Ozzy Osbourne’s final months were reported to be filmed for a new BBC documentary that he was working on before his death with his son Jack co-producing the biopic10:03, 26 Jul 2025Updated 10:05, 26 Jul 2025The Osbourne family is known for paving the way for reality TV, and it’s now been revealed that a new documentary was being filmed during Ozzy Osbourne’s final months. The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 76, surrounded by his loved ones. His wife Sharon and four children released a joint statement, saying: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”He was with his family and surrounded by love. The series was initially intended to follow Ozzy and Sharon as they returned to their Buckinghamshire home after 20 years in the US.However, it’s now being reworked as a tribute to the rock star, reports the Mirror.According to Jack, the documentary will focus on Ozzy’s time with Black Sabbath and the early 1980s. “Right now it’ll take place over the Sabbath era and early 1980s. We’re definitely going for a more adult rating for the film,” he told the Mail’s Weekend Magazine.”This is by no means going to be a fluff piece.”The Osbournes were once the most famous family on TV(Image: Getty Images)Jack co-produced the biopic, which promises to showcase the chaos and mayhem that Ozzy was known for, as well as the love story between Ozzy and Sharon, which began in the 1970s. Ozzy Osbourne’s youngest son, Jack, revealed that his late father was working on an autobiography titled “Last Rites” before his passing. The book is slated for release this autumn. In the weeks leading up to his death, Ozzy took to the stage one final time in his hometown of Birmingham, joining forces with his Black Sabbath bandmates at Villa Park. Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood admits ‘cancel culture doesn’t bother me’

EXCLUSIVE: Strictly Come Dancing legend Craig Revel Horwood has revealed the truth behind his strict judging style on the BBC show, and why “harsh with fair” is the way forward10:00, 26 Jul 2025Craig Revel Horwood says being “harsh” and “fair” is the best way to judge the celebs on Strictly(Image: PA)Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood isn’t scared of getting cancelled. He’s Strictly’s longest-serving judge, having been on the panel of the BBC One hit since 2004. After 20 years on the show, he’s become famed for his brutally honest judging style and the ballroom king believes being “harsh” and “fair” is the way forward.Craig, who has teamed up with Fox’s Fabulous Chocolatey on their new Dubai Style pistachio biscuits, wants the celebs to know that Strictly it not going to be an “easy ride” and being too nice would be a “disservice” to them. He has now revealed the truth behind his strict judging style – and why he learned it from his own dance teachers. He told Daily Star: “I certainly have to comment professionally on the dancing that I see, and what I try and do is give them the what’s gone wrong and the reason it’s gone wrong and how to fix it, because then they’re going to come back the following week well informed. And there’s nothing worse than misinformation. The ballroom maestro has been judging on Strictly since 2004(Image: BBC/Guy Levy)”You know, my teachers always say, ‘Craig, your arms need sorting out. They are flailing. They are not in the right place. They’re not the right time. You need to sort that out’. I’ve got a lot of criticism about that, and had to work hard to make them better, you know.He continued: “So for me, if my teachers hadn’t have been honest with me and being down to earth and said, ‘Okay, this is going wrong, and this is why it’s going on, but this is how you fix it’, you know. If you don’t do that, and if you’re sort of beating around the bush and lying to people, you know, saying, Oh, you’re really great when you’re not, I think is a disservice to that person.”So for me, the first thing I do is always begin with what’s going wrong and negative, and then I’ll always try and back it up with a little bit of positive. I mean, I never used to do that, because it wasn’t ever any time, but now they may given the judges a little bit more speaking time, and I’m able to say, ‘Okay, well, this is the negative situation that can be fixed, but it needs hard work.Craig said he’s not afraid of “cancel culture” and thinks being too nice with his Strictly feedback would be a “disservice” to the celebs(Image: BBC)”This is the positive of getting you through to the next thing you know, or this you did very well. So you don’t need to worry about that side of it, but you do need to fix this’.”The Strictly legend also feels he needs to speak for the fans watching at home. “I think it’s important for people at home that I speak for them as well. You know, I’m not, not a sycophant. I’m direct, because I was over in Australia, and I think a lot of people from Australia are very direct, and that can sound harsh sometimes, but I think being harsh with fair is like the way forward.Admitting he’s not scared of cancel culture, he continued: “I guess the cancel culture doesn’t bother me in that way, because I’m always speaking honestly about what I’m saying and and then I challenge anyone to challenge me on the decisions I make, because I will have a backup for it. There’s a reason I speak like that. It’s because that’s what I see before me for one minute 30 [seconds] and I try and speak in layman’s terms for the nation, because they have a voice.Craig with fellow judges Anton du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas(Image: BBC/Guy Levy)”At the time, I’m the judge up there, and I’m hoping to always speak honestly for people at home, as well as the contestants, you know, I think it’s really important that they know that dance isn’t easy and it’s not going to be an easy ride. And as soon as you think it’s going to be an easy ride, you’re failing.”Craig said it’s “ludicrous” for anyone to expect 10s in the first week and that it’s “virtually impossible” to reach the level of dancing ability that the professions have in just a matter of weeks. “You have to understand that it’s taken all those professional dancers 10 years of training to reach the level that they’re at,” he said.”To do that in three weeks is virtually impossible, you know. But there’s always, it’s never going to be perfect, is what I’m saying, you know. And to expect 10s in the first week is ludicrous.”Craig said Strictly’s latest series will have some “exciting” format changes (Image: PA)Craig also revealed that there will be some “exciting” changes to the show’s format when it returns later this year. “There’s a few little format changes coming up that are going to be really exciting,” he said. “I can’t wait for that, something new to look forward to with the new series as well. And we’ve got a big surprise in store for the launch show. He added: “There’s going to be a big old judges number to begin with for the launch show, which I’m looking forward to doing, and completely different to anything we’ve done before, which will be equally good.”Discussing his campaign with Fox’s Fabulous Chocolatey, he said: “I certainly won’t promote anything that I don’t enjoy myself. So I tried the biscuits before I said yes, and they’re absolutely gorgeous. And I thought, yeah, I could do this. They’re indulgent. They’re luxurious. I love them, and they’ve got like a little pistachio cream inside them, which is absolutely delicious, one of my favorite nuts, actually.”I think we all need time out for ourselves, you know. And I think we forget about ourselves in a busy life, and particularly my life is like ridiculously busy. You know, just finished a one man show, which was sort of a daily occurrence. You know, work seven days a week, and you forget, actually, to take time out for yourself.”This is just a way of having, you know, 15 minutes to yourself over a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits, which is what normal people do. But I don’t know that the whole campaign is to take you away from your present life. So the campaign was really based on the biscuits, sort of giving you a whole new lease of life. You feel like you’re in Dubai eating the most expensive chocolate. This was an affordable way to indulge.”Craig Revel Horwood has teamed up with Fox’s Fabulous Chocolatey on their latest launch, the first Dubai Style cream-filled chocolate biscuits to launch in major supermarkets – bringing a taste of Middle Eastern luxury to supermarket aisles at just £2.65Have you joined Threads? On the contrary, I’m grateful for [my] life. My giant boobs and my body opened doors for me; they were my passport to the world when I was 20 years old, when I started as a model, but today I’m 51-years-old and I’m still here.”The now 53-year-old added: “I am not afraid of [taking a] risk, I work harder than anyone, I have the personality, I have always been aware of what was outside and I have not been afraid. ‘I spotted 80s pop icons on my flight and their reaction to one question floored me’

A simple trip abroad turned into a birthday surprise to remember for one writer, who was only a baby when this group first stormed the charts08:00, 26 Jul 2025Ravi Meah meeting Level 42, who were headlining a Dutch music festival(Image: Ravi Meah)I’m jetting off to Amsterdam for a solo birthday getaway after what’s been an absolutely gruelling few weeks at work. A break in the land of tulips, cheese and four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen is just the tonic I need.Little did I know that while chasing some Dutch fun, I’d end up with the most incredible birthday shock mid-flight. We’d barely left the tarmac at Heathrow when a cabin crew member approached asking about refreshments and nibbles.”Surprise me,” I said back, prompting her to reel off the usual items on the menu. Feeling rather daring, I went for my favourite tipple.”Oooh, I’ll have a gin and tonic, please. I feel great,” I declared with buzzing excitement. You only live once, as the saying goes. The delightful stewardess then presented me with a plastic beaker, some Fever-Tree tonic water and two miniature bottles of gin. That’s when something rather peculiar occurred – a slim and well-groomed chap sporting chunky black noise-cancelling headphones in the seat ahead swivelled round towards me, his face absolutely beaming after overhearing my drink order.Another gent, kitted out in a dark jacket with perfectly styled hair, was seated beside me and quipped: “Ooh, that’s a great choice!” I shot back: “I’m on holiday, mate. It’s a great time to have fun.”But to this millennial’s utter amazement, I’d clocked exactly who these gentlemen were. They weren’t just any ordinary passengers – they were members of one of Britain’s most legendary pop groups, heading to a show in the Netherlands. And here I am, sharing the very same aircraft with them.Mike Lindup and Mark King (middle two) remain the only two constant members of Level 42(Image: Lynn Goldsmith/Corbis/VCG via Getty Images)Level 42 stood among the globe’s most colossal bands during the 1980s, their polished, sophisticated and extraordinary tracks – a fusion of pop, rock and jazz funk – becoming the era’s defining sound. The group shifted more than 31 million records during their heyday and notched up six top 10 smashes throughout the 1980s.This year marks a special milestone as the band commemorates 40 years since the launch of their most triumphant album, World Machine, with a UK and European tour. Ten dates, including their mammoth show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 22, have already sold out.The man who grinned back at my beverage selection was Mike Lindup, the band’s keyboard wizard and veteran member. Beside him sat Mark King, the bassist and founding member, sporting a black T-shirt and radiating youthful energy as always. And the chap sitting next to me? That was Nathan King, Mark’s younger sibling and guitarist who became part of the outfit in 2001 following the original line-up’s dissolution in 1994, which had featured brothers Phil and Rowland “Boon” Gould.I was just a baby when Level 42 unleashed some of their greatest anthems, but it wasn’t until the late 1990s – when I stumbled upon and became captivated by new wave, synthpop, alternative rock and goth rock – that I encountered their musical brilliance. The timeless love ballad Something About You still resonates as poignantly today as it did back in 1985 when it soared into the top 10 charts both in the UK and the US. And let’s not overlook their 1986 hit Lessons In Love – the rest of their discography is a veritable goldmine of tunes and I’m chuffed to bits that I gave them a listen. The band were among the many British acts who cracked the US in the 80s(Image: RM Lewis Jr/NBC/NBCUniversal via Getty Images)Yet, true to form, I was beside myself with excitement when I asked Nathan a simple favour: “Do you reckon Mike and Mark would have some time for me to say hello to them? I just want to thank them for creating such great music for all these years and for sticking around to celebrate World Machine this year.”Nathan’s response left me taken aback, as he kindly replied: “Yeah, they will, mate. That’s really nice of you to say that about us.”Our conversation meandered through Nathan’s adventures with Level 42, his Dutch wife and the band’s massive fan base in the Far East. “Ah, you guys are probably bigger than Beyoncé and Katy Perry over in that part of the world,” I quipped to Nathan. The guitarist then spilled the beans on their trip to Amsterdam; they were en route to headline the Dijkpop Festival in Andijk, a quaint village 39 miles north of the Dutch capital. Even more impressive was their plan to return to the UK that very night via the overnight ferry – now that’s dedication. As our chat wound down, I realised I had a bottle of gin to spare. “Would you like it?” I offered to Nathan.”You sure? You don’t have to,” he replied. I insisted he accept it as a modest token – it’s not every day you encounter such down-to-earth stars.Nathan King only joined the group in 2001(Image: Per Ole Hagen/Redferns via Getty Images)As we prepared to land at Schiphol Airport, Nathan introduced me to Mike and then Mark. “It truly is an honour to see you both. World Machine is one of the best albums you’ve made and I’m glad you’re both still here touring,” I expressed to the pair.”Thanks very much. That means a lot to us,” responded Mark with a handshake, his appreciation evident. “It’s really nice to hear our music cutting across many generations, so thank you.”Then, the conversation turned to football. Mike is a Tottenham Hotspur fan, and I showed him a snap of another celeb I’d encountered at Heathrow earlier. The celebrity was Ange Postecoglou, the manager who was fired by Spurs despite steering them to their first trophy since 2008.”I think I shook his hand earlier today at the lounge,” Mark burst out. “I don’t think I saw him there,” confessed Mike, which took me aback considering his passion for the team. After wrapping up our sports chat, we touched down and the band kindly agreed to a selfie. We found the perfect spot in the arrivals area before parting ways. This encounter was undoubtedly the highlight of my birthday celebrations.Article continues belowSurprisingly, it seemed I was the only one on the flight who recognised them, despite the passengers being of a similar age to Level 42’s eclectic group. All I can say is that I had a cracking tale to share with my mates back home. Rubbing shoulders with Level 42 until the sun – or in this case, the plane – goes down. They often warn you not to meet your heroes, for fear of disappointment. But my recent brush with one of the most iconic 80s bands proved to be an exception in more ways than one. Or should I say, in more levels?Level 42’s World Machine 40th anniversary tour runs between September 18 and November 17. Click here for more information. More

ITV The Voice star Tom Jones reveals the exact reason he is a hit with Gen Z

Tom Jones might be 85 years old, but he’s certainly not past his prime. He still loves working with younger singers – and now you can win tickets to his shows23:39, 25 Jul 2025You could see Sir Tom in action thanks to your Daily Star(Image: Samir Hussein/WireImage)Sir Tom Jones is a hit with Gen Z thanks to The Voice.Since becoming a coach on the ITV show, he’s noticed a lot more youngsters have been going to his gigs. It’s a thrill for him to still be getting new fans after so many years in music.Tom says: “Because of The Voice, I’m getting across to a lot of people who wouldn’t normally see me. “There are a lot of kids who would have never gone to one of my gigs. But after they’ve seen me on The Voice, they want to.“It’s a winning situation.” Tom is also a big hit with young contestants who compete on the show.Tom Jones still has so many new fans(Image: NBCUniversal via Getty Images)As you’d expect, they’re desperate to get advice from him. And he’s only too happy to impart some wisdom. “I like helping singers,” he says.“When young people come up to me asking for advice, I’ll give them answers. I make time for them. I’ll talk to them and tell them what they should do to go forward.“For me it’s a very natural thing to give young singers advice. I get great reports from it. I’m getting a chance to let other singers know the way.”Getting such a big boost from The Voice has helped Tom continue to be one of the nation’s most successful singers. The Wales-born star still regularly sells out big venues and festivals. Unsurprisingly, Tom is keen on cashing in by staying on The Voice for years to come.Tom Jones on The Voice(Image: ITV)“I’ll stay as long as they want me. I really love doing it,” he admits. Tom was part of the original line-up of coaches when The Voice first launched in 2012.Since then he’s starred on 12 series of the singing contest. After doing it for so long, it doesn’t take him long to know if a contestant has star potential. He says: “You can hear if someone can sing. It’s as simple as that. “When it comes to being a star, you don’t know it until you hear it. They just need to come through with some honesty. That’s got to come across.“Once they do that, it’s like ‘wow’. You can hear it and that’s a wonderful feeling.” What makes Tom’s job easier is that all of the contestants can sing in tune.Unlike some talent shows, producers vet everyone to make sure only very talented folk get to perform for the celebrity coaches.Tom thinks The Voice is a perfect way to launch a careerTom says: “They go through auditions before they get onto the stage, so they can all sing. “That’s the big difference between The Voice and other talent shows. All these people can sing.“You won’t get somebody coming and think, ‘Argh’. The show gets rid of those people a long time ago. They don’t get through the first audition.”The Voice is watched by four million viewers. Tom reckons that makes it the perfect way to start a pop career. It’s a world away from what he had to do to get noticed in the 60s. He says: “Singing on The Voice is going in at the deep end. There are millions of people watching.“You didn’t used to get that opportunity. Years ago you’d be singing in a pub at first. You wouldn’t get on TV until you had a record.”Tom will be back as a coach on the next series of The Voice. The line-up will be different as Kelly Rowland has been hired to replace LeAnn Rimes.“It’s exciting,” says Tom. If it was the same coaches all the time, it would be boring for the viewers. And it’s nice to work with different people.”Competition timeYOU could see Sir Tom in action thanks to your Daily Star. We’re giving away tickets to his gig at Newmarket Racecourse as part of The Jockey Club Live summer season.
