Kesha Not Impressed With Caitlyn Jenner's Cringey Cover of 'Tik Tok' on 'The Masked Singer'

    Instagram

The 34-year-old star cannot help but hide her face into her shirt when watching the father of Kylie and Kendall Jenner sing her hit song on the competition show.

    Apr 8, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Kesha, who was previously known as Ke$ha, has reacted to Caitlyn Jenner’s cringey cover of her song on “The Masked Singer”. When watching the father of Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner perform “Tik Tok” on the competition show, the Grammy nominee made it clear that she is not impressed with it.

Making use of TikTok on Tuesday, April 6, the 34-year-old star put out a video of herself hiding her face into her shirt while watching Caitlyn’s performance. Alongside the clip, she wrote, “Live for a cover and live for this outfit… but i mean i have to go.” She then added in the caption, “Feeling like [P. Diddy]… I think?”

Kesha’s reaction came around three weeks after Caitlyn performed her hit song as the Phoenix. The ex-husband of Kris Jenner previously revealed to Us Weekly that she “worked for two months on these three songs” before getting eliminated in the March 17 episode of the show.

“I did ‘Tik Tok’ and I was going to do The Temptations song, ‘I Know You Wanna Leave Me’, and I had a John Denver song. It was tough to get those down,” she admitted at that time. “If I were to go [and do] all the [songs] at the finals, I would have had to learn eight songs. It took me so long to get a couple songs down.”

Caitlyn also divulged that she asked her son Brandon Jenner to train her for “The Masked Singer” preparation. She explained, “He has a studio in his house, so I went downtown to his studio where I could record it and I worked on the songs with him. It was really great… Brandon got really into it and it was a big bonding moment for us. It was fun working on the songs with him.”

The Phoenix Insisted on Telling Family About 'The Masked Singer' Despite Producers' Advice Not to

    FOX

The newly-eliminated contestant who was unveiled as a transgender icon admits to going against the producers’ advice about keeping tight-lipped about her participation.

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Caitlyn Jenner had no idea how much work was involved in “The Masked Singer” before she agreed to take part.

The reality star was unveiled on the U.S. TV talent show on Wednesday night (17Mar21) after performing as the Phoenix. And speaking to Entertainment Weekly after her elimination, Caitlyn admitted she had underestimated the amount of work she’d have to do ahead of filming.

“I really didn’t realise how difficult it was going to be at that time,” she said. “I thought, eh, I can do this. But it was a lot of work. But I would suggest any other celebrity out there who gets asked to do this, that they give it a shot. Once it was all over with, which was very quickly, it was a good experience to go through.”

      See also…

While bosses urge contestants not to tell their nearest and dearest about their participation on the show, Caitlyn couldn’t resist letting her daughters Kendall and Kylie into the secret. But when she told them, her girls were bemused as to why she’d agreed to compete in the programme.

“I told both of them because we’re really close. And I said, ‘You can’t believe it, girls, this is what I’m doing.’ And when I told them I was doing The Masked Singer, they both said the exact same thing: Why are you doing that?!’ ” she laughed.

As for her reasons, Caitlyn said she told her daughters that she loves “a good challenge, number one, you know that. Number two, we’re living through this pandemic. I’ve got nothing else going on right now. They asked me to do this thing. Why not step out of the box, try something new?’ ”

'The Masked Singer': The Phoenix Revealed as Trailblazing Transgender Icon

    FOX

In the Group B premiere, the Phoenix makes debut along with Black Swan, Grandpa Monster, Chameleon and the Piglet, while Niecy Nash serves as a guest host.

    Mar 18, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“The Masked Singer” has unveiled another famous celebrity underneath an elaborate costume. The show returned with a new episode on Wednesday, March 17, which marked the Group B premiere of the current 5th season.

With Niecy Nash serving as the guest host, filling in for Nick Cannon who was recovering from COVID-19 at the time, the episode introduced five new contestants, Black Swan, Grandpa Monster, Chameleon, Phoenix and the Piglet.

Black Swan kicked off the performance with an edgy and passionate rendition of rock band Heart’s “Barracuda”. Using hints from the clue package, the panelists threw their guesses, with Ken Jeong predicting it’s Anya Taylor-Joy, Jenny McCarthy naming Camila Cabello and Nicole Scherzinger saying it’s Leona Lewis.

Grandpa Monster, who had a walker, followed it up with a youthful performance of Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5”. The panelists suspected that he wasn’t as old as the costume suggested, so they threw guesses which included names like Johnny Manziel, WWE star the Miz and Scott Disick.

Up next was Chameleon, who performed a cover of Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me”. From his tall stature and tech creds, the panelists guessed he was Dwight Howard, Diplo or “The Masked Singer” own Nick Cannon.

Phoenix then burned the stage with a performance of “Tik Tok” by Kesha (previously Ke$ha). The clue package led the panelists to suggest that it’s someone associated with the LGBTQ community, with the guesses thrown including Tim Gunn, Caitlyn Jenner, Jonathan Van Ness and RuPaul.

Last, but not least, the Piglet sang Dan + Shay’s “Speechless”. His vocal quality and clues about a romantic split made the panelists think he was Adam Lambert, Liam Hemsworth or Charlie Puth.

The first contestant to be unmasked revealed that night was Phoenix, after Niecy announced that she got the lowest votes. And Phoenix was revealed as Olympic gold medalist and trans right advocate Caitlyn Jenner, which meant Jenny was right.

Caitlyn poked fun at Ken for changing his initial guess from her to RuPaul, saying onstage, “Ken, you’ve always been an idiot. What are we gonna do with you?”

Speaking to ET, Caitlyn explained why she decided to join the show. “I’ve always tried to encourage my children to kind of take risks in life, and put yourself out there, and they’ve all done that,” the former reality star shared. “That’s how you grow as a person, is to try new things and experience them.”

Gabrielle Admits Struggles With Panic Attack During 'The Masked Singer' Stint

    ITV

Having been voted off the British competition show, the ‘Dreams’ singer explains why she is quietly relieved to be unmasked and why it was hard for her to keep her cool inside her Harlequin costume.

    Feb 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – Singer Gabrielle is glad she was voted off British TV hit “The Masked Singer” on Saturday, February 6, because she was suffering panic attacks in her costume.
The “Dreams” singer admits she struggled as the Harlequin and is quietly relieved she didn’t make it to the final.
“I’m a very nervous performer and I thought by doing this maybe I can go out of my comfort zone,” she said after she was unmasked, revealing that giving birth was easier than appearing on the show.
“I got really scared, like a big baby,” she told The Mirror. “The mask is heavy. Nothing prepares you for the panic. I was getting panic attacks… I couldn’t breathe. You have to sing a song and your mouth is so dry.”

“The panic attacks, the heat, the costume… it was all so hard, but it was also incredible,” she added.
Gabrielle reveals she needed three fans in her costume to keep her cool. “I thought I was doing a great job at masking my voice, but clearly not. You have a vocal coach. They try and say, ‘Can that be a bit less Gabrielle-ish’. For ‘Diamonds’, they wanted me to be posh and for Fast Car they wanted me, not Cockney, but a Lily Allen vibe,” she added.
“I was like, ‘I can’t do that. It’s just not me!’ But I did try. When I listened to ‘Diamonds’ I thought, ‘I wasn’t meant to sound like that,’ ” she continued. Gabrielle added she also kept her “The Masked Singer” stint a secret from her daughter. “My daughter didn’t know anything about it,” she revealed.
