    Robin Wright Gets Emotional Upon Learning About Jill Biden's Reaction to Her Directorial Debut Film

    AceShowbiz – Robin Wright’s (previously Robin Wright Penn) movie directorial debut has been given a big thumbs up by America’s new First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden.
    The “Forrest Gump” star appeared on Kelly Clarkson’s U.S. talk show days after Biden was interviewed by the pop star last week (ends February 26), and revealed she and her husband, Joe Biden, had watched the actress’ new film, “Land”.
    In a clip from the White House chat Clarkson played for her guest, Biden said, “She (Wright’s character) goes out into the wilderness and survives. It’s a beautiful movie. You should see it.”
    Thrilled Robin responded, “That makes me wanna cry. That’s amazing. I mean, what they’ve been through and that it’s such a hopeful end to the movie… I hope it hugged their heart.”

    Wright briefly met Biden once at an event and added, “What an incredible woman.”
    “Land” is based on the original screenplay by Jesse Chatham and Golden Globe nominee Liz Hannah. Premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, it also saw Demian Bichir and Kim Dickens starring opposite Wright.
    The drama film follows Wright’s character, Edee Mathis, as she goes off the grid and tests her survival skills by living in a cabin in the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming. With the help of a Native American, she begins to confront her demons and surprises herself with her own will to survive.
    Ass for her experience filming the movie, Wright opened up about the challenge that shocked her the most. “It was stomaching the skinning of the animal. And I eat meat,” the actress told USA Today. “But I just – I don’t want to see that. You don’t think it’s going to shock you. And it does.”
    “I mean, you couldn’t have a more distant comparison between what it was like shooting ‘House of Cards’ to shooting and directing ‘Land’. (For ‘House of Cards’) we were on a stage outside of Baltimore for six years on sets in an airplane hangar,” she explained. “This was a completely different beast because you’re dealing with nature.”

      AceShowbiz – Robin Wright Penn’s biggest challenge on her movie directorial debut “Land” was skinning an animal.
      The actress helmed the film and also stars as Edee – a lawyer who takes herself off the grid and travels to the most unpopulated area in the United States – and the actress admitted she was left “shocked” by the animal skinning process.
      Wright – who has directed 10 episodes of Netflix drama “House of Cards” – told USA Today, “It was stomaching the skinning of the animal. And I eat meat.”

      “But I just – I don’t want to see that. You don’t think it’s going to shock you. And it does. I mean, you couldn’t have a more distant comparison between what it was like shooting House of Cards to shooting and directing Land. (For House of Cards) we were on a stage outside of Baltimore for six years on sets in an airplane hangar. This was a completely different beast because you’re dealing with nature.”
      But the movie – which also stars Demian Bichir and Kim Dickens – nearly didn’t make it to screens, as Wright admitted she was “ready to throw in the towel” when pitching the motion picture at the Cannes Film Festival, but her final meeting of the day, with Focus Features, proved to be successful.
      “No one was biting. I was like, I don’t think this is going to work,” she recalled. “I don’t think anybody wants to see this movie. And I was ready to throw in the towel.”
      Of Bichir, Wright said that he “had a great desire to play this part because he went through a similar situation in his life, the way Edee did, and it was therapy for him. He told me that he needed to do it for that reason.”

      The original stars of the classic romantic comedy movie are reuniting for an online fundraising along with famous guests like Finn Wolfhard and Jason Reitman.

      AceShowbiz – Robin Wright, Billy Crystal, and Christopher Guest are among “The Princess Bride” stars set to reunite for a virtual event to raise money for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
      The trio will be joined by fellow co-stars Cary Elwes, Carol Kane, Chris Sarandon, Mandy Patinkin, and Wallace Shawn for the reunion, which will see them read the original script from the 1987 movie.
      Rob Reiner, who directed “The Princess Bride”, will take on the role of The Grandfather in the reading, while Josh Gad, Eric Idle, Whoopi Goldberg, Finn Wolfhard, Shaun Ross, and Jason Reitman will also take on guest star spots.
      Patton Oswalt will moderate a Q&A session after the script reading, during which Norman Lear, the executive producer of the original film, will join in.
      A sign-up fee and donation is required to view the reunion, at 6pm CT on Sunday (13Sep20), but there’s no minimum donation amount.

      AceShowbiz – “The Princess Bride” stars Robin Wright Penn and Cary Elwes have teamed up online to announce their classic movie is heading to streaming site Disney+.
      The former castmates teamed up from their homes to chat about the movie and dropped the bombshell that will surely prompt fans to reach for the remote.
      “If I was stuck in front of my TV, I could think of some fun things to watch – like that ‘Princess Bride’ movie we made together,” Cary teased, prompting Robin, who referred to Elwes as “my Wesley” – the character he played in the film, to respond, “Is that on again?”

      Cary then informed fans the 1987 movie will debut on Disney+ on 1 May.
