  • Dwayne Johnson, Khloe Kardashian, Sofia Vergara Make Surprise Cameos in '30 Rock' Reunion Special

    WENN

The special episode of the Tina Fey NBC sitcom is filled with surprise appearances from celebrity guests like The Rock, Khloe, Sofia, Al Roker, and Mandy Moore.
    Jul 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dwayne Johnson and Khloe Kardashian both made surprise appearances on Thursday (16Jul20) night’s “30 Rock” reunion special.
The one-time reunion special saw stars including Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin reunite more than seven years since the NBC sitcom aired its series finale, and give fans a glimpse at how its celebrated characters have grown since the show came to an end.
While the special also served as NBC’s upfronts presentation, specifically meant to promote the network’s upcoming season of shows, as well as its new streaming platform, Peacock, writers made the double-function appear seamless throughout the hour-long instalment.
In the episode, Jack Donaghy (Baldwin) calls Liz Lemon (Fey) to tell her there’s a possibility her old sketch comedy series, “TGS”, might have a chance at a reboot on Peacock – if they can sell the idea to NBC President Kenneth Parcell, played by Jack McBrayer.

Khloe and “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara both play possible candidates for roles throughout the episode, appearing via video link, while Dwayne and Al Roker appear as friends of Kenneth, also showing up remotely.

Andy Samberg, Ted Danson, and Mandy Moore also appeared in the episode, which was a hit with fans and the stars of the series alike.
Speaking in a recent interview, Tina gushed, “It was very special and very heartwarming to be able to do what we used to do and to be safe doing it. I look forward to these baby steps for other people being able to get back to work soon.”

  • 'Falcon and Winter Soldier' TV Show Pushed Back Indefinitely Amid Pandemic

    Walt Disney Pictures

The Captain America spin-off was originally scheduled to debut on the Disney streaming site summer this year but it now has been pushed back indefinitely.
    Jul 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Marvel’s “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series has been bumped from its August (20) debut on Disney+.
Production on The Avengers and Captain Marvel spin-off, starring Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, was one of the first major projects shut down as a result of the spread of COVID-19 back in March (20) and there’s still no date for a return, so Marvel bosses have opted to delay the launch indefinitely.
The six-episode series will follow the events of last year’s (19) “Avengers: Endgame”, which featured Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers character passing on the Captain America shield to his sidekick, played by Mackie.
The series will also feature Daniel Bruhl, Emily VanCamp, and Wyatt Russell.

AceShowbiz – Nick Cannon’s new daytime talk show has been shelved following the anti-Semitism controversy that cost him his TV gig at ViacomCBS earlier this week (beg13Jul20).
The TV and radio personality was fired after making controversial remarks during a “Cannon’s Class” podcast chat with Public Enemy rapper Professor Griff, but he won’t be losing his job as the host of hit TV show “The Masked Singer”.
And now the co-producers of his upcoming talk show at Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury have confirmed they are standing by Cannon, but his syndicated daytime programme, which was scheduled to debut in September (20), will now launch at the end of next year (21).
A production company spokesman reveals executives are happy with the apology Nick made on Thursday, stating, “After conversations with Nick, we do believe that his public comments don’t reflect his true feelings and his apology is heartfelt and sincere.”
“We want to continue the healing process as he meets with leaders of the Jewish community and engages in a dialogue with our distribution partners to hear their views. We are standing by Nick in our hope that by fall 2021 he will be able to use his extraordinary talent and platform to entertain, enlighten and unite his audience on the Nick Cannon talk show.”

  • Two Families of Different Backgrounds to Swap Places on Ava DuVernay's Cultural Experiment Series

    WENN

The Oscar-nominated filmmaker has teamed up with NBC for an unscripted social experiment series called ‘Home Sweet Home’ where two families will swap places.
    Jul 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Director Ava DuVernay is set to launch an unscripted social experiment series, titled “Home Sweet Home”.
The 10-episode, hour-long series, set to air on NBC, will centre on two families who will switch places to experience cultural perspectives very different from their own. It will challenge participants to walk in the shoes of people from diverse racial, religious, economic, geographic, and gender backgrounds.
“The idea for Home Sweet Home came to me during the strange and important times we’re all experiencing,” DuVernay said in a statement. “The premise is that we are farther apart than ever, yet bound by what we have in common – concerns with health, safety, justice and community.”
“These notions manifest in each of us in different ways, but nowhere more striking than in the privacy of our own homes. I’m thrilled that NBC and Warner Horizon embraced the challenge of this moment to celebrate the specificity of our differences as we discover the many beautiful things that we have in common.”
The “Selma” filmmaker is also developing a Netflix series focused on the life of American football quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick, which the pair will produce.

  • Khloe Kardashian Spills Brother Rob's Return to 'KUWTK'

    Instagram

Dishing on what to expect from the next season of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’, the Good Americans founder reveals her brother Rob is back filming for the reality show now that he’s ‘feeling more confident.’
    Jul 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rob Kardashian is going to make his presence be known more than ever on small screen. The formerly reclusive brother of the Kardashian sisters is going to return to the family’s popular reality series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”.
Spilling the beans on Rob’s return to “KUWTK” was none other than his sister Khloe Kardashian. Speaking with SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up” on what to expect in the next season of the E! reality series, the 36-year-old shared, “We kind of say that every season when we’re done and we’re like, ‘what else are we gonna film?’ And then something diabolical happens in this family and they’re like, ‘Oh! OK, we’ll keep going.’ ”
But there’s going to be something more special in the new season as the show will welcome back a familiar face. “My brother’s coming back around,” Koko continued. “He’s feeling more confident and comfortable. I think he just started a whole new season, so here we go!”
Khloe discussed more about her brother Rob’s return to the show while talking to PEOPLE about her migraine-related Take Back Today campaign with with Nurtec. “Rob is going to be on the show more,” so she claimed.
“So now he is filming more,” she went on teasing. “We’re filming more within our homes, and he is right there with us. I’m excited for everyone to see that. He’s such a good person and I’m just happy he’s coming back around on camera a little bit more.”
While the sock designer was rarely seen in public in recent years amid his struggle with weight gain, the mother of True Thompson assured that her brother is “always around.” She added, “Rob is truly my best friend. I love, love, love, him. He’s always around. People think we don’t see him, but just because the public doesn’t see him, doesn’t mean we don’t see him.”
Khloe also stressed that the family has always put Rob’s comfort above anything else. “We never push him, everything is his free will,” she continued. “We always take photos – we have so many memories, but nothing public, so I was really happy because on my birthday, he said, ‘Oh, you can post that. I’m fine, I feel good.’ It made us feel so good that he was comfortable. And the reaction from the public was so positive that it gave him a boost of confidence.”
Rob made his first public appearance after years of staying out of the spotlight at Khloe’s 36th birthday party in late June. He has since been active on Instagram and shared his photos on the social media site.
A source told PEOPLE last month of his well-being now, “He takes care of himself, works out and eats better.” The source went on assuring, “He knows he looks better. And he is comfortable enough to be photographed. He wants people to know that he is doing well.”

    Jul 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Tiger King” star Joe Exotic is returning to TV screens from behind bars in a new documentary special.
“Surviving Joe Exotic” will feature never-before-seen interviews with the former Oklahoma zookeeper, originally filmed for the Wolves and Warriors docuseries on America’s Animal Planet network in 2018.
The footage was shot just months before he was sentenced to serve 22 years in prison for a number of charges, including animal abuse and plotting to have his rival, animal rights activist Carole Baskin, killed off by a hitman, last year (19).
The upcoming show will follow the stories of the big cats rescued from his zoo, The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, including partially-blind tigers Kryxis and Kadira, who had their vision restored with surgery after they were relocated to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center in Indiana.
It will also include chats with Exotic’s former employees, such as Saff Saffery, who lost an arm to one of his boss’ tigers.

  • Mo'Nique Gets Thumbs Up From Court to Go Forward With Discrimination Lawsuit Against Netflix

    Instagram

The streaming service has previously retaliated against the ‘Precious’ actress’ lawsuit, calling it ‘nonsensical’ because she’d named fellow African-American star, Wanda Sykes, in her example.
    Jul 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mo’Nique’s discrimination lawsuit against Netflix is moving forward, after a judge denied the streaming service’s request to dismiss her claims against them.
The Oscar-winning star sued the streaming giant last year, alleging that an offer of $500,000 for a comedy special amounted to discrimination against a black woman because other stars received far greater sums for similar shows.
Netflix retaliated and called Mo’Nique’s lawsuit “nonsensical” because she’d named another African-American woman, Wanda Sykes, in her example of those who received bigger paydays than her. However, on Thursday, July 16, a Los Angeles judge ruled that the lawsuit against Netflix could proceed.
“In asking the court to dismiss Mo’Nique’s lawsuit, Netflix argued shutting down good-faith negotiations because she raised concerns about pay discrimination is not retaliation under the law,” Mo’Nique’s lawyer, David deRubertis, told Fox News in a statement. “The court disagreed.”
He continued, “Today’s ruling is an important victory for Hollywood talent who, just like all other workers, need protections against retaliation if they raise concerns about pay discrimination during the hiring process. Employers in the entertainment industry need to take pay discrimination concerns seriously, fix them if the concerns have merit, and never retaliate against those who have the courage to speak up about equal pay.”

Mo’Nique didn’t respond to Thursday’s news on her social media pages, but did address the lawsuit on Instagram back in November, when she wrote, “I had a choice to make: I could accept what I felt was pay discrimination or I could stand up for those who came before me and those who will come after me. I chose to stand up.”
