact,” the MC confirmed, as she remarked, “Yo, I never knew that.”
Fat Joe ended up fighting to keep Ashanti on the tune, which became a massive hit and earned the pair a Grammy Award nomination.

Artist of the Week: Ariana Grande

The ‘Thank You, Next’ singer gives people a reason to smile with her new single while raising money for good cause and racing to the top spot on Billboard Hot 100.
    May 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Coronavirus pandemic has forced millions of people around the globe to stay at home in a bid to prevent further spread of the killer disease. With remarkable talent and plenty of time in her hands, Ariana Grande managed to keep her creative juices flowing.
Collaborating with Justin Bieber who’s under the same management, the petite singer crafted a love ballad that many people could relate to during the lockdown. Called “Stuck With U”, it’s about a couple who lock themselves indoors to get to know each other better.
The music video is full of laughs and smiles with cameo appearances by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Demi Lovato, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Ariana used the video to introduce her new boyfriend Dalton Gomez while Justin appeared with his wife Hailey Baldwin.
The song is expected to have an uplifting impact amidst the doom and gloom of the global health crisis, but it’s deeper than that. All proceeds from the single are donated to fund scholarships of children of frontline workers whose lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The song received positive response from fans. It climbed high to the fourth spot in the U.K. singles chart, becoming this week’s highest new entry across the pond. Stateside, the song is ranked first in Billboard poll of favorite new music with 75 percent of the vote, leaving its rivals by the likes of Kehlani and Chris Brown in the dust.
Meanwhile, competition is fierce on Billboard Hot 100. Doja Cat’s “Say So” remix featuring Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix featuring Beyonce Knowles, Tekashi 6ix9ine’s new single “Gooba”, and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” are all in a neck-and-neck race to No. 1. Ariana and Justin join the rally and are expected to explode on the chart.
Their charity single is predicted to debut so high that it has already gotten their rival Tekashi69 shaken. He’s so anxious that he accused Billboard of playing favorites and fixing the rankings. According to emails received by the rapper on Thursday, May 14, “Stuck With U” climbed up to No. 5 before jumping to No. 1 after gaining 60,000 units in mere hours.
