Speaking about the next installment of her Netflix show, leading actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan also admits that she is keen to ‘dive into all the characters’ stories more.’
    Jul 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Never Have I Ever” star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan has opened up on her casting hopes for the show’s second season.
After a new instalment of the Netflix show was confirmed earlier this month (July), the star, whose character Devi ended the first season coming to terms with her father’s death as she was in the midst of a love triangle between arch-nemesis Ben Gross and jock Paxton Hall-Yoshida, mused on what’s to come for her onscreen counterpart.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she shared she’s keen to “dive into all the characters’ stories more,” and praised the show for “having such a variety of different personalities, different stories coming from different backgrounds.”
While it’s unclear when “Never Have I Ever” will be able to kick off production, due to COVID-19, Maitreyi does have ideas for new characters for the show’s second outing – with “The Office” superfan keen to see Steve Carell come onboard.
“I always joke, ‘What if Steve Carell came on and he played Devi’s uncle that she never knew?’ ” she quipped. “I realize that it makes no sense! … I would want Steve Carell because it would just be jokes… Like, he could just walk past (the scene), but that’s all you need.”
She’d also like to see co-creator Mindy Kaling join the cast, insisting the multi-talented star “needs to be on season two.”
“That’s not negotiable… That would be awesome to be able to act with her,” the star gushed. “Anybody could play a family member. She could play somebody in the school. She could do whatever.”
“She could play Devi’s dad’s sister. She can be an aunt, like the cool aunt!” she pitched. “Yes, she would be the cool aunt that enables all of Devi’s behavior!”

    Instagram

While teasing a potential reboot of her hit Nickelodeon show, the younger sister of Britney Spears hopes her eldest daughter, Maddie, can follow in her footsteps.
    Jul 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer/actress Jamie Lynn Spears is pushing TV bosses to give her pre-teen daughter her old role in a new “Zoey 101” series.
The 29-year-old portrayed lead character Zoey Brooks on the hit Nickelodeon show for three years until she fell pregnant with her eldest daughter, Maddie, in 2008, and now she is hoping the 12-year-old can follow in mum’s footsteps.
“Maybe she could play Zoey when she was younger or something,” Jamie told ET Online while teasing a potential reboot of the program.
Spears has been in talks about bringing “Zoey 101” back to life on the small screen, but the coronavirus pandemic has put discussions on hold.
“It’s just (hard during) quarantine and all this stuff,” she explained. “I think putting everyone’s safety first is what we are trying to do right now. And conversations that were started before this have kind of (taken) a slow pace, as everything else in the world.”

    Instagram

Her ‘Red Table Talk’ special, titled ‘Jada Brings Herself to the Table’, becomes the platform’s most-viewed original episode within a 24-hour period after drawing more than 15 million views.
    Jul 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jada Pinkett Smith has set a new Facebook Watch viewing record after coming clean about her affair with singer August Alsina in an episode of her “Red Table Talk” show.
The actress sat down with her husband, Will Smith, for a candid chat about their marriage, during which she confessed to embarking on a romance with Alsina during a secret separation around 2016.
The “Red Table Talk” special, titled “Jada Brings Herself to the Table”, debuted on Friday, July 10, and drew more than 15 million views in its first 24 hours online – becoming the platform’s most-viewed original episode within a 24-hour period.

It easily smashed the previous record-holder, another revealing instalment of “Red Table Talk”, from 2019.
That episode, which drew 7.6 million views in its first 24 hours, featured Kylie Jenner’s former best friend, Jordyn Woods, speaking out for the first time about her cheating scandal with basketball player Tristan Thompson. • Evan Rachel Wood's Mom 'Upset' by Her 'Westworld' Death

    HBO

The actress would love to return to the HBO hit series as Dolores Abernathy one day as she recounts her mother crying following the demise of her character on the show.
    Jul 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Evan Rachel Wood had a really hard time keeping the season three death of her “Westworld” character quiet – especially from her “devastated” mum.
The “True Blood” star was sworn to secrecy when she heard the sad news about her future on the hit HBO show, but she was most worried about how her mother would react.
“So (co-creator and showrunner) Jonah (Jonathan Nolan)… broke the news to me. He said that she (character Dolores) was going to die; he was very blunt about it…,” the star tells Variety and iHeart podcast “The Big Ticket”.
But keeping the information to herself was harder than she imagined.
“I’m bummed out and going through this mourning period, and I can’t tell anybody why or what’s going on or how the season ended,” she continues. “Honestly, the person that it was the hardest for was my mother… I knew she was going to be devastated. And she was, but more than I anticipated.”
“I called her up and she’s just weeping… I had to… give her some kind of hope, but for the most part, that was the hardest phone call I think. I understand why she was so upset; she takes it personally any time a character that I play meets their demise. It’s a personal attack.”
And Evan is hoping to have some good news for her mum one day soon because a possible return to the show for her dead character has been suggested.
“I want to come back,” she adds.

  • Tucker Carlson's Head Writer Quits After Exposed to Make Racist and Sexist Comments Online

    Fox News

Blake Neff who worked on Fox News’ ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ has resigned after it’s revealed he used N-word and made derogatory comments about a woman under a pseudonym.
    Jul 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Blake Neff, one of Tucker Carlson’s top writers for his Fox news show, has stepped down after a string of controversial posts were uncovered online.
Bosses at CNN Business discovered remarks from Blake in an online forum, sharing racist and sexist material under a pseudonym. Among several posts, they confirmed he used the N-word and derided a woman for being a “megashrew.”
After uncovering the unsavoury remarks, officials at the organisation contacted Blake for a statement on his comments, but a network spokesperson revealed that he had resigned the following day. Tucker could not be reached for comment.
One of the comments in question showed Blake deriding a woman and posting information about her dating life as he invited others to mock her and invade her privacy.
Another, made in the wake of ongoing Black Lives Matter protests worldwide, saw Blake write that the only people who care about changing the name of the NFL’s Washington Redskins are “white libs and their university-‘educated’ pets.”
Tucker has been under fire from stars in recent weeks after he criticised celebrities, including Seth Rogen and Lil Nas X, for donating to bail funds amid protests against systematic racism.
“F**k this pasty a*shole,” Seth responded, calling the anchor a “white supremacist.”

  • Kevin Costner and 'Yellowstone' Co-Stars Ordered to Two-Week Quarantine Ahead of Montana Filming

    Paramount Network

Creator and director Taylor Sheridan claims to have spoken extensively with Governor Steve Bullock about his plans to start shooting the new series of the western drama.
    Jul 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kevin Costner and his “Yellowstone” castmates have been ordered to quarantine for two weeks in rural Montana before they can start shooting the new series of the western drama.
Creator and director Taylor Sheridan has spoken to the state’s Governor, Steve Bullock, about his filming plans and the official has green lighted the shoot as long as the cast and crew self-isolate upon arrival and then stay away from locals.
“We’re supposed to start mid-August, and we’re putting that together as best we can,” Sheridan tells Deadline. “I’m fortunate that this show shoots on a ranch in Montana. We’re going to shoot exclusively there this year, or in and around it.”
“We’ve got the crew and the cast up there, and it’s in an area of the state that has no active cases now. As long as we’re very careful to not bring any in… Once we’re there we’ll be very cautious about how we move. The best thing we can do for the community is limit our interaction with them, really, for now. And everyone will just stay there for the duration.”
“I’ve spoken with the Governor extensively about how to mitigate this. He was very fair and also very aware that Los Angeles is a hot spot (for the coronavirus), and that’s where a fair amount of our crew and most of our cast lives. So he said, ‘Hey, look, bring them in, quarantine them for two weeks, test them when they get here, test them when they leave, and just ask them to stay on your set or at their home until that time. And keep a programme of very rigid testing as you’re going’, which is what we’ll do.”
“I’ve spent a lot of time talking with my friend Tyler Perry, who is in a similar situation in that he’s starting up (production) very soon. He has his own studio, I don’t. He sent me some video the other day where he’s building housing on his lot, where the cast and crew and everyone can stay right there, with a restaurant and everything. We’re both debating the pros and cons of building a cantina and anything else we can do to get through this.”

  • Ricky Gervais Says 'The Office' Would Have Sparked Fury Today Due to Easily-Offended People

    BBC

The star of the original British television comedy series says the show would have been canceled today as producers would be intimidated by ‘outrage mobs.’
    Jul 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ricky Gervais wouldn’t make his hit TV comedy “The Office” today as BBC bosses would be too scared of “outrage mobs” to air it.
“The Office” ran for two series on the BBC from 2001, spawning its own hit U.S. spin-off and a 2016 movie, “Life on the Road”.
However, he says that much of the show’s comedy, which was based around his character, bumbling executive David Brent’s insensitivity and obnoxiousness, would be lost today as people would take the jokes literally and be offended.
“Now it would suffer because people would take things literally,” the funnyman tells Britain’s Times Radio. “There are these outrage mobs who take things out of context.”
“This was a show about everything – it was about difference, it was about sex, race, all the things that people fear to even be discussed or talked about now, in case they say the wrong thing and they are cancelled.”
In fact, he doubts he would have ever been given the chance to make the comedy, as BBC chiefs wouldn’t have the courage to air it.
“The BBC have got more and more careful, people want to keep their jobs, so would worry about some of the subjects and jokes, even though they were clearly ironic and we were laughing at this buffoon being uncomfortable around difference. I think if this was put out now, some people have lost their sense of irony and context.”
Gervais has himself come under fire in recent years for his close-to-the-bone sense of humour on social media – but says he can justify every joke he makes.
“I genuinely think I don’t do anything that deserves to be cancelled,” he adds. “Some people now don’t care about the argument or the issue, they just want to own someone, they want to win the argument. There’s no nuance or discussion any more, it’s just fallen into two tribes of people screaming.”
The stars’ comments come after 150 leading authors and thinkers, including J.K. Rowling and Salman Rushdie, signed a letter condemning “cancel culture” for stifling freedom of thought.
