Vanessa Feltz opens up on This Morning exit and says she wished she could stay

Vanessa Feltz launched her brand new daytime chat show on Channel 5 earlier this week, but she admitted in a candid interview that she would have loved to stay at the ITV programme14:51, 26 Mar 2025Vanessa Feltz ’embarrassed’ after watching video of herselfVanessa Feltz says she wishes she could have stayed at This Morning after 33 years.Television stalwart Vanessa, 63, recently took to the airwaves with her brand new self-titled chat show on Monday (March 24) to mixed reviews. It came after she bid farewell to ITV flagship show This Morning after 33 years at the show.Article continues belowWith Vanessa officially on the air on rival Channel 5, former Celebrity Big Brother star Vanessa has now broken her silence on her exit from the show. She admitted that she was already missing the show “terribly” and had secretly wished that she could continue her stint on This Morning, despite moving channels.Vanessa said that she was going to miss her family at This Morning tremendouslySpeaking to Heart Bingo, the daytime chat show host explained that the decision to leave This Morning did not come lightly. “It is emotional leaving This Morning,” she explained, “I absolutely love that show.”When I first did it in 1992, I was just 30, and I’ve been on that show all these years, and I’ve never been bored by it,” she beamed. “I think it’s a very clever show, I think it’s very warm and inviting, and I think it’s got something for everyone.”She went on to explain that the variety of items on the show such as fashion and cooking appealed to her greatly. On top of this, she beamed: “I really do consider the team and crew at This Morning my actual friends.”She joked that she would have loved to be on both ITV and Channel 5 simultaneouslyWhen asked about whether she preferred to keep her gig at This Morning, Vanessa said she would have leapt at the opportunity. She conceded that she “obviously understood” that she could be on two rival broadcasters at the same time.”But knowing me, I would have squeezed in a quick This Morning and then rushed over on the back of a bike to do my own show on Channel 5,” the star joked. “I would have been perfectly comfortable doing that, but I don’t think it’s considered best practise to go from one show to another on different channels.”Vanessa has been a staple of TV in Britain since she burst onto our screens in 1994 with her chat show, also titled Vanessa. The talk show revolved around people coming to the writer and asking questions, looking for advice – to which she gave a brutally honest answer to.It comes after the first episode of her new show failed to attract audiencesHer new venture officially launched on Monday, but viewers were less than impressed with the show on its opening day, garnering a rather dismal 83,000 viewers. For comparison, ITV daytime fave Loose Women – which was airing at the same time as Vanessa’s show – brought in a whopping 686,000 viewers, almost eight times as many viewers. However, despite the complaints that came in during the broadcast, Vanessa was unfazed, choosing instead to take the trolls head on. She sneered to one bad comment which suggested they would scoop their eyes out instead of watching her show that she would indeed send the spoon on behalf of the cast for them to carry out the plan.Article continues belowVanessa airs every weekday at 12pm on 5.For more of the latest showbiz and TV news from the Daily Star, make sure you sign up for one of our newsletters here. But, with the exception of a couple, none were nearly as enticing as they were back in the day.Article continues belowSo I can safely say, in my completely biased opnion, that my generation were treated to some total bangers when it came to intro music.Around the World with Willy Fog – a singalong classic(Image: More
