Megan Thee Stallion's Label Boss Accuses Jay-Z of Trying to Steal Her, Claims She Owes Him $2M

    Instagram/https://www.beyonce.com/

The 1501 CEO Carl Crawford claims he’s being robbed and blames Jay-Z’s management company Roc Nation for pitting him against the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ hitmaker.
    Mar 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Carl Crawford broke his silence on Megan Thee Stallion fiasco. The 1501 label boss denied being greedy and blocking her from releasing new music. “The only thing we ever did was give, give, give. Now, she fell for the oldest trick in the industry: the conquer and divide theme,” he told Billboard.
Carl blamed Jay-Z for causing friction between him and his artist. He said, “Everybody in the industry knows this is what Jay-Z and Roc Nation do: They come in, the find the smallest things wrong with the problem — because there weren’t any problems before she left — and then she says that I didn’t want to negotiate?”
He continued, “Ok, tell everybody your definition of negotiating. Your definition is, ‘OK. I’m going to send Suge Knight’s old lawyers to come in, and it’s a stick-up…’ Of course, I’m like, ‘This isn’t a negotiation. This is a robbery.’ ”
He also accused Jay-Z of trying to steal Megan, “Their real plan was to get you out of my contract so they can sign you to Roc Nation. That’s all they want to do.”
“We gave this girl a 60-40 split. Now go ask the artist about that. She got parts of her masters [the] first time. You think Jay-Z would have gave her part of her masters on her first deal with Roc Nation? F**k no. Then, she’s getting $100,000 a show and she don’t want to pay up. That’s what the issue was about. She signed with Roc Nation in August and decided she didn’t wanna pay me no more.”
While Megan claimed Carl held her album hostage, the label boss accused her of owing him nearly $2 million. “They’re using that as a strong-arm tactic so that I can renegotiate the contract,” he explained. “They’re holding the money, and they haven’t paid me since August. She done over 15 shows. Y’all do the math.”
“She gets $100,000 a show. She owe me, and I haven’t recouped almost $2 million that we spent on her, building her up so that Roc Nation would wanna come [around]. Where was Roc Nation at when we was grinding and riding around on them backstreets? Roc Nation was nowhere to be found.”
While scoffing at her claims about not understanding her contract when she first signed it, he accused her of lying about her age. “She signed two contacts. You signed one with me and 300 [Entertainment]. You mean to tell me, you, your mama and your lawyer didn’t read over that stuff every time? Stop lying. You wasn’t 20, you were 23 years old. You was a grown up. You’re just a liar.”

Jay-Z to Sign $10M Deal With Sony

    https://www.beyonce.com/

The Roc Nation founder is allegedly getting ready to sign a new multi-million-dollar deal with the giant music publishing company to manage all the songs he penned.
    Mar 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jay-Z is reportedly gearing up to boost his already bulging bank balance by signing a new $10 million deal with Sony.
According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, the rapper has been in discussions with Sony/ATV Music Publishing CEO Jon Platt, and has agreed a new deal which will see the label manage all the songs he has written to date.
“Sony has had its eye on Jay for a while and they have reached a deal which allows them to manage the songs he has written in exchange for one of the biggest advances in publishing history,” a source told the publication. “This helps him extend his lead as one of the wealthiest artists in the business.”
Jay has previously spoken highly of Platt, who oversaw a similar deal with the mogul’s wife Beyonce Knowles in January 2020, calling him his “brother” and the “Obama of the music industry.”

Chuck D Responds After Flavor Flav Says He's Disappointed by Public Enemy Firing

    Instagram

The Public Enemy co-founder insists Flavor was not kicked out of the group due to their different political views following dispute over Bernie Sanders support.
    Mar 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Flavor Flav has responded after being fired from Public Enemy, admitting he’s “very disappointed” in co-founder Chuck D.
The feud between the pair began after Chuck signed up to perform with offshoot band Public Enemy Radio at a Los Angeles rally for Bernie Sanders, leading to Flav sending the politician a cease-and-desist notice to stop using Public Enemy’s name and his likeness in campaign propaganda.
Chuck then hit back at his original bandmate, with his attorney insisting he “could perform as Public Enemy if he ever wanted to” because “he is the sole owner of the Public Enemy trademark,” and insisted on Twitter that his issues with Flav’s stance don’t stem from their political beliefs.
A few hours later, a statement from Public Enemy announced they would be “moving forward without” Flav, and the rapper responded on his own Twitter page on Monday night, March 2, 2020.
“Are you kidding me right now??? Over Bernie Sanders???” he tweeted. “You wanna destroy something we’ve built over 35 years OVER POLITICS??? All because I don’t wanna endorse a candidate… I’m very disappointed in you and your decisions right now Chuck.”
He then added that he is not Chuck’s “employee… I’m your partner… you can’t fire me,” and tweeted, “There is no Public Enemy without Flavor Flav… so let’s get it right Chuck.”

Following his tweets, Public Enemy hit back in another statement, insisting they “did not part ways with Flavor Flav over his political views.”
“Flavor Flav has been on suspension since 2016 when he was MIA from the Harry Belafonte benefit in Atlanta, Georgia,” the statement continued. “That was the last straw for the group.”
“He had previously missed numerous live gigs from Glastonbury to Canada, album recording sessions and photo shoots. He always chose to party over work.”

Flav has yet to respond to the latest Public Enemy statement.

Roddy Rich's 'The Box' Extends Its Hot 100 Domination for An Eighth Week

Settling on the second slot is Drake and Future’s ‘Life is Good’, while BTS score their highest-peaking hit on the Billboard chart with ‘ON’ debuting at number four.
    Mar 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Roddy Ricch has posted an eighth week at the top of America’s Hot 100 with “The Box”, keeping Drake and Future’s “Life is Good” pegged at two.
The two rap hits have dominated the Billboard countdown for the past seven weeks, with Drake and Future’s new track becoming the first to spend that amount of time at two.
Post Malone’s “Circles” makes it a rap one-two-three, while BTS (Bangtan Boys) score their highest-peaking Hot 100 hit as “ON” debuts at four, a day after the K-pop boy band took “Map of the Soul: 7” to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart, and Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” completes the top five.

Megan Thee Stallion Prevents Record Label From Blocking Her New Music

    Instagram

The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ has been granted a temporary restraining order against 1501 Certified Entertainment after filing suit against label boss Carl Crawford and his associates.
    Mar 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Megan Thee Stallion has won a big battle in her legal spat with record label bosses. A judge has ruled she can release new music this week without their interference.
The hip-hop star filed suit against 1501 Certified Entertainment boss Carl Crawford and his associates on Monday (March 02), claiming they were blocking her from releasing new music, because she wants to renegotiate a contract she signed when she was 20.
A district judge in Harris County, Texas has granted the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker a temporary restraining order preventing label bosses from blocking the music she plans to release on Friday (March 06), according to TMZ.
During an Instagram Live video on Sunday, Megan said, “When I signed, I didn’t really know what was in my contract. I was young… So when I got with Roc Nation, I got management, real management. I got real lawyers, and they were like, ‘Do you know that this is in your contract?’ And I was like, ‘Oh damn, that’s crazy, no I didn’t know.’ ”
The “All Dat” hitmaker didn’t specify which terms she objected to, but explained she wanted to adjust the contract to remove the clauses, which ultimately seemed to sour her relationship with the label.
“As soon as I said I wanna renegotiate my contract, everything went left. It just went all bad,” she added. “So now they’re telling a b***h she can’t drop no music (sic). It’s really just, like, a greedy game.”

Megan made it clear she doesn’t want to leave the label – she just wants a fairer contract.

Demi Lovato 'Couldn't Keep the Secret' of New Single 'I Love Me' Any Longer

The ‘Give Your Heart a Break’ songstress takes to her Instagram page to reveal the release date of her new song, saying that it will be unveiled this week on Friday, February 6.
    Mar 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato’s new single is on its way. A little over one month after releasing her emotional ballad “Anyone”, the “Give Your Heart a Break” songstress spilled that her “secret” song titled “I Love Me” would be made available sooner rather than later.
Taking to her Instagram account, the 27-year-old singer revealed that her new music would drop on Friday, February 6. Along with what seemed to be the artwork of the single, she shared with her followers, “Couldn’t keep it a secret any longer!!! My new single #ILoveMe is out on Friday.”
The Instagram post itself saw the “Skyscraper” singer donning a red leather trench coat while standing on the street. Offering a soft smile, she threw her head back and closed her eyes.

Demi’s announcement has excited fans and celebrities alike. Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez exclaimed, “Yesssss!! can’t wait girl,” while “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Brooke Lynn Hytes reacted by writing, “That’s so weird because I also LOVE YOU! (And me).” Demi’s mother Dianna De La Garza, on the other hand, warned, “The world’s not ready for this song…”
“I Love Me” might be the body positivity song Demi recently talked about. Back in February, she shared on Ashley Graham’s “Pretty Big Deal” podcast, “I was in the studio and I was working with one of my favorite producers. We were writing and we were making this song, it was like an anthem about body positivity.”

Demi made a comeback to the music world at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in late January, nearly two years after suffering a drug overdose in 2018. The “Heart Attack” singer, at the time, delivered an emotional performance of “Anyone” which has since debuted at No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and given her a No. 1 debut on the Digital Song Sales chart. Days later, she sang a rendition of “Star Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl LIV.

    Mar 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Drake thrilled fans over the weekend (February 29-March 01) by dropping an extended music video featuring two new tracks.
The hitmaker released “When to Say When” and “Chicago Freestyle” in one video late on Saturday (February 29) night, featuring footage from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects and Manhattan’s Diamond district in New York, and Drake’s hometown Toronto, Canada.
“When to Say When” sees the star reference the mother of his son Adonis, French artist Sophie Brussaux, by saying, “Baby mama fluke, but I love her for who she is.”
He also refers to his impressive success on the U.S. Billboard charts, adding, “Five hundred weeks, I fill the charts with my pain.”
Meanwhile, “Chicago Freestyle”, which features British singer Sampha, sees the star, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, reflect on life on the road and how difficult it is to connect with his girlfriends in Chicago.

The release is Drake’s second of 2020, after he dropped a pair of tracks with Future, “Life Is Good” and “Desires”, back in January. The new release halts rumors the pair are working on collaborative follow-up to their 2015 mixtape, “What a Time to Be Alive”.

Recording Academy Seeks New Grammys CEO After Officially Firing Deborah Dugan

    WENN/Instar

Officials at the Recording Academy’s Board of Trustees confirm that Dugan has been terminated from her role after weighing all of the evidence from two independent investigations.
    Mar 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Grammy bosses have officially fired Recording Academy president and CEO Deborah Dugan, who has been on administrative leave since January.
Her potential departure overshadowed the 2020 Grammy Awards, and now officials at the Recording Academy’s Board of Trustees have confirmed she’s no longer part of the organisation in a letter to members.
The statement explains the trustees voted to terminate her employment after two “exhaustive” and “independent” investigations into allegations made against Dugan and by her.
She was accused of misconduct, while alleging sexual harassment and “egregious conflicts of interest, improper self-dealing by Board members, and voting irregularities with respect to nominations for Grammy Awards,” calling the Recording Academy a “boys’ club.” All the claims were denied by both parties.
In the trustees’ letter to members, Recording Academy chairman and interim CEO Harvey Mason, Jr. writes, “After weighing all of the evidence from two independent investigations, the Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy voted to terminate Ms. Dugan from her role as President/CEO.”
He confirmed there is a search underway for Dugan’s successor, adding, “We will look carefully to see where the last one led us astray and make any necessary changes going forward.”
