The Killers Channel Donald Trump as They React to 2021 Grammy Nomination Snub

    Instagram/WENN

The rock band fronted by Brandon Flowers poke fun at the MAGA leader as they respond to the Recording Academy after being snubbed in the 2021 nominations.

    Nov 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Killers poked fun at U.S. President Donald Trump while addressing their lack of Grammy nominations.
The rockers failed to pick up any nods for their 2020 album “Imploding the Mirage” when the nominations were announced on Tuesday (24Nov20), prompting the group to take to Twitter with a tongue-in-cheek response.
Jokingly mirroring the American leader’s unwillingness to concede the U.S. election following Joe Biden’s victory earlier this month, as well as his unfounded accusations of voter fraud, they quipped, “OBSERVERS WERE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE COUNTING ROOMS.”

“WE WON THE GRAMMYS, GOT LOADS OF LEGAL VOTES,” they added. “BAD THINGS HAPPENED WHICH OUR OBSERVERS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE. NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.”
“DOZENS OF BALLOTS WERE SENT TO PEOPLE WHO NEVER ASKED FOR THEM,” concluded The Killers, adding the hashtags “#RIGGEDGRAMMYS #WEWON.”
The “Mr. Brightside” stars weren’t the only ones left disappointed by the Grammy nominations – Canadian star The Weeknd has demanded answers after he failed to be nominated for a single prize, despite landing critical and commercial success with album “After Hours” and one of the biggest-selling songs of 2020, “Blinding Lights”.
After The Weeknd accused the Grammys’ organisers of being “corrupt,” officials responded by insisting they are “surprised” he wasn’t recognised. They also noted there are “fewer” nominations to award than there are “deserving artists.”

  • The Killers Make History With Latest No. 1 Album

    Instagram

The Brandon Flowers-fronted rock band rules U.K. Albums chart with ‘Imploding the Mirage’, becoming the only international group ever to debut at No. 1 with six consecutive albums.
    Aug 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Killers have trounced their competition in the U.K. albums chart and landed their sixth number one with “Imploding the Mirage”.
The project racked up 50,000 chart sales to outsell the rest of Friday’s (28Aug20) top five combined to reach the top spot.
“Imploding the Mirage” extends the band’s record unbroken run of number one studio albums – the rockers are now the only international group ever to have six consecutive chart-toppers from its debut.
At two is rapper Pop Smoke’s posthumous release, “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon”, ahead of Taylor Swift’s “Folklore” in third place. Synth-pop legends Erasure are at four with “The Neon”, ahead of tragic Juice WRLD’s “Legends Never Die” at five.
In the singles chart, “Head & Heart” by Joel Corry is on top for a sixth week, keeping Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s controversial hit “WAP” at two. In at three is this week’s highest new entry, K-pop superstars BTS’ first English language track, “Dynamite”.
Expressing their delight at their first-ever U.K. top five hit, BTS tell OfficialCharts.com, “We feel humbled and honoured to have earned a new personal best on the UK Official Singles Chart. First and foremost, we give all credit to ARMY (their fans) – without their support and love from Day 1, we wouldn’t have come this far.”
“Dynamite was created in the hopes of bringing some vibrant energy that the world needs right now more than ever. If it made one person happier, then that’s more than enough for us.”
U.K. rappers Headie One, AJ Tracey, and Stormzy’s collaboration “Ain’t It Different” is a new entry at four while Nathan Dawe and KSI’s “Lighter” rounds out the top five at five.

Brandon Flowers Bans His Kids From Listening to Morrissey's Songs Due to His Racist Views

    Instagram

The Killers frontman, who’s also The Smiths superfan, says he won’t encourage his children to listen to Morrissey’s music because of the latter’s support for far-right groups.
    Apr 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Smiths superfan Brandon Flowers won’t play Morrissey’s music to his kids due to the singer’s allegedly racist views.
The Killers frontman is such a huge Smiths fan he once kept a cup Morrissey drank from in a cafe, and invited their former guitarist Johnny Marr on stage to perform with him at Glastonbury last year 2019.
However, although he still listens to The Smiths due to his admiration for Marr, Brandon doesn’t plan to convince his three kids, aged between nine and 12, to share his obsession due to the “Panic” singer’s support for far-right groups.
“I don’t think Marr should be held back because of Morrissey, so I don’t regret it,” he tells British newspaper The Times of his The Smiths fandom. “It is difficult to separate it (the band) from him, and I’m not going around playing the music in front of my kids.”
However, he says that if the band’s songs did pop up on the radio, he’d still listen.
“If What She Said came on the radio (when I was) with my kids, I wouldn’t change it,” the American rocker adds. “It’s still an amazing song, so I’m not that serious, where I would change the station. I don’t agree with him, but I’m not going to burn my CDs by The Smiths or anything.”
Flowers previously said he still regarded Morrissey as “a king” because of his musical achievements, but confessed to having forgotten about the controversy over his comments supporting the far-right For Britain party and other comments on race.
