    WENN

The former Disney actress is allegedly in negotiations to play the new leading lady in the upcoming sophomore season of the DC superhero television series.
    Jun 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Riverdale” star Vanessa Morgan is reportedly circling the role of Ryan Wilder ahead of “Batwoman” second season.
The TV hit’s producers have opted to replace Ruby Rose’s character Kate Kane after the Australian actress quit the show last month, May 2020 and reports suggest 28-year-old Morgan is the front-runner to lead the show.

Elisabeth Moss Teases Possible 'Mad Men' Reunion

    AMC

The ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ actress coyly says in a new interview that the cast of the period drama TV series might ‘have had some discussions’ about having a reunion.
    Jun 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Elisabeth Moss has heavily hinted that her hit TV show “Mad Men” could be set for a reunion.
The actress had a breakout role as the long-suffering Peggy Olson in AMC’s award-winning series, starring alongside Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, and January Jones.
Set in the cutthroat world of advertising, its cast became stars overnight and it ran for six seasons before ending in 2015.
However, in a chat with Entertainment Tonight, the star of “The Handmaid’s Tale” teased that the cast may have had discussions about a potential reunion.
When asked if the cast had considered reuniting via Zoom as other TV shows have done during quarantine, Moss answered, “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe we have! (Laughs) I don’t know. Maybe we have had some discussions about this.”
“I don’t think I am in a position to officially share anything. But, yes, we are aware that people are doing reunions and we’ve never done one, which is so crazy. We really all haven’t been together in five years. So I’ll just leave you with that.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the actress’ whose new movie “Shirley”, is out now on demand, joked that she’s happy she can provide people with an incentive to stay home during the Covid-19 lockdown.
“It’s like, ‘Oh god, how terrible. I have to sit around and watch TV and read books for a while,’ ” she quipped. “If that’s the sacrifice we have to make in order to keep everybody safe and healthy, sign me up.”
“I am very grateful to be safe and healthy. My family and friends are safe and healthy. And I am a true believer that if that is the case, you don’t really have a whole lot to complain about.”

Gabrielle Union Develops Black Queer TV Series 'All Boys Aren't Blue'

    Instagram

The former ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge has teamed up with LGBTQ+ activist George M. Johnson to turn the latter’s tell-all book into a new television show.
    Jun 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gabrielle Union will develop a television series based on LGBTQ+ activist and journalist George M. Johnson’s bestselling memoir “All Boys Aren’t Blue”.
According to editors at Deadline, the “L.A.’s Finest” star’s production company, I’ll Have Another, has optioned Johnson’s book as part of her first-look deal with Sony Pictures TV.
The young adult memoir, published by Macmillan in April 2020, showcases Johnson’s life of growing up being both black and queer in Plainfield, New Jersey, as well as his years attending a historically black college in Virginia. The book’s title is a play on the association of the colour blue for boys and pink for girls.
“Queer black existence has been here forever yet rarely has that experience been shown in literature or film and television,” Union said in a statement to Deadline. “Being a parent to a queer identifying daughter has given me the platform to make sure that these stories are being told in a truthful and authentic way and George’s memoir gives you the blueprint for that and more.”
The “Bad Boys” star is a stepmum to her husband Dwyane Wade’s daughter Zaya, previously known as Zion, who he shares with his ex Siohvaughn Funches.
She added, “What I love about this book is that it not only offers a space for queer kids of colour to be seen and heard but it also offers those who see themselves outside of that standpoint to be held accountable and help them better understand what it takes to truly have acceptance with someone who is considered other.”
Johnson shared that he is “incredibly excited’ to work with Union who he described as an LGBTQ+ ally.
“She’s someone who is not only a champion in the fight for supporting marginalised communities of colour but the work she’s doing as a storyteller and producer is lifting every voice who hasn’t had the opportunity to be heard,” he said.

Cory Wharton Declares All Hope Isn't Lost After MTV Cuts Ties With Taylor Selfridge

    Instagram

The star of ‘Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory and Taylor’s Baby Special’ expresses his disappointment at the decision made by the network in light of his girfriend’s past racist statements.
    Jun 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cory Wharton is trying to remain positive in the wake of Taylor Selfridge’s firing. Shortly after MTV ended its working relationship with his girlfriend and announced cancellation of “Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special”, the former cast member of “Real World: Ex-Plosion” broke his silence on the matter.
“One of my favorite athletes of all-time is Kobe Bryant and one of his favorite philosophies is ‘control what you can control.’ What I can’t control, though, is the decisions that MTV as a company has made,” the 29-year-old said on Wednesday, June 10. “To those of you that were ready to watch the special, I want to say thank you for your support. I have such an amazing community that supports me, my family and my daughters.”
In the statement to the press, the TV personality further expressed his disappointment at the network and sadness over its decision. Having said that he has “no ill-will against” the network, he clarified, “I have not parted ways with MTV. That needs to be understood. I’ve learned that burning bridges is never the solution.”
“As all of you know, narrative is a very powerful tool,” Cory continued sharing his view. “I feel like the narrative that you want about me should be accurate. It should be true, and it should be from me. This is why I am putting all of my time, energy and effort into my YouTube channel – The Wharton Family. That’s where you’ll get an inside look at my family as we build our life together.”
Claiming that he is currently practicing Kobe’s favorite philosophy, Cory concluded his statement by revealing what video he will present next. “I hope you guys see my growth through this response, and I’m excited to say all hope isn’t lost, on next week Wednesday (June 17) we will be uploading the birthing video 🙂 It won’t be the special but it will introduce you guys to MILA,” he spilled.
On how Taylor coped with her firing, Cory opened up during an Instagram Live that his girlfriend “is strong and she’s pulling through and I’m super proud of her.” He went on to add, “I feel like she’s apologized for this many times on the network and she’s probably going to have to continue to apologize.”
Admitting it was tough for him to see Taylor “being painted a certain way and that’s not who she is,” Cory expressed his belief that “we’re missing the main message here and that’s that I think that there needs to be change.” He continued, “All I’m asking Is that you hold everybody accountable. If you want to go down this route, I just hope they hold everybody accountable.”
On Tuesday, MTV replaced the scheduled premiere of “Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special” with an episode of “Catfish”. A spokesperson for the network then announced, “MTV pulled Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special from its Tuesday schedule and is ending our relationship with Taylor Selfridge in light of her past racist statements on social media. MTV strongly condemns systemic racism and stands with those raising their voices against injustice.”
Taylor’s racist statements at issue stemmed from her 2012 tweets that resurfaced online recently. In regards to the cancellation of her TV special, the 25-year-old explained in an Instagram Story post, “As you guys know already our special didn’t air tonight. I made the decision last week to not film the next season of Teen Mom OG with Cory for the benefit of myself and my daughter.”
“I don’t believe the reality tv lifestyle benefits me any further at this point in my life. With current events being what they are and reality tv being selective in who they apply rules to or what is considered acceptable behavior, I do not have any further respect,” she continued. “Once again, I apologize for anyone I have hurt or offended in the past.”
Taylor then expressed her hope that others can see her growth. “I have addressed my mistakes many times on the network and I would like to move on and continue to be the best version of myself. My past does not define who I am today and I hope you guys can see the change,” she explained. “Please respect my decision to provide a normal, healthy life for my family.”

'Cops' Being Shelved Indefinitely Amid Black Lives Matter Protests

    FOX

Having been under scrutiny for years, the long-running true crime TV series has been removed from Paramount Network’s slate just days after episodes were pulled from broadcast.
    Jun 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Long-running true crime TV series “Cops” has been axed amid ongoing Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality and systematic racism.
The popular programme launched in 1989 on Fox, where it ran for 25 seasons and was often paired with another real-life crime show, America’s Most Wanted.
In 2013, SpikeTV, which later rebranded as Paramount Network, picked up the series, but officials have now announced the show has been cancelled altogether – after episodes were initially pulled from broadcast on Friday, June 05.
“Cops is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return,” a network spokesperson confirmed to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday.
Cops has been under scrutiny for years, since a 1994 study found that the show associated black people with violent crime much more frequently than it did with white people.
Following the cancellation, Color of Change, a nonprofit civil rights advocacy organisation dedicated to strengthening the political voice of black Americans, celebrated the move, with a spokesperson telling the publication the show has been “pushing troubling implications for generations of viewers”.
In addition to “Cops” being shelved indefinitely, A&E’s top-rated program, “Live PD”, is also off the schedule during the period of social unrest.

'Batwoman' Has No Intention of Abandoning LGBTQ Justice Despite Ruby Rose's Exit

    The CW

Executive producer Caroline Dries promises fans that Kate Kane will not be killed off in the series as she offers clarification on earlier statement about the replacing of the character with a new one.
    Jun 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Batwoman” executive producer Caroline Dries has assured fans of the show there will still be a lesbian dynamic following the exit of Ruby Rose – because that’s why she signed on to be part of the series
Rose made history when she was cast as the first openly-gay TV superhero in 2018, but after shooting one season of the drama the Australian actress stepped down, announcing her decision last month.
Dries recently confirmed a new character will replace Ruby’s Kate Kane as Batwoman, prompting some fans to voice concerns about the gay theme of the series.
Dries took to social media on Wednesday to make sure gay viewers get the right information about the show going forward, insisting the writers will not be killing off Kate Kane.
“My comments about recasting Batwoman have launched a storm of rumours and misinformation and I wanted to clarify something,” Dries said. “Like you, I love Kate Kane – she’s the reason I wanted to do the show. We’ll never erase her.”
“As a lesbian who’s been working as a writer for the past 15 years, I’m well aware of the ‘Bury Your Gays’ trope and I have no interest in participating in it.”
She reveals Kane’s disappearance will be “one of the mysteries of season two”, adding, “I don’t want to give away any of our surprises, but to all our devoted fans, please know that LGBTQ+ justice is at the very core of what Batwoman is and we have no intention of abandoning that.”

Rose announced she would be stepping down as Kane and her crime fighting alter ego two days after the first season finale aired in the U.S., telling fans it was a “very difficult decision”.
“This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles,” Rose said in a statement. “I am beyond appreciative to (executive producers) Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created… Thank you to everyone who made season one a success – I am truly grateful.”
A week later she addressed her departure on Instagram and added: “It wasn’t an easy decision but those who know, know… I didn’t want to not acknowledge everyone involved and how big this was for TV and for our community.”
Her replacement will take on the new character Ryan Wilder, who becomes an unlikely superheroine inspired by Batwoman.

NeNe Leakes Responds to 'Vanderpump Rules' Firing Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute

    Instagram

This arrives after Lisa Vanderpump takes to her Instagram account to issue a statement of her own, in which she condemns racism and unequal treatment among others.
    Jun 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – NeNe Leakes joins the list of Bravo personalities who weigh in on the firing of “Vanderpump Rules” stars Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, June 9, NeNe commented on the decision that the network made about Stassi and Kristen over their past racist behaviors.
“Well alrighty then!” NeNe wrote underneath Bravo’s post of a picture featuring its statement about it letting go Stassi, Kristen, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni. “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star went on to say, “Now we have a few more questions to ask about in other areas where there’s a major difference. Should we talk privately or publicly.”
In the comment section of the post, people dropped some names that Bravo should look into. “See also: Kelly Dodd, Brandi Redmond, Jax Taylor, Luann de Lesseps, Kathryn Dennis,” one person wrote. Echoing the sentiment, one other fan commented, “Remove Kelly & Jax too.”
Meanwhile, some others thought that firing Stassi and Kristen was a little bit too much. “This is a bit much. What they did was wrong yes. But it was all from years ago. The hate and cancel culture in this world lately is amazing! I think there’s more to the story with faith and to be honest her coming out with this now and not 2 years ago when it happens makes her look like she’s trying to get her next 15 min of fame,” one user said.
Calling it a “trash decision,” someone else blasted the network, “Jumping on a #blmbandwagon This took place long ago and until now it was ‘ok’ until it was cool to be ok. Not to mention they didn’t do this to [Faith Stowers] out of racism. They did it because of actions she took on the show. Not because she was black. Horrible decision as far as Stassi and Kristen. The boys said things also long ago. So actions take years ago can come back and haunt you only when there’s a movement?? And only then?! This is utter BS to ruin people’s lives over this.”
Prior to this, Lisa Vanderpump issued a statement condemning racism and unequal treatment among others. Making use of Instagram on Wednesday, June 10, the 59-year-old first explained that it was necessary for her to stay quiet until decisions had been made on the issues. Claiming that she now “can freely speak from the heart,” she then stated,” I love and adore our employees and I am deeply saddened by some of the lack of judgment that has been displayed.”
She further insisted that she has “always been an equal rights activist and ally,” before declaring, “I condemn all forms of cruelty, racism, homophobia, bigotry and unequal treatment. We’ve never tolerated it in the workplace or our lives.” She added that viewers “only see a fraction of our employees on the show.”
The firing of the four “Vanderpump Rules” stars came after former castmate Faith Stowers spoke out against Schoeder and Doute. In a chat with “Floribama Shore” star Candace Rice, Faith claimed that the pair reported her to the police for a crime she did not do just because she was a black woman. Both Stassi and Kristen have since issued an apology for their action.
