Love Islander set to rake in millions post-show whilst others going back to day jobs

EXCLUSIVE: Love Island 2025 has officially wrapped and some Islanders are set to land million-pound deals, while others are quietly slipping back to their day jobs13:17, 05 Aug 2025Updated 13:19, 05 Aug 2025Love Island Series 12 has wrapped(Image: ITV)As the sun sets on the 2025 series of Love Island, life after the villa begins and it could look very different for some of the ITV contestants. While some stars could rake in multi-million-pound brand deals, others are quietly returning to their day jobs, and will likely slip back into real life without the glittering promise of fame.PR specialist Rich Wilson spoke exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with casino.co.uk and shared his post-villa Islander predictions as he highlighted who is likely to soar to the top.In regards to who could land the next fast fashion/make-up deal, his money is on part-time Disney princess Shakira Khan. He said: “This is always a highly-coveted role from the Love Island cast, and although rumours have surfaced in past years that the ambassador is pre-picked, it’s a far more likely scenario that huge, well-known brands bide their time as the show progresses before picking ambassadors.“Although PLT don’t collaborate generally with Love Island stars now, other brands such as Glamify, L’Oreal Paris and EGO have in the last couple of years. The likes of Grace Jackson and Uma Jammeh have done very well in this regard in recent years, earning six-figure deals.“From the 2025 cohort, it’s easy to envisage Shakira Khan making a similar amount, whether through fashion deals or other avenues. She had quite the journey on the show, originally being paired with Harry Cooksey, before he ended things to reunite with Helena Ford.“Shakira won fans over with her personality, looks and enjoyed heart-warming moments in the final week, as she and Harry eventually reunited just before the final.“Elsewhere, the previously discussed Helena, brutally dumped a day before the Love Island final, would be a popular choice amongst fans, with that scene and sympathy towards her still fresh in the memory of fans.”Cach would be great as a podcast host(Image: ITV)But when it comes to the world of podcasting, which many Islanders have turned their talents to post-show, expert Rich thinks winner Cach Mercer would be a great choice. The expert explained why and said: “A big, likeable personality is needed for this, as we’ve seen with the work of Olivia Attwood in recent years, and someone like Cach could be perfect as a future podcaster or presenter.“Funny, charismatic and full of charm, Cach is one of the most-liked Love Island contestants in recent history. Even regardless of his status as a ‘winner’ of the show, the East Londoner would have likely found success after Love Island.“It’s easy to imagine him hosting his own podcast or perhaps hosting/judging his own dance show on the likes of ITV, given his background as a professional dancer. The Strictly audience might not be quite his stage yet, but that’s the kind of prime-time show which could lie in wait for Cach.”Toni could soar to huge fame(Image: ITV)But who could become the most famous out of the 2025 bunch? According to our expert, fellow winner and Las Vegas party girl Toni Laites. He shared: “Cach’s partner Toni could emerge as the most famous contestant from the 2025 edition of Love Island.“A pool server in Las Vegas, brash and full of energy, Toni and Cach’s relationship is one of the most popular in recent years of Love Island, but she very much brought her own personality to the show.“From calling series villain Harrison ‘a pussy’, to calling out some of the bombshells, the American was unapologetically herself throughout.“It’s very easy to see her as a new regular on our TV screens, and Toni could earn millions through brand partnerships, TV hosting and social partnerships.”Dejon will likely go back to his day job(Image: ITV/Shutterstock)However, just like every year, there will be some contestants who don’t break into the showbiz industry and inevitably go back to their old way of life before fame.PR pro Rich commented: “A few Love Islanders (including 24 hour turnaround contestant Ryan Bannister) are already reportedly back at the day jobs.“Ben Holbrough and Andrada Pop split not long after leaving the Villa. He struggled for a long time to form any meaningful connections with anyone on the show, despite being one of ‘the OGs’, and never really looked to be in love with the TV lifestyle.“Many thought that Dejon Noel-Williams was lucky to still be with Meg towards the end, given his flirtatious actions towards other girls in the villa; it can be difficult to pick up TV work if you’re deeply unpopular with the fans.“He works as a Personal Trainer in London, and it’s very easy to see him going back down that route.”Have you joined Threads? Jo Whiley had ‘horrible’ interview with music legends who made her feel ‘tiny and stupid’

Radio 2 legend Jo Whiley has revealed she had an extremely unpleasant experience interviewing two huge music stars, and that fame had changed one into another “creature”12:04, 05 Aug 2025Jo Whiley said she had a “horrible” interview with Eminem and Dr Dre(Image: Getty Images)Jo Whiley said she was made to feel “tiny” and “stupid” by two music legends in a “horrible” interview. The broadcasting legend who hosts her own Radio 2 evening show has interviewed tons of stars over the years. The radio DJ fronted her long-running Jo Whiley Show on Radio 1 before moving to Radio 2 in 2011.Sadly, not all of her high-profile interviews have been good, as she’s told fellow radio host Zoe Ball that she had a “horrible” interview with rap legends Eminem and Dr Dre. She opened up about the toe-curling chat on their Dig It podcast when asked if she had ever been star-struck during an interview. She said: “I remember interviewing Eminem and Dr Dre one time and that was horrible. I’d interviewed Eminem when he was very young and he was very shy and polite. She said the two rap legends made her feel “tiny and stupid”(Image: Getty Images for The Rock and Ro)”He kept calling me ‘ma’am’ all the time and he was really, really sweet and humble. Then a couple of years later he came back on the show but with Dr Dre and the fame had happened and he was just this other creature altogether.”They were just so playful with me – and can I just say they made me feel so tiny and so stupid.” The mum-of-five admitted that the interview was overall “a really unpleasant experience” as she and Zoe chatted about being star-struck by the rich and famous.Jo recently insisted she is choosing not to slow down after hitting 60 last month – and reckons big birthdays are “not a big deal”. On turning 60 in July, she told Woman and Home: “Another birthday really isn’t a big deal for me because I don’t see age as important.Jo opened up about the “unpleasant” experience on her Dig It podcast with fellow radio star Zoe Ball(Image: Dig It podcast)”It’s something that you very much don’t want to be a thing, but it becomes a thing because everybody focuses on it and asks you about it constantly.”It’s a bizarre situation to be in because I’m only another year older than I was last year, and a year younger than I will be next year. There’s an obsession with reaching certain milestones due to your age. People focus on it too much.”She has admitted she had been plagued with anxiety at the height of her DJing career in the 90s. She told Woman’s Health: “I remember doing one gig and I was just so scared, I thought I can’t go on like this. This is ridiculous.”It’s ruining my life because I’m just such a ball of anxiety. But then I realised how happy it was making people when I do these gigs and that was a game changer.”Now 60, Jo is still one of the most sought after DJs in the industry and insisted her milestone birthday, which she celebrated last month, is just the same as any other.Have you joined Threads? Calvin Harris shocks fans with placenta photo as wife Vick Hope gives birth

WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: DJ Calvin Harris praised his “superhero” wife Vick Hope after she gave birth to their son Micah at their home, but the music star divided fans with a pic of the placenta10:54, 05 Aug 2025Calvin Harris and wife Vick Hope welcomed baby boy Micah on July 20(Image: @calvinharris/Instagram)Calvin Harris left fans gobsmacked by sharing a photo of the placenta after announcing the birth of his baby boy.The Scottish DJ is married to Radio 1 star Vick Hope and they announced they were expecting their first child earlier this year. She welcomed their baby boy, Micah, by water birth at their home in Ibiza on July 20 after flying there for her maternity leave.Calvin told his 11 million followers on Instagram that he was “so grateful” for Micah’s arrival. However, he shocked some fans by including a photo of Vick’s placenta in his baby announcement post – the organ in the graphic pic was being dried and turned into pills, which is believed by some to offer postpartum benefits. He captioned the post: “20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.”The DJ divided fans with a photo of Vick’s placenta(Image: @calvinharris/Instagram)Many of Calvin and Vick’s celeb pals rushed to congratulate the couple, such including singer Becky Hill who praised the decision to share a pic of the placenta. She wrote: “Amazing we grow a whole new organ to provide life! Good job not wasting it either, that’s some goddess magic right there!”Example added: “Meat Caps for the win”, and Radio 1’s Arielle Free wrote: “Welcome to the world wee Micah”. However, others were taken aback by the placenta snap on the post, which has now been tagged with an age restriction by Instagram. He gushed over “superhero” Vick after she gave birth at their Ibiza property(Image: @calvinharris/Instagram)”A disclaimer about the placenta would’ve been nice tho!,” wrote one. Another admitted: “Nothing prepared me for the placenta pic ! [laughing emoji]”, and a third said: “Placenta and placenta pills were not on my bingo card for today but OK.”The other pics in the post saw Calvin was embracing Vick in the water pool shortly after she gave birth. He also showed fans a first photo of baby Micah in a sweet moment where he held the tot to his chest. They decided to turn the placenta into pills(Image: @calvinharris/Instagram)Some parents decide to get the placenta dehydrated and turned into tables through a process called encapsulation. Some claim it has health benefits for new mothers, including that it helps prevent postpartum depression. However, in a review of 10 scientific studies carried out in 2015 found no data to support the suggestion that consuming the placenta had any health benefits. The placenta is an organ produced in the womb during pregnancy that provides a foetus with oxygen and nutrients.Calvin and Vick tied the knot in 2023(Image: Jed Cullen/Dave Benett/Getty Ima)Vick revealed that she and Calvin were expecting their first child together during a live Radio 1 broadcast. The presenter, who co-hosts the station’s drivetime programme alongside Katie Thistleton and Jamie Laing, told listeners: “I should say that this is my final week.Article continues below”I wanted to share that with you because we’ve had such a lovely time over the last few weeks. Singer Conor Maynard has opened up about the devastating health battle that’s stopped him releasing new music and forced him to step away from public life in recent months10:00, 05 Aug 2025Conor Maynard has been struck down by back issues(Image: Ken McKay/ITV/Shutterstock)Conor Maynard was rushed to hospital due to a nasty health battle. The 32-year-old pop star was hospitalised back in February after falling down stairs at his home. The star has now revealed that he’s been forced to step away from public life in the last few months due to debilitating issues with his back.He took to Instagram with a series of snaps and explained how his back issues have left him “screaming in pain” and unable to promote his new music. The singer, who confirmed he was not the father of The Traitors star Charlotte Chiltern’s child, said he has a bulging disk in his back.He wrote: “So I thought I’d explain why I’ve been pretty quiet over the last few months, and why I realised one song in May and then seemingly disappeared when the original plan was to post a string of songs for you guys. The singer was taken to hospital due to the nasty health battle(Image: @conormaynard /Instagram)”I posted earlier this year that I was experiencing issues with my back, and it has been quite the journey.” He explained that he had visited a chiropractor but the issue didn’t go away.Unfortunately, the pain in his back grew so “intense” that he was “screaming in pain”. He continued: “Then I lost all the colour in my face which made my girlfriend panic so we called an ambulance and I was taken to hospital. He shared a snap with a cannula in his hand(Image: @conormaynard /Instagram)”The annoying thing about this kind of injury is that there isn’t much that can be done immediately other than try to manage the pain, and then make more long term recovery attempts.” He revealed he may have to have surgery as it seems it’s the only way to fix the issue.”Right now it’s looking like surgery is the only option but obviously that’s kind of scary. It really has affected by life in so many ways.”Conor, who is in a relationship with Kitty Bertrand, added: “Filming music content is nearly impossible as I can’t lift or move any of my lights, even holding a camera up is too heavy. He told fans he had a “long” road to recovery ahead of him but is hoping to release new music as soon as he can.Conor with girlfriend Kitty(Image: @conormaynard /Instagram)Conor revealed his accident on the stairs back in February. He posted clips showing him on a stretcher sporting a head and neck brace, captioned ‘Sunday funday’, followed by footage of his ride with the paramedics.Later in the day, he reassured fans with an update, saying: “I’m doing ok guys. You’re not allowed to laugh…. but I fell down the stairs. But nothing too serious, you can all breathe now.”He’s also opened up about struggling with anxiety. In December last year, Conor sought advice on taking the prescription medication Diazepam, commonly used to treat anxiety disorders, insomnia, seizures, and withdrawal symptoms.Article continues belowHe shared his concerns in a post, asking: “Has anyone on here ever been prescribed Diazepam, but their anxiety is so bad that they’re literally too anxious to actually take it? Please reach out it you’ve ever been in this position. Can’t believe I’m posting this, but at this point, I’m not sure what else to do. Sorry I haven’t posted anything in over a month. Model Chloe Ayling’s heartbreaking question over ‘unbelievable’ kidnap ordeal

Eight years on from her harrowing ordeal, Chloe Ayling, who was kidnapped by Lukasz Herba, has asked what makes her story ‘so unbelievable’ in a new BBC documentary05:44, 05 Aug 2025A documentary last night explored the kidnapping of Chloe Ayling(Image: CREDIT LINE:BBC)A British model who was abducted has questioned why her story was deemed “so unbelievable” in a moving documentary aired last night.Looking straight into the lens, Chloe Ayling queried: “What is it about me and my story that makes this so unbelievable?” at the outset of the BBC programme Chloe Ayling: My Unbelievable Kidnapping. She posed the question as the documentary later revealed that people still doubt her account – eight years on.This scepticism persists despite the incarceration of Lukasz Herba, a 30 year old Polish computer programmer from Oldbury, West Midlands, who drugged, kidnapped and transported Chloe 120 miles to a secluded farmhouse near Turin, where she was held captive for a week.READ MORE: Couple left ‘absolutely traumatised’ after stopping for romantic photo goes horribly wrongThe mum, from south London, was chained to furniture in a shocking kidnap(Image: CREDIT LINE:BBC)The programme underscored how Chloe, then just 20, was dismissed as a gold-digger seeking fame. She was persuaded by her agent to travel to Milan for a modelling gig, but this turned out to be a sham and a trap set by Herba to ensnare Chloe.Herba was ready to snatch the glamour model from behind and stuff her into a suitcase. Drugged with ketamine and chained to furniture, she was made to sleep on the floor of a remote farmhouse, reports the Mirror.Photos of her lying unconscious in scanty attire were sent to her manager in London, along with a demand for €300,000 (£260,000). If the ransom wasn’t paid within a week, she would be sold off as a sex slave.Despite her eventual release, Chloe faced a further struggle to rebuild her life as many doubted her harrowing account. Reflecting on her childhood in the documentary, 28 year old Chloe said: “I had a lot of difficulties with communication… I’d react in the wrong way. If I was being told off I would smile. I just had the wrong reactions to things.”Article continues belowThe model, hailing from Croydon, south London, revealed that she has since been diagnosed with autism, something she believes sheds light on not only her responses during her kidnapping ordeal, but also her life before and after. In last night’s TV programme, the mum added: “Autism plays a big part in the way that I reacted, and that was confusing to neurotypical people… People disassociate with events that have happened or have a delayed reaction, especially after trauma. So, it can’t all be put down to a diagnosis, and that shouldn’t affect the way people treated me.”For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.
