Oprah Winfrey to Salute Tina Turner at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammys Party

    WENN/Instagram

The former daytime talk show host is reportedly tapped to pay homage to the music icon at the upcoming star-studded event ahead of the Biggest Night in Music.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Oprah Winfrey will reportedly pay tribute to Tina Turner at Clive Davis’ Grammys party.

The TV icon has been interviewed by the influential music producer for his upcoming celebration, and the duo took the opportunity to discuss the legacy of the 81-year-old singer.

“He interviewed her for 90 minutes… it will, of course, be edited,” a source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column. “It’s linked to one of his favourite Tina Turner performances, and there was quite a bit of discussion around Tina. Clive was very excited that he got Oprah. It’s a big deal. He was like, ‘Can you believe this?’ ”

Rather than his usual Beverly Hilton Pre-Grammys party, Clive instead held a virtual star-studded bash in January (21) with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Gayle King, Alicia Keys, and Joni Mitchell joining in the fun.

He had to postpone the second edition after being diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy in February.

At the time, his representative said, “He is in good spirits and looks forward to doing the second half of his pre-Grammy gala in May.”

He has since recovered and while a specific date is yet to be confirmed, the event is still expected next month.

“The names connected with ‘part two’ are going to be bigger, if not better (than the first),” the insider added.

Tina has been plagued with a number of health issues in recent years, including kidney failure, and it was her husband Erwin Bach who stepped up to donate a kidney to her in 2017.

Oprah Winfrey Unveiled Among Those Fooled by Eddie Murphy's Disguise in 'Coming to America'

    WENN/Mario Mitsis/Instar

When speaking to late night host Jimmy Kimmel, the ‘Coming 2 America’ star praises special effects maestro Rick Baker for transforming him and Arsenio Hall into their hilarious barbershop characters.

    Mar 3, 2021
AceShowbiz – Oprah Winfrey had no idea Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall were the actors behind the hilarious barbershop characters in their classic comedy “Coming to America”.
The funnymen wore heavy prosthetics to tackle a variety of parts, in addition to their lead roles, in the 1988 original, and they returned to the makeup chair once more to reprise the beloved characters for the long-awaited sequel, “Coming 2 America”.
“A lot of people don’t know that’s us in those makeups,” Murphy told late night host Jimmy Kimmel on Monday, March 01, revealing media mogul Oprah was one of them.
“Last week, I was doing another interview with Oprah and… I said something about the barbershop [scenes] – and I’m that Jewish man – and she was like, ‘What do you mean, you’re the Jewish man?'”
“I said, ‘Oh yeah, I’m the old Jewish guy in the barbershop,’ [and] she was like, ‘What?!’ She couldn’t believe it. And she’s seen the original ‘Coming to America’ and [its sequel] and all this time didn’t know.”

Murphy insists he doesn’t blame Oprah for missing that detail for so many years, because the prosthetics were the work of special effects maestro Rick Baker, who made them look so realistic, the former “Saturday Night Live” star once even scored the number of an elderly lady while in disguise.
“Those makeups are amazing,” he said. “Originally they were designed by Rick Baker – the genius – and those makeups… it’s like, I can go talk to you and you won’t know that it’s a makeup. It’s amazing.”
Hall, who was also present for the interview, recalled, “Eddie hit on an old lady once. Rick Baker let us walk around, he said, ‘Just try it out, move your face, you’ll see how it works,’ and we went out… and then [Eddie] got an old lady’s phone number! She thought he was a real old dude!”
And although the old pals had a blast donning the heavy cosmetics to bring the barbershop crew back to life onscreen for “Coming 2 America”, Murphy insists there will never be a spin-off – because the process is simply too time-consuming.
Asked if they’d ever consider such a project, Murphy quickly responded, “Oh no, it takes six hours to do those makeups.”
“To do a whole movie? A movie takes three months to do, [so] to do a whole movie with those people would take like, a year to make the movie.”
But Murphy’s reasoning didn’t deter Kimmel, who quipped, “I see that as your problem and not ours!”

The former daytime talk show host is set to sit down with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for the couple’s first interview since they announced they’re expecting a second child.

    Feb 16, 2021
AceShowbiz – Oprah Winfrey has landed the first sit-down interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since they announced their baby news on Sunday (14Feb21).
Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry’s first U.S. primetime interview with Oprah will air on CBS on 7 March (21).
The special will begin with a candid chat between Oprah and Meghan, covering topics like the former actress’ life as a royal, motherhood, and the pressure of public life and becoming one of the world’s most famous women.
“Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family,” a release reads.
Oprah and Meghan have been close for some time and the multi-media queen was a guest at the couple’s royal wedding in Britain in 2018.

Meanwhile, enterprising artists at Madame Tussauds Museum in Sydney, Australia have given their Duchess Meghan waxwork a baby bump to mark her pregnancy news.
The makeover also features the pregnant royal wearing a maternity dress.
The waxwork is surrounded by kangaroos, some of which are kissing her baby bump.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to say congratulations than by sending kangaroo kisses the royal family’s way,” a spokesperson for Madame Tussauds Sydney said.
Meghan’s pregnancy comes three months after she revealed she suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage last summer.
“I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right. I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” she recalled.

Prince Harry's Mental Health Docuseries With Oprah Winfrey Gets Stalled

    WENN/Avalon/Mario Mitsis

Speaking of her partnership with the Duke of Sussex on the Apple TV Plus series, the OWN founder reveals it was Meghan Markle’s husband who approached her about working together.

    Jan 4, 2021
AceShowbiz – Prince Harry’s Apple TV+ series with Oprah Winfrey has reportedly been delayed.
The Duke of Sussex joined forces with the TV mogul to create a mental health documentary series for the streaming service and although it was supposed to be released last year (20), the show is now not expected until at least spring 2021.
According to sources at Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “Covid-19 restrictions, Harry’s exit from the Royal Family and move to the U.S. have slowed down production.”
Harry and his wife Meghan Markle previously announced the show on their Sussex Royal Instagram account in 2019.
The post said, “We are excited to announce The Duke of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey are partners, co-creators and executive producers on their forthcoming mental health series launching on Apple in 2020.”

Oprah revealed that it was Harry who approached her about working on the show together, and they are both credited as co-executive producers.
She said, “We were having a discussion about, ‘What are the things that really matter to you in the world?’ And I’d asked Prince Harry that, and he said, ‘Climate change and mental health wellness.’ ”
“I went, ‘Gee, me too!’ So, from there, the conversation went to, ‘I’m doing this thing for Apple…’ and when I finished the conversation, he said, ‘Oh, if you need any help with that Apple thing…’ (and I was like), ‘Actually, I do!’ Would I have asked him? Probably not, so that’s how that (partnership) came about.”
Meanwhile, since quitting as senior royals last year, Harry and Meghan have moved to the U.S. with their son Archie and signed deals with Netflix and Spotify for assorted projects, including the couple’s first podcast which debuted in December (20).
