Saweetie Appears to Call Quavo 'Narcissist' in New Song Following Dramatic Split

    WENN/Apega

Prior to this, Quavo seemingly dissed the ‘Icy Girl’ raptress in a snippet of an unreleased track in which the Migos rapper appeared to talk about the Bentley that he gave to Saweetie back in December 2020.

    Apr 17, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Saweetie seemingly is clapping back at ex-boyfriend Quavo. The 27-year-old musician appeared to diss the Migos rapper in a new track which was included in her new EP “Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1”. Titled “See Saw”, the song features Saweetie rapping about a man who hurts her.

“How you figure, ain’t the woman that you thought/ You was humpin’ thots, f**kin’ narcissist you just mad you got caught,” she spits her fiery bars. Meanwhile, Sacramento-based songstress Kendra Jae joins her in the hot new song, taking the vocals on the tune.

Prior to this, Quavo was accused of dissing the “Icy Girl” raptress in a snippet of an unreleased track. In the audio, which surfaced online earlier this month, the Athens-born artist rhymed, “Skrtttt Skrtttt takin back dat Bentley/ F**d dem h**s now I gotta act stingy/ new Huncho & Petro otw.” Fans believed that he was likely referring to the Bentley that he gave his then-girlfriend as a gift in December 2020.

After the pair called it quits in February, words were Quavo took back the lavish car. “Quavo’s no dummy – the Bentley wasn’t in her name,” a source told MTO News at the time. “He’s not being petty or anything, but she’s on Twitter talking s**t. So he took back the car… He got that s**t.” However, the reports were later debunked as TMZ claimed that the 29-year-old emcee neither leased the car in his name nor ended the lease early.

While it did seem messy, the uglier part of their breakup was when a video surfaced online in March, featuring the then-couple having a physical altercation in an elevator. The “Best Friend” raptress seemingly lashed out at the “Congratulations” spitter as they grappled over a Call of Duty case.

Of the footage, Saweetie said that “this unfortunate incident happened a year ago.” She continued, “While we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on. I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.”

Quavo also released his own statement in which he denied physically abused the raptress. “We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from,” he told TMZ. “I haven’t physically abused Saweetie and have real gratitude for what we did share overall.”

Quavo Appears to Diss Saweetie in New Snippet of Unreleased Track

    WENN/Apega

The Migos star and the ‘Icy Girl’ raptress have a messy breakup after the former is accused of domestic abuse following the leak of their elevator fight footage.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Quavo appears to be having no intention to keep things civil between him and Saweetie following their split. If this is any indication, the Migos star may have caused further strain in their relationship as he appears to diss his ex in a new snippet of an unreleased track.

In the newly-surfaced audio, the Athens-born artist rhymes, “Skrtttt Skrtttt takin back dat Bentley/ F**d dem h**s now I gotta act stingy/ new Huncho & Petro otw.” He is likely referring to the Bentley that he gave his then-girlfriend as a gift in December 2020.

Following their split in February, there were rumors saying that Quavo repossessed the expensive car that he gifted his ex. “Quavo’s no dummy – the Bentley wasn’t in her name,” a source told MTO News at the time. “He’s not being petty or anything, but she’s on Twitter talking s**t. So he took back the car… He got that s**t.”

TMZ, however, later debunked the news, claiming that the 29-year-old emcee neither leased the car in his name nor ended the lease early in the wake of his breakup from his ex-girlfriend.

But that wasn’t the ugliest part of their breakup. In late March, a video surfaced of Quavo and Saweetie’s altercation in an elevator. In the footage, the “Best Friend” raptress appeared to lash out at the “Congratulations” spitter and they grappled over a Call of Duty case.

Saweetie tumbled to the floor as her then-boyfriend stood over her. Quavo eventually exited the elevator as his ex gathered herself and got up.

Saweetie later addressed the video, saying that “this unfortunate incident happened a year ago.” She also denied that the physical altercation led to their breakup. “While we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on,” she explained. “I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.”

Quavo, meanwhile, denied that he ever laid hands on his ex-girlfriend. “We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from,” he told TMZ. “I haven’t physically abused Saweetie and have real gratitude for what we did share overall.”

Saweetie Tipped as Next Big Star After New Deal With Warner Chappell Music

    Instagram

The ‘Tap In’ hitmaker is tipped as ‘the next big female breakout star’ by the publishing company of WMG after extending her agreement with the music giant.

    Apr 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Saweetie has extended her publishing agreement with Warner Chappell Music.

The rapper and the publishing company of Warner Music Group have inked a new deal, with the organisation tipping her as “the next big female breakout star.”

Ryan Press, Warner Chappell Music President of A&R, U.S., said in a statement, “We’ve been lucky enough to be on this incredible journey with Saweetie since the very beginning. We’re in the business of taking early bets on artists and helping develop them into global sensations, and that’s exactly the trajectory Saweetie is on. She’s well on her way to becoming the next big female breakout star, and we’re so proud to be able to continue to support her.”

And Saweetie, who is signed to Warner Chappell’s sister label, Warner Records, added, “Ryan and the whole Warner Chappell team have become family over the years. It’s amazing to look back at everything we’ve accomplished together, and I’m excited for this next chapter.”

Saweetie has had success with songs including “Back to the Streets” featuring Jhene Aiko and “Best Friend” with Doja Cat.

However, in December (20) she lashed out at her label, accusing WBR of releasing “Best Friend” “prematurely.”

“I am extremely disappointed in my label WBR for prematurely releasing a single I was so excited about,” she wrote at the time. “I feel disrespected. I’m hands on with ALL of my creative & had such a dope rollout for “best friends.” The thirst for clout & $ is real & it overrides the artists’ art (sic).”

In the clip, the pair are seen diving off a cliff naked, having a slumber party, and driving a bedazzled Tesla.

Meanwhile, Doja has been teasing her new era on social media and hinted at a project called “Planet Her”.
The “Say So” hitmaker also suggested she has teamed up with the likes of Megan Thee Stallion and SZA on new music.
Doja is only following eight people on Twitter, the above artists, herself, and Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Young Thug, French Montana, and ASAP Ferg.
Appearing to tease collaborations, she cryptically wrote, “Following them for a reeeeaaaaasssoooonnn 😉 Guess why. (sic)”
The release of Doja Cat’s collaboration with Saweetie, however, was not without drama.
Last month, Saweetie slammed her label for prematurely releasing the song without her consent. “The wrong version at that smh. Like wtf???” she tweeted.
“I feel disrespected,” she wrote. “We put so much work into the visual & we shot for days for this super cinematic girl anthem. And for this to happen? wow….”

Saweetie Accuses Label of Clout Chasing After 'Prematurely' Releasing Doja Cat Collab

    Instagram

The 26-year-old ‘ICY GIRL’ raptress also complains about how her label WBR uploaded the incorrect version of ‘Best Friends’, her collaborative song with the ‘Say So’ hitmaker.

    Dec 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Saweetie wants her label to put more respect on her work. The 26-year-old rapper slammed her own label for uploading “Best Friends”, her collaborative song with Doja Cat, on Apple Music without her consent.
Expressing her displeasure, the “My Type” femcee took to her Twitter account on Friday, December 4 to put her label WBR on blast. “I am extremely disappointed in my label WBR for prematurely releasing a single I was so excited about,” she wrote on the blue bird app. “I feel disrespected. I’m hands on with ALL of my creative & had such a dope rollout for ‘best friends.’ The thirst for clout & $ is real & it overrides the artists’ art.”
In another tweet, Saweetie continued, “We put so much work into the visual & we shot for days for this super cinematic girl anthem. And for this to happen? wow….” She also revealed in a follow-up tweet that they uploaded the incorrect version, saying, “The wrong version at that smh. Like wtf???”

Saweetie slammed her label for releasing Doja Cat collab song early.

Fans immediately rallied behind her and sent support to the femcee following her posts. “#weloveyousaweetie: I love you so much baby. I will always support you through thick and thin. You helped me get out of my depression stage. Just watching you work so hard everyday to reach your goals is amazing. We will get through this together. Love you so much,” one fan wrote to Saweetie.
The sweet post didn’t go unnoticed by the “ICY GIRL” raptress. In response to that, she told the fan, “wow. this means so much thank you girl.”
The support didn’t stop there as another fan replied to Saweetie, “we will still listen and love it!!! we got your back, we will wait for your time.” Showing sympathy to her, someone else added, “it looks like all labels just want the money, don’t give a f**k to the art and the artist… i feel so bad for what happened to you. i will be here for you okay? i love you to the moon and back.”
However, Brian “Z” Zisook, vice president of content operations at Audiomack, claimed that Saweetie’s label wasn’t the one to be blamed for the early release. “FWIW: Warner did not officially release this record. We were notified 8 hours ago by the label that it is being delayed until January. Very odd situation,” Z wrote on Twitter.
WBR has yet to respond to Saweetie’s claims.

  • Artist of the Week: Saweetie

The ‘ICY GRL’ femcee makes a comeback after a yearlong hiatus as she shows off her no-nonsense, no-pretense, unapologetic brilliance with latest summer banger ‘Tap In’.
    Aug 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Saweetie makes a chart return while having a blast with her party following a yearlong hiatus. After blowing up with the infectious “ICY GRL” and irresistible “My Type”, she is now invading the internet and climbing up the charts with another summer banger “Tap In”.
The 26-year-old star did what she does best, putting a new twist on a classic hip-hop track. This time, she samples Too Short’s “Blow the Whistle” for her latest party anthem. It carries unapologetic lyrics about bagging the rich, kissing off the haters, and disdaining the clout chasers.
The “High Maintenance” female rapper said, “My specialty is able to have an ear for a beat that would sound good if I flipped it or if I sampled it. Hip-hop is built on samples.” She successfully appeals to both audiences, catering to radio without ignoring the current trend on the internet.
The Dr. Dre production quickly becomes a new favorite on social media including the wildly popular TikTok while hitting the pinnacle of Billboard U.S. Triller for the second consecutive week with over 8.8 million streams after initially debuting at the second place.
It continues to rise domestically and globally, reaching the top 10 on Rhythmic Radio and No. 3 on Urban Radio as it receives an extra boost from the current popular hip-hop names like Post Malone, DaBaby, and Jack Harlow who join the fun for the all-star remix.
The song is also nominated for Song of Summer at the MTV Video Music Awards. It’s pitted against “WAP” (Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion), “Watermelon Sugar” (Harry Styles), “Say So” (Doja Cat), “Blinding Lights” (The Weeknd), “Cardigan” (Taylor Swift), and more.
“Tap In” is expected to be listed in Saweetie’s upcoming debut studio album “Pretty B*tch Music”. While the femcee has been recording a lot following her two previous hit singles and is aware that a full-length studio album is long overdue, she didn’t rush the project.
To make sure her first LP is something that she’s proud of, she even took a time out to develop her musical artistry. “I’ve been gone for a year, but I really had to focus on my artist development because that was something that I was struggling with. So I took a year to myself to really figure out what is my next move,” so she explained.
