AceShowbiz – Actresses Michelle Williams, Naomi Watts, Amy Poehler are among the winners for the female-focused Gracie Awards.
Williams’ role in “Fosse/Verdon” has earned her the Actress in a Leading Role – Made for TV Movie or Limited Series prize while Watts has been recognized in the category of Actress in a Supporting Role – Made for TV Movie or Limited Series for “The Loudest Voice”, which has been awarded the Limited Series title.
Poehler and her “Russian Doll” star Natasha Lyonne have been celebrated with the Producer – Entertainment accolade for the hit Netflix drama series while the team behind the “Surviving R. Kelly” docuseries have landed the Producer – Documentary/Unscripted/Non-Fiction – Grand Award.
Other winners include “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” ‘s Stephanie Beatriz (Actress in a Supporting Role – Comedy or Musical), comedienne Niecy Nash (On-Air Talent – Entertainment for hosting the 2019 Black Girls Rock! ceremony), “Superstore” (Ensemble Cast), and Lifetime’s “Patsy & Loretta”, about the friendship between country singers Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, which scored the Made for Television Movie award.
Winners are usually saluted at a special gala, but plans for this year’s event are still being reevaluated due to the coronavirus crisis. Details about the new ceremony are expected to be announced soon.
The Gracie Awards are presented by officials at the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) and celebrate “exemplary programming created by, for and about women in radio, television and interactive media.”
