Reflecting on the challenge, the contestant said: “The most interesting thing about doing Celebrity MasterChef, or indeed The Chase, is you are so far out of your comfort zone.”I am used to sitting in recording studios making music, behind the decks, or presenting on radio, those are things I have done for a long time and feel incredibly comfortable with. But the minute you are in a TV studio, it is a whole different experience. The way TV is made is disjointed, everything happens in bits, and having a studio audience does not make life any easier.” Judge Jules on the show in 2019(Image: BBC/Shine TV)When asked to compare both shows, he noted that while the cooking show did not have an audience, the pressure was still intense. “The presenters were fine with me, I have got to say,” he explained as he gave his verdict on Gregg and John Torode.“But there is a bigger picture at play. Both shows have considerable time pressure when you are doing things you are not familiar with. You really feel it when you are outside your comfort zone.”He was pushed out of his comfort zone(Image: BBC/Shine TV)Having a famous relative in the culinary world did not make the challenge any easier. “My uncle is Rick Stein, and I had worked in a kitchen when I was younger, so it was not totally alien to me. However, I made the critical mistake of not focusing enough on the presentation of my food. In modern cooking, how your dish looks can be as important, if not more important, than the taste. I kind of forgot about that, which in retrospect, was pretty dumb.”Despite the nerves and pressure, the contestant praised the experience for helping him grow both personally and professionally. “It is one thing to be comfortable in your usual environment, but when you are forced to adapt, think on your feet, and manage time under scrutiny, you learn a lot about yourself,” he reflected. He talked about his proudest moments(Image: nickculley.com)The DJ says he still appreciates being lucky enough to still be performing after four decades in the game and would love for fans to come check out his upcoming shows below.SATURDAY 30 AUGUST – Café Mambo on the Beach, Weston-super-mare, UKSATURDAY 6 SEPTEMBER – Pub in the Park 2025, Verulamium Park, St. Albans, UKSATURDAY 6 SEPTEMBER – Reminisce Festival, Sherdley Park, St Helens.SATURDAY 13 SEPTEMBER – Judge Jules Live, Cross Keys Festival, PulloxhillSATURDAY 20 SEPTEMBER – Peach, Koko, London, UKFRIDAY 26 SEPTEMBER – Judge Jules Live, Back to the 00s Weekender, Butlins, Skegness, UKArticle continues belowSATURDAY 4 OCTOBER – North East Old Skool presents North & South, Odd Mollies, DroghedaTUESDAY 7 OCTOBER – Ibiza Rocks Bar, IbizaWant all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox?
