Javicia Leslie 'Extremely Proud' to Be First Black Actress Landing 'Batwoman' Lead

    Instagram

Succeeding Ruby Rose as the DC Comics crimefighter after the actress officially stepped down from her role as Kate Kane, the ‘God Friended Me’ star will make her debut as Ryan Wilder in 2021.
    Jul 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Javicia Leslie has been cast as the new “Batwoman”.
The “God Friended Me” star will succeed Ruby Rose as the DC Comics crimefighter after the Australian star officially exited the role in May after just one season as Kate Kane and her alter ego.
Leslie will portray a new misfit character, named Ryan Wilder, when she makes her debut as Batwoman on TV in January, 2021.
“I am extremely proud to be the first black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honoured to join this groundbreaking show, which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community,” Leslie said.

Batwoman premiered last year with Ruby Rose making history as TV’s first openly gay superhero.
Leslie’s Wilder is a Batwoman wannabe, who takes over as the crimefighter when Kane goes missing.

Ryan Henry Slams 'Black Ink Crew' for Making Him Look Like 'Liar, Cheater and Dishonest Black Man'

    VH1

The VH1 star takes to Twitter to set the record straight about the alleged love triangle between him, the mother of his children Rachel Leigh and former ‘Black Ink Crew: New York’ cast member Kit Sovain.
    Jul 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Black Ink Crew: Chicago” star Ryan Henry believes that he’s a victim of vicious editing on the show. After the VH1 reality show returned for season 6 on Monday, July 6, Ryan, who is depicted in a love triangle, took to his social media account to blast the show for allegedly inaccurate portrayal of him.
He took to his Twitter page to set the record straight about the alleged love triangle between him, the mother of his children Rachel Leigh and former “Black Ink Crew: New York” member Kit Sovain. “I never started a relationship with Kit. Last season edited a convo where I stated ‘if we are filming scenes where ppl r starting to believe that WE ARE IN A RELATIONSHIP, I’m still not gonna play you & …. etc etc’ because I was requested to s**t on her. I didn’t,” Ryan said.
“Kit can back that statement up,” he added in a separate tweet. “It led y’all to believe that I started a relationship with her and immediately took Rachel on a trip and started a relationship with her too. This is false. We go on a family trip every year no matter what it was her parents 40th anniversary.”
As for his relationship with his baby mama, Ryan noted that they “have been separated over 2yrs &have never gotten back 2gether. At any cost we still take entire family trips 2create the memories for all of our children regardless of relationship statuses. Voiceovers from scenes 3 years ago telling each other ‘I love you’ were added.”
He then accused the post production team of fabricating his story, writing, “When I didnt start a relationship with kit or super play her out as I was requested to, the narrative of not my producers, but the Post Production team at big fish was 2 ‘if u won’t do it our way we will edit & make it our story’ so no matter who I rode for, they told THEIR story.”
“When they got the final cut of the finale episode, Producers were literally heard saying ‘oh s**t they f***d Ryan, nobody answer his calls when this airs’ the day before it aired,” he continued. “It was fully twisted from what myself, Rachel, and Kit filmed and provided. Skillfully edited tho.”
He went on to say that they made him look like “a liar, a cheater, dishonest black man cuz it’s entertaining rather than the truth.” Responding to people who told him that “it’s what you signed up for,” Ryan said, “No it’s not. I’m here to inspire those who aspire and can relate to real. Not BS edits.”

Ryan Henry set the record straight about his alleged love triangle with Rachel Leigh and Kit Sovain.
Ryan also noted that he fought against the editing “because I have young men who look up 2me, I have children that can see now per some f***ed up edits that it looks like it’s okay to lie 2multiple women including their mom and be a b***hmove making man which I didn’t &don’t. Yet I’m put out to the world as such.”

Ryan explained why he fought against the editing.
Concluding his lengthy rant, Ryan tweeted, “I created a platform & lane for artists, black businesses, & provide jobs for many. There is no ‘why don’t u just quit’… I started something, something great, &there is more great being seen than BS, but I won’t allow the little s**t to overshadow what I am &what we represent.”

Nicole Kidman and 'Nine Perfect Strangers' Co-Stars Quarantined for 2 Weeks Before Filming

    WENN

The cast and crew members of the new television series are facing strict coronavirus isolation rules in Australia before the production begins Down Under.
    Jul 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – The cast and crew of Nicole Kidman’s upcoming “Nine Perfect Strangers'” adaptation will be given regular coronavirus tests while confined to their Australian hotel rooms before filming begins on the TV drama.
Actor Luke Evans, who will co-star with Kidman and Melissa McCarthy, reveals everyone involved in the production will have to abide by the strict quarantine rules for two weeks before cameras start rolling, to ensure they are all free of COVID-19 after entering the country.
“We all have to be quarantined in a hotel room,” he explains on the upcoming episode of the Variety and iHeart podcast “The Big Ticket”.
“I can’t see anyone for two weeks. I have to be tested every other day. Everything is going to be delivered to my room and I have to stay in a room in Australia and not leave it for two weeks, just so that we can then be free to go and shoot something.”
The extra precautions are in line with advice issued by officials at the Australian Screen Production Industry, who have also suggested reducing possible exposure to the coronavirus by having castmembers dress themselves and fix their own hair and makeup, wherever possible, as film and TV projects start up again following a months-long shutdown.
It’s not clear exactly where or when “Nine Perfect Strangers” producers aim to begin shooting, but Evans’ comments emerge as the number of positive cases in certain states Down Under have started to spike once more.
The limited series, based on the book by “Big Little Lies” author Liane Moriarty, focuses on the clients of a high-end health and wellness retreat, run by Kidman’s character, Masha.
It is expected to debut on streaming service Hulu in 2021.

David Tennant Defends Casting Non-Disabled Actor on His TV Series

    BBC

The ‘Jessica Jones’ alum explains that the disabled character portrayed on his BBC series ‘There She Goes’ is too demanding for a child actor with similar impairments.
    Jul 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – David Tennant has defended the casting of a child actor without disabilities as a character with severe learning difficulties in his TV comedy “There She Goes”.
The former “Doctor Who” star and “Spaced” actress Jessica Hynes play the parents of the child, Rosie, who has a severe learning disability. The show is based on the real life experience of its writers Shaun Pye and Sarah Crawford with their daughter, who was born with an extremely rare chromosomal disorder.
Although the British star thinks disabled actors should be given their chance, he says they explored casting a child actress with disabilities but the role was too demanding for someone so young with similar impairments to Rosie.
“Of course, that’s a live issue and one that has to be rightly unpicked,” he tells The Guardian of the casting. “Anyone who appreciates the kind of challenges that a child like Rosie would have doesn’t doubt that it would not really have been possible.”
Instead, 11-year-old Miley Locke was cast, who Tennant says is “an incredible find” and took to the challenging role she plays with sensitivity.
He says she has “an incredible capacity to find the truth of that character” and that “She’s also very game – I’m endlessly having to pick her up and fling her about and yank her around.”
The second series of “There She Goes” starts on BBC Two on Thursday (09Jul20).
