  • 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' Put Under Investigation Following Complaints About Toxic Environment

    NBC

Past and present staff members have came forward with claims that host Ellen DeGeneres is not the friendly person she appears to be and does not live up to her ‘be kind to each other’ mantra.
    Jul 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Beloved talk show star Ellen DeGeneres’ workplace is reportedly under investigation following a series of complaints from staff members past and present about their treatment behind the scenes.
WarnerMedia bosses have ordered the inquiry to check on claims made by almost a dozen “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” employees.
The reports suggest DeGeneres is not the friendly person she appears to be and does not live up to her “be kind to each other” mantra.
A recent BuzzFeed expose suggested the working environment on the show is toxic.
Variety sources claim TV executives have sent memos to all the staff of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to let them know that the investigation has been launched, adding a third party will conduct interviews with “current and former staffers about their experiences on set.”
The show’s producers previously released a joint statement to BuzzFeed following the publication of the complaints – all from anonymous sources. It read, “Over the course of nearly two decades, 3,000 episodes, and employing over 1,000 staff members, we have strived to create an open, safe, and inclusive work environment. We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience.”
“It’s not who we are and not who we strive to be, and not the mission Ellen has set for us. For the record, the day to day responsibility of the Ellen show is completely on us. We take all of this very seriously and we realize, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better.”

  • Tamar Braxton's Boyfriend Is 'Livid' With 'Get Ya Life!' Production, Wants More Screentime

    WENN/FayesVision

It is also said that David Adefeso is not happy with how he’s portrayed on the new WEtv show and wants it to be ‘Tamar and David’ show, making production concerned ‘with how he was affecting’ the singer.
    Jul 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – More details about Tamar Braxton’s alleged issue with WEtv over her new reality show “Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!” are here. While her boyfriend David Adefeso claimed in his 911 call that Tamar is unhappy with the network, it is now revealed that David wants the show to be axed as it doesn’t go as he wants.
“David’s behavior on the show, with Tamar and production was alarming,” a source close to the production says to TheJasmineBrand. “He wanted to be VERY involved and wanted to be on camera, way more than expected from the very first day.”
It is said that the production was initially under impression that Tamar would be the main focus of the show with David playing a supportive role. “David constantly acted like he wanted to be behind-the-scenes and didn’t want to be on camera, but when production began he was always trying to be on camera,” the source claims.
The insider adds, “Even when he wasn’t scheduled to be in a scene – he would make sure that he was involved in some way and would make the scene about him, so that he could get more time on camera. He wanted this to be the ‘David and Tamar’ show.”
Additionally, the informant claims that David would stress Tamar out by always calling her when he wasn’t around. That is enough to make production concerned “with how he was affecting Tamar’s ability to focus on working on herself, which is what she said she wanted to do.”
“This reality show was different in that the audience saw exactly what was shot. Those scenes where he’s inserting himself into the process, yelling at Goli (Samii) and telling Tamar what to do and how to handle herself – that’s what really happened,” the source adds. “And I don’t think he expected to come off like that – he doesn’t want the world to see that. He was livid when he saw it. This was supposed to be his big moment where he was officially introduced to the world and that’s not the image he wanted to portray.”
Prior to this, a report said that Tamar’s family was confused as to why David felt the need to talk about Tamar being “so angry” with the network when he called 911 when he found the singer unresponsive in their hotel room on Thursday night, July 16. Sources claimed that instead of Tamar, it’s actually David who has issues with WEtv regarding the way he’s portrayed on his and Tamar’s new show which will debut on July 30.
During his 911 call, David claimed that the former “The Real” co-host was “very angry earlier on. She has trouble with the network, the company she’s working with and they did something today.” He then was heard sobbing and calling the network “f***ing network.”
“And it’s come to this. When do you get free? At what point can a company or organization control…,” David added while weeping uncontrollably. When asked how long she’s worked for them, David responded, “everything she held….evything.”
Tamar sparked concern as it was reported that she was hospitalized after David found her unresponsive from possible suicide attempt. Fortunately, on Monday, July 20 Tamar was said to be “awake and communicating.” She talked to doctors about her situation and the days leading up to her hospitalization. She has also reportedly been moved to a new hospital facility to get a good mental health treatment.

  • 'Game of Thrones' Star Understands Outrage Over Missandei's Cruel Death

    HBO

Nathalie Emmanuel says she understands why black fans are upset as the sole black female lead was viciously killed in the final season of the HBO hit series.
    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nathalie Emmanuel has reflected on her bloody end in hit show “Game of Thrones” and insisted if she were to do another big show, the subject of diversity should not be an afterthought.
In the wake of the global Black Lives Matter movement, Emmanuel has reflected on the brutal way her character, Missandei, a translator freed from slavery by Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen, died – chained and viciously beheaded in the final season.
In an interview with British Vogue, the actress revealed she understood the huge outcry from “Game of Thrones” black fans over the death of its sole black female lead as they had long criticised the show over its lack of diversity.
“I definitely understood beforehand what my role meant to people,” she reflected. “But the days after that episode really brought it home… When it comes down to it, the backlash stems from the fact that, when there’s so few non-white characters on-screen, a death like that registers as a massive loss.”
She continued, “It definitely caused me to reflect a lot more – about race and diversity more generally. At the end of the day, if there’s ever a show on the level of Game of Thrones again, representation has to be part of the conversation from the beginning. That way, there’s no single person who has to represent every other person of colour.”
The British actress admitted she often discussed her concerns over her character’s representation with her co-star Jacob Anderson as she became aware of how much their presence on the show mattered to fans of the hit HBO fantasy series.
“It’s a conversation I used to have a lot with Jacob (Anderson), who played Grey Worm, the only other major non-white character in the series,” she added. “We were always really conscious of how much our being part of Game of Thrones mattered to people. It made us really protective of Missandei and Grey Worm.”

  • 'Killing Eve' Season 4 Put on Hold Amid Rumors of Sandra Oh's Reluctance to Film in Europe

    AMC

The production on the next installment of ‘Killing Eve’ has been halted indefinitely as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic disrupted the filming schedule in Europe.
    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Filming on “Killing Eve” season four has reportedly been postponed indefinitely as the complicated European shooting schedule is unworkable during the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Deadline.com, bosses at production firm Sid Gentle Films were originally aiming to start filming a new series of the hit espionage show next month (Aug20), but plans have now been abandoned.
The reported reason for the delay is the show’s need for various European location shoots, which in the past have taken place in the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, and Italy.
A spokesperson for the show explained, “Killing Eve shoots across multiple European locations. Due to the uncertainty of the world as a result of Covid-19, no shooting schedules for Killing Eve season four have been locked in at this point and there are various scenarios in play.”
A source close to the show also downplayed rumours Sandra Oh, who plays title character Eve Polastri, has been reluctant to fly into Europe to begin shooting.
The delay in filming the show, which also stars Jodie Comer as assassin Villanelle, is thought to make it likely to miss its expected spring 2021 premiere date
