Rachel Lindsay Says 'White-Washed' Show 'Bachelor' Needs 'Systemic Change'

    Instagram

Rachel later notes that ‘The Bachelor’ franchise had only one black lead in 40 seasons, referring to the 15 seasons of ‘The Bachelorette’ and 25 seasons of ‘The Bachelor’.
    Jun 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rachel Lindsay calls for diversity on “The Bachelor” franchise. Rachel, who starred in season 13 of “The Bachelorette”, revealed that she was upset that “The Bachelor” has yet to have a black male leading “The Bachelor” and deemed the show “white-washed.”
“It’s been asked of me will I continue in this franchise if it continues in this way. I can’t. I have to see some type of change. It’s ridiculous. It’s embarrassing,” Rachel shared during her experience on AfterBuzz TV’s “Bachelor A.M. With Kelsey Meyer” on Friday, June 5. “At this point, it’s embarrassing to be affiliated with it.”
Rachel later noted that “The Bachelor” franchise had only one black lead in 40 seasons, referring to the 15 seasons of “The Bachelorette” and 25 seasons of “The Bachelor” though season 25 of the ABC dating show has yet to be cast. “You are almost on par to say you’re more likely to become the president of the United States than you are a black lead in this franchise. That’s insane. That’s ridiculous,” she continued.
“I’ve always been outspoken in my frustration about the need for diversity. Ever since I’ve been the lead, I’ve always spoken on that. But there’s certain things that I don’t speak out on that have frustrated me on the franchise,” she added.
Rachel went on to say, “We don’t speak on the things that contestants do that are racist. And it bothers me that certain things have happened that we just say, ‘Oh, hush hush,’ and ‘Let’s just move on past it.’ No! We need to acknowledge it, because what you’re doing is perpetuating this type of behavior, you’re continuing to.”
Reflecting on George Floyd protests and Black Lives Matter rallies, the TV personality says, “I don’t know how you are a part of ‘The Bachelor’ franchise and you’re watching what’s happening in our country right now and you don’t self reflect that you’ve been part of the problem. You continue to perpetuate this type of behavior when you’re putting out something that is very white-washed and doesn’t have any type of color in it and you’re not trying to be effective and change that. So I think that they have to, at this point, give us a black ‘Bachelor’ for season 25. You have to. I don’t know how you don’t.”

The Kardashians: Blac Chyna Insults Real Racial Injustice Victims With New Allegations Against NBC

    Instagram

Two years after suing the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ stars for interfering with her show, the ‘Rob and Chyna’ alum claims that NBC deprived her of fair treatment because she is black.
    Jun 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Kardashian clan is not staying quiet over new racism allegations Blac Chyna made against NBCUniversal. Through their lawyer, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” stars responded to the “Rob & Chyna” alum’s latest claims about the real reason why her show did not get a second season renewal, slamming her for taking advantage of Black Lives Matter movement.
“This is a 2 year old lawsuit in which Chyna has changed her defense more times than we can count,” attorney Marty Singer said in a statement to the press. “Sadly, unsurprising to anyone, she has stooped to a new low, changing her defense to try to leverage the emotions and pain of the moment, insulting the pain and suffering of real victims of racial injustice and systemic racism.”
Having called out Chyna for making use of the country’s current turmoil, Singer added in his statement, “We take these allegations very seriously.” He went on to stress, “Once again, there is no Rob & Chyna show if there is no Rob & Chyna.”
The ex-girlfriend of Rob Kardashian made the new allegations against NBCU, which owns E! where her show was aired, on the heels of Gabrielle Union’s discrimination complaint filing against the network. Her attorney Lynne Ciani told PageSix, “No one at NBCUniversal ever informed Chyna that Kris Jenner had secretly accused her of severely beating Rob.”
“Next, without Chyna’s knowledge, Kris Jenner and three of her daughters (Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner) were able to convince E! executives that they needed to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the cancellation of season 2 of ‘Rob & Chyna’ based on the false accusation that Chyna had severely beaten Rob,” Ciani continued with the allegations.
Insisting that Chyna was “never invited to the emergency meeting,” Ciani further suggested that the matter will be handled differently “had Chyna been a white reality TV star, rather than the ‘unicorn’ black reality TV star.” The lawyer added that Jenner’s “false accusation would have been quickly investigated by E! and NBCUniversal and proven false.”
Chyna initially filed a lawsuit against the entire Kardashian family, including Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner after they accused her of assault, battery, “slut-shaming” on social media. In her complaint filed in 2017, she claimed that the family used their “power and influence” to try to kill her career in television.

Lea Michele Allegedly Called 'Glee' Background Actors Cockroaches and Burped on Black Extra's Face

    FOX

Another unfavorable report about the former ‘Glee’ leading lady emerges as one of the background actresses Imia Edwards claims the Rachel Berry depicter used to refer to the extras as roaches.
    Jun 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lea Michele is facing claims she burped in actress Imia Edwards’ face during a scene on the set of U.S. TV show “Glee”.
The 33-year-old actress found herself at the centre of bullying allegations after her co-star Samantha Ware claimed she made her life a “living hell” when they worked together on the programme. Since then, despite Lea issuing an apology, numerous stars have come forward to reveal more disturbing allegations about the screen star, with Imia the latest to make similar claims about her reported behaviour.
In an episode of the sixth season of the show, Imia played a dancer who stood in a hallway during Lea’s character Rachel Berry’s New York audition – with the scene ending as Rachel stormed past her and a group of other extras to get out of the room.
“Take after take she had to walk by me in a huff, but in between certain things would just happen,” Imia told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “She walked by me and burped in my face, this loud burp, directly almost face-to-face, it wasn’t even like, ‘oh she wouldn’t have known…’ she knew she burped in my face!”
“Two other people saw it and an operator said, ‘Oh my God, I’m so sorry she did that.’ I was just like, ‘Yeah, whatever,’ you’re on set trying to be professional, you’re not trying to make a huge deal about things. (After) the second or third take she walked by me and stepped on my foot really hard. You know when you bump into someone you can feel it, again nothing, no reaction, like I wasn’t there.”
“Another extra rolled her eyes like, ‘Wow, that’s so like her to not acknowledge.’ It made me feel like I was nothing, even if she just said in a half-a**ed kind of way like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry,’ but no.”
Calling Lea “cold,” Imia also alleged she referred to the extras as “cockroaches” – with other people even warning her about the actress before she signed up to star in “Glee”.
“I’ve never really seen anyone treat extras like that, to that level of, ‘Ugh, don’t look at me, don’t make eye contact, ugh cockroaches, there they are,” Imia said. “Dude, we’re still coworkers, we’re still people, all trying to get this episode done as a group. I think I was even on a different show and someone was like, ‘Oh, you know Lea’s a b**ch, right? She calls the extras cockroaches.”

'RHOBH' Stars in Shock After Denise Richards' Husband Threatens to 'Crush' Her Hand on the Show

    WENN

Erika Jayne expresses her disbelief to what Aaron Phypers says in the latest episode of the Bravo reality series with her tweet, which is echoed by Kyle Richards, Teddi Mellencamp and Lisa Rinna.
    Jun 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Denise Richards’ husband Aaron Phypers said the unthinkable in the latest episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”. The 47-year-old left everyone in shock after he threatened to physically harm his wife on the show.
In the Wednesday, June 3 episode of the Bravo reality series, Denise and Aaron stormed out of a BBQ party at Kyle Richards’ home after she was confronted by Kyle and Teddi Mellencamp about not trusting her kids around them. The two walked hand-in-hand with the camera still following them.
After Denise repeatedly told him to stay mum because they’re still on camera, Aaron made a threatening remark. “Don’t tell me what to say. I’m going to crush your f**king hand. Stop it,” he was heard saying.
His threat has left viewers as well as Denise’s co-stars in shock, with Erika Jayne tweeting, “Wait! What did he just say??” Echoing the sentiment, Kyle, Teddi and Lisa Rinna later retweeted Erika’s post.

Erika Jayne reacts to Aaron Phypers’ threat to his wife Denise Richards.
Meanwhile, fans of the show weighed in on Aaron’s threat in the comments of Erika’s post. “That was scary. I knew something was off about Aaron,” someone reacted. Another shocked user wrote, “He totally said he was going to crush her hand!! WTF?!”
A third user expressed her concern, “I’m officially scared for Denise. If he says and does that in PUBLIC ON CAMERA what is he doing behind closed doors?” while one other described the couple’s marriage as a “sad relationship.”
Some others, however, defended Aaron, believing that he didn’t really mean what he said.
Neither Denise nor Aaron has responded to the backlash regarding Aaron’s remark. Meanwhile, Teddi has made it be known that she doesn’t have the best impression of Aaron following the couple’s tense argument with the other ladies in the latest episode of the show. “When I called him an a**hole I wasn’t too far off #RHOBH,” she defended herself following her remark to Aaron.

'Riverdale' Creator Promises Vanessa Morgan 'Change Is Happening' After Her Diversity Criticism

    The CW

The actress playing Toni Topaz on The CW’s teen drama series has previously voiced her frustration over the portrayal of black people as sidekick to white leads in the media.
    Jun 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Vanessa Morgan’s campaign about the lack of diversity in the media has been heard. Days after she voiced her frustration over how “black people are portrayed in media,” the actress known for her portrayal of Toni Topaz on The CW’s “Riverdale” received a public apology and a promise to do better from the show’s creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
On Thursday, June 4, Aguirre-Sacasa made use of Instagram to declare, “We hear Vanessa. We love Vanessa. She’s right. We’re sorry and we make the same promise to you that we did to her.” In the statement, he continued, “We will do better to honor her and the character she plays. As well as all of our actors and characters of color.”
The showrunner went on to note, “CHANGE is happening and will continue to happen. Riverdale will get bigger, not smaller. Riverdale will be part of the movement, not outside it.” He added, “All of the Riverdale writers made a donation to @BLMLA, but we know where the work must happen for us. In the writers’ room.”

Morgan made a public complaint about the unfair treatment of black people in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. On Sunday, May 31, she tweeted, “Tired of how black people are portrayed in Media, tired of us being portrayed as thugs, dangerous or angry scary people.”
The “Geek Charming” actress continued expressing her anger in the same post, “Tired of us also being used as side kick non dimensional characters to our white leads. Or only used in the ads for diversity but not actually in the show. It starts with the media. I’m not being [quiet] anymore.”
On Wednesday, June 3, the 28-year-old actress explained why she got vocal about the unfair treatment. “To my black fans, I have now made it my purpose to fight for us. To the six year old me who had no role model that looked like me on TV. This is for you,” she tweeted. “We aren’t your token black non dimensional characters. This is being black in Hollywood. I will fight for YOU.”

Vanessa Morgan explained reasons behind her fight for change in the media.
While she criticized the portrayal of black people in the media, Morgan stressed it has nothing to do with her “Riverdale” co-stars, which include Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, KJ Apa, Madelaine Petsch and Charles Melton. “They don’t write the show,” she pointed out. “So no need to attack them, they don’t call the shots & I know they have my back.”

Gabrielle Union Accuses NBC Boss of Trying to 'Silence and Intimidate' Her Amid 'AGT' Row

    Instagram

The former judge of ‘America’s Got Talent’ has hired a top lawyer as she’s preparing to launch a lawsuit against ‘AGT’ producers following ‘toxic’ workplace allegations.
    Jun 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gabrielle Union has filed a complaint against Simon Cowell and his Syco Entertainment partners over her dismissal from “America’s Got Talent”.
The actress exited the show after just one season at the end of 2019 and maintains her departure came as a result of complaints she made about the “toxic” working environment behind the scenes, referencing harassment, inappropriate behaviour and misogynistic conduct.
Union sat down with the TV show’s bosses at the end of last year 2019 to outline her issues and the producers carried out an independent investigation into her claims. Last week, as the 2020 season of “AGT” began, they pledged to improve reporting processes behind the scenes thanks to Union’s complaints about diversity off-camera.
NBC, Fremantle and Syco officials issued a joint statement about the results from the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the firing of the former judge and concluded that “no one associated with the show made any insensitive or derogatory remarks about Ms. Union’s appearance, and that neither race nor gender was a contributing factor in the advancement or elimination of contestants at any time.”
“While the investigation has demonstrated an overall culture of diversity, it has also highlighted some areas in which reporting processes could be improved,” the statement continued. “NBC, Fremantle and Syco share Ms. Union’s dedication to diversity and inclusion in the industry. We continue to remain committed to having an inclusive environment for everyone associated with the show, and to upholding AGT as one of the most diverse programs on television.”
Now Union has responded with her intent to sue Cowell, Syco, Freemantle Productions North America, and Universal TV by filing a harassment, discrimination and retaliation complaint with California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
As part of the document, obtained by Deadline, she claims NBC Entertainment Chairman Paul Telegdy directly intervened in the investigation, sparked by her complaints, to “silence and intimidate” her.
Tough Hollywood lawyer Bryan Freedman, who previously helped Megyn Kelly win a multi-million dollar payout from NBC following her 2018 exit from the network, has signed on to represent the actress.
He writes, “On or about February 4, 2020, Telegdy threatened Union through her agent and warned Union’s agent that Union had better cease from pursuing her claims of racism while filming AGT. Union’s agent was shocked that the Chairman of NBC Entertainment was attempting to threaten and intimidate Union. Union’s agent could not recall another instance in his career when a senior executive at a network had threatened and intimidated an employee during an ongoing workplace investigation…”
“It thus became clear to Union that Telegdy was not merely attempting to silence Union in the media, but attempting to silence Union from making any further comments to the investigator.”
Speaking to Deadline on Thursday, June 4, 2020, Freeman said, “There is no place for this type of racial bullying in the workplace, and it is going to take more than a Tweet from NBC to demonstrate that NBC intends to create an environment free from racism.”
