Carrie Underwood is ‘Drinking Alone’, Miranda Lambert sings from her wedding site, while Brad Paisley and Darius Rucker team up for a rendition of ‘Wagon Wheel’ and pay tribute to the late Kenny Rogers.
    Apr 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Country music stars have joined forces to entertain their fans as they continue to stay at home amid the coronavirus crisis. On Sunday, April 5, the likes of Shania Twain, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani took part in “ACM Presents: Our Country”, which aired in place of the now-postponed 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards.
Luke kicked off the show with an uplifting performance of “Most People Are Good” from his comfy couch. Dressed in a white button-down shirt, he played acoustic guitar as he crooned the optimistic lyrics, “I believe this world ain’t half as bad as it looks/ I believe most people are good.”

Shania, meanwhile, serenaded her horses as she took the camera into her stable for her performances of “Honey I’m Home” and one of her hits “Man! I Feel Like a Woman”. At one point, her horse got a little too attentive, rubbing against her face and licking her strings as she was singing. Being a professional as she is, the 54-year-old kept singing while smiling.
Miranda, on the other hand, was surrounded by serenity as she sang from her farm in Tennessee. I actually got married right here, she said of the place. Miranda sat on her porch while delivering a rendition of “Bluebird” and playing her guitar.
Brad Paisley and Darius Rucker connected via FaceTime for a duet of “Wagon Wheel”. Brad was seated on his truck bed with an acoustic guitar while Darius sang from his front porch in Charleston, S.C. They also paid tribute to the late Kenny Rogers, who passed away in March, with a cover of “Lucille” and “The Gambler”. Earlier, Brad belted out his feel-good song “Mud On the Tires”.

Carrie aptly sang her song “Drinking Alone” as she talked about surviving while in home quarantine. “Now we have to find things to do when we’re alone together,” she said from her living room. “We’re not really alone. We are alone together, and this is exactly how we’re going to get through this mess.”

Lady Antebellum was not alone as the members enlisted their children while socially distancing at their respective homes. Dedicating their single “What I’m Leaving For” to the doctors, nurses, first responders and everyone in the medical field on the frontlines of the coronavirus, they were joined by their kids to deliver the poignant ballad. Charles Kelley sang with his son Ward on his lap, Dave Haywood’s son Cash sat behind his guitar before the boy stole the show by making some funny faces in front of the cameras.
Blake and Gwen, who are quarantining together, delivered their duet “Nobody But You” from their home in Oklahoma. “We’re happy to be in Oklahoma hiding away … drinking all day,” Blake jokingly said as he gave an update of their live while in self-isolation.
Keith Urban sang “Wasted Time”, which he said has taken on a different meaning in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, Thomas Rhett sang his new song “Be a Light”, which lyrics deliver a message of togetherness, while Kane Brown and John Legend joined forces for a television debut of their new duet “Last Time I Say Sorry”.

Shania Twain 'Very Proud' of Brad Pitt Despite Iconic Lyrics in 'That Don't Impress Me Much'

    WENN/Avalon/Adriana M. Barraza

Speaking of her 1997 hit song that is still so popular more than 20 years after its release, the ‘You’re Still the One’ singer admits, ‘I didn’t realize it would go this far or be memorable.’
    Mar 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Shania Twain has reversed her view of Brad Pitt, after famously singing the actor didn’t “impress” her “much.”
Back in 1997, the Canadian star dropped her massive hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much”, which included the lyric, “Okay, so you’re Brad Pitt – that don’t impress me much!”
However, Shania, now 54, has had time to re-think the line, and she told Britain’s The Daily Telegraph she is now a huge fan of the 56-year-old Oscar winner.
“I must say I’m very impressed by Brad’s wonderful career,” she gushed, praising his role in director Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” which earned Pitt the gong last month (February).
“He’s been getting some great accolades recently, so I’m very proud of Brad,” Shania added. “I hope he takes it (old lyric) with the sense of humour that was intended.”
The “Up!” singer added she’s amazed her old hit is still so popular more than 20 years after its release, telling the publication: “I like to write with a sense of humour… I didn’t realise it would go this far or be memorable. I’m thrilled that reference has lasted the test of time.”

Asked to come up with a line-up for a potential reboot of the charity gig, the ‘You’re Still the One’ hitmaker additionally names Ariana Grande and Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks.
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Country star Shania Twain would love to curate a new VH1 Divas Live concert with Jennifer Lopez and Lizzo leading the line-up.
The “You’re Still the One” hitmaker famously helped to launch the first annual event back in 1998, taking to the stage in New York City alongside Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Gloria Estefan, with Carole King making a special guest appearance.
The charity gig, which benefitted the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, was held with a new slate of performers each year until 2004, after which it was revived in 2009 for a four-year run, and again for a show in 2016.
Shania is eager to see the show make another return to the spotlight, and this time around, she would want superstar J.Lo front and center.
Asked to come up with her dream billing for a potential reboot, the singer told U.S. daytime show “Strahan, Sara and Keke”, “Jennifer Lopez would be top of my list.”
Shania would also jump at the chance to have Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks join the party, branding her “probably one of the greatest storytellers, singer/songwriters ever,” and she would round out the performers with Ariana Grande and Lizzo.
“I would want Ariana Grande. I think she’s an amazing diva in the best way,” she gushed, before adding of Lizzo, “(The) newest on the scene, she’s a powerhouse.”

“That would be a great collection of ladies, don’t you think?” she smiled.

Shania Twain Adding Oscar Win to Her Bucket List

    WENN

The ‘Still the One’ hitmaker is addicted to acting after making her movie debut in 2019 and hopes to win an Academy Award as she’s gearing up for her new film.
    Feb 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Country music superstar Shania Twain has added an Oscar win to her bucket list after falling in love with her new acting career.
The “Still the One” hitmaker made her big screen debut opposite John Travolta in 2019 action film “Trading Paint”, and has now teamed up with Gary Sinise for upcoming movie, “I Still Believe”, in which she portrays the mother of Christian musician Jeremy Camp.
Working alongside the two Hollywood veterans proved to be valuable masterclasses for Shania, who credits the stars for helping to bring out her acting talent.
“They are both so experienced as actors, and they influenced me a lot. I learned a lot from them,” she tells syndicated columnist Allison Kugel. “They were kind and very helpful and made me feel very much at ease, and I just loved being on the set.”
“John Travolta made me feel very comfortable, and a film set is somewhere I feel I belong. It comes to me very naturally. I have no nerves about it or anything like that.”
The singer-turned-actress admits she had never harboured onscreen dreams before tackling Trading Paint, and now she is hooked.
“I really would love to do more on film, so it sparked an interest I didn’t realise I had,” she explains. “It’s a newfound joy in my life where I can be creative and step out of myself like no other element in my career.”
And Shania is so determined to build up her acting resume, she is hoping it will one day lead to a big win at the Academy Awards.
She smiles, “It would be fun to get an Oscar… That would be a bucket list thing, of course! Why not? I would definitely add an Oscar to my bucket list.”
