In the show’s first episode of ‘The Talk’ since its nearly month-long hiatus, Sheryl claims she has ‘trauma’ following her on-air debate with former co-host Sharon Osbourne.

    Apr 13, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Piers Morgan has reacted to Sheryl Underwood’s recent claim. Upon learning “The Talk” co-host declared that she experienced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following her on-air clash with Sharon Osbourne, the former host of “Good Morning Britain” dubbed her statement “crock of s**t.”

On Monday, April 12, the 56-year-old English broadcaster made use of Twitter to repost an article about the comedienne’s claims. Along with it, he simply argued, “Oh what a crock of sh*t.” Prior to that, he retweeted a video from “The Talk” Twitter account in which she shared a message ahead of the show’s return. He raged, “What a shameless fraud.”

Piers Morgan dubs Sheryl Underwood’s ‘PTSD’ claim ‘crock of ‘shit.’

“The Talk” made its return on Monday since its nearly month-long hiatus. In the episode, Sheryl addressed her past argument with Sharon and spilled, “I feel like I’ve been in, like, PTSD because it was a trauma, and I feel like I want to get past this because I really wanted to get back to work with my friends and my colleagues and the crew… But I also wanted to get back to the audience.”

Sheryl also divulged the reason why she remained calm during the awkward debate. “I didn’t want to escalate things with Sharon because I thought I was having a conversation with a friend, but also I knew I had to be an example for others to follow because I didn’t want to perceived as the angry black woman,” she said. “And that really scared me.”

“I didn’t want to be that and I wanted to remain calm and remain focused, and it’s difficult to go back to that day because I just feel the trauma,” the 57-year-old went on. “I feel fearful, apprehensive.”

Sheryl and Sharon’s heated debate occurred in the March 10 episode of “The Talk”. At that time, the wife of Ozzy Osbourne defended Piers in the wake of his controversial comments about Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Sharon, who has since left the CBS talk show, claimed that she has personally apologized to Sheryl. The latter also confirmed that her former co-host texted her but she did not reply because their on-air stand-off was under an internal investigation.

Sheryl Underwood Clarifies on Her Unanswering Sharon Osbourne Text During 'The Talk' Return

    CBS/Tiffany Watson

In the April 12 episode of the talk show, Sheryl finds a defender in co-host Elaine Welteroth who claims that Sharon ‘was not listening and went off the rails into disrespect.’

    Apr 13, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“The Talk” co-host Sheryl Underwood has broken her silence about her TV stand-off with Sharon Osbourne as the U.S. show returned on Monday, April 12 without the outspoken Brit.

Underwood and Osbourne fell out during an episode on March 10, during a tense on-air discussion about racism that led to Sharon’s departure from the show.

Sheryl addressed viewers at the top of Monday’s episode and revealed she feared being perceived as “the angry black woman”.

She also addressed Osbourne’s demand that she should not “dare cry” to win sympathy during their awkward clash.

“I’m not tearing up because I hurt your feelings or want some sympathy,” she said. “I’m crying because I have to restrain myself… To be told you can’t do something… I’m a grown-a** woman, but you have to suppress that.”

The entire episode of “The Talk” was devoted to racism and the March 10 showdown, which was sparked by Osbourne’s defence of her friend Piers Morgan following his outburst about Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex on a British breakfast show. Morgan had been accused of racism for comments he made about the royal and Sharon stated, “I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist.”

The tense encounter came to a head when Osbourne turned to her co-host and asked her to be precise about how Morgan had been racist and as Sheryl started to respond, Sharon raged, “Don’t you dare cry.”

On Monday’s show, Sheryl also confirmed she had not been in contact with Osbourne since the episode, although Sharon had texted her. Underwood said she did not respond because their on-air stand-off was under an internal investigation.

Underwood was defended by another co-host, Elaine Welteroth, who said she believed Osbourne “was not listening and went off the rails into disrespect”, while shooting down reports that she and Sheryl had conspired to “attack” Osbourne, adding, “That is absolutely, categorically false.”

“What you saw were two women who were maintaining their composure, their dignity and their respect every step of the way and were not being heard,” Welteroth added.

CBS Accused of Hypocrisy for 'Exploiting' Sharon Osbourne's Racism Scandal for 'The Talk' Ratings

    CBS/Cliff Lipson

In other news, it has been reported that the talk show is set to end its month-long hiatus on Monday, April 12 as the remaining co-hosts will discuss ‘race and healing’ with diversity, equity, inclusion and justice expert Dr. Donald E. Grant.

    Apr 10, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
CBS faces backlash after it keeps promoting “The Talk” using clip featuring Sharon Osbourne defending Meghan Markle against the British royal family. The said clip was taken two days before Osbourne had an on-air argument with co-host Sheryl Underwood over Piers Morgan, leading to Osbourne getting fired from the show.

According to Daily Mail, some industry insiders accused the network of “hypocrisy” over the incident. Additionally, a source close to the wife of Ozzy Osbourne believed that CBS is “exploiting the controversy for ratings.”

In the episode, which was taken before Piers made controversial comments on Meghan and her bombshell revelations in her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Osbourne was seen slamming the royal family and the queen. She also described that their alleged poor treatment toward the Duchess of Sussex was an “absolute racism at its height.”

Despite that, Osbourne defended her pal Piers who accused Meghan of lying and refused to believe her. “I supported my friend with his freedom of speech and his opinions of what he felt about the interview of Meghan and Harry,” she said at the time. “Did I like everything he said, did I agree with what he said? No. Because it’s his opinion, it’s not my opinion.”

Her stance on the whole matter earned her criticism from most poeple including co-host Sheryl. The pair had a tense argument on-air before CBS eventually decided to let Osbourne go.

In other news, it has been reported that “The Talk” is set to return on Monday, April 12 following their month-long hiatus. In the upcoming episode, the remaining co-hosts including Sheryl, Carrie Ann Inaba, Amanda Kloots and Elaine Welteroth are set to have an important discussion regarding “race and healing” with diversity, equity, inclusion and justice expert Dr. Donald E. Grant.

” ‘The Talk’ returns with a discussion about race and healing; expert on diversity, equity, inclusion and justice Dr. Donald E. Grant will offer advice on how to have these difficult conversations; nationally acclaimed trauma therapist and life coach Dr. Anita Phillips will share her expertise on how to heal after a painful event or conversation,” a statement read. Life coach Dr. Anita Phillips is also set to make an appearance in the episode.

Sharon Osbourne Sickened by Racist Label Following 'The Talk' Exit

    WENN/Instar

The 68-year-old wife of Ozzy Osbourne is said to be ‘bitterly disappointed’ with the controversy that led to her departure from the CBS daytime talk show.

    Apr 1, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Sharon Osbourne did not take her departure from “The Talk” very well. Having left the CBS daytime talk show in the wake of her racism scandal, the wife of Ozzy Osbourne was reported to be sickened by “racist” label following her exit.

“Sharon is bitterly disappointed at how it all played out,” a source told Us Weekly. “Her whole career has been based on not holding back, speaking her mind and championing free speech – so to be classified or perceived as a bigot or a racist is a sickening scenario and an utter nightmare for her, especially since she insists up and down it’s all a pack of lies and that’s the last thing she is.”

The 68-year-old, who co-hosted “The Talk” since 2010, reportedly has been “trying to see all the positives” in her current situation. She was also unveiled to have surrounded herself with her inner circle, most of whom told her that she will “bounce back 10 times stronger.”

“[Sharon]’s family is supporting her too and it tears them all apart seeing her suffer like this,” the insider went on sharing. “They think it’s a big stitch-up and she’s been hung out to dry for something she hasn’t done or believed in.”

Sharon’s exit from “The Talk” was announced by CBS on March 26. “Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave ‘The Talk’. The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home,” the network said in a statement. “As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.”

In the March 10 episode of the talk show, the mother of Kelly Osbourne was engaged in an on-air debate with co-host Sheryl Underwood over Piers Morgan’s controversial comments about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. A few days later, Leah Remini accused her of using slurs against their former co-hosts, Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert.

CBS Shuts Down Report That Sharon Osbourne Received $10M for Leaving 'The Talk'

    CBS/Monty Brinton

The network announced Sharon’s departure in a statement on Friday, March 26, two weeks after the 68-year-old British was involved in a heated argument about race with black co-host Sheryl Underwood.

    Mar 30, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
CBS has responded to a report claiming that CBS gave Sharon Osbourne up to $10 million ahead of her exit from “The Talk”. According to Page Six, a source spilled that Sharon “is walking away with a $5 to $10 million minimum payout and was able to spin that it was her decision [to leave the show].”

Another source, meanwhile, added that the wife of Ozzy Osbourne would be speaking out about her exit “when she is ready.” The informant continued, “She has been on that show for 11 years and knows all the secrets.”

CBS, however, has denied the claims. “False, inaccurate or untrue. Take your pick,” a CBS spokesperson said.

The network announced Sharon’s departure in a statement which was released on Friday, March 26, two weeks after the 68-year-old British was involved in a heated argument about race with black co-host Sheryl Underwood. “Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave ‘The Talk’. The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home,” the statement read.

“As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace,” the statement continued.

CBS also denied Sharon’s claims that she was “blindsided” by producers over the confrontation in the episode. “We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts,” the statement also read. “At the same time, we acknowledge the Network and Studio teams, as well as the showrunners, are accountable for what happened during that broadcast as it was clear the co-hosts were not properly prepared by the staff for a complex and sensitive discussion involving race.”

“During this week’s hiatus, we are coordinating workshops, listening sessions and training about equity, inclusion and cultural awareness for the hosts, producers and crew. Going forward, we are identifying plans to enhance the producing staff and producing procedures to better serve the hosts, the production and, ultimately, our viewers,” the statement concluded.

Sharon received backlash after she defended Piers Morgan who said that he didn’t believe Meghan Markle’s claims, including her racism experience in the royal family. “I am with you. I stand by you,” she tweeted at the time. “People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”

Sharon Osbourne Leaves 'The Talk' After Racism Scandal

    CBS/Cliff Lipson

The news of her departure arrives two weeks after the 68-year-old British was involved in a heated argument with black co-host Sheryl Underwood as the former was confronted over her support to Piers Morgan.

    Mar 27, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Sharon Osbourne is leaving “The Talk”. The news of her departure was announced by CBS in a statement which was released on Friday, March 26, two weeks after the 68-year-old British was involved in a heated argument about race with black co-host Sheryl Underwood.

“Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave ‘The Talk’. The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home,” the statement read. “As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.”

Through the statement, CBS also addressed Sharon’s claims that she was “blindsided” by producers. The wife of Ozzy Osbourne previously shared that they gave other co-hosts cue cards of questions in which they confronted Sharon for defending pal Piers Morgan who claimed that he didn’t believe Meghan Markle’s revelations in her and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Shutting down Sharon’s claims, the statement continued, “We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts.” It added, “At the same time, we acknowledge the Network and Studio teams, as well as the showrunners, are accountable for what happened during that broadcast as it was clear the co-hosts were not properly prepared by the staff for a complex and sensitive discussion involving race.”

Sharon has been under fire after she defended Piers in a tweet. “I am with you. I stand by you,” she wrote at the time. “People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”

Her decision to support Piers, who declared he didn’t believe anything the Duchess had said, including accusing members of the royal family of racism, was then brought into the topic in an episode of the popular talk show as Sheryl asked her what she would say to people who felt it was racist to defend a person making such comments.

To the question, Sharon replied, “For me, at 68 years of age to have to turn around and say ‘I ain’t racist’ – what’s it got to do with me? How could I be racist about anybody? How could I be racist about anybody or anything in my life? How can I?”

“I will ask you again, Sheryl, I was asking you during the break and I’m asking you again. And don’t try and cry, because if anyone should be crying, it should be me,” Sharon responded. “This is the situation: you tell me where you have heard him say – educate me. Tell me when you have heard him say racist things. Educate me. Tell me.”

'The Talk' Hiatus Continues With No Official Return Date After Sharon Osbourne's Outburst

    CBS

The production on CBS’ all-female panel show has been shelved for another week as the bosses continue investigation amid racism and homophobic allegations against Sharon.

    Mar 22, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Production on Sharon Osbourne’s U.S. show “The Talk” has been shelved for another week as TV bosses continue to investigate a live on-air spat between the Brit and co-host Sheryl Underwood.

The pair fell out over Sharon’s defence of newsman pal Piers Morgan’s attack on the Duchess of Sussex when Underwood attempted to suggest his comments about the royal’s tabloid torment, made on “Good Morning Britain”, were racist.

Clearly upset, Sharon demanded an explanation from Sheryl, insisting her outburst inferred that she was a racist for stating Morgan was paid to have an opinion.

“I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist,” Osbourne said. She apologised for the exchange the next day on Twitter.

Following the awkward stand-off on the 10 March (21) episode, former “The Talk” co-hosts Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini turned on Osbourne and claimed they had heard her use racially-insensitive and homophobic language behind the scenes on the show.

Sharon responded by calling the allegations a “setup” and defiantly telling her detractors to “f**k off.”

The whole drama prompted CBS bosses to shut down “The Talk” and put the show on hiatus for a week. That week has now been extended and now no official return date has been set.

The TV bosses continue to investigate the heated exchange between Osbourne and Underwood.

“CBS is committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace across all of our productions,” a CBS spokesman says. “We’re also very mindful of the important concerns expressed and discussions taking place regarding events on The Talk. This includes a process where all voices are heard, claims are investigated and appropriate action is taken where necessary.”
